The harmony of this band is incredible, actually many groups of the 70's including the O'Jays, Spinners, Bluenotes, Four Tops, Pips, Miracles, etc... had great harmony, unlike many singing groups of today. Really miss those days.
Man, o, man. Those cats had the genuine stage magic and shine. Whatever the "IT" factor is, you know it when you see it, or when it hits you. They definitely had tons of "IT". Kings of 5 part harmony. Back when they could truly boast having 5 lead singers. The best nuanced and coordinated dancing to be found to match those world-class harmonies. Powerful when they all were 20 - 25 years old.
Thank you Paul Williams for the wonderful singing and coreorafi you made for the group! There will never be another group with your talent and wondeful songs ever!
A little correction when they were new before being the Temps Melvin did the choreography but once signed to motown the late great Cholly Atkins who also did the ojays and spinners Jackson 5 and so many others did the dance steps
This is GREAT entertainment. I could not buy a ticket and see any live performance today that would top the energy, preciseness, talent, and more from the Temptations.
Dealing with chronic pain because of his arthritis. I know that pain all to well myself. But, I won't allow them to give me cortisone injections anymore. I had a couple long ago. And stopped doing that because it's worse in the long run and those caused him to develop diabetes. And poor Paul he was suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia and in those days there was no treatment for that, which is why he started drinking to numb the pain. He was never a drinker of alcohol. He carried a thermos of milk with him. He had always loved drinking his milk before. But, it got so difficult dealing with the pain of Sickle Cell Anemia. I had the honor/pleasure of meeting Paul Williams Jr as well as Dennis Edwards back in February 2016 for a Valentines Day concert they did I met all those from The Temptations Revue. And had my picture taken with them as well. They were all very kind and funny too. I told Paul Williams Jr that he looks and sounds a lot like his dad and I think that his dad would be very proud of him. He sings his dads part in the songs. But, now that Dennis passed away in 2018. I don't know if the Temptations Revue is still together performing. Back in 2003/04 I had the pleasure of seeing The Temptations in concert. Unfortunately, there was not meet and greet after the show. They were there with other groups, The Four Tops, The O'Jays and The Whispers. Easily the best concert it was a great show and even the comedian between each act was really funny. Would really love to see them all again. And then meet them too.
One of the greatest Male groups of sll times.i grew up listening to the temptations they're sort of soundtracks in my life story. RIH to those who have left us.
The best group of all time was the tempting Temptations. I love them so so much all the groups in that era were good I just like the soul sounds of The Temptations so I take my head off to all the groups of the 60s and the 70s and thank God I was there to enjoy the ride. God bless.
The Temptations (these guys) was the greatest male singing group in the world. When Paul died and David got on drugs and was fired that ended the original and greatest Temptation group. The replacements never could equal these guys.
WOW. I am so glad you posted this. I grew up with the Temps and miss all the wonderful songs. I could watch this over and over. They are an awesome group. So many songs from the 90's and on can't even come close to the TALENT these men have THANK YOU for posting this. :)
One of the best groups of all time. I'm 54 now and remember the songs from my younger years, they give me fond memories of my family. Though I like the men one and all, I cherish the original group the most. These guys were some singing and dancing brothers.
their accapella at the end of this video is so powerful...brought me to tears...this is raw..pure talent. today's music can't compare to what these men did.
69 year old white boy from the country in Oklahoma. The Temptations made me fall in love with Motown and many of the groups that were with them during that period of great music.
first time seeing this video and it's wonderful. They all were fantastic but Paul was my favorite.... he sang with such emotion in his voice. Groups like this only come around once in our lifetime and maybe that's the way it should be.
As I've become older, I have really started to appreciate the artistry these men ( and other pioneers of classic soul) gave to the world. Those were some turbulent times and to create such beautiful music and perform in sometimes less than ideal conditions made me appreciate their work even more!
As I was listening to him on lead, my thoughts were that he probably could of had a great solo career at some point. His voice would only get drowned out by all the lead singers of the group based on the type songs they sang. He had a bluesy type voice and could of been like a Johnnie Taylor, Marvin Sease, or one of the other contemporary blues singers
You’re right! The Temptations could have scored more hit records! However Paul Williams had his demons to deal with. In the end the demons proved to be more than Paul Williams could handle! May he rest in peace.
OMY goodness the temptations was soooooooo professional sooooooo beautiful singers I loved them wayyyyyy back from my older brothers ❤ those 45’s & ALBUMS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I grew up in Detroit. Met Smokey Robinson (Miracles) and Levi Stubbs from the "Four Tops. Everything coming out of "Motown" during their early years was pure gold. It wasn't uncommon to see one song after another listed on "top song" lists throughout the nation, at one time.
