I'll be getting this one very soon. This saturday will be my first test drive and then I'll be buying it. I dont care what anyone says about the 230 being the sweet spot. For me this will be my first BMW car and so far I've only owned cheap cars with like 80HP. So owning an RWD car with 180HP for the first time is going to be more than enough for me.
Ordered the 220i in Mineral white with pro pack and comfort pack. Nearly switched to the Brooklyn Grey. My first BMW. Looking forward to it coming...few month yet though!
I ended up switching to the Brooklyn grey a week before the build date...its now arrived in the UK I'm led to believe and due to take delivery imminently...
Matt. Do i need to comment? You know exactly what i am going to write.... Perfect! Quite possibly the best BMW car ...ever? Design is indeed ''bob on''! From all angles and the BMW build quality and of course we know reliability. 220i : why not? Ticks all the boxes as an everyday car. Perfection! [Oh and a true world review! As always Thank You.]
I liked your review so much I went to our local dealer (in Australia) to test drive - fell in love with it and bought it on the spot. Not sure if I should thank you or curse you - I’ve now got some debt but hey - I’ve got a great car in the garage.
I’m in America. I just ordered a 230i. We don’t get the 220i here. What is the difference in the engines other than power output? Is it just a tune? Can you simply tune a 220 to perform like a 230?
Just traveled ~450mi each way to trade in my car for a 230i in the US. I love this car - don’t need the power of the M240i & couldn’t afford that model anyway. Got it in Thudernight Metallic & it’s a terrific color. I figure this 220i is pretty close to my 230i. Great review!
This was a very good honest review even though it's over a 1 year old and the car has changed . I think the 230i is the sweet spot of the car, but I'm going to drive both the 2024 230 and 240 and let's see what happens.
I've had a BRZ since the day they were released (2012). I've enjoyed it so much. Thing is I've gotten older the BRZ sits very low and honestly I'm starting to find getting in and out is becoming a task. On top of that my elderly father who I'm needing to drive around often is having issues with how restricting the BRZ is to get in and out of. The length of the doors is quite the problem in tight car parking especially when you're not a yoga guru. So my question is, if you had opportunity to drive a BRZ (or G86) how do you compare getting in and out of the BMW 220 coupe? It's far time I replaced my BRZ (reluctantly) because I've not have had any issues with it at all, and yet I don't want to go the way of a boring ride.
Would you take a nice spec 220i coupe over a M235i Gran Coupe ? we had ordered a M235i GC last year but we are told now that delivery will be early next year now .
A polite request... Im asking All car reviewers and Auto Journalists to do the same. Please show and let us know detailed information about the tyre that comes with the new vehicle (Brand, type, summer/winter/all-season, speed, size and general auto industry tyre reviews grading of the tyre - meaning, good, average, bad)) Why? 2 Reasons... 1. The tyre is the most important safety feature of any car, as it is the ONLY thing that connects the vehicle with the road, regardless of how good or poor the car is itself. 2. By Auto Journalists and car UA-camrs doing this, it will hopefully start vehicles manufacturers taking note. It may even hopefully push them towards going with best ranked tyre manufacturer, or at least offering different tyres for a customer to have a choice that will be put on the vehicle, with the best available tyre, as well as a tyre that is suitable for the time of year that it is sold. For example, living in Northern Scotland, UK, every time i pick-up a new car, often in December, regardless of European car manufacturer, they 'only' put summer tyres on it for the UK market. Yet the safe and sensible customer focused safety thing to do, would be putting on All Season tyres as a minimum. So for last 10 years, every new car i have had (5), from picking the car up at a dealership, within 30 minutes I've had to drive straight to a tyre specialists (If road conditions allow and no snow or ice) and put on Winter Tyres and in recent years with tyre technology, All Season tyres. This is often an extra £1000+ cost on top of what I've just paid for the vehicle. It is crazy and frustrating car manufactures will not listen or change and car nothing to the safety of their customers, certainly in the UK market. Thank-you..
Fantastic review! Thank you. One question i have is does the 220i coupé have keyless entry and remote engine start as standard or as an extra?? Would be good to know. Many thanks
I like it but it looks worse then previous generaton, objectively has less space in the back and only auto transmition. not really an improvement except for the interior
220i
170 hp
240 Nm
8.1 sec.
It's not true, here in germany:
220i
184 HP
300 Nm
7.5 sec
Incorrect engine stats from the video
Right
In Turkey, B48 engine is importing here as B48B16. Downsized version of EU spec.

Fun to powerslide in the 220i
My wife took delivery of her 220i recently, the thundernight is a wow colour, what a beautiful car to drive
Saw the M240i in Rybrook Warwick and I really like it - pictures don't do it justice. Arguably best looking BMW at the moment
Agreed.

If you can go for the 230i, it’s actually quick, but stay out of sport mode if gas mileage is important to you

Did you find puting the car into comfort mode improved the ride quality?

That is tricky, both are very capable cars. I would most likely go for the 220i however due to the cars being a bit more available.

What colours did people order their 220i Coupe in and why? I am torn between the blue, grey and the red. Leaning more towards the Portimao Blue.

Fantastic review! Thank you. One question i have is does the 220i coupé have keyless entry and remote engine start as standard or as an extra?? Would be good to know. Many thanks
