So many people complaining about Harley targeting millennials for sales. Do people seriously expect Harley to sell only to current 50+ year-olds until they die?
shadetree surgeon holy shit you follow blockhead #fuckyea. big fan man love yalls channels and i can see why but i actually like it 😂😂 i mean id replace the ugly headlight though..... idk ima fan of round eyes
I've been watching oodles of videos on the new Fat Bob. Yours is the first and only video that shows a rider on the bike and tells viewers his height. Spot on man.
I absolutely fell in love with the bike due to the style of it and the fact that it looks so aggressive. Especially in person. To be honest, I am considering purchasing the 2018 Fat Bob as a first and last bike.
Why does a lot of people hate the new Harley's? Shouldn't people be happy that Harley expands it's horizons and puts out more options out there for different people?
Remember it's the internet, where it's kinda a unwritten law that you never post anything positive ,lol.Srsly ., ppl just love to bitch and no matter what HD does or builds some ppl will post hate, you can't plse everyone all the time. ,and then there are some ppl that you can't please NONE of the time. We all have "that one friend" that is just a miserable mf'er and ain't ever happy with anything, if they win a million dollars they bitch about havin' to pay taxes on it rather than be thrilled at the money they DO get .If you can't find a bike you like in HD's line up as many models as they have, the problem ain't with HD, it's with YOU. ,that's what I tell 'em.
Old school Harley riders will definitely hate the new update for sure. My 3 co workers are old school, to them it's hard to accept the new generation Harley. It's doses not feel like a Harley.
Apparently you can get a little bit more power on these engine mounts, probably thats why the went for it, but most likely they will go back on thise decision, the thing about HD is that all the technology is added little by little without changing drastically the aesthetics and feeling, and by doing this is a complete 180, thats the problem. Is not that we don´t like changes, is that we don´t like unnecessary changes, specially if its just for a stupid trend. Look at the street 750, it worked out great, but the street rod? that one sucks, it looks nothing like a harley and is too hipster-ish, thats what is happening here, it feel forced. In HD there is no place for 'performance', they are quick enough and the best air cooled engines, but you don´t get a harley to ride fast and to scrap pegs, these babies are too expensive and pretty to be doing that shit, so, nobody cares about getting 10 or 20hp and "better" suspension if that means changing the entire meaning of the bike. Where did the Wide glide go? that is sad.
Really love the Fat Bob design. Was looking at Ducatis, but just stopped by Harley to take a look around. Saw the Fat Bob and immediately loved it. Going with Harley now.
These new Harleys are NOT rubber mounted. They are rigid mounted to the frame because the motor itself is counter balanced and Harley got feedback that people didnt like how little vibration they were getting with the new motor, one of the reasons the power transfer is better. the monoshock and rigid mount is what giving the motorcycle a stiffer feel and greater transfer of power. that salesmen needs to learn his product.
I can't really understand all that hate for the 2018 lineup. I fell in love for the new Fat Bob on first sight. After reading the specs, it seems like it delivers all the things I was looking for in my Low Rider S (that I sold a few months ago): a torqy V-twin-powerhouse, nice ground clearance, good suspension and brakes plus a mean look.
FLOB32 it's hard to understand the hate because you are analytical and are able to comprehend and accept change and improvement. Closed minded people and trolls cannot. Enjoy your HD and ride safe.
I took both of these for a one hour ride each. Loved the two of them. The new 114 breakout was the favorite. Big difference from last models. As I cannot afford a new one at the time I found an older fat bob of which I am a real true fan. Raw riding at its beat. I kept my present ride alao.
Love the look of the new Fat Bob, looks like a tough bike not a flashy, chromed out bike with a ridiculous paint job. I personally didn't like Harley before these new bikes. I took the 2018 Fat Bob out for a test ride and loved it so much I ordered one! From a business perspective Harley made the right choice to change and attract new customers. It worked for me and it will bring new riders over which Harley needs. Nothing stays the same forever.
The reason Harley made these new line of motorcycles was to appeal to millenials like Blockhead. The aesthetics are a move to the comtemporary faction that is this new generation. The nostalgic look of vintage Harley's (watch the opening scene of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man to see what vintage Harley is) has expired and the "biker" image has changed. These bikes are a real testimony to where the motorcycle industry as an inclusive whole are going. Its not a bad thing at all but just not what old guys like me and the rest of us are used to.
