    Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

    What Jimmy did here was definitely heartless, crossing a moral Rubicon even for him. Nonetheless, as he told Miss Esposito, it's a response to the reality that he would always be in the shadow of lawyers like Chuck who did things the "right way." Jimmy tried to overcome his criminal background, but like that girl up for a scholarship, he was continually excluded from his brother's world. So, in an act of profound desecration, Jimmy resolved to use his brother's glory in order to manipulate the world of lawyers in order to seize victory, the winner taking it all.

    Something that really strikes me is that you can feel the insincerity in Jimmy in all the scenes where he talks like this. It's helped by the fact that you *know* he's doing it for underhanded reasons, but you can always tell just by the way he's speaking that everything he's saying is tinged by his motives. But in Saul Gone, he has a speech a lot like others in the series and you can finally hear complete earnestness behind it

    I always had a thought that the original letter that Kim got from Howard, she never showed it to Jimmy. I believe she re-wrote it because she didn’t want Chucks hate for Jimmy to linger on even in his death and she didn’t want to hurt Jimmy, so the only ones that knew what’s actually in that letter is Kim And Chuck, unless Howard opened the letter and read it to be nosy, which I doubt. And she has proven that she’s capable of doing something like that because if you remember in season two, she refused to tell Jimmy that it was Chuck all alone that didn’t want him to work at HHM and that it was Chuck that refused to hire him when he first became a lawyer back when he worked in the mail room. She kept all of that to herself to protect Jimmy’s feelings. That’s one man’s opinion on that.

    • @presenceaboveall7882
      @presenceaboveall7882 27 днів тому +2

      @@truemangibson her reaction and crying is a big reason why I believe that she changed the letter because she thought about what the actual letter said in the hate that Chuck had for him and she said when Chuck approached her about Jimmy switching the contract from 1261 to 1216 she actually almost cried at that meeting right there, thinking about how much Chuck hates Jimmy and how much Jimmy has sacrificed to help Chuck in his time of need and yet Chuck still was scheming and plotting secret.

    Hearing this again... it's honestly not that great of a speech. But I think Jimmy knows that. He already gave an honest hearing and they rejected him for it. So I feel like Jimmy challenged himself to write the most emotional speech with the least amount of actual substance just to see if they were fool enough to eat it up. And they did. Great writing
