His 3.5 out of 5 is absolute bullshit. Powerslave isn’t as good as Killers!?!?!? Give me a break. Somewhere in Time is also 5/5. He lost credibility with some of these Maiden critiques. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is better than Powerslave????😅😅😅😅
Probably my favorite. It's a polarizing record among Maiden fans but I don't know why. It's a good mix of classic sounding Maiden combined with newer sounding stuff and I can't find a weak spot on the album. My only issue with it would be that some of the tracks ended up sounding a lot better live at the first Rock in Rio.
My favorite of theirs and the album that turned me on to them in high school 20 years ago or so. If they have a perfect album Brave New World is it, to me.
Those first two albums are criminally underrated. The songwriting was great. Paul was great too. He was pretty much a Punk singer and they had such a raw sound.
Iron Maiden were one of my first true metal bands; not everything they’ve done is a hit, but when it is? It’s some of the best metal music ever made. Fun fact, my dad had a Number of the Beast flag from back in the early 80s when it first came out. He passed it down to me, and I still have it alongside his old Ozzy and Dio flags. Favorite Albums: Seventh Son, Number of the Beast, Killers, Brave New World Their new stuff is good, but their 80s material will always hold a place in my heart somewhere.

I really enjoy your reviews brother! It is so much like the wild metal discussions I have with my friends over the minutiae of different metal bands discography. I don't always agree with your opinions but more often than not I find myself concurring with a resounding "fuck yeah!" Your passion is contagious and it's great to see other people that are as obsessed with all types of metal as I am! The number of the beast is the best album ever written! Keep on killing it!

