Ulf might be my spirit animal when eating, especially during Christmas.
While Ulf is obviously extremely rude and stupid, I think it’s honestly pretty realistic. He lived in King’s Landing as a nobody, wasn’t worth a damn, and suddenly he now has a dragon, is living and dining like royalty and has now been promised knighthood simply for existing. Dude went from 0 to 100 in a day. Whereas Hugh is older, had a family and thus a sense of responsibility, and Addam was a competent sailor, it makes sense that they’re more levelheaded. But Ulf doesn’t have any of that. He has authority and excitement now that he’s never had before, so it makes sense that he’s being difficult. But the others aren’t doing a good job in keeping him in check. They just assume that he’ll be gentlemanly about it, which isn’t realistic.
I truly like these dragonseeds. They're the only reason i want to give this series another chance.
@@cristinademartini6653 You won't like them so much in a couple seasons.

Ulf channelling that one weird uncle at family gatherings vibe.
Ulf the Ugh. Hugh the Silent. Addam the Loyal.

Idk Ulf seems to simple, doesn't care, and he got in his head, he can't handle to much power lol no discipline.
Addam the ni $$ er
Addam the only loyal…😞
Really does show that jacerys had a point when he said giving this kind of power to commoners is a mistake
Addam was truly the loyal
We can already tell Adam will be the most loyal. I loved his little sigh. He’s just happy to be there and have a purpose. He didn’t choose it Seasmoke chose him.
Loyalty to a bloodline of butchers and kinslayers 😂😂
“Best make me a knight, then” He didn’t even need a dragon for that burn 🔥😂
Rhanaera: Acknowledge me
Ulf: More of these little birds🌚
Seriously why did Rhaenyra think being knight, would be good payment “FOR BEING A DRAGON RIDER.” At least promise them a lordship from a family that rebelled against them.
Yup, Lord of Rook's Rest for Lord Ulf and Lord of Harrenhal for Lord Hugh.
And Lord of Oldtown for Black Addam😂

he would cut him to pieces.
Ulf is the patron saint of those who've made it so far by doing so little
I'm surprised Ulf got away with how he was acting, Daemon would have cut him down without a second thought.
Daemon liked the dragonseeds jn the book since he actually hanged out with commoners but i could see him beating up ulf sinxe that's the only way hell behave.
@@peenoice5176 He loved Nettles especially😂
In the book Daemon wanted to give Ulf Storm's End and Hugh Highgarden because he found Ulf funny and he knew that his side needed to *bind* the dragonseeds to them.
In the show all the Seeds get is lecturing from Saint Rhaenyra and superciliousness from that little twat Jace
To be fair, getting only a Knighthood as a reward for becoming a dragon rider and fighting her war, is a kinda abysmal reward
Right? She should have knighted them right there and promised castles and lordship of houses loyal to the greens. They literally have the more powerful dragons on their side. Hope Ulf doesn't "accidentally" friendly fire Jace eventually because he keeps snapping at him.
well obviously we need to make room for the betrayal later with some of them
I know why she was too afraid to do it, but the only reward befitting their dragon rider status would have been to legitimize them preferably of cadet branches of their primary house and reward them eat titles/lands. She was loopy to have thought what she offered them would be sufficient
@@MethyllHugh’s betrayal came from misinterpreting a prophecy of a new king. Ulf did it out of greed because he wanted Highgarden. No amount of pandering would satisfy them