Gen X here. I never liked the ride of HDs and preferred the look of other bikes. This is the first HD I lust over. I absolutely hated the vibrating rides of the older HDs and I bought other bikes. When my next bike purchase comes up, the Fat Bob is at the top of the list. Garbage is what I thought of previous HDs and to me, they're finally starting to make good bikes and not cater to the older crowd.
The younger generation wants Dynas. Not softtails. I recommend checking out Lee Stuart's video on his thought of the new line up. He is the type of guy that makes HDs appeal to younger people.
Eric R I may be wrong but I always assumed that they intended to blur the speedo so that there's no hard evidence that they were going 75 in a 25 for example.
Cheers Blockhead! First review online I think. I tried the Low rider S and was unsure really, I will try the Fat Bob as well, problem with Harley in the uk is the prices, the Fat Bob 114 is nearly as much as a Ducati XDiavel here which is an astonishingly powerful and well equipped Cruiser, you would have to really, REALLY, want a HD badge on your tank to spring for one here but I could be tempted by this one.....
I was upset when i first heard the dyna was gone but after reading into it. i'm glad it is, because the old softail is gone too. Harley gave us a brand new bike from the ground up. The rear suspension actually looks worth a damn for once. Too all the people who are pissed at Harley for dropping the dyna, you are the same type of person that caused the FXR and the Vrod to be a failure. Loosing your mind every time the motor company changes anything. This is Harley investing in its future and a modern bike with modern performance is what i wanted to see. Hopefully the sportsters and touring bikes get a ground up rebuild soon
I don't see how they're ugly. I think the Fatbob is great looking and modern. It was about time they changed things up a bit. If it wasn't for the price I would definitely look into one in the future.
At the dealer meeting (seen on youtube. I wasn't there) they said they are all rigid mounted. The smoothness at idle is from twin counter-balancers. Also, we have the same thought regarding the size of the fuel tank. It's about a gallon too small.
+1 They are rigid mounted, that was my bad. I read an article when the Milwaukee 8 came out that it was rubber mounted, but seems that's in their touring line, and they've gone rigid in the new rollout for the Softails.
It’s not they’ve “gone” rigid, it’s that they’ve stayed rigid. Softails have always been counterbalanced. Touring bikes never have been until this year with that new engine. Get on a 13’ or older touring bike and it will shake your hand numb at idle. Get on a 14’-16’ with those Rushmore improvements and, in my opinion, they are smoother. Now, get on a 17’ touring bike and it’s more like my 2005 Heritage. Not completely smooth at idle but pretty close. I’ve wanted a touring bike for as long as I can remember but I’ve always hated that shaking at idle (a lot of people love it). I’ve test ridden every model of the 17’ touring line and I like all of them. Huge improvements, at least for me.
Ever hear of a hard break in? I don't know if I'd risk it on a new bike if I bought it, but I've heard from a few sources that it's legit. Plus, I'm sure these will be demo bikes until 5-10k miles or so, then they'll be sold with a pretty significant discount, because who wants to buy a demo bike? XD
Blockhead, thanks for the review. The first I have seen on youtube. Now I own a 2017 Slim S and Sporty 72, I also had a softail custom with the Evo engine and a sporty 883. I am a huge Harley fan, and to me these new motorcycles is a move in the correct direction. Even my Harley Hating Sport bike friends think these new bikes look awesome. So thumbs up to Harley and thumbs up to you for another awesome video!
Blockhead you are the man!! Test ride the day of deliveries, awesome!! I like the new fat bob, even the exhaust. Yeah all the softails are Rigid Mounted. Dual counterbalanced makes it possible. One more thing the haters do not have too complain about, lol.
To each his/her own. Personally I think it is bad ass!! I'm still set on eventually getting a Lowrider S used, but the Fat Bob is dope! We'll see if I can reach this forward controls!🤞🏼
See now, THIS is a great review of the Fat Bob. I am already a fan, and seriously wish I could afford to get a MC, let alone this one, but every other Fat Bob review I have watched, has left me wanting more information.
This was a surprise, thx for making this video so fast! This is a bittersweet, the fat bob was the first HD I test rode and it was love at first ride, love the fat tires, the seat, the dual headlamps, the only thing I don't like is the foot forward riding position, because of this I considered the lowrider S because it has the best ergonomics for me, but now it looks like they're not doing the dynas anymore, which is weird because they had good sales with the lowrider s.