LOL @ giving Book same rating as classics, higher than first two. Wtf is wrong with AMOLAD and FF if you like Book so much? Blaze albums ridiculously low. Shitty ranking. You're an idiot.
No Prayer is absolutely weak. Not horrible, but compared to everything before it..... Still though, it does have some tracks that I love. Tailgunner, Fates Warning, and Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. All of which I'd give anything to see them play live these days.
I have a soft spot for “AMOLAD” partially because the ferocious, bone-crunching guitar sound on many of the tracks. To me, this album feels “heavier” than most of IM’s offerings. -fan since 1982
1. Iron Maiden 5/5 2. Somewhere in Time 5/5 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4.5/5 4. Piece of Mind 4.5/5 5. Powerslave 4/5 6. Killers 4/5 7. The Number of the Beast 3.5/5 8. Brave New World 3/5 9. DAMNN One of my favorite Bands ever 1. Self Titled (This was such a great, revolutionary and very punky sometimes proggy feeling. But amazing debut 9/10) 2 Killers (This was an improvement actually for me. I grew to really like this much more. Phenomenal album 9.5/10) 3. Number of the Beast (One of the most overrated albums ever. Has some of their best in the Prisoner, Title Track, Hollowed be Thy Name and worst tracks ever with Invaders and Gangland. But overall this is a good album 7/10) 4. Piece of Mind ( A MUCH better album Flight of Icarus, Revelations, Where Eagles Dare, the Trooper. Don’t like some to Tame a Land but everything else is great 9/10) 5. Powerslave (Their best album cover to me. I love every single track on here. Rime of the ancient Mariner might be my all time favorite track. Masterpiece 10/10) 6. Somewhere in Time (Iron Maiden turned full on Prog with this album. I do love the Production of this album, the adding of synths and experimenting really was unique and I love every song on here 10/10) 7. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Their Magnum Opus to me, Amazing Concepts, Their most complex. One of my favorite albums of all time 10/10) 8. No Prayer for the Dying (Their most disappointing album they ever made. This is Bruce’s Worst album. The album cover is bad, Bruce does not sound good. The songwriting was not good. I really don’t like this album 3.5/10) 9. Fear of the Dark (Fear is the Key, Be Quick or Be Dead, Fear of the Dark are amazing but the rest much like No Prayer is either ok or boring as shit. 5.5/10) 10. X Factor (Really Underrated album, Blaze is a Great singer but was not the best choice for Maiden. I love the Darkness of this album, some songs go on for too long. One of my problems with this and some of the future Maiden albums is it is too long, could have cut the fat here. But I really do appreciate this album a lot 9/10) 11. Virtual XI (This album is BORRRIINNNG, So much annoying repetition on this album *cough *cough Angel and the Gambler, The Clansman is the only great song. 4/10) 12. Brave New World (Flawless, one of my favorite Comeback albums ever. Dream of Mirrors one up there with Rime of the Ancient Mariner, 10/10) 13. Dance of Death (WTF IS THAT ALBUM COVER. But this album is pretty solid the Title Track, Paschendale, The Journeyman are great, this album had the unfortunate task of following Brave New World, 8.5/10) 14. A Matter of Life and Death (My 1st album I bought by Them. Love that album cover. I love and can easily listen to every song, and feel like it does not go on for too long this is a amazing album 10/10) 15. The Final Frontier (This album.....I just can’t get into it at all, this album puts me to sleep. Besides the Title Track nothing grabs my attention. It’s not a Terrible album but I feel like there is nothing interesting about this record. Very disappointing and Mediocre album. 5/10) 16. The Book of Souls (I used to be a HUGE fan of this album, used to think it was a Masterpiece. But this album goes on for wayyyyyy tooo long. It seems like they almost forced themselves to make some of these songs over 10 Minutes Long. The Production of this album I am not a huge fan of. Bruce vocally is inconsistent. But there are lots of good songs on here that save it from being mediocre 7.5/10)
Been a fan since the first album and agree with practically everything you said especially that the last couple haven't been great. The only thing I differ on is Powerslave which, for some reason has never been one of my favourites but still a great one though.
@@alibobsmarland9572 I don't have either one of Blaze era albums, because I don't really like his voice. I've heard some songs that are good though. Maybe one day I'll buy them and get used to his voice.
@@metalzonemt-2 If it helps, some of his more recent solo albums have been pretty decent. Guy's got a solid voice, Iron Maiden just didn't utilize it properly or allow him to spread his wings.
17. Virtual XI - 2.5/5 16. X-Factor - 2.75/5 15. No Prayer for the Dying - 3/5 14. Dance of Death - 3.5/5 13. Book of Souls - 3.5/5 12. Fear of the Dark - 3.5/5 11. Final Frontier - 4/5 10. A Matter of Life and Death - 4.5/5 9. Iron Maiden - 4.5/5 8. Senjutsu - 4.5/5 7. Brave New World - 5/5 6. Powerslave - 5/5 5. Killers - 5/5 4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 5/5 3. The Number of the Beast - 5/5 2. Piece of Mind - 5/5 1. Somewhere in Time - 5/5 Iron Maiden is my second favorite band of all time, as you can probably tell. I like every album at least a little. They are second place behind Alice In Chains as my favorite band
Wow! Maiden discography reviews greatly vary from reviewers like yourself but this is as close to my opinion about the band as I've seen. Spot on! The only difference for me is Powerslave is equally as strong if not stronger that Number and Piece but everything else is spot on. Bravo!
you were much nicer to maiden than I expected, but I agree with you almost 100%. I do like Fear of the Dark a little more than you I think, but I can't exactly argue with you about that one either. great video
1. Powerslave 2. Piece of mind 3. Number of the beast 4. Seventh son 5. Somewhere in time 6. Iron maiden 7. Brave new world 8. Killers 9. Dance of death 10. Fear of the dark 11. A matter of life and death 12. Senjutsu 13. The book of souls 14. The final frontier 15. No prayer for the dying 16. The X factor 17. Virtual XI
1. Piece of Mind 2. The Number of The Beast 3. Powerslave 4. Brave New World 5. Killers 6. Somewhere In Time 7. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 8. Iron Maiden 9. Dance of Death 10. A Matter of Life and Death 11. The Book of Souls 12. Fear of The Dark 13. The X Factor 14. The Final Frontier 15. No Prayer for The Dying 16. Virtual XI
1- Killers 2-Brave New World 3- Number of the Beast 4- Piece of Mind 5- Powerslave 6- Seventh son of a Seventh Son 7- Iron Maiden 8- Fear of The Dark (I know the fillers, but truth be told it didn’t started here and there are some of the best Maiden songs in between) 9- Dance of Death 10- No prayer for the dying 11- Somewhere in time 12- Book of Souls 13- The Final Frontier 14- Senjutsu 15- A matter of life and Death 16- X-Factor 17- Virtual XI
