Bro this is soo cool! I love the use of the light on the walls when they stop and talk, I love the writing so much, it almost seems like it wasnt scripted, very very realistic. I love the vibe of the film too, the textures and everything. The sound is great too! The use of the steadicam is beautiful too, flew soo soo well.
Thanks for watching! We shot in only available light, so we had to be careful with how we blocked the scene! As far as the writing, Vaughn Arterberry is extremely talented at crafting authenticity, be sure to check out his website and other work, “the space between” is one of my favorites as far as realism. Thanks again
Wow, so effortlessly good. I need the rest of the film and i need it to be at least 2hrs long. The acting really made it all jump off of the screen but everything else was in place for them to be able to do that. Amazing dialogue, very smooth and natural and a beautiful location with that long well lit path. And how could I forget the camera work was so good you don't even notice it's one take! Nicely done, very inspiring stuff.
I had a good chuckle when I saw that the young lady playing "Autumn" was named Summer. The focus is a bit off as others have said but on a single take night shoot tracking down a city sidewalk on FILM?? Impressive, honestly. Good work!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! It was pretty fun on set trying to remember and call her by her actual name. Focus was definitely a challenge for us, but my hopes are that that doesn't take away from the other elements that I believe make the film enjoyable. Thanks again.
damn this was LOVELY, I love everything about this. Your dedication to the craft is inspiring, I'm here with a digital mirrorless and can't shoot jack, you shooting truly captivating film with.. film. I'm humbled and happy having seen this. Thank you for sharing!
In search of 16mm film use nowadays, I reached here. But this one piece is really adorable that I'm really grinning now out of pure happiness. I am a Korean movie maker and having a difficulty in using film because here we see no any film processors or developers. Even not sure I can find bolex cam. So I just wandering expecting no more than some footages withouth even storylines. But here is yours. I think the actors are also great. Have you ever done this film work? Before?
I need to know if that guy walking in between you guys was in the script or if that was real haha I loved the film. Very comfortable and captivating at the same time.
Very nice. Of course the 500T is very noisy in the darker parts. It looks very smooth when well lit. Perhaps you should have used a light source for the faces. I'm probably not telling you anything new. Opening shots are out of focus. The background is much sharper than the actors' faces. Perhaps it's the lens? Anyway: I always applaud the effort shooting on real film. No immediate feedback, no monitor with all bells and whistles. Not for the meek. It would be great to know what camera and lens(es) you used. Thanks! Edit: camera work is great!
Thanks for watching! We definitely faced some challenges during this shoot, and while we weren’t able to overcome them all, I’m proud of the piece and glad you have the chance to watch and enjoy it! We shot on my SR2 with a 16mm Optar Illumina.
I didn't watch it, but I listened to it while at work and the dialogue was nice! A kind of mix of unrealistic "fiction" writing and realistic dialogue.
Amazing short! It was so authentic. This time vision 3 500t looked for me a bit like ektachrome. Did you underexposed this. If yes it was a great choice :)
Thanks for watching! It was 500T we went all natural light and wide open on our lens. The blacks are obviously “underexposed” but in the lit areas when the characters stop and talk, the exposure was right on.
i wish u guys shot this indoors where u would have more access to lights (if any) and wouldn't have to worry about the underexposed/grainy shots, feel like you wasted alot of film by shooting in the dark with no lights
Mann. This looks terrible!! It's unwatchable. How much did it cost you to shoot on film?! You could've gotten better quality from iPhone I mean really... Whatever you got out of this shoot is not on screen.
Fun fact! We actually reshot this scene for the feature version of the film and corrected every issue: faster glass, supplemental lighting, better audio, haha all of it. It’s important to learn from mistakes to get better and I’m glad this can be a place to demonstrate that.
We had some issues during production we unfortunately couldn’t control, which led to some of the distracting elements of the film. If you’re interested, there’s some more “polished” looking work on my channel that you’re welcome to take a look at. Thanks for taking the time to check out the film!
@@nkosiroma fuck polished, this is art, there are no rules, this shot is perfect as it is, if it'd be crispy and no noise and grain it'd be completely different mood, looks awesome bro, keep doing what you're doing 👍

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment. The feature version is currently in production! 👀
This is so cute! Loved the story and the characters.
Thanks for watching!!
Great job! Real film rocks!
Dope. Nice halation from the street lights.
Appreciate it!
great scene.

Really nice well done!
Thanks a lot!
This feels like a great scene from a longer movie. Any plans to extend it?
Currently in the process of development with the writer/director!
Great cross over with the blocking. Very nice short!
Thanks!
Focus, focus! (yes I know Aaton's viewfinder is dark .. xD)
Oh wow, I love this😍
beautiful!
Thank you!

Thanks for watching! That’s crazy there’s no film cameras or labs out there. Needs to change for sure!
@nkosiroma you did what labs do by yourself? I'm visiting NYC soon so I'm curious if there's anything I must but
How many stops did you push this? That accounts for the graininess, I assume?
Didn’t push haha 😅
Hey what lens did you shoot this on? Thanks!
Optar Illumina 9.5 or 12mm! Can’t quite remember!
Keep going!
I need to know if that guy walking in between you guys was in the script or if that was real haha I loved the film. Very comfortable and captivating at the same time.
Haha the fact we've been asked about this multiple times means we accomplished our goal. Thanks for watching! #moviemagic

Pretty cool. Grain is a bit distracting though!
You’ll be happy to hear we completely reshot this scene to incorporate into a feature I’m currently shooting. It’s 1000x better in every way!
@@nkosiroma Super cool!
Reminds of music: joey bada$$ - show me
Someone likes Steve McQueen...this is very reminiscent of Shame.
How is the camera rolling sound not in the movie?
It’s a quiet camera!
@@nkosiroma thanks man.

"The best version of a man youre going to get is at the beginning of the relationship"
Women can be the same, and thats not true for all men .
I feel like the dude cutting through wasn't even supposed to be there
Perfect 😆
noisy AF, someone did not check exposure and film type
It’s intentional film grain

never seen such a dirty picture! grainy and noizy, out of any focus. omg whats wrong here?