So I guess the ultimate question. How does it compare to the Low Rider S? I've personally test ridden a LRS and absolutely love it. Mostly because of its little bit higher seating position, decent handling and excellent brakes, the power of the 110 doesn't hurt either. If this new platform is that much better I hope that they do a Low Rider S on the new platform (though with the 5.0 gallon tank, after all the 2017 has a 4.7 gallon tank).
Cool paint scheme on the '18 H-D Fat Bob and a nice seat. Those bars look like a straight broomstick though and 3.5 gallons is one gal. too small for that size gulper. But hey, H-D made it to the 21st century with a rear mono & a radiator between the front downtubes!
Like the looks for sure, but killin off the dyna line up? Quess time will tell. Harley gave all you dyna owners a golden ticket with resell value for sure!
Hey thanks Joe,, I thought somebody had commented that all the M Eights were dual counterbalanced.. I was pretty sure that only the touring models were single counter.. S..
Robert Hellings The new Harleys are so ugly and non Harley in looks and feel that they will be overlooked by most of the HD lovers of the world. This is the beginning of the end for Harley Davidson. RIP...
I test rode the 2019 114s and I want one. They are perfect for these crowned 2 lane blacktop roads out here. H.D. finally put fat & somewhat tall rubber on which makes handling much better. Now, they just need to get rid of those tractor style mufflers. My favorite is straights with slip in baffles. That's inside the pipe, not slip on mufflers.
Hey man! Thanks for that review! You pretty much covered everything, you certainly made my decision easier! I even like the head light in that bike, not at first but everytime I look at it grows in my eyes!
This bike is insane! I was planning to buy a Fat Bob already, but this new model is just amazing. I think I'll wait for this beauty to land here in Brazil before I take any decisions.
I like the new Fat Bob, except for the headlight. I still prefer the look of the twin lights on the previous Fat Bob. This one looks like a cartoon cyclops. Maybe it will grow on me.
The Monoshock is definitely going to change the ride,, due to the positioning,, I just put on a set of twin shotgun hydraulic air shocks On my deluxe.. you can change the ride height from almost bottom and out,,all the way up to 6 inches in the rear if you want.. with the flick of a switch,, and not too bad if you install them yourself.. Check them out they're called twin shotgun shocks. S in FL..
Alright. We are gonna begin introducing modern features. That is what people want. Cool. What kind of motorcycle are you thinking of building? What do you mean? Well, like adventure, naked, sport.... ? Cruiser. Cruiser? Yea. Cruiser.
The white Fat Bob is great looking. The bike didn't sound too HD-like however. But I'd imagine with headers and an engine upgrade higher performance kit (which will be available by 3rd party entities such as Fuel Moto) this bike will be a real screamer and joy to ride.
I bought a 2018 Fat Bob. Absolutely loved it. However, after a few minutes it made my hands numb. I tried everything I could think of. Had to get rid of it because I couldn’t feel my hands while riding.
I'm over in Clearwater and I just bought the 2021 Fat Bob from Bert's, fits me much better than the Lowrider S. Would be cool to come hang out with you and Shadetree
The only reason I would give up my 2017 fat bob for this is if they had also given it a hydraulic clutch on top of the other stuff. The new motor is nice but I'm not sure if it's worth the upgrade since my bike has more than enough power for me. I like the look of the two rear shocks, but if the new set up is just as good or better i'd give them up.

Fat bob is definitely my favorite out of the bunch, although I get why people would hate it haha
+shadetree surgeon Yeah I definitely understand why people would dislike it, haha. It's a fun ride though man!
I agree. Personally like the look of a round headlight but the oval/rectangle one on the Bob looks awesome. Really unique looking bike from HD.

Harley is just adapting to the new market. New crowd new bikes. Smart move.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HARLEY ENGINE ROAR ?
Yep and they got me. I had ZERO interest in Harley until I saw this bike. Now I own the same one
Another millennial here who just bought this bike.

3.5g fuel tank is too small. Just my opinion. Isn't it rigid mounted, not rubber? Assume vid, thanks. You might be the first I have seen. :)
At the dealer meeting (seen on youtube. I wasn't there) they said they are all rigid mounted. The smoothness at idle is from twin counter-balancers. Also, we have the same thought regarding the size of the fuel tank. It's about a gallon too small.
