Thanks for the video and on being courageous in eating the bait fish. The look on Andy's face when he tried the eyeball was priceless ,🤣.GB-KS from Australia.
Thanks for showing us! I never imagined minnows as a meal, but as a survival food, it's certainly a viable option. It might not be fried catfish, but just add some cajun spice, and I'm good!
Heidi I'm very happy you found the right guy for you. He seems like a good man. Congratulations to the both of you.
He definitely accepts my weirdness, which is all I can ask 😂
@@LilRedHeidiHood that's great to hear. God bless ya'll
@@LilRedHeidiHood I wish I could bet you first but I'm happy that you have a good man I want see more live cooking report like you do your fishing
@@jameswilliamsullivan4511 me too friend 😓😥😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤
Andy made the best action face ever, lol
Heidi, in Chicago we always casted for Smelt and fried up a meal on the shoreline rocks. The Smelt were gutted first. We brought home many and had enough for neighbors all around. Smelt are now rare because of the ecological imbalance and intrusive mussels entering the Great Lakes, but those bait fish you ate have been introduced and Salmon, Steelhead, and Trout absolutely love them and Gobies.
That’s super interesting! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Heidi & Andy that looked delicious 🫢 I would definitely stop at the head let alone eyeballs lol
My dad was so good at baiting the hook. We called him the master!
It's hard to believe that I've been watching Heidi since before 15k subscribers and now she's crushing it 👍🏻
Congrats Heidi and Andy y'all can have them this old guy will stick to my anchovies. Fun video thanks for the laughs. God Bless you both and the pups!!
Don’t knock it til ya try it! 🤍
@@LilRedHeidiHoodI Didn't knock it just know it's not for me. In my younger days I was more adventurous than now.have a great night
Here on the west coast, anchovies are considered bait fish.🤣🤣🤣
you are a true prepper and survivor bless you and your family
love to see you go fishing with hannah and jeff barron
... and hunting too!...
"Actually smells really good."..... Proceeds to almost throw up. 🤣
Andy was all about it 😂
They have even smaller fish called Whitebait in the UK that they fry up all crispy like that. Very nice.
Yes! They’re not bad at all!
@@LilRedHeidiHood they have a lot of that type of small deep fried fish in Asian too that are intended to drink with beer. Good snacking food.
That was great! I have to say those little fish looked pretty yummy. And everyone liked them including the dogs!
You're a stand up guy Andy.
With baitshop breath, she counted the hours until his long awaited return.
A little wordplay.
Bated breath: in great suspense; very anxiously
They look like fresh water smelts. They would be delicious!!!! Great video Heidi !!!!!
A great video heidi the cook look real good keep up good work that you do 👍👍🐟🐟
I ate bait once. Big 6 inch shiners. Butterflied them and fried in olive oil ,butter and shot if cognac. Tastes awesome. Love seeing you living your dream Heidi. Glad I'm invited on the ride. Hoooooowwwwwlllllll
Good to see you again as always ❤💙
Fantastic video! I loved it 😍
Almost 500k subs.. woo-hoo. Good job.👍
It reminds me of a joke I heard years ago. It goes something like this...
Seven year old Johnny wanted to go trout fishing at the local pond.
His little 3 year old sister Suzy wanted to come with him but Johnny
protested vigorously. The mom stepped in and made Johnny take
his little sister with him. So they both went to the pond and after
a few hours they came home. "Did you catch any fish?" the mom
asked Johnny. "No I didn't!" Johnny responded, "Suzy ate all my bait."
😂
what country do you come from to think thats a joke
Thank you for another adventure Well you know if your hungry you do have options1 Thanks again always enjoy your post.
two video in one week is much job, your fans really appreciate, thanks Heidi,in my country i fish mojarra and eat with bread is delicious, kiss from uruguay
Fun timezzzz 😎
What ever you doo love it very nice fishing shows an videos I'm still checking on you 👍🎣💖 love you unconditionally ✌️⭐✨✨🙂
A couple of tricks you can use. Take the Alewives, gut them and take the heads off. Hold the fish belly up and press down on the spine with your thumb and the bones should separate from the flesh. Pull the backbone out and your alewife should be butterflied. This works great on smelt here on the west coast.