Great review! My top 3 would be 1. Powerslave 2. Number of the beast 3. SSOASS. I think people who are saying you act childish, or, immature are just the hard-core IM fans complaining that your favorite isn't Powerslave or that you don't like Fear of the dark. Great video.
Ok, Maiden are my favorite band so this is tough, but this is my provisional ranking: All God-Tier Albums: 1. Powerslave 2. A Matter of Life and Death 3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 4. Brave New World 5. Somewhere in Time 6. Piece of Mind 7. The Book of Souls 8. The Number of the Beast 9. Dance of Death 10. The X Factor 11. Killers 12. Iron Maiden There are a handful of great songs, but these are the Maiden albums I could live without: 13. The Final Frontier 14. No Prayer for the Dying 15. Fear of the Dark 16. Virtual XI For me, the point of a video like this isn't for you to agree with the reviewer 100% but for good analysis of the albums, and you did a great job at that. Regardless of one's feelings on The X Factor (I honestly think it's an underrated masterpiece despite its flaws), Sign of the Cross is one of 'Arry's greatest compositions imo and the Rock in Rio version is like one of the definitive Iron Maiden tracks for me. I think if they had written a better chorus for Invaders and swapped Gangland with Total Eclipse, NOTB would be a truly perfect album. And of course the title track and RTTH are great, but I've heard them so many times in my life that it's hard to get much enjoyment out of them these days. I also agree that The Book of Souls is up there with the best and its a shame not more people talk about it! That's the one album looking at this list that I think deserves a higher ranking if I were to redo it.
My favorites are Iron Maiden and Killers, I love the punk vibe of Di Anno. But I also love almost everything with Bruce, except Final Frontier and Matter of life. Blaze era is not for me.
Ah, come on. POWERSLAVE is their APEX in so many ways -- composition, arrangements, performances and production. But of course, it's all subjective. Bottom line. Everything from Number of the Beast to 7th Son is magnificent and after that, they were just repeating themselves. With a lousier sound.
I hate to be that guy, but the album that Maiden played in its entirely was "A Matter..." not BNW. I differ in some rankings but still great to hear your thoughts on albums like TFF and X Factor. My top5: 1. Seventh Son - Masterpiece 2. The Final Frontier - Faaar from being the perfect album, the first half its pretty weak asides from "Mother of Mercy", but the second half of the album is SOO GOOD, "Starblind" and "The Talisman" are my favourites. 3. Somewhere In Time - "Caught Somewhere in Time", "Sea of Madness", "Deja-Vù", so many forgotten gems in this one. 4. Powerslave - An album with "Aces High" and "Rime..." its bound to glory 5. Killers - Kinda love the raw and aggressive side of Maiden in this one and the production is perfect.
The OP is correct, AMOLAD is the only album they played front to back, which was an incredible and brave decision. The bootleg footage from the Uniondale show is terrific and of course led to the notorious moment where a fan brought a sign to the show saying "Play Classics," which Bruce took and ripped up on stage! It's a shame they didn't do the same with BNW because there are some real underrated gems from that album that have never been played live like The Thin Line Between Love and Hate.
Mostly agree but for my taste The Final Frontier changes ratings with The Book of Souls. Bruce's voice was better then. Final Frontier, Eldorado, Coming Home, Mother of Mercy, The Talisman, Starblind, When the Wild Wind Blows, The Man That Would be King... Great album !
Blasphemy! Powerslave is 10/10 1. Iron Maiden 8.5/10 2. Killers 9/10 3. Number of the Beast 9/10 4. Piece of Mind 9/10 5. Powerslave 10/10 6. Somewhere in time 7/10 7. Seventh Son 9.5/10 8. No Prayer 5/10 9. Fear of the Dark 6.5/10 10. X Factor 3/10 11. Virtual XI 1.5/10 12. Brave New World 9.5/10 13. Dance of Death 8/10 14. A Matter of Life and Death 7.5/10 15. Final Frontier 7/10 16. Book of Souls 8/10 17. Senjutsu 7/10
OK after watching the slayer reviews, this time I will comment BEFORE watching. Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera Killers - This guitar sound! The number of the beast - Can't listen to it anymore. But this is heavy metal history! Piece of Mind - It has always been my least favourite of their seven masterpieces, but lately I am changing my opinion. Powerslave - The perfect album Somewhere in time - Deja-Vu is my favourite Maiden song ever. And the atmosphere on this album is unique. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - My Favourite album of all time and my introduction to metal. No Prayer for the dying - Highly underrated! I would give everything if Maiden would still have that quality today. Fear of the Dark - Some amazing songs. A lot of really bad songs. Their less consistent album. The X-Factor - It took me 20 years. I hated it as hell. Then suddendly I understood it. That atmosphere... Virtual XI - Forget Blaze, forget the gambler. This album is amazing. Listen to "Don't look..." entirely. Maybe then you get it. Brave New World - If this would have come out ten years before, today we would talk about the 8 Maiden classics. Dance of Death - Some good moments, but a lot of formula-oriented song writing with a horrible production. A matter of life and death - Some amazing ideas played so often, that you get annoyed, followed by parts that have nothing to do with the rest, do not make a song. The Final Frontier - Is this meant seriously? How can anybody like this? The Book of souls - Loved it when it came out. After 3 times listening I was bored. Senjutsu - My expectations couldn't be lower
Great comments, I found someone who gets Maiden. but Brave New World is a classic album, people are starting to realize how good it is. Your take on no prayer is the same as mine, but I always loved the title song and Holy Smoke. Fear of the Dark have some wonderful songs like Judas be my Guide, I love Weekend Warrior and its AC/DC esque song, Bruce nails it. The later albums I don’t hate but they are very predictable and reminiscent of early works, but always have some great sounds scattered throughout them.
I’ve loved this band since The Number came out. I like Book of Souls and Frontier less than you, while I like A Matter, Fear, Powerslave and S/T more than you. Awesome video!
Iron Maiden - 7/10 Killers - 8/10 The Number of the Beast - 10/10 Piece of Mind - 8.5/10 Powerslave - 9/10 Somewhere In Time - 10/10 Seventh Son of A Seventh Son - 10/10 No Prayer For The Dying - 6.5/10 Fear of the Dark - 7/10 The X-Factor - 8/10 Virtual XI - 6/10 Brave New World - 8.5/10 Dance of Death - 8/10 A Matter of Life and Death - 7.5/10 The Final Frontier- 8/10 The Book of Souls - 9/10 And just for fun, I'm adding live albums Maiden Japan - 8/10 Beast Over Hammersmith - 9/10 Live After Death - 9.5/10 Maiden England - 10/10 Live At Donnington - 8/10 Rock in Rio - 10/10 Death on the Road - 8/10 Flight 666 - 10/10 En Vivo! - 8/10 The Book of Souls: Live Chapter - 9/10 (This tour was my first Maiden show, so I hold both the main album and live album in high regards) Nights of the Dead - 8/10

