ARTHUR - written & directed by STEVE GORDON
A drunken Arthur arrives at Linda's door in the middle of the night.
"This is a goner." This movie is one of my favorite comedies.
"Pardon me...Oh you're a hedge" LOL
Dudley was nominated for best actor here, and for good reason. He was a veteran comedy actor and writer, one half of a great British comedy duo, and a self-professed expert on “acting drunk”.
He was also drop dead funny at improvising, and a gifted jazz pianist, to name a few of his talents.
This movie, is comedy magic and gold.
And yes, “Don’t you just hate Perry’s wife”, is a classic movie line, like many of the lines from this classic movie.
Also, her father’s reaction to her turning down the money.... is priceless.
I watched this movie high as hell and couldn't stop laughing those little 1 liners just kill me "Don't you hate Perry's wife?" so funny
dude man, & Dude Man yourself, love your comment. I came here for Ah you're a hedge & dinner napkin holder fiasco. Your thoughts? 🙂✌️ Oh & I'm high as heck 🌿😁✌️
Ok ok… so you were high. :)
Cool share and share alike my good man😂😂😂
Me too
"Hi Linda! Can I come in - don't you hate Perry's wife?"
What I love about this line - and so many lines in Arthur - is the fact the dialogue, in and of itself, isn't necessarily hilarious. It's the _delivery_.
Exactly. The Stooges weren't brilliant but they had timing. Thesedays we get LAUGH AT THIS...and it's empty.
That's why Dudley Moore was literally the ABSOLUTE PERFECT choice for this role
@@tylermankins2960 And he knew when to pull it back. :)
The scene of him trying to assemble that letter holder should have won awards...
Dudley Moore has got to be one of the greatest comic actors that ever lived! This film is a classic... an absolute tears rolling down the face, gut busting classic!
Love the old man's muffled shout and his reaction when Linda opens the $100,000 check at 2:55.
My dad would rewind this every time just for that lol
That little scene with the glass on the car fender always cracks me up.
I know. That's the typical drunk moment of you ever been that drunk. You to to walk away and you forgot your drunk or thibknits going to spill and you slap back at it. Haha.
Me too.
(Shaking my head) he used a Rolls Royce as coaster lol
@@nadirrabah6756 That was a Packard, but there was also a Rolls in the film
Does anyone else hate it when Arthur’s sober?
Anyone one scene from this film is better than most modern-day comedies put together.
TayInTheWay I totally agree this is comedy I can watch this film over and over same as arther on the rocks they don't make comedy like this anymore
Perfectly cast and executed
It's an extraordinary film, that's for sure.
I 100 percent agree
De los mejores.
"RIP" the lost cast of this movie. A classic.
well Liza is still alive
"OH pardon me!! OH you're a hedge" 😂😂
When he's trying to put the plastic thing back together lmao!
The first one is my favourite rom/com ever I don't think the sequel is as good but they are such WARM films you can't help but love them!!
I saw this in the theater when it came out.just a babe!thanks.peace.
"Pardon me. Oh your a hedge!" XD LOL!!!
Dudley Moore was amazing any so cute. I miss him. Rip dudley Moore. We miss you and your talent.
They cut out Perry's wife scene when he bangs on the wrong door and she comes out screaming
"WHAT DO U WANT?"
"SHIT"
"MY HUSBAND HAS A GUN!!!!"
"I'M SURE HE HAS MADAME, FOR ALL I KNOW HE SHOT IT WHILE YOU WERE SCREAMING AT ME"
Freaking classic!
Jo Jo Dancer or when he walks out and puts the towel over the stroller. "You shouldn't be hearing this.."
that bit was hilarious too

When Dudley enters the apartment and knocks that letter holder off the counter, he doesn't stop there. Instead, he physically continues to fall forward in a way that only Dudley could. Gets to me every time.
Such a great film. One of the best
I just love this movie!!!!
OMG, I miss this man so, so much! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
between trying to put the plastic holder together and the father reaction to the $! the best!
Dudley was so funny and talented. He's one of my favorite actors of all time.
This is still one of my favorite comedies!! They just don’t make them like this anymore!
"Closet."
Pat Gogan XD
I'm absolutely gonna miss him haha
I had to show this movie to my wife just so she would understand half of the things me and my family say.
