Great job. It's really great to have someone come in from the powder world with knowledge of ballistics and long range rifle world. Enjoyed this very much. Powder guy here, new to air. Having a blast with mine.
It would be most helpful to have a definitive video that correlated calibers / slug sizes to specific game animals (various species, sizes, distances) with real world examples. What’s available online seems to be all over the map. Your staff has a wealth of hunting experience, so a video tying suggested caliber/slug combos with real world examples would be awesome. I just ordered a .35 King from you and want to confirm my expectation of being able to take down a Tyrannosaurus Rex is realistic…
Very informative, as a relatively new Airgunner I didn’t realize or know most of the points you hit on. One thing you didn’t come back to, and maybe you plan to in a different video is hybrid slugs and or the other types of slugs, shapes etc. I guess for me I will generally stay with pellets shooting mostly in my backyard 100 yds at the most, no hunting for me, just target shooting. So I guess maybe a different video on different types of slugs and different types and shapes of pellets. Thanks for your time.
The light bulb went on for me when you discussed the ballistic differences between slugs and Diabolo pellets. Now I know that trying to shoot slugs through a pellet gun is a non-starter due to the twist rate difference. Makes perfect sense to have one gun for pellets and another for slugs. Although it may be ok to shoot pellets through a slug barrel but not the other way around.
Thankyou, basically what im learning here is I'll shoot pellets 22 6.5 and 30 cal and if I need to use slugs ill go to .22 subs or 308 subs in a standard rifle
Just got my AA Challenger .25 power wheel set to 75% from you guys I love that thing I know a lot of people add a regulator to them. Will that lower my FPE
I've been watching videos of exploding slugs and pellets but not so sure thier terminal performance on larger game because of exploding on impact might hinder penitration . They certainly do cause serious damage on pest size game but it would be nice to see slow motion impacts in gel to determine effectiveness. I don't mean to go off subject , great educational video. Thanks
Hello sir excellent session 👏. And my self kamal im from india I have one doubt regarding to regulator set up on an .177cal air rifle. I have unregulated .177cal pcp I'm planing to install regulator contains 30cc power planum with 130bar presser. suppose i install the same setup how many ftlbs getting on a jsb 10.34 grain pellet sir?
what about crossman red flight ( steel material ) ?? there is no skirt on the back but very identical to actuall bullet so i wonder red flight pellet will deliver more energy than most other lead pellets that have big skirt?
Hello, I have a question. I am shooting FX Wildcat MK3 .25 with upgraded power plenum. I am shooting Jsb knockout slugs 33.49 with 0.092BC and Jsb king heavy MK1 pellets 33.95 with 0.056BC. They have more or less same velocity at the end of the barrel around 925-935 FPS. Now my question is why slugs have around 20cm(8inch) more drop at 90m(98yards)?
Seems some commenters missed the point to match your projectile type and things like weight and caliber to the situation, game or environment. Slugs just because they have more potential power and range are not always best. I have a number of air rifles with various tunes, calibers to match the intended use. I will add that if you want to make it easier to achieve a good slug tune to try an add on harmonic tuner or with the FX's a tuner shroud. Eagle Vision makes a beautiful well made tuner that works great. Maybe do a video on how to do a tune using a harmonic tuner.
Now I found that shooting pellets compared to slugs that the pellets are loader leaving the barrel even with a moderator have you guys found this as well And why would that be thanks for the videos great watching
Unless your airgun is designed to shoot pellets (in which case don't buy it, or change out the barrel) just shoot slugs. It's like asking the question... What's better? A slower, weaker hitting projectile? Or a faster, harder hitting projectile that is easier to shoot bc it handles wind much better...and goes further? Tough call 😊😊
I think this is a valid question. I have at least 3 benchrest champions saying the oposity. That 50 yards pellets are flatter and more precise than slugs...
@@KevinWood44I agree KW time of flight to target is the key, gravity is a constant - no matter weight, comes down to basically time of flight at these ranges.
hmm..now im wondering what the twist rate is in my RAW HM1000X .22 is? ill shoot pellets for plinking, target, But for Long Range, Slugs for sure..Anyone have a idea of the twist rate on the .22 Raw Hm1000x??

Don't worry about it.
I ran into learning just what my airgun can and shouldn't shoot today. This info is very useful.
Glad we could help!
Thank you Sir that was a perfect explanation of the difference between the two and also the safety aspect for back yarders
Glad we could help!
A very well delevered presentation. One can certainly tell that you may be new to airguns but you certainly are not new to shooting. Kudos
Great overview Sawyer!!
Spot on bud! Nice job

Great content thank you.
Can you hunt deer with a 30 caliber slug?
Great video as always, but you didn’t really cover the hybrid slugs with their pros and cons. Nevertheless keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work my man
Could you go more in depth on the hybrid slugs? And was there any particular reason you left out .30cal?

Excelente excelente video muy claro 👍👍👌👌👏👏🧉🇦🇷 saludos 👍
Very informative video. Please for the next video lower the back ground sound.
Will do, thanks for watching!

.177 spring airgun (300m/s) is enough for slugs or too weak? slugs are good only for pcp or co2/gas ram/spring too?

Another benefit to pellets is they are cheaper
Great video. Im in the UK so sub12 .i can do pellet on pellet at 60yds are slugs capable obviously with your high power guns? Thanks
With my .30 cal I'm not slug on slug but there's 1 ragged hole in the end.
Slugs are capable but best at longer ranges (100+) where the better bc and higher speeds create less drop and group better than the pellets.
i like airguns.
Can I shoot Diablo 177 knockout slugs in my crossman repeat air rifle?
which is more accurate using slugs 22 or 25 cal say using a 600mm barrel?
Can I shoot 177 slugs out of my gamo pellet gun? It's one of those that says "1250 fps with pba lead-free ammo"
I live in Washington State how does altitude affect a palate or a slug?
Now I found that shooting pellets compared to slugs that the pellets are loader leaving the barrel even with a moderator have you guys found this as well
And why would that be thanks for the videos great watching
Because pellet are usually lighter than slugs so they going faster breaking the sound barrier
Why the music in the backgound ?? Very annoying 🎶👎🔇
How about the trajectory of pellets versus the slugs at 50 yards to 100 yards? Which of the 2 has flatter trajectory?. Thanks
Slugs will almost always be flatter. They have much better BC and typically like to be shot at higher velocity
Unless your airgun is designed to shoot pellets (in which case don't buy it, or change out the barrel) just shoot slugs.

@@rafaelfigueroa2479 u think a projectile moving approx 80-150fps slower will be flatter???
Are u familiar with this guy named Isaac Newton?
@@KevinWood44I agree KW time of flight to target is the key, gravity is a constant - no matter weight, comes down to basically time of flight at these ranges.
Slugs are better they have a better ballistic coefficients and they hit extremely hard only downside is most guns cant shoot them
Ola queria fazer uma compra sou do Brasil não estou conseguindo queria chumbinho jsb
When should u use pellets? Never. Well in competition, then never 😊
Duhhh dumb.
Great info, but the music is distracting and not needed. Please have just the person talking in the future!