Masterpiece (10/10) 2.- Powerslave: My favourites: All songs. Definitely a Masterpiece. How forget when I heard for first time Aces High. 1.- Somewhere in Time: My favourites: All songs. The best songs Maiden have ever made are on this album, since Caught Somewhere in Time to Alexander the Great, It's a psychedelic trip. One of my favourite albums of all time. Definitely a Masterpiece (11/10).
"afraid to shoot strangers" is my favourite track from fear of the dark. The song structure and the guitar solos are amazing! ..other than that and the title track the album is a meh ..

From one metal youtuber to another, great vid. You have your own opinions but you're not a child about them... you present them in a mature way and don't pass them off as facts (cough cough rageaholic). I will say, Somewhere in Time is fittingly titled, because I think it has aged the best out of all Maiden albums and is... well... timeless. I recently gave the album another spin right after listening to UTA's Abyss and I can't believe the albums are 34 years apart. Heaven Can Wait feels like it was written 2 days ago. Anyways, liking this "album retrospective" series of yours. You should do one of these on Cannibal Corpse.
I always thought Bruce sounds like an opera singer. Then this one youtuber said Bruce has his womanly older voice in action. He always sips his vitamin drink at the start. Damn forgot his name. Getting old. I then realised Bruce sounds like Cher! Can you believe? Lol.
I'd say: Somewhere In Time, Killers and The X Factor are 10/10 7th Son is 9/10 Powerslave is 8/10 Debut, 666 and Piece of Mind are 7/10 The Book of Souls, Fear of the Dark and Brave New World are 6/10 Final Frontier, Senjutsu and A Matter of Life and Death and Dance of Death are 5/10 Virtual XI is 4/10 No Prayer is 3/10
Iron Maiden 3.5/5 Killers 3.5/5 Number of the beast 4.5/5 Piece of mind 5/5 Powerslave 4/5 Somewhere in time 5/5 Seventh son of a seventh son 5/5 No Prayer For The Dying 3/5 Fear of the dark 4/5 X Factor 3/5 Virtual XI 2/5 Brave new world 4/5 Dance of death 3.5/5 A matter of life and death 2.5/5 Final frontier 1.5/5 Book of souls 3/5 Senjutsu 3.5/5
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't love Powerslave as much as their other 80s work. Very good but the middle is a little weaker for me. I'm not even a big fan of Flash of the Blade tbh. Personally I'd swap the rating for Number of the Beast with Piece of Mind but fair enough lol
The 80's stuff was very good, especially the first five albums. After that, though, I really lost interest. The newest album, "Senjutsu" is an absolute snoozefest, as is most of the newer material.
How do you say that Killers an "improvement in songwriting" over Iron Maiden self titled album when the vast majority of it was already written but considered not good enough to make it onto the debut album as agreed by the band itself? Also it is far from consensus that "The Number of the Beast" is a really great album. Hallowed Be Thy Name may be the greatest metal song ever and it's the most agreed upon song among Maiden fans but to me most of the rest of the album I think is weak by Maiden standards. Also Iron Maiden's most iconic song is undeniably "The Trooper", and not "The Number of the Beast", they know it too, that's why it's on the beer bottle.
I know this is a review, but I'm gonna leave my ranking here (I love all of these albums) 16.The Book of Souls (just too long) 15.The Final Frontier (just too long) 14Somewhere in Time (not as memorable as others, and I find Stranger in a Strange Land and Alexander the Great to be overrated, good tracks but not as good as everyone says they are) 13.Virtual XI (strong tracks but not as memorable as others) 11.Fear of the Dark (underrated) 10.Dance of Death (Some really strong tracks with some good ones thrown in) 9.No Prayer for the Dying (really underrated, this used to be my number 1) 8.The Number of the Beast (overrated for me, legendary tracks are on this album, but I prefer the other ones more) 7.The X Factor (extremely underrated) 6.Iron Maiden (really memorable stuff on this album.) 5.Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (classic) 4.Powerslave (i feel like this album should be lower, but it always is ranked higher than i expect, but a really great album) 3.Brave New World (this one and AMOLAD can be switched depending on the mood or day) 2.A Matter of Life and Death (in my top favorite albums) 1.Piece of Mind 10/10 (favorite album of all time)
First of all, to say that Blaze just tried to copy Bruce Dickinson is wrong on every level, there is´nt much similiraties between their style of singing at all. Blaze also contributed with a decent amount of song writing, he was even involved in some of the songs that later appeared on Brave New World. Second of all, Iron Maiden did´nt only play songs from Brave New World while touring for that album. At most they played 8 out of 10 songs from that album + 10 classics.
Generally speaking the first weee pretty similar, last half not so much. I think they've overdone the Prog MAiden thing to the point of being boring. I don't hate it all, but I pretty much only like Brave New World and AMOLAD, and then just some bits of the other 3. I don't hear Blaze trying to sound like Bruce, but I don't like much like those records. My ranking: 1. Piece of Mind 2. Somewhere in time 3. Number of the Beasr 4. Killers 5. Powerslave 6. Iron Maiden 7. Fear of the Dark 8. Brave New World 9. A Matter of Life and Death 10. The Final Fronteir 11. No prayer for the dying 12. Seventh son 13. The X factor 14. Book of Souls 15. Dance of Death 16. Virtu XI 7th son has always turned me off.!
