A true classic. These days it's maligned because it shows him drinking and driving..but if you can put those few unfortunate scenes aside, one of the best comedies of the decade.. sophisticated fun. Makes fun of the rich and as great as Dudley is, John Gielgud is even better in an Oscar winning performance. It was written and directed by a guy named Steve Gordon who died shortly after the films release. I think he was in his early 40s. What a shame..had a great career ahead of him
@@jeffniznick9280. Um.... to be fair.... both of them had plenty of practice in real life, by their own admission. Why do you think they were both so good at playing the part?
Totally disagree. He did a fine job. It was like a cover of a Van Halen song, no one is Eddie, but that does not mean that covering a song, well, is not good.
No one can ever replace Dudley Moore as Arthur. The remake. Of Arthur was Ok. But. Dudley. Moore Arthur was the best. No one can ever do it like Dudley rip Dudley we miss you. The beat Arthur Dudley Moore
I love Russell Brand. He's a national treasure and brilliant personality unscripted. But Dudley owns the pants off this role in Arthur. It's why he's so perfect in it. The only way someone could live up to it is by doing an obvious impression. But he's got an inimitable charm, so it can't be eclipsed.
^^ This ^^ is one of the most underrated jokes in the entire movie. There was a girl I dated a thousand years ago and we would quote it to each other at random times for no other reason except to make ourselves laugh.
It's not hard to see why Arthur is a drunk. Despite having all that money, he's still miserable. Especially around people he can't stand like Susan and her father. The only time we ever see him sober is when he's around people he actually cares for. Hobson, his grandmother and Linda.
Dudley Moore was so great in this that people naturally forget that he was in character and that he was actually not this way in real life. That's hpw good he was in this. Sean Penn in Fast Times at Ridgemont was similar as Spicoli but I like Arthur more.
Arthurs father I want this marriage. Burt Johnson wants it. Arthur Burt Johnson. He is a criminal. Arthurs father We are all criminals, Arthur. And, as you probably know by now, we usually get what we want. American society in a nutshell.
The funniest scene in this movie is when he pulls up to the house to meet Susan and he’s sipping on wine and he’s like “wtf am I doing here” snaps out of it and drives to the house laughing.
Only Dudley Moore could make an alcoholic playboy so lovable. May he R.I.P 💔
"85 cents in a cab from one end to the other. I'm talking SMALLLLLL"
Moore was brilliant in this❤
This movie always makes me laugh and cry.He was so very talented as a dramatic, comedic actor, and fine musician. I really miss him.
Us too
This touches home completely. I feel about people the way he feels about " the rich".
I saw him play drums when I was a kid and he was phenomenal. Like top level
Whenever I feel down I watch this movie 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I loved Dudley Moore's laugh
That cackle was infectious 😅
NO ONE COULD HAVE PULLED OFF THIS BUT DUDLEY A CLASSIC !.
One of my fave movies of all time!!!!!
I really miss Dudley Moore. What a huge talent he was. This movie has so many great lines.
I love that after the 3rd joke and his uncle’s annoyed comment that he gets that it’s a small country, Arthur goes for another joke.

Didn't his chauffeur do all the driving except when he was driving the race car but sober?
I think there’s one or two scenes of him driving, one of him swigging from a bottle of booze while he’s on the highway.
@@EF-fc4du no. There's a scene where's he's driving a white car. I think a rolls Royce. And is literally drinking something out of a brown bag
Story-telling is awfully boring if characters are perfect.
After all the years I still watch snippets of the movie just to laugh again. My favorite movie of all time.
You’re my kind of people pink!
Amazing Movie ! Dudley was an extraordinary artist ... I miss him
Absolute classic scene! Fantastic.
Arthur is in my rotation of films that I must watch at least once a year.
Always funny no matter how many times I watch Arthur...How I miss Dudley Moore!
“They recently had the whole country carpeted, this is not a big place!” Favorite line
Best movie.
Can quote it daily in casual conversation.
This is my all time favorite movie and his laugh is absolutely priceless
Much agreed sweety
“They recently had the whole country carpeted” bahaha
This is NOT a big place
whilst the USA is having entire countries carpet bombed!
@@pluckyduck11y ha ha ha ha you are hilarious, you must’ve wrote the Russell brand version of Arthur
played the best drunk ever!

