Today I'm going to cover the herbs that have the most antioxidants. Out of all of the categories of foods, herbs are at the top of this list as far as the antioxidants they provide. Antioxidants are additional health benefits to the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in food. This would also include phytonutrients.
Fresh herbs that contain the most antioxidants:
1. Oregano
• Oregano is antimicrobial
2. Sage
• Sage supports the parasympathetic nervous system and inhibits the sympathetic nervous system
3. Peppermint
• Peppermint may be good for your digestive system
4. Thyme
• Thyme is antimicrobial
5. Lemon balm
• Lemon balm may help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote sleep
6. Rosemary
• Rosemary is antimicrobial, and rosemary oil may help stimulate hair growth
Powdered herbs that contain the most antioxidants:
1. Clove
• Clove is antimicrobial, it has powerful antiparasitic actions, and it has a numbing agent that might be beneficial for a toothache
2. Allspice
• Allspice can be good for pain and inflammation
3. Cinnamon
• Cinnamon can be especially good for blood sugar issues

Thanks for watching! I hope this enlightens you on the herbs that contain the most antioxidants.
I'm 70 from Europe. We used to carry and chew cloves to keep our breath fresh
Wow!! How interesting, in America we carry tums to chew on. It’s quite sad how America makes so much money off meds when they know herbs work better
@@Sabrina11113
You are right. I live in America now. People here just started learning things that different cultures around the world have passed the information to the next generation.
Uhhh yeah, many eons ago they had a clove, spruce spearmint and peppermint gum! I believe licorice too.
Amazon I believe has clove gum
We do the exact thing in Nepal. Especially after meals
Bulgarian
i am so blessed i have all these fresh herbs in my garden and sometimes i just mix all and make a pot of tea
You really are..
@@science-y9209 thank you and yes God is great
Nice........
Precious
I have been drinking tea with loquat leaf, olive leaf, firethorn leaf, green tea, cinnamon, lemongrass, galangal, turmeric root, and a single dried plum, everyday multiple refills, for several months, while on nutritional keto and IF. So far I have lost 28kg. The first 3 ingredients all help with blood sugar especially. I had IR and was borderline diabetic. Now doing much, much better. Never going back. I am 58 years young and getting younger.
man I really had no idea that I can live more than 12 hours without eating now I do 24rs fasting everyday single meal the energy I feel is great I really appreciate every content you make it changed my live thank you
24 hours fasting everyday?
@@annika9348 yes after few days you wont even feel the hunger ever just drink coffee and water or tea as he recommended you will feel great energy
@@MrHasooooni that's unhealthy
These herbs also enhance your fasting capabilities. Eat plenty on last meal.
You cannot fast 24 hours a day. If that was the case you’d not be eating at all. What you are doing is OMAD - one meal a day. It may take half an hour to an hour to eat as it’s going to be a fairly big meal. So, allowing time for the meal to work into the digestive process would give around 23 hours fasting time.
I like cilantro as it helps remove heavy metals from your body. Plus I just love the taste of it!
Just wanted to let you know that your videos/topics NEVER get old so I am here watching a 2 year old video out of Germany, because I just learned about the powerful effect of Oregano oil.
You changed my life and continue to improve it!!! Thank you for all the free education
Clove essential oil has highest ORAC value.
I use 2-3 drops of each of these oils: clove, oregano, thyme in a vegetable capsule for FIRST signs of a UTI, sore throat, whatever. Sometimes I add lemon for the lymph system.
Great suggestions Dr. Berg!!
Thanks. But then, what happens with your sore throat?
@Helene Vion 😳😁💪
Do you have to put the oils in a capsule? Or is it fine to just mix in with a shot of water? I wonder if in a shot of 100% blue agave tequila would b fine....heeheehee...
Do you use clove oils in water?
Cloves Do ! And I went to both hear & talk to the MD who wrote the "Alzheimer's Cook Book" years ago ! Great guy & fantastic book !
Why say Orega-no when you can say Orega-yes?
Thanks Doc, for the Sage advice!
Great points.....
Rosemary is a very good antioxidant. I would also include nettle and curly leaf parsley. Herbs are a tremendous help in supporting our health.
And that’s a fact I have taking it every day for a month now I feel great!!!
Gratings from Singapore you are beyond anyone’s thoughts and everyone’s need you have treasure knowledge thank you so much
💙💙💙
My pleasure!
Just now i commented about make a video on veggies and spices..he just done a video in 10 min...legend...literally..🔥🔥🔥
Cloves are very good. I always have a cup of hot cloves tea everyday with cinnamon rolls without sugar in the morning or evening. And always put Oregano, Thyme, or Rosemary on my dish.
Agreed and that sounds nice.
yep👍
Dr. Berg, your videos are always so informative, concise, and the wealth of information you share is clearly explained… Thank you! The link is missing for the free course on bulletproofing the immune system
I have mint in my garden and I love it, goes best with green tea or with lemon water.
What about parsley!
Oregano regulates the thyroids too!
How funny because I have hyperthyroidism and I crave thyme often
I've found ashwaganda root balances my hormones or my thyroid one or other,it definitely helps my mood and stops my palpations
@@businesstofu3079 I took a cap of oregano oil and the next day felt like a rag doll im hyperthyroid
Interesting..where are you getting your information from? I am hypo and I'm interested in checking this out? I googled, but didn't find anything. Could you help? TIA 🙂👍

