Would love to see Eversong and Azuremyst brought into the world map and updated. Was hoping Blizzard would use their garrison tech to do it. But the revamp would take a colossal amount of work. I understand why the don't do it. But that doesn't stop me from wanting it to happen one day. Also, put some portals in Silvermoon and Exodar, those cities feel entirely disconnected from the other main cities, so that's a big reason people don't go there.
"Colossal amount of work" - that's nowhere near colossal. They've fixed whole Azeroth in Cata, and added a lot of wonderful locations there too. They just have to fix one more city, copy-cut locations from Outland and paste it into Azeroth maps. Hey Hayven Games I wonder what version u use of FreeFarSight, The lastest version is still from 05-18-2016 and that one doesn't work of cause with the lastest version ow WoW.
I get freaked out too. For me, it’s because the game is designed as a world with living beings in it. Obviously it’s not but that’s how it’s designed to be. So if I ever discover off map stuff by accident I start getting this feeling that it could happen in real life. Like maybe I will accidentally clip through my living room walls and see nothing but void. Strange phobia, I know.
Why? Do you understand the resource requirements for updating an area that is used so infrequently? If you've ever been in any business leadership position, you have to consider what will give the most 'bang for your buck'. How will doing a flying revamp of Silvermoon and Exodar be a quality ROI for the majority of the player base, as well as for Blizzard?
Márk Nyilas Exactly this. The amount of people who would get benefit from the revamp would be so low that it's not worth the time and resource requirement for the revamp.
oh my god i had no idea he had passed...rest in peace, man. i only discovered your videos recently and they're phenomenal. it's a damn shame that someone so passionate had to be taken so soon
So, apparently they will finally update the zone and allow flying two expansions from now in "Midnight". But it will be likely a complete overhaul where they will basically remake the zones from scratch. Sounds nice. On the other hand, the zones today are stuck in times of being besieged by the Scourge and the Legion. After the overhaul, they will likely be forever under the Void invasion.
So, Blizzards logic is basically like this: "Let's revamp all of the Azeroth for flying!.. except Quel'Thalas. Yes, fuck Quel'Thalas, we don't like it, screw you, blood elves".
Open the map of Azeroth then and you will find both QT and AM there. What you are referring to is a technical solution on storing the data, not departure of the isles from Azeroth. This was the first video I watched from Hayven, which was shortly after he passed away. I didn’t know that until I went to his channel for more great videos, and was so saddened by it. I still come back to this specific video from time to time. I see it as a comfort video. This video is almost like a nice hug to me. It makes me feel warm and comfortable. I played a druid on a roleplaying before I stopped in Cataclysm. My druid is wearing simple leather with antlers and was logged out in the caves of Moonglade grove. Ever so rarely, I decide to enter the game - soaring the world as a bird or a drake, prowling the landscapes in animal form, watching the people, visiting favored sites and reminiscing days of old.

I remember flying on autopilot in Zul'Drak towards Gundrak while fixing me some food, when I returned back I was a spirit on the closest graveyard to crossroads in The Barrens. Like what the actual fuck? Could this also have something to do with zones not being built no way near how they are perceived on the map? We had a GM come to assist us on the matter, and the whole party-group saw him in the stairs down to Gundrak. He spawned a discoball (I'm not joking) and made us all to incredible fast Leeper Gnomes. We ran the stairs in like 1000% mount speed, it was hilarious and will never ever be forgotten. He even harrased me by launching me to the sky as the horrible leeper gnome I was, lol. In a matter of hours, I had a FEW of the most memorable and special memories I could ever ask for in WoW. This comes from a guy playing since Vanilla with most of my irl friends playing and raiding from the early days of WoW - Such a special time in all our lives. Thank you again for a wonderful video Hayven, I'm Kristiseter on twitter that wrote to you last week in a few tweets ;)
perrrry If you die in a weird way, you spawn in your factions default graveyard, the Hordes default graveyard is in the Barrens, the Alliances default graveyard is in Westfall.
