The first vipers sounded horrid like a giant fart can that had been magnified 1000 times , they have made great improvements in the stock sound let alone aftermarket sound .

it's unique above all. nothing sounds like this, even though it's obviously not the best v10 noise ever..

"This isn't a car I'd want to spend a lot of time in, but this is where I wanna be if I'm gonna be anywhere."
That makes no sense, and yet, I understood it perfectly.

yeah this car is a very underrated drivers car and it also has super car theatre. it would be so ironic if after they stop production people start realising how special this thing was and start buying them causing the prices to go up haha

Thank you Matt for giving the Viper the respect it deserves, I'm so tired of people hating on this car. I've never driven or ridden in one but I would love to some day since I love them. They may not be the best road cars, but they're just so impressive on the track and they're not overly modern to the point where they do everything for you like so many supercars today. The Viper is among the last, true driver's cars left today, and I'm sad they're discontinuing it again. Do I think it will return again someday? Yes I do, but in order to sell more I think Dodge does need to make it a more comfortable car for the street instead of it being basically a race car. If they can figure out a way to do that, keep it feeling analog, and not sacrifice the performance, it would be perfect. Few cars have half the personality of the Viper. Now that the Hellcat has stolen it's spotlight though as far as power goes and having the complete package, they would definitely have to revisit the Viper and make it more worth the price in the eyes of people who aren't necessarily looking for a track car or are comparing it to say a Z06.

That Viper apparently has the Arrow PCM/ECU. You could hear it popping as he drove back onto the pits. That mod does as much for the car as anything, as the stock tune is conservative and leaves a lot of responsiveness on the table.

They should redesign them to be Mid-engine and give two engine options, the 6.2 Hellcat motor to attract new buyers, and keep the V10 for the purists that have bought a few Vipers over the years. Sad to see such an awesome car go away after all these years.

Thanks for the ride Matt. The Seneca Lodge gang spent a few days at SP in our Cobras about 10 years ago. The Viper was fast but nothing sound better than unmuffled side pipes on 600 HP V-8 Cobras. Are you going to visit VIR one of these days?

6:30... "T/A has like a 210 mph top speed".... Not even Close The Most aero dynamic Viper is the GTS and it only goes 206 mph... T/A does have an aero kit that adds drag... It'll only do Mid 190s..while an ACR has a 177 mph limit.

Another fantastic review, Matt! Your original Viper TA One Take is one of the main reasons I bought my Gen V Viper! I bought a GTS instead of the TA though. I've been on the fence about purchasing the DSC/Viper Exchange suspension package. The fact that you did most of this One Take in street mode and still praised the system is pretty amazing! I think I'm sold!
My only question is, how was the ride quality in street mode? Did is seem more comfortable and compliant that OEM?

Yes it did seem more comfortable than the standard TA suspension

Awesome! Sounds like I'm going to throw this onto my GTS and get out to the track soon then. Keep up the great work, Matt!

+One Viper Bite Go ahead and contact Andrew Wheeler over at ViperExchange if you're serious. He's the Performance Manager there. He also installed this same setup on his personal Viper GT (with a heads & cam package they also offer) and says it's the best performing suspension he's ridden in, in a Viper. He's also gone through the ¼ mi. with it a time or two and claims that it's the 'straightest' suspension he's ever experienced while under a hard launch. Pretty good stuff!