When prepping the fish to fry, flour them first in seasoned flour then in the egg wash with the bread crumb mix last. The first dip in flour works like primer does when painting. It allows the egg wash to stick to the fish which allows the bread crumbs to stick better to the fish. I have figured out that people that say certain fish are trash fish have been wrongfully taught and have usually never tasted the “trash fish”.
Kinda like frying up lake smelt, one of my favorite snacks.
Good to see you! You always cool.
Andy is braver than me when i comes to certain taste tests lol.
Yum! As long as the bones don't get caught in your throat, their fine. Bon Appetite 😉
I do love that you try everything. I'm that same guy.
Love it! Good video
Where I live in nw Indiana we are at the southern tip of Lake Michigan… when I was younger we would put nets out in the surf and keep a pair of scissors in our pocket cut off head tail and guts out cook over bonfire on a stick delicious
Fun video to watch. Around here, pickled suckers are the baitfish people eat. Pickling fish dissolves bones so you might want try that someday.
É bom voltar a gravar vídeos novos. Já cansei de ver e rever os vídeos antigos 😅😅❤🎉
Thank you for the cool cooking video 😊
This might be a real world situation faster than you think
Indeed
Agree
@@LilRedHeidiHooddid you ever swallow or ate a live fish?
Sorta both the fish and the chip all rolled into one.
Heidi: Hunger Games gold medalist.
That was fun! Plus dogs make everything better 👍
yumm dinner time..fish is fish in a survival situation that would be a jackpot.yeah fry em up longer if the bones are hard but they should be safe eather way to small to cause a problem.✌🐺
🇧🇷Excelente trabalho 👏👏👏👏
That would be interesting with the guts and head on. I would clean them if it was me before I fried them but that's me. Love the video!!
YAY IT LOOKS GOOD
We use blue gill and crappie for flathead bait here in Iowa so not to strange
Well I loved it!
Love your video's , You remind me of my granddaughters and grandsonS, I'm 72 and love outdoors fresh water & salt water fishing at bouge inlet pier area Emerald Isle ! Hope one day this grandpa may see you out fishing or hunting ,keep praying and trusting God ! Glad you're happy now with your boyfriend ! Say hi to your mom , you two fish really good. Crispy is the way ! May God bless you more ! ! Bye bye ( papa Freddy)
In the US, most fish are trash fish. This is normal everyday meal in lots of other countries. Should remove the guts first, maybe butterfly them, then panfry or deepfry thm until the bones are crunchy.
Well done, guys. I could have told y'all the eyeballs are hard in the center. When camping I always fry my trout whole after gutting them of course. I save the eyes to eat last because they have a slightly sweet taste but the center of the eye is marble hard so they get spit back into the fire.
Ahh I have neglected the slightly sweet eyeballs for too long. Will be trying this soon, as I also cook up my trout whole by the campfire 🔥
Back here in missouri were not to crazy about drum to boney lol we use for cut bait 🐿🦌🦃🪕😁
Great show again, i dont know how fati these fishes are but i do usually grinded meat balls. What more fat that more tasty ;)
NEED that "Cluster Fu@k" towel in the background!! Where did you find it?! Is it one of your designs? 👍👍
We always make fish with this method in Turkey. Only we use corn flouver for fry and parsley-onion salad with lemon. Thats all 🙂
Yum
Some things in life are better left unsought 😂😂😂
Great job on this video. A day may come when this experiment could pay off for many. It's good to know! It's like carp etc. There are ways to make unusual fish sustainably for emergency. Also, you can soften bones by pressure cooking first and make fish patties..... without the heads. 🙄
You go girl🤣🤣
Back in the mid 70s while trout fishing in the Rocky Mountains, I enjoyed eating the raw trout before cooking the rest of it. I guess I was ahead time with American sushi.
You were ahead of your time
Good video everyone likes it even all 3 of the dogs 👍🏻
If you're hungry, you can deep fry about anything and it'll be good. Good example of if you can't catch anything else, these are good too. God provides, maybe not the tastiest fish, but you aren't going hungry.
That was cool 🤣
Nice thumbnail pic 🤣🤣
Cool 🙂❤️
Hi Heidi and Andy I would pick some of those " bait fish " over that tasty squirrel on a bun from one of your previous videos 😋 great seeing another video so soon God bless and see you all in the next one.
Me too!