When I started in vanilla I was a total noob and called a GM because of my power word fortitude (I dont remember the specifics) anyway, he helped me and then he turned into a faerie dragon and flew away. 12 year old me thought that was magical lol
Back when I played _World of Warcraft_, I made a point to do *every single quest* in both of these zones for reputation reasons... which invalidates the whole "no one goes there" argument. These places were also the homes of my Alliance and Horde bank/auction alts because of how peaceful it was... aside from random rogues and achievement raids.
But that doesn't invalidate the argument. When you're looking at a 5-10M player base, what fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent are actually like you, Joseph? 1 in every 100,000 players or so does all of the quests there / uses it for AH? Is it worth paying their expensive game engineers the money + requiring their precious time, just to do a significant overhaul to 2 starter zones?
...was it worth redoing the entire old game? Sure as fuck was...so why not do these like they did everything else? LAZINESS. Also, of that player base, at least 30% of them are aiming at full-on max rep and all quests...they DID pay for the ENTIRE game, so...play the entire game. These are people who max out every class with top gear over the course of years, why the fuck wouldn't they go even further...
DxBlack Again, it comes down to time, money, and effort. They redid the entire old area BECAUSE the rest of the game was flyable. They could do a revamp of these sections because it made sense. You're not going to add high level content to a starter area. It does not make any fiscal sense to update these 2 starter areas to be flyable. None. And how long does it take to finish up the starter areas on characters that didn't start in this area, on a high level character. 10 minutes'ish? Maybe? How is it worthwhile to drop a bunch of talent and resources into an area to make it flyable where a high level can aoe everything in sight, and be out of the area in little to no time? It really does not pay. At all.
Linked someone to this today, when they were confused after hearing someone else mention that Eversong & Azuremyst were in Outland. It's been nearly 5 years, buddy, and you're still helping teach people ='D
Even though I already know the reasons, this is an awesome video with great visuals and narration, which made it interesting to revisit the topic. Good work!
i swear they should revamp Silvermoon and azuremist in some expansion, like the orgrimmar update where it changed like everything or just a graphics and *cough* *cough* flying *cough* update
Problem with that is Orgrimmar and Stormwind are both the main hubs (even in Legion) while Exodar and Silvermoon are just too remote for the devs to bother to fix (not to mention, bloody empty usually... hell even Undercity is rather empty). Same goes to Darnassus and Ironforge and technically all the other race capitals :/
Before, for the ally Ironforge was the main capital everyone was there, always full, mainly becuse of the AH. But later when they put an AH to SW aswell, everyone gone to SW :P
They just needed to make it relevant as it's close to the Broken Isles. Instead of stupid portals, could haveships going from the Silvermoon and Darnassus...
Please cover the real location of Northrend next, or atleast how dying north of Icecrown brings you to Orgrimmar. Is it a simple bug or a closer location?
I heard that the continents are layered like a cake. If you go to xy coordinates on Kalimdor and you teleported to eastern kingdoms you would be at the same cords. The reason for that is the Kalimdor might have been the layer under ice crown and with a minor bug if you die its possible that you got teleported to the layer under it.
Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Northrend are separate maps. Coordinate system (X, Y, Z) is loaded for each map and each map has 64 cells for 2D coordinate system (X, Y). The min/max a coordinate can have is from -17066.66656 to 17066.66656.
it's a shame he won't here for battle for Azeroth :(. blizz said that because Lorderon will be changing with the Alliance moving North, that may need to look into doing something with that old zone.
Thank you for this video! I loved your older one on Silvermoon/Exodar but you have a very soothing voice and these re-done shots are awesome! Thank you for all these tasty tidbits of info we otherwise wouldn't have realised!! :D
Hayven, Thank you for putting together all these videos. Just found your channel a few days ago and these are just amazing. I truly love how you uncover all the smoke-n-mirrors designs and go behind-the-scenes that give us the immersive environments. Please keep up the awesome work!
