I totally agree, I know this is a late reply, but I remember going to so many dermatologists throughout my life, and they would say, oh it doesn't hurt, then don't worry about it. It's just aesthetic. Yeah it is aesthetic...

    • @ivnisc
      @ivnisc 4 роки тому +29

@@lolll1234 For the best result, yes. The idea is to lock in moisture with an occlusive layer (Cerave cream) so the water on your body does not evaporate and dry out/damage your skin barrier. Dr.Dray mentioned if that's too uncomfortable for you, towel dry to until you're damp and then apply your cream.

@@ivnisc I believe she said that if you find it uncomfortable to just stand naked then still put on the moisturizer right away on to wet skin but then after you can just cover yourself with a towel but not dry yourself with it to relieve any discomfort. I don't believe she said to towel dry until damp and then put it on.

Such a refreshing change from the zillion videos out there on skin care from people who are not qualified to talk about skin care and know nothing about what they are saying. This is a REVELATION. I've had chicken skin all my life (I'm 45), as well as severe sensitivities to essential oils and many other skincare ingredients. I've always wondered why my skin seemed so fragile compared to other people's but I had no idea that chicken skin was even a real "condition" let alone something genetic. I feel so much better knowing I have a tendency toward an impaired skin barrier and that there's something I can do about it. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this very informative video. I followed your recommendation and it made a big impact on my upper arms. The only thing is that I’m using the SA body wash (just on the affected area not the entire body).I was very surprised. After a week of following all your routine I saw a big improvement. I would say my skin improved 85% after just one week. Thank you so much for creating this video!
    Items I use:
Morning routine (I shower every morning):
1- CeraVe SA Body wash for rough & bumpy skin (apply only to the affected area)
2- CeraVe moisturizer (apply right after the shower on wet skin). Let it dry
3- CeraVe SA Cream for rough & bumpy skin.
    Evening
1- reapply CeraVe SA Cream for rough & bumpy skin.
    Thank you again!

I also chunked most of commercial skincare and switched to organic coconut oil as my after shower moisturizer. I have this condition literally all over my body except for my face and neck, every inch of my body, arms, legs etc. I've looked EVERYWHERE for a "cure" or an overnight fix because it's given me some severe body confidence issues, but every time I research for a solution I see that there is "no known cure" and it's so disheartening. I'm 19 and I've noticed this issue since I turned 14 and I'm sick of feeling so insecure about this issue.

I was diagnosed with celiac disease 6 years ago & subsequently diagnosed with KP.. which is so bad that it was initially confused for dermatitis caused by celiac disease. I had hopes that eliminating all traces of gluten in my life would help my KP. I also went dairy free for a while. But my KP has only gotten worse over the years and nothing seems to work longer than a mere few days of clearing. After watching this I suspect it’s in part because my skin products and routine have been too aggressive and making the problem worse. I’m so excited to try this. Dr. Dray - I've never asked for a review of a product but this one I cannot help but ask. Alpha Skin Care Body Lotion with 12% glycolic acid (available on Amazon for 16.99 - 12 oz). My son got rid of his chicken skin with it and he had leather skin. It is so soft now. I use it because I can put it on right out of the shower and not need lotion for days. It really is amazing. No fragrance. I'd love to have you review it because it changed his life. He was very self conscious of that chicken skin and leathery feel. Not only has the texture of my skin improved everywhere (no bumps) but my skin also feels tighter in those areas! She is RIGHT! DO NOT DRY OFF AT ALL! You will have to rub the product in longer ans kind of "air dry" but it is so worth it! I noticed this when I started doing it with oils immediately after my showers last summer. I stayed pretty hydrated during the day. I will be looking into the E45 since it looks like it's within my price range.

I may not know much but even I thought that would be irritating. I am so glad you make these videos to give people good advice.

GAH!!! This condition (and eczema) plagued my childhood and adolescence! My pediatrician recommended only dove soap and cetaphil products. As a result my skin was always on FIRE. I suffered from rashes and my skin was always inflamed and irritated, and I was horribly teased for my skins appearance by other kids.
It wasn't until I visited a dermatologist around age 19 that I got a firm grasp on this condition and how to treat it. I've used Cerave and Eucerin products for about 8 years continuously and haven't had a rash since. I am an absolute devotee to Cerave and Eurcerin. Thank you so much for going into detail about the cereave SA cream usage! I'll introduce that product into my skincare this week.

It's a vitamin A deficiency. Creams and lotions are not going to help because this is coming from within. You cant just take A suppliments tho. Cod liver oil would be best and with K2 since it has D3 in it. Vitamins are better because they are essential or we die. Get your A levels tested as well as all your levels. All skin issues are within the body. Psoriasis and Eczema are gut issues believe it or not.

Always shave on well moisturized skin. Better to shave in the shower, exfoliate gently right before shaving. Don't use shaving foams, etc, they are often drying, I personally prefer hair conditioners, they have silicones that can protect the skin. Moisturize immediately after, wait for the moisturizer to dry, and sprinkle some dusting powder before putting clothes on; this reduces friction which can lead to irritation of the shaved area and cause bumps. Hope this helps. 😊 If you continue to have bumps regardless, there's a high chance you have sensitive skin intolerant to shaving, and you might want to look into other methods of hair removal (trimmers are amazing). All the best!

My doctor recommended Amlactin for my keratosis pilaris on arms and legs, so I’ve been using the Daily (not the Rapid Relief) body moisturizing lotion past 3 months. Initially when I applied it all over my hands and legs, I noticed my skin getting extra dry and flaky. It was so annoying because I already have a dry skin condition (Ichthyosis Vulgaris) whereas this Amlactin lotion was supposed to “leave dry skin soft and smooth, boost healthy skin renewal” etc etc. So then I started applying the lotion only on places I have the strawberry skin aka chicken skin, and rub my usual trusted Cetaphil moisturizing body cream everywhere else. After watching soooooo many of your videos ever since I subscribed a couple of weeks ago, I’m definitely going to try the CeraVe products now. Thanks Dr. Dray for sharing your knowledge!! In the quarentine I pass 3 months whit out using it (every thing was closed, I used other brand), and the problem agraveted.

Wonderful video -I did not know that I needed to apply the Cerave SA cream to dry skin - So naturally I was applying it to wet skin after I got out of the shower and it wasn’t working that great - I’m going to give it another go - thanks Dr. Gray because I certainly have dry skin.

Thank you for such a helpful video! I have this (even on my butt cheeks). Hate it! I was rubbing the tretinoin on my forearms and it seemed helpful but will try the Cerave "Trifecta routine" instead. I'd like to finally have nice arms for summer time... :-)

Fantastic information...I have KP and psoriasis. The psoriasis is very minimal now since I learned by trial and error that fragrances/chemicals were causing my psoriatic flares. Now I can get to work on the KP! Thank you, thank you!
