This is one of the saddest moments in American automotive history. The death of this car is almost comparable to the death of muscle cars in the 70s, but hey, muscle cars have resurrected: will the Viper do so too? I really hope so, because this is the most true car out there. Big ol' NA engine, good ol' manual transmission, almost no electronics and a bodystyle which is so damn great! Goodbye Viper, hope you will come back as soon as possible!
I priced out the aero parts on a moparts website and the "aero kit" would cost $25k to purchase, then you have the brakes which other brands charge alot for.(BMW charges $8,150, Porsche charges $8,520)
Doubt it. Consider that they just build this Gen. for a couple years... and it sales stayed far behind the expectations right from the beginning. IMO its OVER. If u want a Viper... its time to buy.
greatest American car would be the gt40 of all time, even whipped Ferrari ass for 5 years back in the Lemans till Ferrari started bitching that they were losing too much and gt40 had to leave Lemans, viper hasn't proved anything like that so it ain't the best American car but wait till the new gt40 comes out👍
lol, not even close. Viper will be remembered as a low quality, hard handling sports car. The ACR does put up impressive numbers, but it is outdated and poorly built and that's why they don't sell.
Kevin Bowman but still important and impressive because of what it has done with its flaws... hopefully the seriously work on the flaws and bring it back soon
There are only 31 of these on earth. Unbelievably enough, I saw one last year at a ski resort where I work. My girlfriend sent me a picture and said is this a viper because one of her co-workers thought it was. I instantly shit myself. I told her, yeah, it's a viper. It's one of only 31 on earth that is basically made to use on a track and it's ridiculously fast and amazing..... And it's one of 31 on earth.(I said that a few times.) She responded pretty much with, ummm, ok. One of my co-workers though it was a viper and I knew that you would know.(again, I told her it's 1 of 31 on earth and that it's an insane machine.) She couldn't understand why I was going crazy over it. Unbelievable that I'd get to see one in southwest PA. I did get to hear it run and drive away.
@@Daddyodigital Just stop. Chrysler reliability is abysmal and isn't worth putting up with unless it's for one of their bonkers halo cars. After a Caravan with constant transmission failure and a Ram with recurring electrical issues, I'm done owning them. Never had such issues with the Ford trucks or Toyotas and Mazdas I've had.
It has some pretty stiff competition with the Corvette, GTR, and 911 all around the same price point. All of them are also much easier to drive. Also, the GTR is only available with an automatic and the 911 and Corvette have the option.
More people wanted them than could afford them. I myself am in that position. I want one but, I lack the funds. While I wanted Dodge to keep making them, good things don't last forever especially if they are selling them because of demand but people demanding can't afford to buy. I wonder what ends up happening to any Vipers that are unsold.
LOL....I love to see all the "GM fanboys" commenting on this video because deep down they know the Viper is better and are glad to see it go as finally the Corvette could be the top american sports car once again.
chad harmon, no he doesn't. He's right. And deep down you know it..Vettes are amazing, but 13-17 Viper GTS, T/A, & ACR are unique, rare, & flat out Sexy as hell
chad harmon I have a charger with no problems and lets be honest, Government motors is garbage. Plus the viper is the ultimate American car. The Vette doesn't even come close but it is someones mid life crisis car. Mostly males between 40 and 50. But that's not my business.
Man that car would be beautiful with at least half of the ricer boy exterior accessories removed from the exterior. With just the hood vents and a 6" rear deck lid. Perfect.
No I think Dodge also has the manual with the Challenger and the Dart. There may be others i'm forgetting. I can't say for sure, but based on the Hellcat coupe having a manual option, there's a decent chance the Demon will offer a stick too.
The Viper will come back in the mid 2020s. It will either be a mid-engine supercar or it will keep the front engine layout and become a more refined grand tourer.
I was hoping the bronze like coloring was actual metal materials but I guess the cheap price is justified when you realize the materials are all plastic. Looks amazing though.
I hope Dodge brings the Viper back in the future but maybe with a displacement of 8.0L like the original so it can rev a little higher than 6300 RPM. I would really love for it to retain the classic 90° V angle and pushrod design. I think if they went to a 67° V10 it would change the characteristic of the car to much.
I doubt it will retain a Big pushrod engine as the emissions are getting to tough to meet and still be ALL motor. Dohc allows for higher revs and more adjust-ability in VVT timing to help emissions. I do hope they keep it all motor and a v10....closer to what the aventador SV has, rather than supercharging it limit the Z06. Could go turbo and a more mild camshaft?:-)
JerseyMikeP my guess is turbo charged. but still a large engine by European standards. nothing will be produced by dodge like the viper for a minimum of 5 years and it likely won't be front engine.
Don't worry it will be back. They are just saying that so the next model is all hyped up and they can overcharge a few hundred thousand like the Ford GT.
It was the mandatory curtain air bags and the lack of an automatic that killed the viper. If it had an automatic/DCT the sales #s would have been high enough for the pencil pushers to OK the cost of redesigning the chassis for the air bags.
Kristopher Klassen Um. girls will drive it whether it's a stick or auto. I think it will improve the performance. I'd like an auto so that I can give my clutch foot a break from shifting 10-13 spend transmissions from using my Kenworth.

markhenderson123 umm those kumhos aren't standard tires. kumhi makes the best track tires that are barely street legal. they are superior to the michielins and pirellis
More impressive is Dodge putting Nitto drag radials on the Demon from the factory. The kuhmo's are just like the Trofeo R,s and Michelin cup tires, which most top sports cars run.
Justin Davison.... The Kumhos are the standard and Only tire available on the ACR. I've never seen a trofeo R vs. Kumho comparison but I did see Chris harris in a Pirelli sponsored video say the trofeo R is better than the Michelin Cups. The amazing thing is the Trofeo Rs on the Z/28 are about $150 more (per tire) than the ACR's Kumho on tire rack.
JerseyMikeP kumhos track tires are excellent. I can tell you this... if they thought the car would have been faster on pirellis they would have done it. those michielins are cool street r compound tires but that's about it. they are for porsche guys who think they need them for the road... and like the idea of going to the track but never go. those kumhos are a seriously good track tire. the trofeo r is a good tire too. but kumho makes some of the very best track tires. just because they are cheaper doesn't mean anything. it just means you aren't over paying for a name. in racing if it makes you faster... you pay for it regardless of the cost. especially in tires. it's the only thing on a car that actually touches the road. it is litterly the most important part.
Justin Davison....I never said the Kumhos weren't good. You just said they are superior to everything else....and I was looking for some factual links/tests proving it as the Kumho V720 aren't on any other car. The Michelin and Trofeo R's both have lower tread ratings so it's reasonable to assume they are softer. Also the POrsche Michelins are different than the Z06's cup tires. I wish Motor trend would do a comparison as they ran into tire design/concerns in the Zr-1 vs. Viper comparison. I'd like to see a Micheliin super sport vs. Pirelli Corsa vs. the ZL-1's Goodyear comparison as they are the raciest tires that are "truly" street-able and have any sort of wet weather tread design. I have a buddy that rally crosses an old modified MR2 but he uses Hoosier A7 tires which are nowhere near street-able in an wet weather.