Yet another great video, pure pleasure to watch, and I like your attitude the most! It's a shame the game developers don't even care about their universe. The direction development took is a dead end. The years ago you could feel there were passionate talented game team members - musicians, artists, writers - that believed into the lore and that one day it could become a whole infinite virtual world of fantasy - but instead it just getting more and more "another multiplayer game", with hired managers making the game "fun and profitable"...
This is actually the first vid of yours I've ever watched and I'm glad i did. I"ve always wondered about the flying in Quel'Thalas. My first toon I really played was a Blood Elf Mage and this has always bothered me. Thank you so much for explaining. No one has ever been able to give me an answer until now. Thanks again. Just subscrided because of this vid.
Come on Blizzard, with the technology you have today in 2020 there shouldn't be too much work moving these zones to Azeroth and integrate them with the maps where they belong. Then fix Silvermoon and then add flying!
The answer is _simple_ then. Remake Quel'thalas with today's tech - keep the old one and use a bronze dragon NPC to travel between one and two but only allow flying in the new versions. Then make something up like Blood Elves made rules against flying mounts by non-military/security forces to maintain peace and order, with the exception being flightmasters who have license to fly specific routes. In the 'present' timeline, those laws were lifted during the reconstruction of Silvermoon. Boom, solved. Once it's Azuremyst's time for a remake, they can just do the same thing. No need to customize the old or hunt down all the invisible walls. Just make a new version for a new timeline. Players would still spawn in the original Azuremyst/Farstrider Isle. This opens up Quel'thalas and Azuremyst for high level players and a whole new map built on the old to quest again. But as we know, Blizzard's MO has never been about perfecting what they had and building on it, it has always been about building new systems and reskins while trashing the old ones. So this is unlikely to happen.
Great video, I saw the first one too but this was much more detailed, so I enjoyed going over the same information again because the quality of content was so good, hope you're feeling well! :)
Hope that somedays Blizzard will continue the story on Silvermoon and update the entire zone, maybe when they find a new purpose for the Empire of Zul'Aman. Thanks for exploring and showing us all this zones Hayven :), as a student of game design it's always awesome to see videos like the ones you do :D ^^
I would love to see how the starting area for demon hunters and the vault of wardens intro questline for demon hunters really looks, especially near the end of the vault when we meet with khadgar.
you can see it yourself with a beta game and an emulator called artium wow ... you can fly and increase the flight speed and see mar'dum( or how is it spelled )
Man, I miss you almost every other day. Your videos keep popping up in my recommended and I then remember you are no longer here. Hope your family is doing well, RIP Hayven.
You're awesome. I rewatch all of your videos anyway, so it amazing that you're actively working on new things and revitalizing the old stuff. I'm not sure if I have seen it done before, thank you!!
im not hardcore wow fan but i just got this in my recommendation i never knew who's Hayven and just as am i going to comment i got hit by reality .. may you RIP man
I'll never forget the PTR for patch 4.1, where they briefly introduced flying in the Ghostlands for the revamp of Zul'Aman. It was so easy to sneak your flying mount from ghostlands into Eversong however, that they decided to just do away with the Ghostlands flying option altogether.
Please do "how it really looks" in isle of conquest or strand of the ancients! There's a lot of small islands surrounding that bgs. In isle of conquest some of those islands have small structures (such as a chapel) and stationary ships!
Although lacking information, I did like your older version of this better, mostly because of the music and how having just the text allowed you to enjoy the feeling of the zones.
I just learned of this channel and person thanks to Bellulargaming, it's a damn shame Hayven has passed, this is very good content, rest in peace Hayven, hope you are solving the riddles of the universe now
i would love a new expansion of wow where there is no new zones, no new lvl cap. Just a remake of the whole game and zones (maybe a little bit like cataclysm)
I've said this for a while too. I'd love for the old zones to get a graphics overhaul so it looks like zones you'd see in legion, warlods or mist of pandaria. There are so many unique zones in azeroth but they all look pretty crappy. I think an overhaul like this would bring a lot of new players to wow since a lot of people don't want to play it right now as most of the world looks crappy. Leveling new characters would be a lot of fun too now even for vetaran players if the old zones got overhauled. I would also love an overhaul to the combat system to make it a bit more like an action-rpg. Stuff like you actually have to aim your spells and attacks and roll-dogding would be implemented would make the combat so much more fun.
