6:53 It was such a beautiful moment! And let's not forget the fact that he did it while taking a turn at 276 km/h
I would've thought that he's desperate because he couldn't go faster that 275 due to the electronic restriction that the Vipers have but yeah, he did it while turning at that speed lol
Luis Torreón The viper ACR is limited to 275-276kph for aerodynamic reasons, since it generates an extreme amount of downforce
@@alexmustang8611 I don't understand if the wing produce that much of downforce why has it to be restricted?

This is the only vehicle under $400k to do it in 7 min. And it’s less than a third of that price. It’s sad that these are no longer available. This was truly the end of driver built sports cars. RIP Viper, you will always be top dog in my book.
Not true at all. The Huracan Performante costs $280,000, the 911 GT3 RS "only" costs $189,000 and the Radical SR8 even costs $175,000...
@@SuperGeronimo999 Vipers usually cost ~$80k

@@SuperGeronimo999 Huracan and GT3 are automatic cars with 7 gears, when you compare the ACR against the GT2 in slower circuit, the ACR beats it. The Radical is more a karting (legal for street use) than a proper car, same like Bac Mono or X-Bow

The fact that this is a MANUAL, naturally aspirated V10 going only to the rear wheels is incredible. But if you take all that into consideration, then remember that this was just their warm up lap, this is phenomenal. How the hell Dom tamed the Viper, a manual RWD beast that bites your ass from the smallest imperfection in your drive, and got man and machine to work together to produce such a near flawless lap on his first try at the Nordschleife doesn't even process in my head. Props to you, my friend.
Wild_ _Toilet they've been testing their setups for a few days, it's useless😂😂
More pleasing sound than a current F1 car
Well, Dom is a pro on the Nordschleife. GT3 drivers on the Nordschleife are the best you can get to drive a car, even when it's a beast like the Viper
Here is what worries me, the roll bar they are installing is 70 pounds of extra weight. And Dominick is not a small driver. I know they want the bar so he can go balls to the wall, but you can see in the Le Man series GT added weight makes a huge difference.
Wild_ _Toilet the new Vipers aren't as twitchy and punchy as the older cars, they are much easier to drive.
That was one the scariest and most thrilling things I've ever watched. One handed at over 250kmh through bends. Phenomenal
The driver is definitely no slouch, he's a more or less a former factory team driver for Porsche

Anyone who says American cars don't handle needs to watch this video

fell in love with the viper when i was 6. I never figured out why, but I just knew it was my favorite car ever. Now Im 30 and my opinion hasn't changed.
Despite the great lap time, it seems it had more to break sub 7's; outstanding driving and I applaud the fan clubs for working to create this. The ACR down force is so impressive that it couldn't pass the 280km mark. I'm sure another video will happen but this made it clear as a "track record shattering force" to be reckoned with.... Great Job! Mopar or No car!!!!
I watched the site that shows the last version of the Viper that was powerful (195 MPH) without the Aero package downforce. And at exactly the same spot turning the corner to the main straight, the older Viper was 12 seconds down on the 2016 Viper. It ran a 7:12, so it picked up 3 seconds on the long straight.I think in the long run being 20 MPH slower with the Aero package works out fine.
Not to nit pick but it did break 280 for a second or two
Wow just wow. A bit of wet track and a practice lab too. Manual car. What a beast of a driver and car
You got that right!
2:40 - 2:49 one of the coolest sequences . Gives you an idea of how serious the brakes are & how much torque this thing got

How do you know that?
Everyone who lives next to the nurburg knows...
'tis true. We only managed to get 1 lap in due to weather. More laps to come in the near future.
I worry about the weight of the roll bar they are putting in. It's good for safety obviously, but it also weighs 68 pounds. Dominick is not a small driver either, I guess with the bar he can go more balls to the walls without killing himself.

