GORGEOUS guitar! Might be my all-time favorite axe. This and a good Stratocaster, would make a great pair. But Lenny Davidson knew that, back in 1963-'64 ...
Song played - 'New Frontier' from Donald Fagen's solo album 'The Nightfly'. Guitar playing by Larry Carlton. BTW Ian's playing is amazing. very tasteful and well executed. His solo on 'Wuthering Heights' is one of my favorite of all time.
A really nice take on Larry Carlton playing New Frontier... on an ES-330!! I think I've played it a couple of dozen times already! So the next question is... what amp and gear is Ian playing through?
Sometimes he's easily identifiable and recognizable, for which I highly regard him, a guitar player quality, which is highly unusual and unique. Only a few (a mouthful, of course depending on the size of mouth?) guitar players are gifted with that. Sometimes, however, he's not. I suppose that has to do with the style. What style is the Alan Parsons Project?
RIP Ian. They broke the mold when they made you. Your legend will live on and on...
Ian Bairnson is a true guitar legend.
I love the 62 es330 as it was the only year with black plastic p90’s and block inlays. Absolute beast of a guitar
Makes my mouth water, beautiful warm tone and boy does she ever look nice
Love Ian’s work and love the Donald Fagan cover! New Frontier ❤️
Nice guitar.. nice playing.. nice song.
Since seeing this video I've had a chance to play the Heritage 530, chunky neck with lollars sounds every bit better than the 330. IMO.

Close your eyes (before getting sick) and enjoy !

Geez, that sounds really good.
Great playing & guitar but ruined by the out-of-focus filming!
Was the in and out of focus stuff deliberate? If so, please refrain in future. Other than that, nice guitar, nice sounds.

Nice playing.
New Frontier!
Great guitar, beautifully played. New Frontier by Donald Fagen on the looper. Makes for a beautiful duet.
Beautiful playing - your sound has a real soul/jazz feel, albeit Donald Fagen.
HOW were they completely different after 1964?

This was a very nice demo! Little but informative talking and lots of tone.
Wonky shifting focus gave me a headache . . . but the guitar still sounded great.
You eyesight guys are killing me ...
Sounds Steely DAn to me
"1962 Gibson ES-330 as seen through the eyes of a drunk potato"
