I agree! His grandfather is a SAGE in your pocket! You really should write the lessons he’s taught you in a notebook. You never know when you’ll need that book! ❤️
Neil Young has such a hauntingly magnetic voice. All his songs come from the ❤️. So nice you have such a great relationship with your grandpa. The generations can learn a lot from each other!
Neil Young is probably one of my all time favorite "old school" rockers, and "Old Man" probably one of my all time favorites by him. If you haven't heard it before, check out "Sugar Mountain". It's one of the lessor played/known tunes and it's so damned sweet.
Heart of Gold is somehow even better. the reason they push this great music back is because the way it just made you feel... you felt the love inherent in it, and we live in a society that is pushing hard to have everyone living in fear. "those who are unaware they are walking in darkness will never seek the light" - Bruce Lee
Every generation goes through its growing pains. The issues may not be exactly the same, but we all have had to work our way through them. Therefore, because we are so similar in our experiences, we should respect each other and try to better understand what each generation has or is dealing with. That's what this song means to me.
I've never been a huge Neil Young fan, but this solo performance is just flat-out amazing to me. I've probably watched it 30 or 40 times. Doesn't get much better than this.
I don't know what t it is about some songs, but this one touches something in my mind that takes me back to my childhood. And it is just so very iconic...its just special, as is Neil Young himself. Amazing song writer and musician. He is so freakin young here too...yet look at the amazing talent an insight even than, as a young performer.
Love Neil Young what a voice....thanks it was wonderful living in the 60's and 70's so many good groups and singers came out of these years it was so nice listening to them when they first came out i was junior high ....high school age so buying records was great my dad would let me and my sister buy a 59cent record every week such good memories....
Never stop listening to your grandpa!!! NEVER!!!!🤟😉🎵🎶🎼💜 You should bring your amazing grandpa on with you and share this great man in your life with us!!💜💜💜💜
Great song! I doubt Neil had any idea how iconic this performance would become, along with his performance of "Heart of Gold" during this same concert. You should react to that video next. It's awesome, and he also plays the harmonica.
This song always makes me think of the conversations I never got a chance to have with my dad. He's been gone 43 years now. Cherish your grandfather, listen to him, learn from him.
I love your reactions! I'm 64 years old an love to see your reaction to such a wide variety of music. Our stories are in the music...even music with no words.
This song has always been in my top 50 songs of all time - meaning I never tire of it, still feel emotional hearing it after all these years & listens, and musically is just a classic. It’s my favorite Neil Young song and I love his older stuff and his stuff with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Hey James! Great Song, I love that he looked at someone older and can see himself looking for love and purpose. The line where he said ...doesn’t mean that much to me to mean that much to you... that really hit me like how we really don’t appreciate how much we mean to older people who really love us so much. Great Reaction!
This live (no autotune, no nothing) performance is just 1 year shy of 50 years old. I have had and loved the Harvest album for many years. Neil is a genius song writer.....great choice from your Grandpa!!!!
Beautiful reaction. Old Man was my Dad’s favourite song. He passed away in January of this year of ALS at 75. We had such a wonderful relationship, and music gave us an amazing connection. Neil Young is such a talented Canadian icon, and all of his music resonates with me 🇨🇦. He is also very prolific, creating music for over 50 years , from Buffalo Springfield, CSNY, with Crazy Horse and solo. A few of my favourites, For What It’s Worth (Buffalo Springfield), Ohio (CSNY), Needle and the Damage Done, My My Hey Hey, Long May You Run (with Steven Stills), Cinnamon Girl. Love that your Grandpa suggested to this. ❤️
Such a beautiful song! Your Grandfather is the best, he recognize Neil Young great talent. I agree this kind of music should be playing so the younger generation can listen to it and appreciate good music.
I didn't get to know any of my grandfathers, so I feel especially happy that you're having such deep and meaningful conversations with your grandpa. Another great song choice!
@@cici7333 So true!! 💜 The very first video I saw him do a year ago I was blown away by how 100% genuine James is. Wears his heart on his sleeve, and I adore that about him.
If you appreciate Neil Young's music I'd like you to hear the Needle and the Damage Done it says so much a from years ago to now to probably forever sadly love and peace to you hope you hear it hope you play it for us
My dad was a big Neil Young fan and at 31 this song popped up on Pandora. Made me start crying and wrote him a long over do letter to explain my love and appreciation for him.
The one, the only, Neil Young. My generation. Absolute best version of this song. So awesome that you had an old man, young man thing with your gramps❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's a GREAT song! One of my favorites from Neil Young. Watch the video from Jimmy Fallon performing it with him. You can relate to this song, and that's awesome! I love the expression on your face. It was meant for you to hear it. We're missing the singer song writers from back then. I so appreciate the fact that you and others are taking the time to learn about my music, my generation. Thank you!
I could see the emotion coming over your face. I think this song to get you hard like it does many people. Such a beautiful song, but yet sad and uplifting all at the same time. I’m so glad your grandfather asked you to do this reaction and I love your insight on how they want you to push the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s music back. You’re right today’s music just isn’t the same. You’re very wise to see that at your age. I really enjoyed your reaction. Every time I hear the song I tear up, But it’s one of my all-time favorite performances by Neil Young. Thank you so much!

One of my favorite artists, one of my favorite songs. Glad you have a great relationship with your grandfather. This is my first time watching your reactions. It won't be the last. Thank you.
It's such a classic. I, too get choked up because it rings so true! Songs drift to you at a poignant time....connecting so many emotions. No need to share the story for your face says it all. Bless you for sharing. 🖤

Neil Young was 24 when he performed this and 50 years later he's still performing. Beautiful song 🎵
Watching your face comprehend why your Grandfather wanted you to do this song made me tear up a little.
Damn - who's chopping those onions ...
For real though!! Same here. I knew what the message was. I miss my Grandpa so much.
looks like it did that to a few
Made me tear up too. 😭🙏❤️
This is what music is for, those moments.
The reason they’re trying to push this music back is because if they did hear this stuff, people would start demanding better music.
Susan Maggiora - your explanation is right on the money. 🇬🇧👍
I'm 44 years old, and I listened to the top ten on spotify out of pure curiosity . I actually really liked a lot of what I heard.
They would start demanding social change, as well.

Harvest Moon is a beautiful song, no question. To hear a different but equally wonderful take on it search it here on YT by Foxes and Fossils.
The sweetest love song ever. Yes to Harvest Moon.
The melody of his acoustic guitar is so sweet and beautiful. Neil's voice is so sincere. Great song. ✌