This scene took about 15 takes and the actor who played Ulf ate a total of 40 quails.
- Alcoholic
- Stumbles upon a dragon
- Disrespects Rhaenyra the absolute worst character in the show at her own table
Ulf the Based, ladies and gentlemen
Худший - это Эймонд, а Ульф самый реалистичный и живой персонаж в этом сериале)))
I genuinely wanna know what Ulf was eating. Little birds? are those pigeons or some kind of sea gulls?
Varys’s spies.
think the actor said it was quails
I think they're quails, but in-universe I imagine it'd be squabs or maybe even small gulls; whatever nests on the island is probably edible enough.
When you invite a Milwall fan to the Queens table
A hooligan hahaha how disrespectful, if Daemon was there he would certainly do to him what he did to the sea serpent's brother.
Another West Ham L. Jace will be forever blowing bubbles in the gullet lol
Ulf being able to get away with this behaviour does show something important: he’s lower on the hierarchy officially but, practically, their equal. He’s still a low-born peasant who might get a knighthood later on and should be showing deference but he has a living WMD that can go toe-to-toe with his prince’s and his queens dragon so they can’t alienate him lest he takes that WMD and join the other side. Those in power like to believe they’re where they are because they are better than other people in some way but lots of them are like Ulf: stumbling into power thru sheer luck and get completely drunk off it once they have it.
That is an awesome point however he could be a little more humble like Hugh and Adam
I need the laughing track edit
Big bang theory levels of the scene
I hope hugh would not betray his queen in the tv series
she not his queen
He won't. Since Rhaenyra isn't his queen he can hardly do it while betraying her. 😅
I like how you see this scene foreshadows Rhaenyra becaming the cruel one. She just casually ordered burning out of strongholds ressisting her with all people inside and when Baela protest she is like, Yeah, that's a war, be strong and listen to me. 😅
Ulf is so rude, how can they not forsee his nature??
Cause hes probably drunk?
He's rude because all of his life has seen from afar people of his own family living a way more luxurious and easier life. And now he's sitting at the queen's table talking about how to win a war with dragon.
It's completely understandable his rudeness.
@@cristinademartini6653 No, its not understandable. Hugh and Adam were in the same position as he was but they didnt allow themselves to act like that. hugh lost his daughter- if there is anyone that should be angry at life its Hugh. Heck even Adam seeing his father all his life being his boss up close even knowing full well but pretends he doesnt know him or care about him. @@sabgogo7393he’s basically sitting there. No dragon no allies and outnumbered - she should have put him in his place right there.
I feel they will make changes to the story. Ulf is definetly going to betray rhaenyra. I know in the books ulf and hugh both betray her, but maybe in the show hugh wont because he has been more behaved and mature compared to ulf plust hugh is actually a targaryan bastard descendant from Rhaenyra's great aunt Saera, so to me it seems ulf will be the betrayer and I imagine Jacerys and addam of hull will end up killing ulf. I dunno. We shall see in season 3.
Honestly I feel Hugh is going through the motions the man lost his daughter and went to Dragonstone for a one way trip not really expecting to bond with Vermithor. So maybe Ulf will somehow convince him that they deserve more or Hugh becomes disillusioned with both sides and stats playing the Game of Thrones to give his family a better life after his death.
Or Hugh will be the most insufferable between them. Ulf's attitude is what you expect from his former status before he became a dragonrider which is why it's understandable. In the books, he's not even present at the second battle of tumbleton and did not fight Addam. He's just sleeping because he's so drunk.
Rhenera is gonna toast tubleton where hughs wife is.
Ulf definetely fits his book counterpart.
0 42 😅😅😅😅😅😅 As rude as that was, he nailed the delivery.
Poor little Ulf, thinking he can kill Vhagar. If a fight like that were to happen I will root for Aemond
Id have Ulf hung and wed try some more dragon seeds lol. What a tool.
I just can’t figure out why Silverwing chose Ulf. Silverwing’s last rider was good queen Alysanne. She was by all accounts pleasant, smart, just, courtly, and had integrity.
So why pick this gutter rat?
Ulf unable to read the room was getting on my nerves
He went from eating in the taverns to a castle.
@@cristinademartini6653 yeah but Hugh was a poor blacksmith and lost a child but still has self control.
@@majestic8054yes, but we have to consider that, in the show canon, one Hulf was raised by his mother who was king Jaeherys' exiled daughter: there she must have taught him how to behave and handle with royalty. Second, he met and handled with Aegon when asking for the anticipated payment of their works.
Most likely, ulf didn't have any of that: he had never really met royalty and perhaps he even doubted that his targaryen heritage was true before claiming (or rather, being claimed by)silverwing.
Hugh and Ulf are two very much different people, and that's what makes them very much interesting to me. Their (and Addam's) arcs are one of the few things that keeps me from ditching hotd.
With all the hate coming from this season and episode, I am only watching to see Hugh and Ulf get better endings than the book.
This is a guess, but Im thinking Jace will try to kill Ulf during the Gullet and fail hence "betraying" the blacks. Hugh will be forced to kill his family and "betray" the blacks too, going with the plot so far. Books are a different story.
@@ieatroots from the books they alone decide to betray her?
Hate is a strong word. You people don't even know what real hatred is. This is just entertainment afterall, no worth such huge emotions. Also, you cheer for this brat Ulf?
@@cautarepvp2079 from what I know, Hugh decides he wants to be king, Ulf was just generally greedy. Both were also generally written as bad people in general too which isnt portrayed much here. The show went for a different angle, which I would have probably liked more (since they made the characters more real) but it seems like they did it at the cost of changing the source material (the actual plot). Jace for example was the one who pushed for the dragonseeds since Rhaenyra went crazy from losing 2 children.

@@senister14 well, Addam serves Corlys Velaryon and House Velaryon serves Rhaenyra. No wonder he bent the knee at once, even when he was being accuse of "stealing" seasmoke.
For all thi season's faults, the writing of the dragonseeds' characters i found it topnotch. I'll watch hotd only for them, Aegon, Corlys and the dragons.
@cristinademartini6653 yes, but he owes no loyalty to Corlys. You even see his brother call Corlys out on it. Plus the story never took the time and ask what does Addam want? Maybe he doesn't want to be part of someone elses war. Maybe he jhst wants to live his own life. Yeah, I don't know where I stand, the characters and story have just been butchered so much it's hard to stay invested. I mean I still like Aemond and want to see Dalton grey joy, the dragon seeds are cool, even with them getting rid of Nettles for a storyline that will make no sense in the end. Thank God the rumor about Daeron targaryen wasn't true, which would have been really bad. I just don't know.
@@senister14 what rumor about daeron? (I'm already mad at Alicent's one being turned out as true)
*SPOILERS* I think I see what they're doing. Ulf will betray, Hugh will stay loyal, and they'll kill one another in Tumbleton.
They pretty much telegraphs it in this scene. If they change it they might keep Hugh loyal. The viewers can spot that Ulf will betray from the scene right off the bat. He has no loyalty. This is where the story is written to dumb down the Blacks. If we can see it so should Rhaenyra but she is a fictional character so they going to dumb her character down in order for her to lose. Repeat of GOT S8. She has the advantage, no way a real person be this dumb unless it's a fictional character written to be dumb.
I don't think hugh will stay loyal to Rhaenyra even in the show. Remember that she letterarly threw him and the other dragonseeds to the dragons' pit with her guards blocking the only way of exit and in this scene she only promised them knighthood and he even contested the high amount of victims in the following battle.
For me, hugh is like a silent and clever observer and that's what makes him more dangerous to Rhaenyra and the Blacks than the outspoken Ulf. The hugh-ulf combo will be very interesting to watch, second only to Aegon-Larys.
You have it the wrong way around. High will betray and Ulf will probably stay loyal.
The difference being Hugh has proven himself more likable in this instance. I had no problems with Ulf whatsoever until this last episode. That last shot of him too...its given me a bad feeling.
