Watching these games/highlights from this era (1975-78) gives me genuine goosebumps and reminds me of Sunday night BBQs as a teenager at my aunt and uncle's place watching Seven's Big League on their new colour set with all the cousins and other relatives when it was standing room only in the lounge room.
Agree. I played juniors with one of the Norths players and he missed 2 tackles in the tries featured. Very rare for him to miss a tackle that said the standard a lot higher in first grade than Jersey Flegg Presidents Cup from our days in Juniors.
6:13 Bill Mullins. My mate and I visited him in Petersham Hospital back in the 70's after he broke his leg. What a top bloke. We were only about 12 years old at the time and he treated us like little mates. I met Brett (Bill's son) many, many years later in a Kings X club. What a flog he was.
I went to a local rugby league match in Wagga Wagga in early season 1979 with my dad and I noted that Bill Mullins was playing. I did not realise at the time, and still cannot recall, the actual club sides. On the way in some kids were asking us who was going to win and I asked back as to which sides were playing. I did hear some on-field banter in general play, as in " Bill......Billy Mullins ! ", sort of thing, insofar as him being the ' big timer ' of that selection.
Parramatta versus Balmain. The first encounter was a closely contested, physically vigorous and contentious match with, as I heard, Pringle being heavily in the mix. The second encounter was Phil Mann up the guts, shreds the Tigers wholesale. Not exactly in those words but that was the back page story on it.
This is fantastic stuff EagleEric- well done from Tomytiger20. Btw if you ever manage to upload highlights of 1977 Balmain vs Parramatta at Leichhardt then that would be a huge improvement upon my audio-only upload at ua-cam.com/video/OQQYjXnO-No/v-deo.htmlsi=ai4jJePDLOy3NnTC
Good on you mate. Otherwise the 1977 minor prelim semi between Balmain & Manly would good instead if you have it. I could only uploaded it on audio as well at ua-cam.com/video/UfAweKQTgVQ/v-deo.htmlsi=DmvOYfyjlvwyohez
Ok not a prob mate- thanks for letting me know. If you ever know of any missing games then let me know and I’ll have a search in my archives. I might have some very early ‘80 games to upload in the future.
A superb collection of tries. Very exciting. Thanks Eagle Eric
Glad you enjoyed it

Was Brett Bill's son or Russell's son?
@@eagleeric2598 Bill's.
No South’s and very little on Norths, Newtown and Penrith. 😮

Huge crowds back in the days. I'm cracking up at the sideline cameraman assistant running alongside him with his Ghostbuster backpack lol.
@@magnumpi8097 Yes would not be allowed today.
They would have orange cones, stop and go signs and orange vests everywhere.
Footage looks beautiful. Pity we don’t have the full matches. I’d be watching them 24/7.
So do I
Classc Saints 11:20 and 13:25 and 18:30 starring my hero lord Ted Goodwin.
Once langlands had gone baths first moves was to put Goodwin to fullback and what happens😵💫mmm premiers
3:07 Yep forward
Wow Penrith scored a try and noone jumped all over him.

Nice to see a belmore mudbath.
Love this from 1977, did I see Billy Thompson the referee in one game?
Great spotting

Fulton still looks horrible in a roosters jersey.
@@Paininthrneck being a Manly supporter, all I saw was his missed tackles. Seriously, a great competitor

@tomytiger20 just checked, all I have of the 2 games are the 2 tries that are in the 1977 Rugby League tries episode.