Thank you Sir. 😊
I enjoy peppermint tea after meals!
Clove appears to be very powerful. 💫
Very helpful tips doctor. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the information. I love cinnamon with warm milk and honey and adding a pinch when cooking brown rice gives the rice a special flavor. Nutmeg tea can make you sleepy, and there is the need to be careful to not overdue it. I use all those herbs, including anise seeds.
Another amazing video. Thanks Dr.💖💖💖
Good morning great information!
Loved this Video. 💓
Absolutely awesome
Thank you so much Doc...
May I ask have you ever tried fresh cranberries blended with lemons? It really makes my circulation feel great and opens up my lungs, wonderful video,I love when you talk about natural remedies❤️
Sage is great for combating hot 🥵 flashes.
Oregano , coriander and Cinnamon 👍...I know Cinnamon is a spice but still good for you .
Hi Dr. Berg! I was wondering, do you color your hair? Will you make a video on that? Please add a comment :)
Basil should be on the list doc? Especially Thai basil.. gets me tingly thinking about it

Anytime!
I think moringa is best of all.
Good morning good info
Very glad to be of help.
Fantastic!
Thank you...🌷
I have a pot of dried Oregano, half a teaspoon goes on food periodically - hopefully some benefits.
Note the difference between real Ceylon cinnamon from Sri Lanka and cassia cinnamon from Indonesia which provides the flavour, but not the blood sugar regulation benefits of real cinnamon.
Actually they both have similar health benefits but the cassia has a very large amount of Coumarin which is very dangerous to both the kidneys and liver
I have been having a cup if warm water each day with Ceylon cinnamon and ACV. Been on this regimen for about 4 months. Digestion doing great.
Grateful for your videos. Note:the Cinnamon that you show in this video is the Chinese one, not very healthy. The Cinnamon from Ceylon and India is much healthier, and has more spirals and it is softer and easier to grind or break.
Good data! Thank you. What about the essential oils of these herbs? Its not dried or fresh, but is concentrated, so do i treat it as fresh or dried and why?
Thank you!
You're welcome!
THANK YOU GREAT
thank you Dr. Berg, you have been instrumental as a teacher, supporting this veteran, in being Dr. Me, for many years.
BEST VIDEO EVER......I MIX OREGONO OIL ,THYME OIL,CLOVE OIL,PEPPERMINT OIL, AND LEMONGRASS OIL.
Chocolate! (I do not care what anyone says, Cacao is herb too).
😂 lol you just have to put your favorite there to justify your " addiction" ♥️
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣
Very informative
Very glad to be of help.
Thyme...is on my side
Yes, it is! 😊
lol, I like that.
Oh yeah 😏, thyme waits for no man

Dr Berg please can you make a video on seasoning and if we should worry about using them as much as we like, thanks
I just started grinding cloves and putting them in tea last week.
Make sure it's quality matcha green tea, put some lemon, cinnamon, cloves powder and a pinch of salt and then you're gucci
@@mop4093 Ceremonial grade is way expensive, culinary grade is more in my range, is that good enough stuff?
@@hannabaal150 it is already much better then ordinary green tea, just not some bad matcha is what u want to look for so that works