The two Di'Anno albums are very solid and great records, but there are very little songs on them that I would consider truly spectacular. This is their most overrated period in my view. They both sit around the range of 7 to a 7.5 out of 10 to me. The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, and Powerslave to me are all amazing records that have minor flaws, but I could see why they're all considered classics and highly regarded. They're all around a 9 to a 9.5. Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son are my two favorite records from them. Just two really great records that I consider masterpieces. The 90s I consider to be their weakest and poorest era by far. No Prayer for the Dying is their worst record. While there are good tracks on here, nothing here that would come close to being one of their best songs. It could have been a good album because there are decent guitar riffs and basslines here and there, but for some reason they wanted to play in this style that they seemed to have already been past. Bruce's raspy vocal performance wasn't helping matters either. (4.5/10). Fear of the Dark is their best record for the 90s and has some great tracks such as the title track and Afraid to Shoot Strangers, but it's brought down because it has some of the worst Iron Maiden songs like Weekend Warrior and From Here to Eternity (6/10). The X Factor is a mixed bag because while it does have one of my favorite songs on it with The Sign of the Cross, about half the songs here are pretty uninspired (5.5/10). Virtual XI is another mixed bag, but it does have the Clansman (5/10). After the 90s, comes the modern era which is tied for my favorite era along with the 80s. Brave New World is an amazing return to form that has many of my favorite tracks from them that it's pretty difficult to pick a favorite (10/10). Dance of Death while the weakest of the newer era, is still a really enjoyable and fun record (7.5/10). A Matter of Life and Death while having kind of a dire atmosphere with all the heavy subject matter, never feels too long of a record to me. All the tracks flow really well and this record has some of their best and heaviest riffs (10/10). The Final Frontier gets a lot of flak from what I see, but I love this record. It's their proggiest album, but there's a lot of great melodies and guitar work (8.5 to possibly even a light 9). The Book of Souls is my 3rd favorite record from the band and my favorite of the newer era. I'm probably the only one who feels this highly about it, but whenever I play this record, it always goes by pretty quick. Plus, Empire of the Clouds is my favorite song. Top 5 records for me: Somewhere in Time, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Book of Souls, Brave New World, and A Matter of Life and Death. Great video!
You like your Maiden prog judging by your favorites. But in no way the first two albums are overrated, if anything they are underrated. Killers is perfect, powerful and fun in a way that Iron seldom manage to be. My favs are listed in the comment section, and it comes a surprise that my 1st is Killers and my 2nd is Brave New World
Iron Maiden - 8 Killers - 8,5 The Number of the Beast - 9 Piece of Mind - 9,25 Powerslave - 9,5 Somewhere in Time - 10 Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - 9,75 No Prayer for the Dying - 7,75 Fear of the Dark - 8,75 The X Factor - 7 Virtual XI - 5,5 Brave New World - 8,5 Dance of Death - 8,25 A Matter of Life and Death - 7 The Final Frontier - 7,5 The Book of Souls - 8,5 Senjutsu - 7,75
March 16th 1983, do you review your videos before before you post them. The date is wrong on Piece of mind. Also Hallowed be thy name is the best song hands down. Maybe you need to stop waving your arms and pay better attention.
I’m glad I finally found one with the same meh opinion on Powerslave. Not bad, but I don’t feel it as much as the ones before or after. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son, Piece Of Mind and Number Of The Beast are my top 3 by Maiden. But The Book of Souls really didn’t do it for me, too bloated and over-stretched songs mostly, but Empire of the Clouds did it right and If Eternity Should Fail was genuinely great. X Factor I really like for some strange reason, more than FOTD and NPFTD, and Virtual VI don’t fucking remind me!
I agree with you on Powerslave. The first two songs and the last two songs are absolute monsters but everything in between? Meh. For my money, I find it hard to understand how that album can be so high-regarded when the middle of it is somewhat of a letdown. I consider it to be one of Maidens most overrated albums to date. I LOVE The Book Of Souls though!
To me all the first Seven albums are awesome, specially Killers and Powerslave, after Adrian Smith left it all went to shit in my opinion, No Prayer For The diying and Fear Of The Dark are terrible albums, and X-Factor and Virtual XI are even worse. Thank god they released A Brave New World, although i think it's really overrated, i'd probably give it a 7/10, dont care for Dance of Death and A Matter of Life And Death, and The Final Frontier is a pile of shit, The Book Of Souls is pretty good though, kinda underated.
Iron maiden 8/10 Killers 6/10 Number of the beast 10/10 Piece of mind 7/10 Powerslave 10/10 Somewhere in time 7/10 Seventh Son 9/10 No prayer for the dying 6/10 Fear of the dark 6/10 X factor 4/10 Virtual XI 3/10 Brave new world 5/10 Dance of death 6/10 Matter of life and death 4/10 Final frontier 4/10 Book of souls 6/10
X factor is criminally underrated/appriciated....IMO it's miles better than NP and FOD. Not sure it's a masterpiece (although Sign of the cross is) but it deserves at least a 3.5. Never understood the thing against Blaze, sure he ain't no Bruce but especially on this record he is doing a very decent job.
Powerslave is 5/5
His 3.5 out of 5 is absolute bullshit. Powerslave isn’t as good as Killers!?!?!? Give me a break. Somewhere in Time is also 5/5. He lost credibility with some of these Maiden critiques. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is better than Powerslave????😅😅😅😅
Powerslave is fire. But my two faves are Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son...
@@toddapplegate I'd say SSOASS is on the same level as Powerslave. Each of them a 4.5/5.
I agree, number of the beast 4/5,piece of mind 4.5/5, powerslave 5/5, probably their best album.
@toddapplegate it's his opinion my friend. I love Powerslave but I think it's 4.5/5
I'm glad you gave Brave New World a high score. That's easily one of my favorite Maiden records.
Find enjoyment in every single album 🍺 one of the bands that got me into metal in the first place! Up the irons 🤟
QUESTY!!!!! This guy is actually more annoying than you 😂😂😂
Love your channel dude
"If you're not singing this song in your head right now..." Me: "Damn he caught me"
I haven't finished Maidens discography yet but at this point my personal favourite from them is Somewhere in Time
Those first two albums are criminally underrated.
Favorite Albums: Seventh Son, Number of the Beast, Killers, Brave New World
Their new stuff is good, but their 80s material will always hold a place in my heart somewhere.

