Iceman (Val Kilmer) and Maverick (Tom Cruise) are reconciled and Maverick decides to become a Top Gun instructor.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes. The story wasn't new in 1986, but Top Gun scored with audiences on the strength of its visuals, especially the vertigo-inducing aerial sequences. The film made more money than any other film in 1986 and even spawned a 1989 takeoff, Hot Shots. An Academy Award went to the Giogio Moroder-Tom Whitlock song "Take My Breath Away."

If it wasn't for Tom Cruise, America would be speaking Russian today.
It's really difficult to see Val Kilmer was so happy, healthy, and fit here, and to see how much his health suffered recently. But it was very heartwarming to see Iceman and Maverick have a true genuine friendship in Maverick, their reunion was very touching and bittersweet.
34 years later, Top Gun 2, Maverick is still a Captain training young pilots at Top Gun while Iceman is a Four Star Admiral and Chief of Naval Operations
I love how at the end they let personal rivalry go and realised they were all on the same team. Very heart warming
Iceman was never a bad dude. He was more of the team player. He was only concerned of Mavs' reckless flying. If you ever played Final Fantasy 8, Seifer is like Iceman. Val played a realistic heel but not someone you would totally hate.
I've been watching this movie ever since I was born. I can never get sick of it
You can show Jennifer Connelly riding on Maverick's motorcycle with him in the new "Top Gun: Maverick" trailer and tell me that she's his "love interest", but you will never get me to believe that Iceman and Maverick haven't been in love for the past 35 years....
I cried when iceman died in the second movie of top gun🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Idk why I choked up in the new movie when they said “Mav, whenever you get grounded, 1 Call from Iceman and your back in the air” it’s cute because even though they weren’t flying jets together, they were still wingmen
And that’s how after being ignored in the climax , Andy Dufresne made up his mind to quit Navy Pilot’s job and chose to be an investment banker. 😂
Last question who is better pilot
It's kinda cool Iceman went from disliking Maverick to becoming his Guardian Angel.

Maverick's so much smaller than any of the other pilots, they're all just picking him up and shaking him about. It's adorable.
“Where do you think you want to go?”
I cried so much when Iceman was pronounced dead in the sequel. The common trope of “enemies now friends” was well executed in the first movie, and I love how they wrote Val Kilmer’s current condition into the script, it really adds to the story..
Here after watching Top Gun: Maverick ... man that embrace with Iceman just hits different now
Not only is he a great pilot but Mavrick is also a sunglasses based magician (
