Just trying to understand if the spring preload nut on the Leaperkim suspension affects pedal height for a given weight rider. For the purposes of this discussion, I'm not worried about spring compression rate or bottoming out. For any specific weight rider, does the minimum preload create a lower rider mounted pedal height, and conversely maximum preload create a higher rider mounted pedal height?
It's so cool u have this instructional video on how to operate the screen! I doubt it comes with an instruction booklet explaining all this. I was just thinking on a ss review that I watched the other day is how is someone s"pose to know how to operate the menu! Thanks for the video! Yall are the best! It would be cool to see a begode suspension master class though. Seeing how all there suspension wheels use the same style. Or at appears that way anyways. Like how to upgrade, and a Lil explaining on what the little grub screws are on the side of the slider casings! See so much on fb ppl asking about those screws and ppl saying that it is easy to over tighten and mess up some type of brass ring inside? Thanks again! And I'm about to go out and get the tools for my t4 today! All thanks to you two! And excellent camera angles!
Thank you 🙏. I just got my Patton and this is incredibly helpful!!! Just wish I had watched this and adjusted my angular cut out before I let a pro ride my wheel and crash due to taking an aggressive high speed corner and cutting out on him.
Thanx!!! You they should have a picture of you guys. What’s the difference between left and right battery charges will it have different readings charging now going to stop at 95 % and plug into other part 😋
Hello guys, love your explanation. Do you have any info regarding the second menu (hold down the same button for 10 seconds) - My lynx has a slight error in distance and speed measurement after changing a tire size... I would love to correct it if possible. Cheers, Dennis
Thank you for this. I find the Patton interface extremely opaque, and the printed manual no help cracking it. Was in despair until I watched this, several times, scrolling back over and over. Love the brutalist looks of the wheel; hate the brutalist menu system.
Guys, great video as usual. I saw there is 70lb suspension, as a heavy user I think I might go for that one, any update on this since you uploaded the video? Thanks!
Hello, I received a brand new lynx but my compression damper doesn't seem to adjust. Even at full clockwise, I can't really feel any difference from fully off, even though the rebound feels really different... It that normal ? On your video, it seems maximum setting on compression doens't change much for you either... so I'm guessing I'm okay ? Thank you.
If possible one day, a similar video for V13 would be awesome as many people still don't know how to correctly use the shock pump and adjust the dampening/rebound.
Good question, I just wonder if it has to do with actually going fast or does it have something to do with torque and how quickly it accelerates even at lower speeds
super helpful! is the preload is adjusted by turning the large nut at the bottom or the smaller golden nut at the top? how does adjusting compression damping on the right side affect the left shock?
The preload adjustment is the golden knot at the top of the wheel. Adjusting compression on one side only affects compression dampening. The other side is rebound dampening
@@2cells1pack thanks, preload is the smaller golden nut at the top! My question is more about how it works.. the shocks seems to be independent. I don’t understand how adjusting something on one side can affect the other side. I understand that each side has a different adjustment (each of which affects both sides)
@@2cells1pack oh!!! Yeah ok that makes more sense and torsion is my immediate concern also lol avoiding extreme values on either side is better in that case.. if I’m worried about the frame flexing
Full suspension preload, does it affects spring stiffness to harder, or makes suspension travel distance shorter/longer, or just makes pedals higher/lower from the ground? As i found information that more heavy persons should set preload to clockwise as lighter persons should counter clockwise preload screw.
Spring stiffness - harder yes suspension travel -> depends if it would bottom out the spring or not - which would require me to disassemble a unit and see inside It would also make your pedals higher from the ground potentially.
PWM / Safety Margin are used interchangeably, however they refer to the "headroom" one has when doing higher speeds. A good safety margin is 70-80%. If you get to 70-80% of wheel's usable power - I tell people to turn on the tiltback so that they have 2 forms of safety: beeps & physical tiltback.
Hi, I'm not sure why the settings are different, but they are set that way from factory so I wouldn't change it. I'd have to spend more time with the device to figure out the reasons for the difference. (I didn't have enough time fiddling with the device to answer your questions fully)
Thanks for this! I'm expecting my Patton soon and this is super helpful for navigator LK's confusing settings menu 🙈🤣 BTW, when you did the demonstration at the end, you had preload set to minimum, didn't you? Wouldn't increasing the preload make it less likely to bottom out?
Yes increasing preload will help a little with bottoming out, but after adjusting it we still had issues. Therefore we reverted it before selling it to the next owner.
@@2cells1pack Right. So if preload doesn't help all that much.... I was going to go for the 62 lb version but maybe the 66 lb would be better. I'm 75-80 kg (165-175 lb) fully geared and will be using this wheel for trail riding (nothing crazy Chooch-style, no jumps, but mostly off-road use), it's probably better to get the 66lb suspension right? (And set it up for very little preload)
Hello, I'm hoping for an update to adjust the tilt back of my Sherman S like the Patton. Unfortunately the speed goes from 58.2 km/h to over 200. I would like to adjust the tilt back to 70 or 80 km/h but it is not possible at the moment.Wiil there be an update? Thanks
Not sure, this is on LeaperKim. They like to do their tiltback in this way unfortunately. Hopefully they can release a well functioning app that will allow you to tweak settings faster too.
Hi I jsut got my 62lb suspension patton and felt that the suspension is a bit stiff, I'm already cracked the red and blue counterclockwise to the max. I don't think you showed how to decrease the preload? do i need a wrench for that? (instead of the flathead screwdriver which i used for the dampening adjustment)
The preload is the golden part (adjustable wrench). They come stock with minimum preload, however I would continue riding it as the suspension does soften out over time with use.
Thank you! any advice on of the seated riding|? I can't seem to figure it out. Hoping that aftermarket seats get published that make it easier for seated riding

@@2cells1pack i see.... But even for smaller people is there any reason to lower the preload? What's the correct setting or how should you know what to set?
im 130lbs, would you recommend the 62 or 66lb shocks? currently preordered a 58 lb shock but after seeing you guy's review, I'm looking to bumping that suspension up.
I noticed that the spring pre-load was set to the preload you would use with the lightest person (max sag). Does setting the preload to have a minimum amount of sag reduce the bottoming significantly?
@@2cells1pack Preload is how you adjust sag with rider weight, also is how you make it harder to bottom out if you are a heavy rider. Preload is a standard term and not unique to EUCs
@@2cells1pack but also when you showed how easy to bottom out, I feel preload is your primary tool to prevent bottoming out and compression dampening should be secondary to tweak the feel.
Why didn’t you increase the preload at the end of the video? That would certainly decrease the chances of bottoming out. Only playing with the clicks is only part of the solution
Pre-load does not decrease chance of bottoming out, what pre-load does is reduce sag and increase the amount of force it takes to get the suspension moving, it does not change the spring rate, preferably you wan't no pre-load as it will make small bump compliance worse