Give this band a try it’s dope as hell
I’m glad someone put the effort into doing this. Great review!

Good ranking, but: 4 - wtf happened there?

Love Iron Maiden and got all their albums. Saw them on their first ever tour supported by Praying Mantis back in 1980. First two albums are awesome!
Amazing reviews of the albums. Best part is you really felt pretty fair on reviewing Maiden’s work.

17. Virtual XI 0.5/5
It is true, Iron Maiden's consistency across several decades is beyond impressive! How do they do it?
DAMNN One of my favorite Bands ever
1. Self Titled (This was such a great, revolutionary and very punky sometimes proggy feeling. But amazing debut 9/10)
2 Killers (This was an improvement actually for me. I grew to really like this much more. Phenomenal album 9.5/10)
3. Number of the Beast (One of the most overrated albums ever. Has some of their best in the Prisoner, Title Track, Hollowed be Thy Name and worst tracks ever with Invaders and Gangland. But overall this is a good album 7/10)
4. Piece of Mind ( A MUCH better album Flight of Icarus, Revelations, Where Eagles Dare, the Trooper. Don’t like some to Tame a Land but everything else is great 9/10)
5. Powerslave (Their best album cover to me. I love every single track on here. Rime of the ancient Mariner might be my all time favorite track. Masterpiece 10/10)
6. Somewhere in Time (Iron Maiden turned full on Prog with this album. I do love the Production of this album, the adding of synths and experimenting really was unique and I love every song on here 10/10)
7. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Their Magnum Opus to me, Amazing Concepts, Their most complex. One of my favorite albums of all time 10/10)
8. No Prayer for the Dying (Their most disappointing album they ever made. This is Bruce’s Worst album. The album cover is bad, Bruce does not sound good. The songwriting was not good. I really don’t like this album 3.5/10)
9. Fear of the Dark (Fear is the Key, Be Quick or Be Dead, Fear of the Dark are amazing but the rest much like No Prayer is either ok or boring as shit. 5.5/10)
10. X Factor (Really Underrated album, Blaze is a Great singer but was not the best choice for Maiden. I love the Darkness of this album, some songs go on for too long. One of my problems with this and some of the future Maiden albums is it is too long, could have cut the fat here. But I really do appreciate this album a lot 9/10)
11. Virtual XI (This album is BORRRIINNNG, So much annoying repetition on this album *cough *cough Angel and the Gambler, The Clansman is the only great song. 4/10)
12. Brave New World (Flawless, one of my favorite Comeback albums ever. Dream of Mirrors one up there with Rime of the Ancient Mariner, 10/10)
13. Dance of Death (WTF IS THAT ALBUM COVER. But this album is pretty solid the Title Track, Paschendale, The Journeyman are great, this album had the unfortunate task of following Brave New World, 8.5/10)
14. A Matter of Life and Death (My 1st album I bought by Them. Love that album cover. I love and can easily listen to every song, and feel like it does not go on for too long this is a amazing album 10/10)
15. The Final Frontier (This album.....I just can’t get into it at all, this album puts me to sleep. Besides the Title Track nothing grabs my attention. It’s not a Terrible album but I feel like there is nothing interesting about this record. Very disappointing and Mediocre album. 5/10)
The Prisoner is the most underrated Iron Maiden song ever.
@@metalzonemt-2 Some of the Blaze tracks are the most underrated. Como Estais Amigos, Blood on the World's Hands and Fortunes of War are classics.
17. Virtual XI - 2.5/5
16. X-Factor - 2.75/5
15. No Prayer for the Dying - 3/5
14. Dance of Death - 3.5/5

1. Somewhere in Time - 5/5
Iron Maiden is my second favorite band of all time, as you can probably tell. I like every album at least a little. They are second place behind Alice In Chains as my favorite band
So happy to see love for Dance of Death. Easily my favourite post-Seventh Son release.
I do like Fear of the Dark a little more than you I think, but I can't exactly argue with you about that one either. great video
Is the audio out of sync or am I crazy?
1. Powerslave
2. Piece of mind
3. Number of the beast
4. Seventh son
5. Somewhere in time
6. Iron maiden
7. Brave new world
8. Killers
9. Dance of death

12. Senjutsu
13. The book of souls
14. The final frontier
15. No prayer for the dying
16. The X factor
17. Virtual XI
Pretty good ranking. However, last three deserve to be above the penultimate three if only for the reason that they're not absurdly long and unedited.
Totally agree with your assessment of Fear of the Dark both the song and the album.
1. Piece of Mind
2. The Number of The Beast
3. Powerslave
4. Brave New World
5. Killers
6. Somewhere In Time