I've done worse 😁😢😆🤣🤣
Foster Brooks did it just as good!

Russel Brand's version of Arthur was an insult to the classic performance of Dudley
Agreed
@Jay Bee yeah bro and its completely trash

thevremake was crap russell was just himself
Brand was good but not Arthur. He never seemed like a drunk. Just a man child.
the dialogue is so good
Looking for the scene where the butler opens door to his moms and says walk this way and Dudley mimics the walk of butler.
“You’re a hookah!? Jesus I forgot, I just thought I was doing great with you”

Sorry I didn't see this. I'll remove my comment which mirrored this one.🤣🤣🤣👍
"...this is not a big place."
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Anyone notice how Ricky Gervais acts exactly like Dudley Moore. Even laughs like him too.
Watched this movie a lot with my parents. One of my favorites
One of the most underrated actors of all time..
Again with rhe underrated garbage.

The best
Being a Rhode Islander I find this hilarious!
I love this it’s one of the funniest parts of the whole movie.
There's only one question:
"Where's the rest of this moose?"
Why don’t you FORGET the MOOSE, for a moment....
You must have hated this moose.
That is one of the best laughs ever...
Can’t believe we lost Dudley Moore 18 years ago today, March 27th. Such a great actor.

I love how he says something...looks at his uncle...turns back to the aunt several times.
She looks great! 😂
Loved this movie
Comedy gold.
Arthur....pure idol.....pure myth...
Damn! Well said👍 I agree 100%
The 40 Year Old Drunk 🥴

never seen anyone play a drunk any better.. he even slurred his ... i was convinced he was drunk
We understand it’s small Arthur.
Damn right, Rhode Island could beat the crap out of it in a war! LFG!!
you got my table but is anyone sitting at it, hahahaha. that always cracked me up, lol
"Princess Gloria" 😂😂😂
His laugh be having me crying that's why I watch this movie he be laughing 4 no reason going in lol
Thanks for this 😈
She looks Great
Whenever I watch this, all my neighbors can hear me laughing
I always thought the funniest part of this scene was Aunt Pearl trying to stay “downwind” of Arthur’s breath as he leaned in further and further.😂
*upwind. Simpleton.
underrated
Do you think he wants a piece of cheese?
"Princess Gloria"....LOL
He's like KeithMoon but not quite as destructive
The Mike O'meara Show brought me here.
Foster Brookes and Dudley Moore walk in to a bar...
grow up arthur, you'll make a fine adult
Yeah that’s easy for you to say, ya haven’t got 50 pair of short pants hanging in your closet
i like how she stands by her man there at the end
Steal something casual. Such an economy of words. I’ll alert the media..
Hobson is just as funny
We're taking small..
Princess Gloria
CAN WE FORGET ABOUT THE MOOSE??
It's so small the mice are stoop-shouldered. I plugged in my electric razor and the trolly stopped

AMEN TO THAT! Especially with that stinky Russel Brand in it.
Carol Burnett Charo

That's Orso from the Joe Abercrombie books.
Brilliant comedy - remake dreadful. Love seeing actress Anne De Salvo playing Gloria trying to hide her laughing!!!
That Dudley is so funny if he had a drunken partner they be like The Cheech and Chong of drinking.
“Very little”
Dudley Moore definitely sounds like Eric Ilde
Only Dudley Moore could make a trust fund brat funny.
And endearing. You can't help but love his character.
donde puedo ver la película completa?
Dudley moore
🤣🤣🤣
But shorty!
Viejos tiempos.
Is that Keith Moon!?
Yeah thts easy fr u to say u dnt hav fifty pairs of short pants hangin in ur closet....lol love ths movie thy shouldnt hav remade ths movie.
Its not a big place...Duddley was incredible

They do remakes in Hollywood because they are LAME and can't come up with original material!