I love it so much! The Temptations, the original Temptations is my favorite group of all times. I especially loved Paul and Eddie. I just love listening to this.
My heart goes out to them because I don't know what they had to go through between the making of lyrics, dressing, families and travels but they were beautiful then.❤
My favorite group. I've seen them over a dozen times. The first time was back in either 1966 or 1967. Even saw their Reunion Tour concert at Radio City Music Hall. May I say a fantastic show 😀
Thanks so much Josh for this treasure. I am a die hard Tempts fanatic. After looking at their choreograph I was knocked off my feet to see the precision in their steps.Believe me we will never see anything close to this type of commitment to perfection in entertainment. Temptations forever. ......
The best 50 minutes I have spent in a very long time. Thank you so very much for putting this together and sharing. Saving to share with my 75 year old father. I grew up and learned to love listening to The Temptations.
People will always say that David was much better than Dennis as lead. The fact is, they both had much different sounds. David was pure passion with a greater voice range, whereas Dennis was gritty, almost gospel-sounding soul. Dennis' voice was perfect for that late 60s, early 70s transition to psychedelic funk, garnering the Tempt's first grammy with "Cloud Nine," and their second with "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." I'm just glad that the Tempt's success didn't leave when David did.
David wasn't a better singer than Dennis but I liked him better. I liked the group's songs in the Ruffin period better. To me the Temptations will always be David... and Eddie.
I am 76 years young and enjoy the music of the music of the Temptations from original to the present. BLESS YOU OTIS WILLIAMS, YOU ARE THE BEST. 🎉 THANK YOU
Funny you should be 76 years old and so am I. Have been following the Temptations when they hit the market with 'Beauty's only skin déep'. Dennis Edwards moved into the apartment complex my brother stayed in and I used to run his clothes to the cleaners when Dennis was singing with the Contours at the Congo Lounge on Gratiot at Chene street. (Prior to the Temptations.
You can't hurt them anymore such that it will matter Otis no one really cares about this group The true stars are gone and everybody knows that never included you Sorry
Dennis moss You should understand why this song -- My Girl -- was written in the first place. It was co-written by Smokey Robinson to his wife -- a member of the Miracles -- who had multiple miscarriages on the road.
@@MichaelBowden-pb1rghe’s talking about when Melvin, Eddie, Otis, and Paul would share a single mic to harmonize while David or Dennis had their own mic singing solo.
I wish we all had these days back. Nobody is happy as they were in the past and I believe its because we aren't dancing anymore! I pray the Temptations Living family is doing well and know that they had been loved and remain within us now seniors hearts. Blessings ❤
I grew up in Detroit right when they got started, I will always remember the good times, going to the Twenty Grand, Northwestern High School, those were the days. Great memories.
I agree with krame99. Without David the group would have never taken off. It was this particular combination of voices, attitudes and personalities that made this group. The majority of the hits by the Temptations were made by these 5 men. They had a few with Dennis Edwards. But they could never replace or duplicate David, Paul or Eddie. The replacements never come close to duplicating the magic that these 5 made. They were the greatest group in my life time.
I also agree with you there was a magic with the group but there were 4 very good singers David,Eddie,Paul and Melvin Otis was a backup at best he never sang lead on any of the groups songs. People just watched the movie and are going by false facts the real facts are that in 1965 the temps had three number one hits one Eddie sang lead on the other two David sang lead on. Now on to 1966 they had 5 number one hits Eddie sang lead on two of them and David sang lead on three of them. Right there are facts look them up do whatever you want David Ruffin is in a class with very few i can't seem to find one guy that can sing like him there was David Ruffin and Little Sonny Brown of The intruders I'm still waiting for two guys to step up and sing like them two. I would have put Levi Stubbs in there but the four tops found a great replacement for him so these are just facts not false to make a movie good when your own boss Barry Gordy says your the best to ever sing for Motown taking about David Ruffin that means something.
***** And those are the FACTS of this matter. .... People fail to realize a MOVIE will tell part of the story..... It's Hollywood and they only tell you what SOUNDS good, But in order to get the real scoop you have to open books. lol ..... Thanks for that True fact Knowledge Krame99

Kings of 5 part harmony. Back when they could truly boast having 5 lead singers. The best nuanced and coordinated dancing to be found to match those world-class harmonies. Powerful when they all were 20 - 25 years old.
The best that it ever was everything else was nothing but a copy of the classic five
"My Girl" was my favorite!
One of the best groups of all times! There will never be another!
Thanks for compiling these performances. As they used to call them in my day, the tall, tan, talented, tempting, Temptations!