I liked you list.
1- Killers
2-Brave New World
3- Number of the Beast
4- Piece of Mind
5- Powerslave
6- Seventh son of a Seventh Son
7- Iron Maiden
8- Fear of The Dark (I know the fillers, but truth be told it didn’t started here and there are some of the best Maiden songs in between)
9- Dance of Death
10- No prayer for the dying
11- Somewhere in time
12- Book of Souls
13- The Final Frontier
14- Senjutsu
15- A matter of life and Death
16- X-Factor
17- Virtual XI
Great review! My top 3 would be 1. Powerslave 2. Number of the beast 3. SSOASS. I think people who are saying you act childish, or, immature are just the hard-core IM fans complaining that your favorite isn't Powerslave or that you don't like Fear of the dark. Great video.
Ok, Maiden are my favorite band so this is tough, but this is my provisional ranking:
All God-Tier Albums:
1. Powerslave
2. A Matter of Life and Death
3. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
4. Brave New World
5. Somewhere in Time
6. Piece of Mind
7. The Book of Souls
8. The Number of the Beast
9. Dance of Death
10. The X Factor
11. Killers
12. Iron Maiden
There are a handful of great songs, but these are the Maiden albums I could live without:
13. The Final Frontier
14. No Prayer for the Dying
15. Fear of the Dark
16. Virtual XI
For me, the point of a video like this isn't for you to agree with the reviewer 100% but for good analysis of the albums, and you did a great job at that.
I would be concerned if people agreed with me 100% of the time. Plus its more fun to debate so long as it remains healthy. Glad you enjoyed!
Where is TFF?
How would you rate Senjutsu?
I gave it a 3/5 when it came out and I stand by that
I'm a bit salty that you didn't mention Hallowed Be Thy Name on The Number Of The Beast review...........lol
It was Matter of Life and Death that they played live in their entirety, not Brave New World
Is this voice dubbed?
Piece of Mind, The Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son are my favourites. Brave New World and Book of Souls - so underrated albums.
1:26 - Me about every IM's record production. Well, aside from The Number or X Factor...
My favorites are Iron Maiden and Killers, I love the punk vibe of Di Anno. But I also love almost everything with Bruce, except Final Frontier and Matter of life. Blaze era is not for me.
Are you going to review álbums of WASP and Thin lizzy?
Not planning on it, but if theres enough demmand for it we'll see.
What happened with the audio here lol.
Can you please do Judas Priest? I would love to hear your thoughts on stained class or defenders of the faith!
Perhaps... perhaps sometime soon, even...
My top5:
1. Seventh Son - Masterpiece
4. Powerslave - An album with "Aces High" and "Rime..." its bound to glory
5. Killers - Kinda love the raw and aggressive side of Maiden in this one and the production is perfect.
Did they not play "Brave New World" in its entirety though?...huh, maybe I got it backwards then...
@@ryangioia2358 ok so I'm at least half-right then lol, thanks for the clear-up.
Blasphemy! Powerslave is 10/10
1. Iron Maiden 8.5/10
2. Killers 9/10
3. Number of the Beast 9/10
4. Piece of Mind 9/10
5. Powerslave 10/10
6. Somewhere in time 7/10
7. Seventh Son 9.5/10
8. No Prayer 5/10
9. Fear of the Dark 6.5/10
10. X Factor 3/10
11. Virtual XI 1.5/10
12. Brave New World 9.5/10
13. Dance of Death 8/10
14. A Matter of Life and Death 7.5/10
15. Final Frontier 7/10
16. Book of Souls 8/10
17. Senjutsu 7/10
Got to update this video now to include Senjutsu.. another great one imo
No need to redo/update this in my opinion. I gave Senjutsu a 3/5 when it came out and I stand by that.
OK after watching the slayer reviews, this time I will comment BEFORE watching.
Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera
Killers - This guitar sound!
The number of the beast - Can't listen to it anymore. But this is heavy metal history!
Piece of Mind - It has always been my least favourite of their seven masterpieces, but lately I am changing my opinion.
Powerslave - The perfect album
Somewhere in time - Deja-Vu is my favourite Maiden song ever.

Nights of the Dead - 8/10
Gay ranking.
If the purpose of metal album artwork is to disturb the viewer, then Dance of Death has outdone almost every other band ever, regardless of genre.
My ranking:
17.-Virtual XI: My favourites: Futureal and Clansman ; Least favourite: The Angel and the Gambler and Lightning Strikes Twice. It's good but could have been better (4.5/10)
16.- No Prayer for the Dying: My favourites: Tailgunner and Run Silent Run Deep ; Least favourite: The Titletrack and The Assassin. Underrated, but mediocre. (5.0/10)
15.- Fear of the Dark: My favourites: Be Quick or be Dead, Wasting Love and titletrack ; Least Favourite: Fear is the Key, Weekend Warrior and The Fugitive. Five or six good songs, the rest unnecessary filler. Inconsistent album. (5.5/10)
14.- The X Factor: My favourites: Sign of the Cross, Man on the Edge and The Aftermath ; Least Favourite: Lord of the Files and Fortunes of War. Great and underrated album, I had to listen many times to like it. (6.5/10)

Up the irons!
Planning on doing more very soon!
Piece of mind ¡!!!!!!! Love maiden , best metal band ever !
I always thought Bruce sounds like an opera singer. Then this one youtuber said Bruce has his womanly older voice in action. He always sips his vitamin drink at the start. Damn forgot his name. Getting old. I then realised Bruce sounds like Cher! Can you believe? Lol.
I'd say:
Somewhere In Time, Killers and The X Factor are 10/10
7th Son is 9/10
Powerslave is 8/10
Debut, 666 and Piece of Mind are 7/10
The Book of Souls, Fear of the Dark and Brave New World are 6/10
Final Frontier, Senjutsu and A Matter of Life and Death and Dance of Death are 5/10
Virtual XI is 4/10
No Prayer is 3/10
That shirt is awesome. Are you Canadian?
Yeeeeup, from Toronto.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial \m/ Nice! Newfoundlander here.