ViperVinni thank you. The latest GoPro Hero 5 & Session 5 worked wonders for this effort.
FoxProFilms please mount gopro on inside of side window
I did mount an angle to the side window looking inside. I chose to use the helmet cam instead - a very unique view of Dominik's drive.
so you used Hero5 as frontcam .. and session for helmet? .. and the datastuff from RN was streched from 720p to 1080p? .. looks sharp! ;)
You got it! I had 2 more camera angles, but this layout did the job without being too cluttered. The helmet cam was way better than I expected it to be.
I'm surprised at how much he keeps his hand on the shifter.
Only pussies drive a car with paddles
Peter House - I meant that he took his hand off too often. You only need to take it off to shift. His turns would have been smoother had he had both hands on the wheel except to shift.
The older Vipers yes, but this version is so much smoother, . Look at some of his turns, he knows when to use two hands and which not. He knows this track like the back of his hand. Everything went against them. Rained the whole time until the lap. They had to go out on a green track, right after a rain with no rubber put down yet.No time with the car. He will knock a few seconds of that.
No, neurologically speaking a person is WAY smoother with just one hand on the wheel, this two hands on the wheel thing comes from when cars didn't have power steering, so a person needed both arms to control the steering wheel. Its much easier to use your arms independently from each other then try to make both arms do the same thing smoothly due to the fact human arms are not equal in strength so the brain has to compensate to replicate the motion that the other arm is doing and when you factor in that human arms do not have 1/10 the fine motor control as say your fingers its almost cretin that one arm is not perfectly synced up with the other one thus making steering corrections jerky or less smooth.
Frank Leary, from my own experience and what I've learned from other racers is that two hands on the wheel is definitely smoother. When you have both hands on the wheel they shouldn't necessarily be doing exactly the same thing. Often one hand is pulling the opposite direction as the other (just a little bit) to make your turn more gradual and less jerky. Also, with two hands you are less likely to be disturbed by bumps and g-forces. I have instructed a fair amount and I have never seen anyone be smoother with one hand than with two.
He missed 2 and 3 gears on 3 differents corners, i think it will do a sub7 in next month .
Viny F.A I heard they'll retry this week.
3 week from the video
the car isnt tunned... i guess they can lift a little downforce from it to gain some speed on the straights... looks like it hitted a brick wall on the 270km/h... the other nder 7s go over 300 on a couple of parts of the track... yet, viper is going with real tires on the next try...
The whole point of having 2000 pounds of downforce, is to use it. I agree this is a fast track which actually hurts this package. if you see some of the track records from this car, the faster tracks were closer, as the twisting circuits they were broken by 5 seconds on one track.
yeah, I have the same transmission and it is not easy to find your gear. I am amazed that anyone would try to race with it but I guess they are making a point.
This is the definition of "giving her all she's got"

too much down force
So how much down force would you recommend?
if you guys are asking why he is doing 275kmh in the long straight with 650hp when I did 302kmh with 530hp , the reason is because the car has " a lot " of downforce if you prefer. I did not say it like I knew what downforce they should use
“American cars cant turn”
Best part it's affordable too lol
Majority can't but corvette and viper have always been crazy good for little money.

just think of the huracan performante, NA V10 similar weight and viper is more powerful. If only they offered a limited ED with a DCT lol...but this car can come close to the lambo especially if they use the same tires and the viper driver gets a bit more time on the ring.
What are you talking about? Viper is UNDERPOWERED and has a top speed of 177 MPH because of the massive wing. Not to mention automatic. One is over a million dollars, one is 120,000 dollars. I is a manual, with front engine rear wheel drive. Ford GT is the so called big money American car, and it won Le Man first time. Corvette won Le Mans 6 times. Lambo......Hmm?

vin russo the lambo costs 300k $ not one million 🙈 and i don't get your point with le mans either...
the overall mid engine awd concept of the lambo is faster than the viper that's fact because of physics
And those racing slicks he's got on the car yea but how many production cars come with racing slicks? None this lap don't count for shit
This video has left me so hyped.

Hands down one of the best north loop laps I've seen. Remember this is a naturally aspirated, fixed aero, h-pattern manual machine. No bullshit technology. Just the driver and the machine. Absolutely love it. The best part would be the fist pump from the driver when he realises he nailed the fox hole section. :)
This was the same driver that ran the 7:12.13 with the OLD ACR. He is also the ALMS GTS-R Viper driver for SRT. In his post on Facebook he says this ACR can go 3-4 sec faster than it did.
The driver cornering with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the shifter reminded me of the old days of f1. What a madlad
I was watching Misha in one of these a few days ago and the owner driving made it look slow. With this dude driving in full send mode the car is an absolute animal.
this was just the warm up, couldn't go full send the tire exploded
This car is WAY WAY WAY faster than 7 Minutes. If it had adjustable aero that would let it be faster on straights... it would have been 6:35 or faster
05:25 holy moly, when the steering wheel just goes from left to right ... Jesus that dude got balls of stell taming that v10
I'm pretty sure that in 2024 with Cup 2's, this ACR would do sub 7, 6:50s
this run with no misshifts would've done sub 6:55 easily. but I do agree with you about the cup 2s
It's sad to see what such a car and pilot can do, being killed by bean counters and fanatic politicians...
5:27 damn he almost lost control, and that wasted time. Definitely a sub 7 second car for sure
As an amateur open track day event goer in my girly s2000, this video utterly gave me chills. The way the driver is fighting the steering wheel to keep control of this beast is incredible! Truly remarkable skills at hand here. This is what separates the amateurs (me) from the pros. I truly hope they beat the record. For the 25 people who liked your comment, and for you too:
1. 10th best lap record (though at your time of comment 1.5 years ago that was probably accurate + the only thing you say that was accurate)
2. None of the cars in the list above the Viper ACR cost anywhere close to 2 million (in USD - unless you were talking in roubles, my friend). The most expensive there, now or in 2017, would be Porsche 918 ($845,000). You can find Radical SR8s (two of which are faster than the ACR around the 'ring) for around the same price as a brand new ACR. I have no idea where you have imagined this list of $2million cars, that's completely false.
3. There are NO LeMans race cars in the laptime ranking - assuming you are referring to the Radical SR8 and SR8LM, both of which are faster (and around the same price, 2nd-hand ;) ), it should be pointed out that these are completely road legal production sportscars, neither of which are LMP/LM1/LM2/LMGTE etc etc cars. ROAD LEGAL. PRODUCTION. So again, you are giving completely false representation. Most of the cars that are faster are not "extreme aero package" special edition cars like the ACR either.
In conclusion, you are a person who just chats shit.
Oh one other thing - a Le Mans car will lap the Nuburgring in ~5m20s, so if they were allowed in the ranking, they would dominate and make even the Radicals and 911s look slow.
@@thert.hon.thelordnicholson7261 the radical isnt a proper road car though
Knowing that the Viper is dead brings tears to my eyes. Manual, aspirated, RWD, no electric motors, no fancy active aero or kers system, just a huge roaring v10 and the largest tyres one could fit in. The last breed of pure American muscle supercars. All hail the untamed Viper.
Insane, Dom is THE Viper tamer ;-)
i loved when he would get into the car back when viper had a team racing. The guy is a rocket
Actually he was one of the SRT factory driver and rode the real GTS-R a few years ago.
It's not like these new Vipers are like the old ones. Not saying they wont bite, just saying they wont bite for touching them lol.
He uses one hand on left hand turns and both on right turns. Whatever works. I could see how that could be faster to shift. Understeer off those corners were taking some time, I timed where he gained and lost compared to other cars. The first and fastest part of the track he's just a couple seconds up on Gen 2 Viper, but the second twisting part it gained 8 seconds. Thats why it has broken so many records by huge margins on slow tracks. It's braking and cornering are spot on. Top speed is sacrificed for down force.
Janusha
That's because there are still lots of Americans who have this false notion that American cars aren't good, compared to their Europeans counterparts.

