I wanted to share this video all about this adorable plant. From all of my experience, and what I have gleaned through research and other's testimony on their experience caring for the tetrasperma. A large portion of the video is all about my successful propagation technique since I know that is challenging for so many people.

For propagation:
Mine also rotted in water!
I then put them in moist Leca, also rot.
Then I put them in pure Perlite and they rooted really fast and finally survived 😅
Now I only propagate my plants in Perlite and haven't lost a cutting yet 😍
I put the Perlite in a little plastic planting pot and placed them in a dish with water. This way I can flush the whole thing through or change the water and it's easier to control the water level :)

Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma is my favorite plant right now. (LOL) Your video was so awesome. I especially liked the whole explanation of how you propagate and how you create your mix for your propagation. That sounds like a winner to me because the plant has some choices to grow their roots in. Thank you.

Nice. Great technique at 15:10 whereby the the root is placed into the media but the actual cut, calloused stem is in the air on the surface if the media. 😊
i have 133 houseplants doing well, its in the coldest part of my house, but bright light. it hates 12° , it got root rot really quick when cold, this is my most delicate plant
Yea, that makes sense, it takes longer to dry out in the colder temperatures. They like to dry out fast. I hope this plant sticks it out for you!
i have my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma growing up the wall sitting on my computer desk.I also recently ordered an Monstera Asonaii
I heard sphagnum moss is incredible for propagating Raphidophoras.
It has been a game changer for me! Especially after I added the perlite and a little fine orchid bark. Worked perfectly!

I actually purchased a cutting on etsy that arrived in sphagnum moss. The node had halway rotted and even had a tiny bit of mold on it. I was so dissapointed but I cleaned it well and repotted in into an airy mixture so I'm hoping for the best.
Hope the best for you too! I've had a lot of rotted nodes until I realized that the node had to completely and I mean completely dry before I put it in moss or water. I really hope it pulls through!

Thank you for such an informative video! You explained everything about the RT and I love it. Will continue to watch more of ur videos. I have one at home but I am in Florida visiting my children and just today my husband FaceTimed n showed me that the leaves r turning on the edges dark brown (dried up). I have it in a self watering container but he thinks it has to constantly have water. He’s trying. I did tell him to cut back on watering n wait til it has dried out some. I worry it will die n I’m not there! 🥺🥺🥺. Any other suggestions?

They do tend to like more water than a Monstera deliciosa, but it greatly varies according to your climate.
I might suggest waiting for it to dry out, then water, but don't leave it dry for long. Also make sure it has plenty of humidity.
I keep hacking chunks off mine when it hits the ceiling and promptly stuff the cuttings into bottles of water. 100% success rate. It has been unfussy and a very vigorous plant.

my tertasperma went from splitleave perforations to whole leaf now. I moved intoa window nothern side to trail up the frame. its a single perforations orgin vine but now reverted.
any feed back will be appreicated . . . . i was under an aquarium ligth prior but now has the natural sunlight.??
Hmm. I know light has a huge influence on fenestrations, however not knowing the strength of the aquarium light, how far away the plant is from the light and other details... I couldn't attest to which is better. There's such a big science behind it that someone much more knowledgeable than me could answer.
I do know fenestrations also form when climbing. Once the plant becomes more mature, you should start to see more fenestrations come in. Northern light may be a tad weak. Western light is best, but near south light is surely bright enough. 🌞
How long does it take for the cuttings to adequately callous?
Mine took about 30mins for a very minimal callous. But it may take shorter or longer depending on your climate. Take a peek at the cutting to see if it dried up, and then you can propagate them then. These could honestly be left overnight and be fine because they retain so much water.

I have a cutting, put in water since 1 month or 2 and no i have very little starting root... idk if its normal
I've found the plant genetics + environment impact the speed of growth. For me it's a slow process too. You're doing great if it hasn't rotted. 👍🏼👏

If you hurt a new growth point on the node and it breaks off, will that growth point regrow?
I think it depends on exactly where the break point is. If the node is still intact, you could see more regrowth. In theory, you may see new growth along another part of the stem if there are more nodes. Hope my vague answer was helpful 🤷🏻♀️
To say this plant has "blown up" is an understatement. Way overblown and overpriced. Before the hype I saw it at a big box store in a big pot for just $14.99. An even bigger pot was like $17.99.
Beware: good care will make this plant take off, and when it does it gets big/long really fast.

Unfortunately this is the case with A LOT of plants when it comes to pricing.
But everyone can determine what is worth the hype to them. 🤷🏻♀️
@@plantposey Actually, I think people need to wake up and realize that they are being manipulated and price gouged. It is never okay to let others profiteer or create hype for profit.
A real eye opener to consider: when the plants were $14.99 and $17.99, they were still being grown/sold at a price that generated a pretty decent profit, and that was only just about three years ago.
@@bkrbkrl I partly agree. In the case of raph... (I can never spell it correctly) there were just not enough plants to distribute. That's why the price rose. Then the TC plants flooded the marked and the prices dropped down real fast.
(At least here where I live)
Now it's a bit more expensive than a Pothos but not crazy.
That's just how the economy works.
Like gold... it's expensive because there's only a certain amount and it's not easy to extract.
On the other hand there are plants that are actively held back. This way there never will be "enough" plants to meet the demand and the price stays high. (*cough variegated monstera cough*)
That's what I feel like is totally wrong and deceptive!
They create a shortage to cash out!
(This is based on what a prominent plant UA-camr said. He/She said that he/she has seen warehouses full of those plants that were being held back)
The best tip is not to follow "trends". If you really like the plant, you'll still like it in a few months time and might get it for half the price.

@@mkpetersen1607 Keep in mind tho, that the prices went up long before there was a huge demand. I compare it to the blah blah in gas pricing: the oil barrels go up but that is not the price of the oil used that made the gas already at the gas stations, yet they raise that price anyway. As soon as demand is felt, the plants produced instantly went up. That is what I mean about creating hype for profit and price gouging. People need to climb down off those bandwagons so prices will return to where they should be.
As far as growers controlling supply, again, sounds a lot like the oil industry, doesn't it? Lol. All about the money. WE have ultimate control over that. We need to stop the plant madness.
What do you think of air layering ?
I think air layering is a fantastic way to propagate. Especially since this plant doesn't like too wet of conditions. It would be a safe way to explore another method 🤷🏻♀️