Senjutsu 3.5/5
I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't love Powerslave as much as their other 80s work. Very good but the middle is a little weaker for me. I'm not even a big fan of Flash of the Blade tbh.
Personally I'd swap the rating for Number of the Beast with Piece of Mind but fair enough lol
I think you and I together ARE the only ones though, everyone else is head over heels in love with "Powerslave" ahah
Review every def Leppard album
I know this is a review, but I'm gonna leave my ranking here (I love all of these albums)
16.The Book of Souls (just too long)
15.The Final Frontier (just too long)
14Somewhere in Time (not as memorable as others, and I find Stranger in a Strange Land and Alexander the Great to be overrated, good tracks but not as good as everyone says they are)
13.Virtual XI (strong tracks but not as memorable as others)
11.Fear of the Dark (underrated)
10.Dance of Death (Some really strong tracks with some good ones thrown in)
9.No Prayer for the Dying (really underrated, this used to be my number 1)
8.The Number of the Beast (overrated for me, legendary tracks are on this album, but I prefer the other ones more)
7.The X Factor (extremely underrated)
6.Iron Maiden (really memorable stuff on this album.)
5.Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (classic)
4.Powerslave (i feel like this album should be lower, but it always is ranked higher than i expect, but a really great album)
3.Brave New World (this one and AMOLAD can be switched depending on the mood or day)
2.A Matter of Life and Death (in my top favorite albums)
1.Piece of Mind 10/10 (favorite album of all time)
I’m glad to find another AMOLAD lover. The mood and message and emotions resonate with me so much.
Powerslave is god-tier, and The X Factor is underrated
Queensryche, Fates Warning , Dream Theater.... among others.... Progressive metal before 7th son
All the best metal albums were released before he was born
Ok boomer
Generally speaking the first weee pretty similar, last half not so much. I think they've overdone the Prog MAiden thing to the point of being boring. I don't hate it all, but I pretty much only like Brave New World and AMOLAD, and then just some bits of the other 3.
I don't hear Blaze trying to sound like Bruce, but I don't like much like those records.
My ranking:
1. Piece of Mind
2. Somewhere in time
3. Number of the Beasr
4. Killers
5. Powerslave
6. Iron Maiden
7. Fear of the Dark
8. Brave New World
9. A Matter of Life and Death
10. The Final Fronteir
11. No prayer for the dying
12. Seventh son
13. The X factor
14. Book of Souls
15. Dance of Death
16. Virtu XI
7th son has always turned me off.!
Iron Maiden's 'Live After Death' is the best 'Live' metal album of all.
God it really is - live albums are always a tough sell for me but damn thats a great record.
I like rock in rio more but def up there
You compare Bayley to Dio?! 😂😂
Controversial opinion, NUMBER OF THE BEAST IS 3.5 OF 5
Paul wasn’t fired because he wasn’t good enough he was fired for being a drunk and he’s far from a “one dimensional singer”
To me (in the moment):
Best: Powerslave
Worst: The X Factor
Oh by the way Im a boy I just use my sister's account
My favs are listed in the comment section, and it comes a surprise that my 1st is Killers and my 2nd is Brave New World
Iron Maiden - 8
Killers - 8,5
The Number of the Beast - 9
Piece of Mind - 9,25
Powerslave - 9,5
Somewhere in Time - 10

No Prayer for the Dying - 7,75
Fear of the Dark - 8,75
The X Factor - 7

Brave New World - 8,5
Dance of Death - 8,25
A Matter of Life and Death - 7
The Final Frontier - 7,5
The Book of Souls - 8,5
Senjutsu - 7,75
Fckin fanboy
Anything with gangland on it is not perfect
Invaders? Gangland? The Prisoner? Look, Numbers has a bunch of filler. It's not a 5/5
I disagree 🤷♀️
back to back bangers in my opinion
March 16th 1983, do you review your videos before before you post them. The date is wrong on Piece of mind. Also Hallowed be thy name is the best song hands down. Maybe you need to stop waving your arms and pay better attention.
Maybe you need to calm down and look up 'mistake' in the dictionary 🤷♀️
Book of souls underrated? Everyone sucks this album’s balls.
Iron maiden 8/10
Killers 6/10
Number of the beast 10/10
Piece of mind 7/10
Powerslave 10/10
Somewhere in time 7/10
Seventh Son 9/10
No prayer for the dying 6/10
Fear of the dark 6/10
X factor 4/10
Virtual XI 3/10
Brave new world 5/10
Dance of death 6/10
Matter of life and death 4/10
Final frontier 4/10
Book of souls 6/10
I find NOTB to be overrated. Aside from the 2 or 3 classics, its mostly filler type stuff.
Notice how you didn’t mention Invaders, 22 Acacia Avenue, or Gangland even once..that’s because those three tracks all suck. 😎
Dude you started well but then you started acting really childish and immature, grow up a good bit and come back and see us
First nine albums excellent. X-factor was good, Virtual XI-excellent. Brave New World-good, Dance of Death sucked. The last few albums were okay.
You're an absolute idiot.
Number of the beast overrated. Piece of mind, power slave and somewhere in time are better.
I prefer Judas Priest ! Iron Maiden is good but Judas Priest is another level.
Judas Priest is amazing for sure, but I don't know if I could pick between the two, not easily at least. Love 'em both to hell and back!
X factor is a masterpiece. Get over it
I disagree, deal with it.
No thanks 😚
X factor is criminally underrated/appriciated....IMO it's miles better than NP and FOD. Not sure it's a masterpiece (although Sign of the cross is) but it deserves at least a 3.5. Never understood the thing against Blaze, sure he ain't no Bruce but especially on this record he is doing a very decent job.
the number of the beast is so overrated
First 2 albums are the best
These guys are 100% the most overrated band in history. Nobody even comes close
Somewhere in time and seventh son are perfect albums.
Yes
