Dam good info
Awesome video Thanks
Lol love the video
Great video, i like that you got all nerdy on this subject. I've always had either .177 or .22 airguns, i just ordered the Hatsan Sortie Tact .25, a pistol with a folding stock for my backpack looking forward to testing it out, i dont have ballistic gel (i may make some) but I'll definitely be running some shots through the chrony and targetting different types of mediums to see what happens. Take care and thanks for the video
I have a gauntlet SL 30 gun and I ran it out of air so I use my SCUB tank with the Ed easy quick fill trigger it only had 2500psi in it but it stop filling up my gun at 2000psi is there something wrong with the trigger
I bought one off of eBay, it came with two magazines, a Huma-air suppressor and a bunch of xtras. unfortunately it’s impossible to find .22 magazines anymore. The only thing I can find are the s5.5 slug magazines. I’ve been thinking about trying to convert it to a .25 because the magazines are easier to find.
Is there any recommendation of the red dot could fit for Air Venturi V10? Too old to aim it under low light.
Smaller holes require less energy
I know you don't invented the physics rules bot I definitively LOVE your channel for expose it in this way. Thanks and congrats!
I'm wanting to get started in field target .I wanted to be able to tune the gun by adjusting the hammer strike and the regulator setting to match the pellet I'm using . Can this be done on this gun without pulling the regulator out of the cylinder ?
You are not dieseling the pellet.
Somebody on YT who actually knows some math! Wonderful. We really can't figure much out with out it. I can now enjoy an intelligent review for a change.
One could argue that the .30 dumps more of its energy into the target medium, rather than wasting it on over travel.
А что, по-русски слабо? Скоро придётся учить...
I would like to see a 22 added to this experiment. I'm not using airguns to hunt, I'm mostly interested in pushing them to the longest distance while still maintaining acceptable accuracy. From what I understand(I could definitely be wrong), the 22 seems to be the best performer in that scenario, but I can't seem to get a .22 that shoots with energies comparable to a .25 or .30 cal air rifle. I was getting ready to click buy on the Umarex gauntlet 2 in .22 cal, but decided to look at the performance or the .25, then the .30. the differences are pretty astounding when it comes to FPE... So now here I am, back to looking into whether or not I should move up to a larger caliber. The only airgun I have that is not .22 is an AEA semiautomatic .30 cal and I'm not impressed with it's accuracy, even when disabling the semi auto function and using it as a "bolt action"... I guess most of that is unimportant when it comes to the comment I came here to write, but I would be happy to receive some advice from others that know more than I do about different air rifle calibers at long distances.. the main point of my comment was to see if there was a trend in the smaller diameter projectiles. From what I learned in this series of videos, I am expecting that a .22 fired at the same energy would outperform the .25. AND maybe a .177 would outperform the .22. I would love to see more videos added to this series. I love it when science gives us an unexpected surprise.
Thank you for taking your time do to this video
Mark 2s at 50yds wow.
I think you should do same test on a 22 cal vr 25 cal
16:43 no you need too
Great content 🎉🎉
if both same fpe then obviously samller diameter will penetrater further deeper due to smaller less contact duhhh
Are these parts for the mods currently available? You website does not list them and the links given do not work! Reply appreciated.
Just bought one. Can’t wait to get👍😎
Anybody know what happened to this guy and the Baker Airgun videos?
The standard FBI penetrating test is 12" - 14" and past 18" is over penetration. The FBI also says that you should shoot for center mass. The skull is always going to be hard to penetrate. I can see the 30Cal left a larger hole and damaged more flesh overall. The 25 is more like an icepick wound and the 30 is more like a blunt rod. Also, I noted that neither pellet was shot fast enough to deform. Seeing that they are made of soft metal and not a brass jacket, you did not put the true speed behind the rounds so they could perform at peak efficiency. You also spent a little time trying to smooth the wound track on the 30. You said it yourself, you went into this to prove the 25 is better than the 30, which also causes flawed outcomes because you will be trying to get the answers you want over what could possibly happen. Also, the 22lf has killed more people than any other but the governments do not use it. The truth is that they cannot use something that will not stop a person right when they are shot. The Dum Dum bullets were outlawed because they did too much damage. That is why metal-jacketed rounds were made but they turned out to be very bad for war because they passed through (ice-picked) leaving a small hole that did not stop people in the war. The people who were shot, sometimes do not even know that were shot till later, after the battle is over. Today, it is the speed of the bullet that makes the difference. A slower-jacketed bullet will not cause much cavitation, whereas a very fast-jacketed bullet will cause a lot of cavitation. The difference between the 25CAL and the 30CAL is small but I can see it. You are saying that the 25CAL is better because it goes deeper but if you were to do the same test with 2 Evanix Rex, one at 25CAL and the other at 50CAL, I think the outcome would show the 25CAL goes through everything and the 50CAL would just make a big deep mess. The Zeus 72CAL on the other hand would do both (SCARY) A good test of what I am talking about is to shoot a 1-foot squair clay block.
