Kratos and Atreus rescued those wolves from raiders. The wolves were probably quite young when the pair saved them, meaning the raiders either stole them from their pack or killed the lot of them. This reminds Kratos of how his brother was ripped away from him as a child, and how helpless he felt, for not saving him then or from Thanatos

I don't think it would be the same, Deimos merely went to hell when he died, Brok is just outright gone because he died with an incomplete soul
Sindri's grief is far worse since he knows that Brok is gone for good and at the end of the day, it was his own fault for trying to pull Brok's soul out of the Alfheim Lake and reviving Brok with only 3/4's of his soul since he couldn't accept Brok's first death.
even when Sindri inevitably dies himself, he'll NEVER reunite with Brok in the afterlife, and he KNOWS it.
though with Kratos, what happened to Deimos WASN'T his fault at all (and considering this is Kratos, that's saying something), the Greek Gods kidnapped Deimos as a child because they thought he was the "Marked Warrior" destined to destroy Olympus, Kratos tried to stop them but got knocked back and scarred by Ares for his troubles, and only survived because Athena convinced Ares to spare him. from then on, Kratos carried immense guilt over being unable to save his brother, even though from an outside perspective; even without the context of Ares being the God of War and Kratos being a Demigod at the time, there was no way Kratos could've stopped Ares since spartan training or not, he was still just a small kid against a grown man on horseback.
it was the only time that Kratos blamed and punished himself over something that really wasn't his fault in any way, and the blame laying SQUARELY on the Greek pantheon for being so paranoid and obsessed with prophecy, that they kidnapped an innocent boy who wasn't a threat yet and had no reason to go against the gods, all to prevent a POSSIBLE disaster and in doing so, set a CERTAIN one in motion by giving Kratos the first of many reasons to want Olympus destroyed and becoming the REAL Marked Warrior from the eye scar that Ares gave him, the red tattoo he gave himself in honor of his brother, and the Ashes of his First Wife and Child marking him as the Ghost of Sparta.

They just thought people like Kratos have that skin color. Remember, there are many races in the 9 realms so a different skin color isn't that unusual. On another note, perhaps they just find it somewhat offensive like when Atreus asked why Brok is blue and Kratos seemed shocked.