The feels when UA-cam recommends a Hayven video to you 😢

Thank you again for a wonderful video Hayven, I'm Kristiseter on twitter that wrote to you last week in a few tweets ;)
that is just the area you go if you die and the game doesn't know where to put you
The spirit healer got confused mate, jeez, give them a rest (no pun intended).
perrrry If you die in a weird way, you spawn in your factions default graveyard, the Hordes default graveyard is in the Barrens, the Alliances default graveyard is in Westfall.
When I started in vanilla I was a total noob and called a GM because of my power word fortitude (I dont remember the specifics) anyway, he helped me and then he turned into a faerie dragon and flew away. 12 year old me thought that was magical lol
great content man!
I've fallen through Silvermoon, you seemingly fall forever and I think at one point I even left the skybox and I was falling in a dark blue void
RIP Hayven!
thank you for all the content
we miss you bud
RIP BUDDY , YOU WILL LIVE ON AMONG US !!!! sad day for all of us ...... dammit
Wait, but he uploaded just last week.
Artrysa His family uploaded that last video. in the description of that video they explain everything.
I'm really sad now...
Back when I played _World of Warcraft_, I made a point to do *every single quest* in both of these zones for reputation reasons... which invalidates the whole "no one goes there" argument. These places were also the homes of my Alliance and Horde bank/auction alts because of how peaceful it was... aside from random rogues and achievement raids.
it's just zero, compared to goldshire or such
But that doesn't invalidate the argument.
Good work!
i swear they should revamp Silvermoon and azuremist in some expansion, like the orgrimmar update where it changed like everything or just a graphics and *cough* *cough* flying *cough* update
gotta wait another 10 years, you're welcome
Problem with that is Orgrimmar and Stormwind are both the main hubs (even in Legion) while Exodar and Silvermoon are just too remote for the devs to bother to fix (not to mention, bloody empty usually... hell even Undercity is rather empty). Same goes to Darnassus and Ironforge and technically all the other race capitals :/
Before, for the ally Ironforge was the main capital everyone was there, always full, mainly becuse of the AH. But later when they put an AH to SW aswell, everyone gone to SW :P
Silvermoon was empty even in TBC, except for the first few days of expansion
They just needed to make it relevant as it's close to the Broken Isles.
Instead of stupid portals, could haveships going from the Silvermoon and Darnassus...
Please cover the real location of Northrend next, or atleast how dying north of Icecrown brings you to Orgrimmar. Is it a simple bug or a closer location?
might be a bug. who knows
+OmegaTGames Cool theory. I think it would be interesting to see someone (cough*cough*havyen*cough) make a video going in depth / debunking this.
😉
Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Northrend are separate maps. Coordinate system (X, Y, Z) is loaded for each map and each map has 64 cells for 2D coordinate system (X, Y). The min/max a coordinate can have is from -17066.66656 to 17066.66656.
I once dced in the elevator down to undercity and ended up swimming in the air in stonetalon mountains
Awesome video !
There is something about your voice combined with the music its so chill , feels so good to watch and listen. good job
it's a shame he won't here for battle for Azeroth :(. blizz said that because Lorderon will be changing with the Alliance moving North, that may need to look into doing something with that old zone.
Thank you for this video! I loved your older one on Silvermoon/Exodar but you have a very soothing voice and these re-done shots are awesome! Thank you for all these tasty tidbits of info we otherwise wouldn't have realised!! :D
Rest in peace great hero. Your videos were, are and always will be a source of extreme inspiration to us all.
Hayven, Thank you for putting together all these videos. Just found your channel a few days ago and these are just amazing. I truly love how you uncover all the smoke-n-mirrors designs and go behind-the-scenes that give us the immersive environments. Please keep up the awesome work!
Hayven definately had the best WoW videos out there...wish he had more time to make more vids...rip man
Yet another great video, pure pleasure to watch, and I like your attitude the most!