Thank you Paul Williams for the wonderful singing and coreorafi you made for the group! There will never be another group with your talent and wondeful songs ever!
Best there will ever be they we were for sure and they were not playing games there live as nd for real bigg ray baby
Coreorafi.. lmao. U mean choreographed
@@tupacloveno, they meant choreography**
A little correction when they were new before being the Temps Melvin did the choreography but once signed to motown the late great Cholly Atkins who also did the ojays and spinners Jackson 5 and so many others did the dance steps
@HDcompany_ you just don't know what good really is
Melvin singing and dancing is underrated. Paul lead vocals is underrated
Spot on! I am 74 got to admit, I still adore Melvin, his smile would light up an auditorium !the voice melts me !
Brilliant. There will never ever be a group as good as them again👏👏👏❤️
This is GREAT entertainment. I could not buy a ticket and see any live performance today that would top the energy, preciseness, talent, and more from the Temptations.
LOVE The Temps. An amazing band. Eddie Kendricks is still my favorite R&B voclist. R.I.P.
Melvin , not only did he have a amazing voice... He was an excellent Dancer....❤🤗🕺
He was my favourite !
God bless.
We were the five Lords song the same music.
The absolute best dance group. I agree. Looks like a lot of us are in the same age group and states. I’m from Texas and Arkansas, also. Love the Temps
David is killing it
None other will compare. This is when Popular (Pop) music actually represented talent to cross genres. Soul, Funk, Gospel. Motown was an amazing Era.
I'm 25 , This has been my favorite group since I was 9 years Old.. Much Respect, Rip Eddie,David,Blue,&Paul
Such amazing talent! Real music and such dance moves. They were just the total package and it was a magical time in Motown!!
I grew up listen to the Temp in my house, I thank my mother for loving good music. those days were good music.
The Temptations the Best Group of Singers for all Time. This was an Awesome Group of Guys. Love The Temptations Forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just love Paul's featured lead vocal on "Don't Look Back". So much soul!
His voice was eccentric, amazing,
He had an incredible voice - loved all the songs he sang!
@@htdgz drank too much

Yessssss
The Temptations (these guys) was the greatest male singing group in the world. When Paul died and David got on drugs and was fired that ended the original and greatest Temptation group. The replacements never could equal these guys.
Yes, there were problems and tragedies, but when they were doing it, they did better than anyone else.
There was no Replacing, David Ruffin!!!!
One and only david ruffin one of the best
Class style elegance
Paul was my favorite.
WOW. I am so glad you posted this. I grew up with the Temps and miss all the wonderful songs. I could watch this over and over. They are an awesome group. So many songs from the 90's and on can't even come close to the TALENT these men have THANK YOU for posting this. :)
A great tribute to the greatest male vocal group of all time!!!!!!
Almost turned the video off. Thank goodness I didn't. I called my wife back into the room to listen.
Thank you so much for compiling and sharing these videos. They are a true treasure. The Temptations will always be the best!
69 year old white boy from the country in Oklahoma. The Temptations made me fall in love with Motown and many of the groups that were with them during that period of great music.
You go Rob. Good taste.
first time seeing this video and it's wonderful. They all were fantastic but Paul was my favorite.... he sang with such emotion in his voice. Groups like this only come around once in our lifetime and maybe that's the way it should be.
Paul was my favorite also. ❤
They contributed to the soundtrack of my life. Wow!!!! What talent!
Love this comment
The Temps were a gift to us all, Black, White, and Brown! This is fabulous stuff, man...
As I've become older, I have really started to appreciate the artistry these men ( and other pioneers of classic soul) gave to the world. Those were some turbulent times and to create such beautiful music and perform in sometimes less than ideal conditions made me appreciate their work even more!
Wow, this is superb. A tribute to the greatest male singing group of all time. Thank you, sir.
Paul Williams was underrated. He had a great voice. When u look at TCB with the supremes and temptations he could really sing.
As I was listening to him on lead, my thoughts were that he probably could of had a great solo career at some point. His voice would only get drowned out by all the lead singers of the group based on the type songs they sang. He had a bluesy type voice and could of been like a Johnnie Taylor, Marvin Sease, or one of the other contemporary blues singers
in that case you would love The Impossible Dream, I think Paul sings the whole song.
PAUL WAS THERE BEFORE DAVID, DID LEAD ON A FEW SONG, WHEN THEY WERE THE PRIMES.
Paul was their original Choreographer
You’re right! The Temptations could have scored more hit records! However Paul Williams had his demons to deal with. In the end the demons proved to be more than Paul Williams could handle! May he rest in peace.
