The worst offender there is the Crimson Fleet, since if you could just open fire the second you walked in, Naeva wouldn't have gotten away to say, "I'll get you next time starborn scum!"

Don’t rely on the free goodwill of others to do the heavy lifting and fix everything, a message to both the community and Bethesda.

For example a game could have a 9:1 positive video to negative video ratio for the first week, but then by the 2nd week everyone's learned its ass, so the positive videos fall into obscurity while more negative ones get made. The game was overrated at one point.
It's not that Starfield isn't good, it's moreso that Bethesda's classic issues that have been plaguing their games since morrowind are still front and center. Janky animations, overruse of loading screens, inhuman looking humans, strange AI behavior, passable combat, etc. Its a fun game for what it is, but when you measure it against some of the absolute bangers that have released in the last couple years, you begin to wonder why Bethesda isn't evolving.

Starfield feels like an amazing prototype for a game that could have used another year in the oven. The systems are all there and have the potential for fun, but they're so unrefined and shallow that the fun gets cut short into disappointment. Even if they spent another year doing nothing but randomizing their POIs and solving their loading screen issues, we would at least have a solid gameplay loop.
That is why those that remain will help it to reach that potential and in a few years the Video Games redemption arch cliché will continue with many returning Starfield players posting both comments and UA-cam videos about the Redemption of Starfield. I mean we just got one for Halo Infinite since that has turned around, why not Starfield in a few years?

My PC is nowhere near strong enough to play Starfield, but my hopes aren't terribly high for it. Skyrim doesn't even really count as an RPG, but everyone treats it like Bethesda's crowning achievement. Because of that, they've released it about 15 times and based their newer games off it (FO4 just feels like Skyrim with guns and nukes). At this point, I really couldn't care less if TES 6 ever releases. *Sigh* I think that I'm just going to play Morrowind, Oblivion, or even Daggerfall again.

When I played it, I ran into a bug where every time I entered dialogue, they would just stand there for a solid minute, staring lifelessly at me before eventually finally saying their lines. I cannot stress enough that this was every time I entered dialogue. I'm still waiting for the nexus bug fix mod.
I wanted to like the game so bad. But the fact that in order to travel to another planet, I need to go to my ship, get in my ship, go to space, fly to another planet (if I have the fuel), which means waiting for a timer, a cutscene, a loading screen, a cutscene, being scanned, the loading screen for landing, the cutscene for landing, the loading screen for getting out of my ship, and then I have to run to wherever I want to go. It’s just ridiculous. Sometimes Starfield feels like a point and click adventure game with a bad shooter RPG skin slapped over it. Then I got to Neon, excited because I thought it was gonna be this huge sprawling city that the Neon Street Kid perk made it seem like. And it’s a single path with a couple of shops and one faction. I looked at it, and said “hey this is like Cyberpunk but somehow worse.” I booted up Cyberpunk for the first time since launch. The 2.0 update had already dropped, and holy shit was it so much better. And 140 hours of Cyberpunk later, I tried Starfield again! And promptly uninstalled it. The main quest was super uninteresting and I had no reason to go through with it. The quest was basically just “I’m NASA” for a while with no stakes and while I’m sure it gets less shitty at some point, the beginning of it absolutely sucked. The combat was awful, somehow it feels worse than Fallout 4 and 76. Honestly I even preferred the janky combat of 3 and New Vegas, since there’s nostalgia in the jank. The builds suck, the skills feel unimportant, the aliens are bland as fuck, the worlds are all empty, the settlements are fucking tiny, the only cool thing that I ran into was the pirate questline. But once I was a space pirate, I had no enemies to fight anywhere except regular Spacers. The characters felt flat, none of my decisions really mattered, I never felt stakes anywhere. The game is as deep as Vasco’s personality.

I enjoyed flying kff to ignore the actual qudst for a bit to test out my ship for a bit and randomly running into a guy calling for help and then turning into a short campaign against raiders.... But i hate how the melee and stealth options feel amd the building in general felt like it was barely thought ought (pathing between rooms made no sense)
I wandered the wilderness for 10-15 minutes, found a cave and thought "Oh! Finally! Something!" There was nothing in the cave but a quest in which an npc said he would follow me, and then didn't follow me I stopped playing after that lol

When a dialogue option or killing an NPC soft-locks your quest progress/changes dialogue outcomes/reveals a different ending: actually an RPG. Starfield appears to be Fallout 4 with a usable Skyrim Easter Egg wearing an outer-space themed trenchoat.
They wanted to replicate the experience of being a NASA astronaut but forgot that landing on an empty rock in real life is more impressive than the equivalent in a videogame. TL;DR: real life is boring in a videogame
I enjoyed ship building and combat, the faction questlines were okay buy otherwise... yeah, it just wasn't it, a game devoid of choice and consequences withe the perfect premise to showcase major choices and consequences...

But my nail in the Coffin was that Homes that you spend over 10k for them not to be furnished and NOT have unlimited storage space! Whats the Point of having a home base if you can't dump everything off. I'd gladly give up base building if it meant furnished homes.
Finished the main quest line, and I was like "uh, ok", and I haven't had any desire to replay it yet.

The main quest was super uninteresting and I had no reason to go through with it. The quest was basically just “I’m NASA” for a while with no stakes and while I’m sure it gets less shitty at some point, the beginning of it absolutely sucked. The combat was awful, somehow it feels worse than Fallout 4 and 76. Honestly I even preferred the janky combat of 3 and New Vegas, since there’s nostalgia in the jank. The builds suck, the skills feel unimportant, the aliens are bland as fuck, the worlds are all empty, the settlements are fucking tiny, the only cool thing that I ran into was the pirate questline. But once I was a space pirate, I had no enemies to fight anywhere except regular Spacers. The characters felt flat, none of my decisions really mattered, I never felt stakes anywhere.
The game is as deep as Vasco’s personality.
Some people only hear what they want to hear, I guess...

the skyrim thing does seem to be true, since there are scripts called wordofpower and dragonshout (or maybe just shout?) in the game files. that is the most bethesda thing ever

Starfield was great for a bit. I enjoyed flying kff to ignore the actual qudst for a bit to test out my ship for a bit and randomly running into a guy calling for help and then turning into a short campaign against raiders....
But i hate how the melee and stealth options feel amd the building in general felt like it was barely thought ought (pathing between rooms made no sense)
I wandered the wilderness for 10-15 minutes, found a cave and thought "Oh! Finally! Something!"
There was nothing in the cave but a quest in which an npc said he would follow me, and then didn't follow me
I stopped playing after that lol
the game is fine. not my favourite bethesda game, but it‘s kinda fun. what i dislike most is the repeating points of interest. i have gone through most of them at least twice, because i felt like exploring and not doing quests.

When a dialogue option or killing an NPC soft-locks your quest progress/changes dialogue outcomes/reveals a different ending: actually an RPG. Starfield appears to be Fallout 4 with a usable Skyrim Easter Egg wearing an outer-space themed trenchoat.
Playing Starfield makes me feel like Rick Sanchez...none of it matters when you just can hop to another dimension.

I could forgive a lot of things and overlook things left out or that don't work correctly. But my nail in the Coffin was that Homes that you spend over 10k for them not to be furnished and NOT have unlimited storage space!
Whats the Point of having a home base if you can't dump everything off. I'd gladly give up base building if it meant furnished homes.
Same reaction i had to skyrim when it released for the first time. Everyone hype it up and it was trash.