I honestly do not care if this Viper got 7:01/21 place on the Nurburgring, it's still a badass car. Also for a manual, this was Dodges best creation. Also congrats to the driver, really epic and smooth skills there.
Keep in mind that this is a manual gearbox ; at the Nürburgring IMO this counts for at least 7 seconds.
It seems to me that final drive is longer than the standard car, strange ...... a little easier to manage the torque ???

Nrvous 30 FUCK YEAH!
Slight Overdoze performante is faster
Its not the car (Which definitely is good, but it is track only and there are many better purpose built cars), its the exceptional driving.
It's one of the few good cars to come out of America yet they appreciate mustangs more than this which can't do anything out of a straight line.
Shadman Sudipto they can't go in a straight line if they keep killing people on the sides
"This isn't even my final form" 😂😂😂
Great job Dom! And thank you for posting the Video! @allaboutviper
Does anyone know why he double tapped the steering wheel with his fist at 2:00 minutes? Almost seemed perhaps a timing exercise? Perhaps a braking point?
i comeback to watch this piece of art yearly, and over the years I've acquired new sensory information. @1:59 I know sexual tension when I see it
This car is pure craziness
iMiguelAOG Viper is a real man...no bullshit...steering wheel and a shifter....and a big fuck you if you don't like it!!
Good Bye my friend the American exotic you will be missed but hopefully one day you may return to grace us with your presence once again.
I wished to see this car on this track so much that it became real!!!
Sorry 4 my bad english
I love this car, but that does not look fun at all.
how does that make sense?
Nearly 2-3 seconds in missed shifts lol.
There were a LOT of driver errors and mistakes like it was just a hot lap. It takes serious balls to drive a viper let alone this one but i still say run it again. Especially with how many have caught up on the board in the last 3 years
I'm drained after watching that! Viper seems like a handful! When I see him with one hand, I be like dammmn son, aren't you afraid to get bitten by the Viper?
Maybe he figures its better be bitten in one hand then both!! ;)
haha!
7:01.3 is the official time. Not under 7 min but still very good for a bone stock car, the other manufacturers use modified hyper car to get under 7 min. I am satisfied with that result. The only thing stopping this beast from going under 7min is better tires, more money and time (support from Dodge would be nice too).
Antoine Maxima The ACR crashed
Da,Taper this ACR didnt crash it was a another car they brought. They had 2 of the same exact specs but it was the 1st car that wrecked i believe. Still cant believe an ACR was lost due to tire failure.
Oh look, another one :D There ARE NO HYPERCARS in the list above the Viper ACR. They are either production sports cars or production supercars - so exactly the same category as the Vipers. As for modifications, that's exactly what the ACR is no? It's a highly modified Viper, you absolute joker. Any manufacturer running a lap is going to strip out some weight, maybe add an aero package, which is exactly what the ACR is. Please base your statements on fact and not blindly-patriotic hyperbole.
@@thert.hon.thelordnicholson7261 this laptime was a fanclub effort. No weight stripped, and the aero package comes factory with the ACR package. Your point?
@@onefastslimjim
fanclub can still modifed that car, what's your point.
One of the fastest most competent factory produced track ready cars ever. And this driver is perhaps even better than the machine he's driving
