I tested so far only the HN .217 slugs in 25grs and the same weight JSB slugs in .216 - both group very tight from my regulated PR900. Test them in high wind conditions last weekend, the HN did slightly better with less wind drift in the group then the JSB. Also the HN did expended a bit more for me in my diy ballistic gelatin then in your clear gel. Was a bit surprised by that since HN lead is usually very hard versus JSB lead is super soft. Yet that is the greatest news to me with these new slugs - they even function from a budget pcp platform as .22 PR900 with outstanding performance and I don't need to get new fancy rifle with special slug barrel. I like how the FX slug mushroomed. I don’t shoot slugs because of the safety factor where I live and will always use a Daisy Hollow Point 15.4. I seldom shoot past 50 yards on game. My SK-19 can be a hammer if I would turn it up for theses slugs and then my barrel wasn’t made for them. The FX/Rat Sniper slugs would then be the clear choice for that barrel. I worry greatly about where my shot goes if it leaves their body, hence why I will probably never use them for pest control. The Daisy will hit them and expand to almost .35 caliber and stay inside the animal. This was a very informative review and has given me more food for though with my demons and pest control/hunting ethics and safety. The rifle you used to do your testing is a bad mofo. Seriously hard hitting and very consistent. Great video, awesome music and excellent examples of where the industry is at in quality and performance. Thanks bud.
Awesome job, Neilsen, JSB, and H&N are 5.5 cent, 7 cents, & 8 cents respectively. The FX Hybrid are 2 to 3 times more at 15 cents each slug! That's too bad... I'm not seeing 3x's better ammo in the FX slug.

I’m using the 22g hybrids in my FX Dreamline lite 500 mm pellet liner at 860fps and accuracy is spot on. Under one inch groups for 5 shots at 100 Metres in light winds.

Curious on the slug penetration. I "suspect" the further out one gets from the muzzle, one will get better penetration (to a point) simply due to lower speeds not opening the slug up. Penetration is obviously important, but could there be scenarios in which one may need to dial back the speed on hard headed game, like hogs, coyotes and Im sure others? Could there be cases in which the slug opens up to fast on a hard headed noggin and not get into the brain pen? I could especially see this in larger calibers .30, .35 in which the slug already has more surface area to try to plow through with a soft lead hollow point slug, I would think it will really open the slug up fast. Obviously, they are devastating on birds and large rodents. But on the very large "airgun game" when head shots are pretty much a must, wouldn't it be better maybe to have a solid slug, with some antinomony added, so there is some expansion, but limited? After all a .30 or .35cal hole in itself is a pretty large hole in the head.....Kinda a wordy question. Not even sure if it's a valid one.
If I were to shoot a "hard headed" animal like a coyote or hog...I would not use a hollow point of any kind. A solid pellet or slug would be a much better choice. -Donnie

Facts, facts no bull, this I can relate to. An avid subscriber to Donnie as of now. Waiting for my on order H&N slugs to arrive, the FX Wildcat mk2 is rearing to try them.
if your gun shoots all of them equally well then you buy the cheapest . if all are dead accurate in your rifle expansion dosent mean much when the slug is accurate enough to be placed on the dot all the time. so in a case where all of the slugs shoot the same from your gun just go for the cheapest and watch whats behind ur target
Fantastic video without beating around the bush! I loved the music also. You have a new subscriber. I think I may test some slugs in my RTI Priest 2 this spring.
I would prefer to see reviews using guns that are more general consumer biased. A $3k gun testing slugs does the least justice available when it comes to folks on a Marauder budget.
Like I said...you have to test them in your own gun. Slugs in general like going fast, so a Marauder might be a better pellet than slug gun. Still, you just have to try for yourself and see. -Donnie
I disagree , if you use s@#t you get s@#t results . When you use one if the most reliable rifles out there you get reliable results , making the data more believable . So what your saying is if he did this with a slingshot you would believe the results more .? I wouldn't . "Deeds nit words"

Have you ever tried putting RTV Silicon Form-A-Gasket in the tips of any of these slugs yet my brother. I do it to Daisy Hollow Points and they expand on contact. They do not need flesh, bone, feathers, or hair to initiate the hydraulic expansion. Yes, this is not my idea to set the history right. This technology belongs to Hornady FTX flex tip technology bullets. I just applied it to pellets and now Orion the iguana Hunter is trying it with slugs. The results are instant expansion and total energy dump with a minuscule addition to the overall weight of the projectile. His channel shows this as does mine. This is used for pass through control and total energy dump. You do you but I invite you to try. I also have a video on my UA-cam channel that show you how we do it. Heath Halfhill...that’s the channel. Rediciluase expansion and minimal passthroughs, and massive energy dumps. Hydraulic expansion based on the fact that you can’t compress a liquid. Cool music by the way. I have been playing for over 49 years and I dig your tunes brother. Y’all are jammin! BTW I prefer to use pellets in .22...Erlis prefers slugs and a .25. As I said brother...you do you. Watch our videos...Erlis does them better but from the looks of his slug tests...NSA slugs are where it’s at to add silicon to the hollow point. Daisy Hollow Points made in Spain not China.22 , 15.4 grain due to the deep “V” shape...their my pellet of choice H&N Hunters work also...DHPs are the best though all around! .22- .34 caliber shot into clay at 910 FPS. Check it out. Your too cool to be left out of this awesomeness.