ANYONE can grow Oregano in a pot on your window sill or patio. I add dried oregano to every meal I prepare. Never get sick.
Thanks
Doctor make a video about topical things that improve the condition of the skin, moisturize it and delay aging
Saja Imran, he has a video but don't know title. He says topical ointments are a waste if money . No good. Best to eat foods that stimulate collagen and bone broth, among others. Maybe look for video bout " skin dr Berg "
Dr Berg, what do you think about Hibiscus flower? Do you recomend to use when doing keto? 🙂
Thank you, Dr. Berg. Amazing information! It would have been very good if tell us how much we can take per day.
Hi there! Dr. Berg might recommend a type of supplement but does not get into specifics- you'll have to do this research yourself.

Oregano grows like a weed. Planted three and nearly two decades later still in that spot growing. Taste and abundant source for your sauce.
Thank you
@Ter Leenm
Thanks for watching!
Great video
Glad to know you liked it!
Hey Eric, is taking it in tincture form equivalent to fresh form? Thanks in advance
Question? When the food is fried, does it loose proteins and vitamins. Oregano is use to cook chicken. Thank you!
Thanks dr berg from indonesia
Dr Berg, Thank you so much haven’t thought that sage is prt of the family, what about turmeric and 🌶? Thanks
Thankyou
What’s the dosage quantity for the data? Is it a teaspoon? A gram? Just wanting to know how much of whatever listed equals the antioxidant equivalent. Herbs are very powerful and if one consumes too many herbs or too much of a particular herb in at once, one can have adverse short-term reactions and some medications are sensitive to some herbs. One should always start with lower quantities of an herb to assess the effect on the body, before going with a larger dose.
Love the channel, and thank you in advance for your response.
Hi! Dr. Berg might recommend a type of supplement/nutrient but does not get into specifics - you'll need to do a bit more research on this.

Please use caution when taking herbs.
Check for any allergies (you can find the plant family these herbs are from).
Use as directed on package or in a tea form.
Great info.
👏👏Thanks
You're welcome!
Thank you Dr berg for all the great info, do you have any recommendations to help increase my energy levels and concentration?
@ Shailin Nayanah I personally use a supplement called Anti-Fatigue (Hanna’s Herbs). I also use a Young Living essential oil blend called En-R-Gee along with Clarity, if I need to stay focused such as driving long distances. I have extreme caffeine sensitivity, so these are my go to’s.

Hi Dr Berg thank you so much for your videos what happened to parsley
Parsley might have something that other herbs don’t have😀
Very glad to be of help.
dr. Berg I'd like to know which in your opinion are better fresh or dried? I prefer the dried in most cases...what are the advantages of fresh other than the phytonutrients that come from green leafy herbs
Rosemary, ginger, oregano, sage, thyme, mint, fennel, parsley tea. Not super tasty but it gets the job done.
This is useful video. Wish I knew this information much earlier than now. Thanks Dr Berg
Very glad to be of help.
Black walnut hull,
Holly Basil
I read that raw cacao and freshly ground coffee has enough orac scale antioxidants for the whole day.
Thank you dr Berg .all dry spices are in my kitchen cabinet but will now switch to fresh plant herbs...great info..THANK YOU
I’ve been taking organic fermented liquid turmeric , ginger and black pepper , I put it in water and it has been amazing for my inflammation , what’s turmeric antioxidants ?
Thank you for sharing this, Dr. Berg. I cook and brew team with all the herbs. I don't like Sage, though 😊
Hey dr. I'm 25 and I eat everyday a large bowl of salad with some seeds(sesame, flaxseed.. ) should I be worried about a large intake of phytic acid? Thank you so much for your help. Because its really confusing me now what is healthy and what is not 😕
You missed *Sumac* : c. ~312,400 μmol TE/100g H-ORAC , 2500 L-ORAC (higher than clove). Great for exercise induced muscle pain and blood sugar control.

Very glad to hear that!
I expected to see sumac somewhere in the top of the list, since it is having an ORAC value of 312,400.
This all-spice sounds a lot like what is called tea masala (herbs/powder). My tea masala here contains black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg.