OMY goodness the temptations was soooooooo professional sooooooo beautiful singers I loved them wayyyyyy back from my older brothers ❤ those 45’s & ALBUMS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I swear this is a GOLD MINE! Again thank You SO much!
This is a special gift and blessing to have all of these Temptation performances.
MY GIRL. without a doubt one of the TOP 10 SONGS OF ALL TIME.
My heart goes out to them because I don't know what they had to go through between the making of lyrics, dressing, families and travels but they were beautiful then.❤
I’m 76 years old and still think they are just wonderful musicians and performers
I JUST MADE 80 I COULD LISTEN TO MOTOWN ALL DAY!!!!!!❤❤❤🎤🎶🎹🎷🎻🎺🎵🥁
TEMPTATIONS FOREVER!!!!!!!
Old ass hell 😂
Glad I could share this for all true Tempts fan to enjoy.
The best guy group ever! Thank you so much. john.sivorn@gmail.com
Thanks, yes this is awesome
We call it: "clean music" - the best ever
You are doing a wonderful job. John.
and i want to thank you for the time and thought you put into this great video.
My favorite group. I've seen them over a dozen times. The first time was back in either 1966 or 1967. Even saw their Reunion Tour concert at Radio City Music Hall. May I say a fantastic show 😀
Wow, I miss this group! Loved the heck out of the Tempting Temptations (all members). Great 👍 video.
Thanks so much Josh for this treasure. I am a die hard Tempts fanatic. After looking at their choreograph I was knocked off my feet to see the precision in their steps.Believe me we will never see anything close to this type of commitment to perfection in entertainment. Temptations forever. ......
So True !
Temptations to me will always be with David
@@lovecosmetics1me too!
@@lovecosmetics1 The period with David Muffin is referred to as "The Classic Five" period, or lineup. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
Dennis was good. David was the better showman, though.
🎉 THANK YOU
So do I- 75!
I just turned 76 and this was our time!!! Such fun, still love all these songs…
Otis?
You can't hurt them anymore such that it will matter Otis no one really cares about this group The true stars are gone and everybody knows that never included you Sorry
That boi Paul ain't nothing to play with!
Paul was definitely a master of his craft, and he could dance his ass off
Thanks all for the positive comments.....
I still wish to this very day that these guys could have kept it together.
thanks for the videos
Was certainly a pleasure sharing them.
***** It's very difficult to live out of a suit case year in and year out. the road is a B.
Dennis moss
Dennis moss You should understand why this song -- My Girl -- was written in the first place. It was co-written by Smokey Robinson to his wife -- a member of the Miracles -- who had multiple miscarriages on the road.
The chemistry that happens when the 4 of them share a single microphone... it is electric, it is magic, it is downright alchemistic.
This a very small detail. No disrespect intended. But, there are 5 Singers in this group.
@@MichaelBowden-pb1rghe’s talking about when Melvin, Eddie, Otis, and Paul would share a single mic to harmonize while David or Dennis had their own mic singing solo.
@@perryphillips2919 Oh, ok. Thanks for the 411.
@@MichaelBowden-pb1rgWe know what she meant.
I. Love. David
I wish we all had these days back. Nobody is happy as they were in the past and I believe its because we aren't dancing anymore! I pray the Temptations Living family is doing well and know that they had been loved and remain within us now seniors hearts. Blessings ❤
Beautiful voices, unmatched dance moves, style, and class, the Great Temptations!❤ Just love them! Timeless Music!
I was able to see the Temptations when i relocated to Chicago in 1966. They were at the REGAL THEATER on 47th Street.
Wow what a GREAT post. The ending voices had me hypnotized....beyond beautiful.
I’m crying. My favorite band of all time. Eddie and David were the goat.
I grew up in Detroit right when they got started, I will always remember the good times, going to the Twenty Grand, Northwestern High School, those were the days. Great memories.
I'll always remember the Temptations as the original Temptations David Ruffin was singing, nobody could ever replace his voice.
Please return your love to me sung by Eddie is one of the great falsetto songs, imo!
I was feeling some kind of way tonight.
but I tell you watching them sing is perking me right up.
I'm smiling and these videos are fantastic.
+krame99 Otis never sang lead on any Temptations records but he sang (and still to this day...) sings lead during live performances
Wow! 2 hit songs.
@@krame99 DAVID was just good in the group. Solo he mostly was not that important.
I always knew about the harmony in this band, but never knew they had such moves!
The mighty Temps, go guys, love ❤️them😊.
I wish Paul's for once in my life were included.💯
Agree! He does a fabulous job. I think it has a feel of sadness and heartbreak.