Really just depends on what your barrel and tuning like. I've had Nielsens that like 850 in one rifle and over 1000 in another.
And there was I thinking you would be a Chamber music kinda Guy.
all good info, though , thank you.
LOL There isn't much music I don't like. Thanks man!
-Donnie
Damn bro! Next thing you gonna tell me you are a gourmet chef!! Musician, Astronomer & Air Gunner. Great vid & good info, even though my guns aren’t necessarily Sluggers.
LOL Thanks bro! To be honest, the JSB Knock-Out shot REALLY well for me out of a 30fpe Daystate Wolverine R. You might want to try them.
Baker Airguns thanks, will give them a go sometime in my Cricket & Veteran.
Facts, facts no bull, this I can relate to. An avid subscriber to Donnie as of now. Waiting for my on order H&N slugs to arrive, the FX Wildcat mk2 is rearing to try them.
Thanks man! Let me know how they shoot for you.
-Donnie
if your gun shoots all of them equally well then you buy the cheapest . if all are dead accurate in your rifle expansion dosent mean much when the slug is accurate enough to be placed on the dot all the time. so in a case where all of the slugs shoot the same from your gun just go for the cheapest and watch whats behind ur target
One of the best reviews I have seen! You did a great job. I'd love to see a Red Wolf Safari review here.
Thank you very much! I 'll see what I can do.
-Donnie
@@BakerAirguns Looking forward..There is not much about this gun on the net especially when it comes to long range shooting in .22 cal
Where can I buy the CD of your music? Nice video .
Thanks Dan! I don't sell any music anymore, but you can download it for free at www.reverbnation.com/donniereed
Fantastic video without beating around the bush! I loved the music also. You have a new subscriber.
I think I may test some slugs in my RTI Priest 2 this spring.
Right on! Thank you! I've heard good things about the Priest, but haven't had the chance to play with one yet.
-Donnie
Love the video!!! great info!!!
Thank you very much!
-Donnie
exelent information!! amigo keep those videos coming muchacho👍👍👍
Thank you! I certainly will!
-Donnie
I wish the companies would have sample packs i.e. 20 slugs that you could get instead of buying a whole package and finding they don't possibly work.
Nielson does 40 pack
@@boskoromanic7425 Thanks will check that out
hmmm JSB KO super sonic from FX Impact X MKII= profit?
Yeah, but that's Phase 3. What's Phase 2?
Very nice.
Thank you very much!
-Donnie
Marauders aren't power houses and were meant to shoot pellets. Be thankful if one of them shoots well.
Brothers in arms did some low fps slug testing with a Hatsan Flashpup with pretty good results and even he admitted he thought it wouldn't do well because the lower power of the flashpup. I think it was out to 70 yards I can't remember
Do any of them require a special barrel, or do they work out of a standard pellet barrel?
They'll work out of either one, but you just have to test them and see if your particular barrel likes them or not.
-Donnie
@@BakerAirguns well said! Some guns like "some" pellets (slugs).
Hey Mr. Donnie , great video ! Lotsa great info here. I just subbed your channel and look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you very much! More on the way!
-Donnie
Are you going to do a review on the daystate Safari?
That is, in fact, in the works. Stay tuned!
-Donnie
Great video... liked and subbed!
Thank you very much! It was a fun vid to make.
-Donnie
fx dreamline is a lot more accurate at 100yrds with these slugs. there's a video on youtube.but its a .25cal. i wonder if .22 cal air rifle is worth it for slugs and hunting 100yrds
How did they perform FPS/fpe wise?
Watch the video, lazy ass.
-Donnie
Love the info great job on the slugs but man were can i get ur sound from loveing the jam keep the great work up and keep them tones comeing
Thanks man! I haven't made music for a while due to a, no BS...samurai sword injury. LOL You can check out some older stuff here... www.reverbnation.com/donniereed

For 1200$ and some change and iv watch ever video on the gun and some one told me i was going to have to do alot of mods to it .that i would be better off going with a nova Liberty so now im stuck lol
@@Michael-cb3dz what did you end up getting? I have a gauntlet and love it but it gets put on the back burner to most of my other guns because it is just so big heavy and awkward. Check out the classifieds on airgun nation. You can find an fx for under a grand half the time.
Fine Job Sir! First AG tester that actually knew the threshold of the beginning of Hydro-static Shock! Finally some one who actually knew what the "L" they were talking about.
If you impressed Cedric, (Tof., your doing fine! ;
Killer Music as well! Well Done!!!

Thank you very much! Cedric is great! It's truly my pleasure to make these reviews. It's nice to meet you!

@@mikel9162 Right on, Mike! Thanks!

Cedric and I go back a lot of years now. He, RoachCreek, Doug Noble, and AJ Porter were kinda the first real AG slug shooters and testers. A lot leaned, good to see it paying off as it is becoming more and more mainstream
thanks for the review! Will help out even more. ;
Freaking awesome man👏👏👏 thanks for all the info mate. Just a quick question. At what speeds did you run these slugs?
Thank you very much! The exact speeds are in the ballistics gel testing segment, but they were all around 1030-1050fps if my memory is correct.
-Donnie
Thanks man i have noticed that there weren't any massive changes in group sizes with speeds between 900 and 1055 fps
brilliant and good to watch info,, just subscribed
Right on! Thank you! More to come soon.

I was pleasantly surprised by the music 👍 reminds me of my youth lol

Thanks man! And right on. I'll give it a try.
-Donnie
Anyone have favorite slug for the talon P ? Mine shoots good with Grizzly 31 gr
I'd just try a few and see what it likes best.