Terry George All "soft tails" are ridged mount, with counterbalancers
Terry George I hate everything about the tank. I think it is cheap and stupid looking. As you said it doesn't hold enough fuel.
I’ve test ridden every model of the 17’ touring line and I like all of them. Huge improvements, at least for me.
I don't get some of the internet hate with the new bikes. This is the first Fat Bob that Harley has made that I'd park in my garage. Nice vid!
So much for the break in period...

That's a myth. The break-in period is for the rider not the bike.
Blockhead, thanks for the review. The first I have seen on youtube.

Hey man! Thanks for that review! You pretty much covered everything, you certainly made my decision easier! I even like the head light in that bike, not at first but everytime I look at it grows in my eyes!
By the way, is there a selected gear indicator or only neutral?
Thats awesome you got to test it out. I'm not on board with the ducati fat bob. Im sure it handles nice etc etc just looks like a diavel
I have a 2015 Fat Bob and it’s my favorite bike I’ve owned. Wouldn’t mind taking that 114 breakout out for a spin though.
Can't wait to go ride one! Thanks for the review
Wow, I may have to upgrade from my 2015 Fat Bob! Any indication on what will be available (or when) for aftermarket pipes to release its growl?
I love the Fat Bob. One of these days...
This bike is insane! I was planning to buy a Fat Bob already, but this new model is just amazing. I think I'll wait for this beauty to land here in Brazil before I take any decisions.
I did test rides on the Fat Bob, Fat Boy, and the Breakout today; all 114’s. I’m thinking that I liked the Fat Bob the best of the 3.
Im 6' 260 you think it will be a good fit for my size im looking in to riding street bikes rode dirt bikes bit will be new to street
I like the new Fat Bob, and I don't even really like Harleys
I like the blurred out tach and Speedo when you get on it lol
I went from an Iron 883 to one of these. These machines are awesome! I just wish I could have kept both.
Hey MR BLOCKHEAD, what kind of extenders are those on your handlebar you mounted your mirrors on? I like those
I'm not a huge fan of Harley's but some of them look great. That fat Bob looks great to me
I like the new Fat Bob, except for the headlight. I still prefer the look of the twin lights on the previous Fat Bob. This one looks like a cartoon cyclops. Maybe it will grow on me.
Nice speedo blur! lol
some power...... fatbob is the best . man that power . this is the Hulk of the bikes
With the new dual counter balanced engine, how was the vibartions at the stop light ?,and I'm loving the new street Bob
The Monoshock is definitely going to change the ride,, due to the positioning,, I just put on a set of twin shotgun hydraulic air shocks
On my deluxe.. you can change the ride height from almost bottom and out,,all the way up to 6 inches in the rear if you want.. with the flick of a switch,, and not too bad if you install them yourself..
Check them out they're called twin shotgun shocks. S in FL..
Alright. We are gonna begin introducing modern features. That is what people want.
Cool. What kind of motorcycle are you thinking of building?
What do you mean?
Well, like adventure, naked, sport.... ?
Cruiser.
Cruiser?
Yea. Cruiser.
I'm a 2014 Low Rider guy but that fat bob looks good.
Thanks for the review.
I'm not a Harley fan. But I might be one. The fat Bob is a beauty. It rocks.
I think the Fat Bob looks awesome! If I were willing to shell out 10 grand more for a Harley Davidson logo, I would be all over it.
The white Fat Bob is great looking. The bike didn't sound too HD-like however. But I'd imagine with headers and an engine upgrade higher performance kit (which will be available by 3rd party entities such as Fuel Moto) this bike will be a real screamer and joy to ride.
The torque is fantastic, I got a wheelie on a turn once, it's crazy.
Finally Harley makes a bike that's a lot more durable, with less vibration and more power.
I bought a 2018 Fat Bob. Absolutely loved it. However, after a few minutes it made my hands numb. I tried everything I could think of. Had to get rid of it because I couldn’t feel my hands while riding.
Man, I love the look of the new fat bob!
I'm over in Clearwater and I just bought the 2021 Fat Bob from Bert's, fits me much better than the Lowrider S. Would be cool to come hang out with you and
Shadetree
super cool video, great editing and shooting!