The test is interesting. But it would be even more useful if the muzzle velocity of these bullets were the same, because the rifle's capabilities allow it. And it is also very interesting to conduct a test for a longer distance. I think such a test would be more practical, for example, for hunters. Thank you for the work you've done.
Typically though you won’t have equal muzzle energy for an airgun that is sold in different calibers so I’m not sure what this proves. Take the hatsan blitz for instance. The 25 caliber model is 41 fpe and the 30 caliber model is 62 fpe. Why choose equal FPE anyway? Why not equal velocity or equal momentum?
With break barrel air guns I think the lighter brain projectiles are deadlier because they reach faster velocities and penetrate deeper with similar foot-pound energy behind them but when you get the PCP again you have a lot more power in that extra energy is going to make a lot of difference from 25 to 30 caliber in my not so humble opinion
My m3 is shooting 54 grain slugs with 120 fpe , I think that would beat a 25
Wow lol is this a satirical video? Lol generally speaking, there are exceptions but in general most people find the best accuracy with a velocity right around 880 FPS. The velocity of the 25 caliber in your video for most pellets is not going to be stable and produce good accuracy. Your 30 caliber velocity of 840 FPS is not a velocity that anyone would shoot a 30 caliber. Most people shooting a 30 caliber are shooting at velocities of 915 FPS or more because the heavier pellets tend to be more stable at slightly higher velocities than normal. The average foot-pounds of energy for a 30 caliber is 100 ft pounds so either this video is satirical or it's purposefully detuning the 30 caliber to fit a narrative which is false. I guarantee if they were both shooting the same FPS the 30 caliber is penetrating more.
I shoot 28 grain, hollowpoint, .25 caliber airgun slugs out of an old firearm, chambered in an obsolete caliber. I have no chronograph or ballistics gel, but they fragment in mid air, if I don't fill the cavity with wax, and they expand to .50 caliber in water. Any idea how fast they're moving? I estimate 1400 feet per second, but that's just a guess, really.
Do you sell hammer spring for fix wildcat MKIII sniper 22CAL
Makes perfect sense to 25 will travel further it's smaller less resistance😊
You don't want it to penetrate further anyway you want it to go in there and mushroom out in order to do more damage
So what the 30 cal is larger so at the same speed it shouldn't travel as far through the gel. The 30 will do more damage
You are funny. Great video. The naysayers might have been more interested if your findings were confirmed by CNN
Great vid man
My thinking is that a .30 Cal may be preferred as it will stop sooner. It seems both will get the job done. Hitting bone will certainly change the depth. It would seem a .25 caliber may be able to take a larger animal, such as a pig or deer, perhaps with more success? Nice review! ❤ A perfect excuse to buy both!
All makes perfect sense, Explaining it in a way for everyone to understand is difficult, good job explaining!
The Old School Was If Ya Gonna Make A Hole ...Make A Big Hole...😂
I Got Your 6 Big Man.. !
You are the only guy that gets 25 shots per fill, All the rest of the guys say that they are getting 30 shots, So what do you think? maybe a bad gun ? Bruce.
@02:55 you dont like it because you hunt with gloves in the winter, but because you like to hunt for hamburgers
Your comparison is dumb. The point of bigger is better is due to weight. You can't take a heavy for caliber 25 and then a average weighr caliber 30 and then also make the 30 go slower than the 25 so they have equal ft/lbs to show that all being equal the 25 is better. Yes of course it will be because of its momentum to sectional density. You need to get their sectional densities the same which means the 30 cal will need to have a heavier bullet going the same speed as a lighter weight 25cal. Then compared the damage done. This will likely mean the 30cal will have 20ft/lbs more energy, all things being equal. Then you will see the true performance of the 30cal.
Thanks man!
What about cavitation?
Try the same tests at 60 yards.
I specifically bought this rifle because it's American made, BUT, i can't get an answer on the email sent. It's useless because the air leaks out too fast. I've only shot it around 30 times and am very disappointed to say the least.
Interesting great review thank you