“This is a goner”
“Sometimes I just think funny things”
“I bet you’ve never ran out of ice your whole life”
“I’m talking SMALL”
“Bathing is a lonely business - yes, except for fish”
God if you haven’t seen this movie you must think my family is insane. We quote it so much. Within 5 minutes of watching my wife said “I understand your family a lot more now”
...closet.
I'm dead. LOL
Dudley Moore was a comedic genius.
3:17: "Closet." Lol
This movie is comedic genius, as was the second. 🤩🤩
lol she opens the check...$100,000 dollars.
her dad:hm!?
Linda:I can't take this.
him: :`O!!!!!!!!???????
I also love the part where...
Linda: Dad he`s a billionaire.
her dad: You have my permission to marry him. XD
(without delay.) LOL
Barney Martin was an awesome actor. Both in Arthur and as Seinfeld's dad. :)
@@firebugjohnnypyro I'll never forget the day he pulled right out in front of me with his car and me on a motorcycle. I did get stopped in time facing his drivers door and both looking directly at each other.
0:24 " Pardon me.... Ahhh, you hedge" 😂😂😂
dont you hate perrys wife?!
Get in there Perry!
"MY HUSBAND HAS A GUN..."
I'm sure he has madam...for all I know he shot while you scream...
@@stephengreico2810 Amazing reply. I love that line!
Um, Liza...please take the check. Poor dad.Lo!
Dudley Moore was a comedic genius. Is it possible to post more clips? Thanks!
“Do you hate Perry’s wife?”🤣🤣🤣
Since I saw that movie in 1981 we did a limo parties while calling them Arthur parties😂
Men who are that miserable tend to drink a lot. Hobson and Arthur's grandmother are the only members in his immediate family who have ever shown him any real love or compassion. Until Linda enters the picture.
There's no way this whole bit with the plastic thing was in the script.
...do you think he wants some cheese?!
Perry, you’re a dead man. *cheers* LOL
Closet
take the check his got so much not a dent
The remake blew chunks. Leave the classics alone!!
The look on her face!
0:52 😂
Ain't that Jerry's dad from Seinfeld
Morty Seinfeld
He was great in Foul Play too!! That scene in his apartment stripping to Bee Gees Staying Alive lol
We luv you and R.I.P.
Walks into the closet lol
How does the glass stay on the fender??
Will money bring you happiness
Awewee, ya hedge!
Lmao!
don't you hate Perry's wife?
Liza Minelli's eyes.
00:51 Liza trying hard not to laugh.
Arthur he does who he pleases...
Love this film.... Dudley Moore is the greatest pretending to be drunk actor in the entire universe. 😌💋
😭😭😭😭💔💖💕❤💘
Where is the scene with Perry???
ua-cam.com/video/EzzRvrjIQu8/v-deo.html
His movie “10” was a laugh riot too! He got down that hill very quick! Maybe even faster than Columbo! Some will get this.
And no one calls someone at 6 in the morning unless their dying ..
The more she refuses him….The more he wants her, lessened learned Ladies
Liza was magnificent.
Classic
Linda, Perry, and Jerrys pop was NYPD Det, ba k in the way back days 😊
This movie could NEVER be made today. The PC police would go into labor (according their "science", men too). Comedy gold, and I miss it.
This is a goner...
DUDLEY MOORE WAS THE BEST!
750 million then is 2.5 billion now.

BAAAAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAAA.
Cine stie
After meeting disagreeable people, my brother and I will look at each other and say, "Don't you hate Perry's wife!" Yeah mostly!
Wasn't the remake one big mistake
Mostly. I could give a lecture on why. But… I was surprised by how good Russell Brand was despite everyone else’s complete misunderstanding of what “Arthur” actually is… a modernized screwball comedy that you would have seen in the late 1930s. Russell Brand earned a better movie with his take on the character, but the movie itself failed him in so many ways.
*this is a goner*
Don't you hate Perry's wife?!?!
Can I come in? Do you hate Perry's wife? 😂😂😂😂
Not a gay guy, but I dig Liza.... Lol.
She’s isn’t a man 😂😂😂
@@maxfrecklington9946 She's it a man? Really?