I watch this so often. I just find the topic and video interesting and his voice is very calming to listen to. Rest in peace ...
Oh my gawd, this was recommended and I thought it was a new video in my sub box rip man miss you 😞
A new fan enjoying your wonderful content. I pray you are resting in everlasting love and serenity. 💜
Damn i miss this guy R.I.P
Lok'tar brother, we will never forget you. R.I.P.
May you have many secrets to explore where ever you go.
I came back here just to hear his voice. We love you Hayven!
RIP hayven. Thanks for the great content.
Miss this little guy so much. I hope you're enjoying it wherever you are. RIP Hayven
Come on Blizzard, with the technology you have today in 2020 there shouldn't be too much work moving these zones to Azeroth and integrate them with the maps where they belong. Then fix Silvermoon and then add flying!
Apart from the RP community, it seems nobody goes there. : /
@@silver4831 I go there just to explore my map with every new char I make...and every effin time...
@@_____J______ Or just use an addon like Mapster.
It seems there is a rule to keep old zones as old as possible to make people run to new expansion asap.
Found this in my recommended today, Rest in Peace, Hayven.
Me as well, RIP :(
Great video, I saw the first one too but this was much more detailed, so I enjoyed going over the same information again because the quality of content was so good, hope you're feeling well! :)
rip my boi. still on my recommended list
Well done as always! Love your narrated videos so much, your voice is really relaxing to listen to.
Rest in peace man.
Sadly i wasn't able to come to his funural but your fellow paladin brothers and sisters will miss you Hayven may you be at a better place.
Rest In Peace buddy... cheers for your existence
Rest in peace dear brother
You're awesome. I rewatch all of your videos anyway, so it amazing that you're actively working on new things and revitalizing the old stuff. I'm not sure if I have seen it done before, thank you!!
I hope he is in a better place
The music for the blood isles is maybe my fav music in game
Rest in peace hayven
Another amazing vid Hayven!! I always use your facts in my conversations with WoW friends. Then I send em to your channel!
Appreciate that ;)
im not hardcore wow fan but i just got this in my recommendation i never knew who's Hayven and just as am i going to comment i got hit by reality .. may you RIP man
I'll never forget the PTR for patch 4.1, where they briefly introduced flying in the Ghostlands for the revamp of Zul'Aman. It was so easy to sneak your flying mount from ghostlands into Eversong however, that they decided to just do away with the Ghostlands flying option altogether.
what a legend
Rest in peace friend
The quality of content you put out is seriously amazing.
Please do "how it really looks" in isle of conquest or strand of the ancients! There's a lot of small islands surrounding that bgs. In isle of conquest some of those islands have small structures (such as a chapel) and stationary ships!
The videos that you narrate are so good. Thanks for the work you do, great content.
Rest in peace Hayven :(
Although lacking information, I did like your older version of this better, mostly because of the music and how having just the text allowed you to enjoy the feeling of the zones.
RIP Hayven
You can fly anywhere now
1min of silence for this good man 😩
Today when I was trying to do Midsummer stuff and went to Silvermoon, I was reminded of this video. RIP man.
Rip 😢
I just learned of this channel and person thanks to Bellulargaming, it's a damn shame Hayven has passed, this is very good content, rest in peace Hayven, hope you are solving the riddles of the universe now
in reality blizz just doesn't want you to reach the tattered chest on top of the west sanctum
Truly amazing videos, Rest In Peace man
Wish I had the chance to ask you a few more questions man.
Sorry to hear about the loss. Your videos were always informative.
Thanks to you, now they'll start to work on these 2 places! Great video and it's a shame that I'm just seeing this now. 😔
he died three days ago
no he didn't
yes he did
he died over a month ago
Hayven, you are the archaeologist of the virtual worlds, unearthing the makings of the developers-gods. Love those so well done videos, gg!
i would love a new expansion of wow where there is no new zones, no new lvl cap. Just a remake of the whole game and zones (maybe a little bit like cataclysm)
Waste of time and money.