@Lil Red Heidi Hood you made my day Heidi first time since I joined the Wolfpack I got more than a like 👍
On the shore in South Jersey we call them sand crabs, not sand fleas! We, on occasion, actually do have sand fleas which are real fleas that actually bite like real fleas usually found in the sand dunes? Sand crabs do not bite, they actually have a very tickly feeling on the bottom of your hand! I used to love catching them as a kid 🙂
Thank you so much for a beautiful video. Careful
Thank you lil for another amazing and beautiful video. Thank you for being such a beautiful and inspiring person. I hope your doing well?
As a Dutchmen we eat herring quite often. It's pretty good, strong flavour not my favorite tbh. I never tried them fried tho, but bet it's decent like any other fried fish.
Loved how Andy just took a big munch as a first bite lol. The face you made me laugh. I'd do the same big bite I recon lol.
Smoking them and with gutting and scaling prep is the best way. Lateral slits from head to tail to allow smoke penetration. The bones become soft and unnoticeable. Open campfire on a stick to heat them works good!
To bad the bait you ate wasn't from my rod brahaha sorry playing around love the vids be safe
I have that exact green bowl, it's my popcorn bowl
When I was young we ate Alewives quite often!
I love your life and love of nature. You thanked God too
I bet it tastes similar to smelt, which I like a whole lot up here in frozen WI
Andy you are one lucky guy yall make a great match God Bless yall..
I wouldn't have eaten the bones myself. I would've stripped the meat off like you eat bream when you fry'em whole without the heads. Hope to see you and Andy doing some bass fishing videos. It's that time of year for catching them. I've already been catching them since Jan.1 this year.
Up here in Ontario Canada we eat smelt fish about the same size and cooked the same way they taste amazing.
Try Tony Chicieries creole seasoning, I bet that will be delicious. Great video.
Eating a small fish called a Smelt in upstate New York was always a treat for me as child. Battered and fried just like y’all did 😀
Barry...DM message is a SCAM.
Nice I liked that face after saying they smelled good lol
It's normal to taste like this if you ate it with scales! It's a very good fish, eaten especially in Europe and Asia. But not in fried oil. Clean the scales, split the belly and remove the stomach. Then wash, salt, and refrigerate for 2-3 hours. Then fry on a well heated griddle. Serve with a glass of white wine. 👌
I want to try this! Thanks
We make fried Smelt at Christmas but we clean and take off the heads before frying.
Well I think I had to cook it more until it is super crunchy and you eat it with all the spines and you take out the small visceras and I think it would be much better because I have eaten them like that. Good thanks for your beautiful videos.❤❤❤❤
Never tried alewives but herring, sardines, smelt and anchovies that I use here in the salt on the west coast are good.
Dear Heidi ❤best way to fry the bait is first you cut it by side from to head to tail and cut its tail to and then clean it inside and remoove all the body organ and the then cut in slice with light knife cut it gently and then rub salt it according to the taste and leave it for half in a hour then deep fry it for few minutes on medium fire🔥 it will taste like potato fench fries Dear i will wait for your humble kind reply ❤❤❤
Shoot it looked good to me 💯 I’d munch on one foe show 💯 Thanks for the video God Bless🙏💯🙏
cool
You always look amazing.
😋👍
What did Andy think of them, did he try them. I would try them. Have you ever tried OX tail. It is very delicious.
Wow! he did try it. Love it :; You guys are great right down my ally. ;)
Watch til the end! 😀
When I lived in Michigan I used alwive for catfish bait.
It used to be a frat thing to eat live goldfish whole. The Japanese eat small live eels. They say you can feel them swimming around in your stomach.
Hi Heidi I’m sorry for commenting late it’s better late
Than never for my comment.
I wanted wish you infinity
Of joy&Happieness.
Takecare Heidi 🐺🤟
Im gonna have to try those myself now. Even though they are small, do you think you could eat them like a small catfish on the bone and just kinda pull the meat off the bones or are the bones too delicate to do that? Some saltwater reef fish I couldnt eat because of a complicated bone structure and just couldn't avoid a mouth full of bones. If I were hungry, I could eat a lot of things that seem gross! Nice creative idea for a video Heidi!
Would love to see you try Bunker! I have.....Pew! 🤢
❤️👍
Hello big ip from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Awesome!!! I'd throw Old Bay on them!!! 😀 🐟 👍 ❤
I used to catch smelt on Seneca Lake Watkins Glen & Hector falls N.Y. which we're outstanding!
