I love Slade's commitment to the people. You hear it all of their songs. In my oh my, I love that lyric, You've got troubles on your own, no need to face them all alone....We can all swing together, my oh my
Holy-snapping-duckspit YES!! Probably my favourite 80's song. Go Noddy!, and go those synthesised bagpipes/electric fiddle! We Aussies adored Slade... from the 70s through to this day, one of my very favourite bands.
This song was from Slade's brief comeback in the early 80's. Strange, this was also when they finally seemed to break into the American market. Their other American hit from this same period was "My oh My."
"Great Big Sea" from Newfoundland did a copy of this song. GBS were primarily were a Celtic type oriented band, sea shanty's and such. The guy on fiddle was Jim Lea. Dave Hill guitar and Don Powell drums.
Slade's popularity waned after their glam success of the 70s, then in 1980 Ozzy cancelled his appearance at the Reading Rock and a replacement was need. In step Slade to take Ozzy's place, and they went down a storm. This was the resurgence of their career which led to this singe and future albums.
I know Slade was regarded as a glam rock band, and they did wear some weird outfits at times. However, they never seemed like glam rock musically. They had a much harder edge and seemed to only be a few steps away from being a metal band. There's just no way I can put Slade in with the likes of Gary Glitter, The Glitter Band, or others from that time period. They just don't fit.
I was at Reading that year and they took the place apart. Every other band was a disappointment after Slade. Of course as i come from Wolverhampton, home of Slade, I was biased anyway
Such a wonderfully unique song even with fiddles, something for everyone. Can't help but break into a dance. Great memory. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Growing up in the '80s this was my introduction to Slade. IIRC the original video was filmed at Slane Castle in Ireland. The tune is based on an old shape note tune called HAPPY LAND. There's an Australian movie Nick Cave is associated with that begins with someone singing HAPPY LAND.
I totally agree with you that you just can't miss it if Noddy is singing! For what I know, Slade was a very successful group in the 70's in the U.K. and other parts of the world - but in the U.S. they just never caught on. (I never heard of them or any of their songs .. including their great Christmas song!) But then a hair metal period band Quiet Riot remade "Cum on feel the noize" and it was a huge hit. (they later did a remake of "Mama weer all crazee now" too) and those who took the time learned ALL about Slade! Now this song comes after that in the 80's has they tried to make a comeback off theirs name's resurgence! And in the U.S. THIS song and their song "My Oh My" were both hits for them! Not sure why it seemed to stop there .. but I wish it hadn't. For whatever My opinion is worth .. I have listened to their earlier story and the fantastic music they put out and think they should be in the R-N-R Hall of Fame for their music and how it influenced so many later bands!
I liked some of their ballads too like "Dapple Grey". "The lights out" was a great song too. I really liked them. I am in Canada. I found the R&R Hall of fame pretty US centered when I first went there @15 years ago. I noticed since than it has become a bit more inclusive....but not enough IMO.
It was early ‘80s…they were experiencing a resurgence in popularity due to the smash hit US band QUIET RIOT had with their cover of Slade’s “Cum On Feel The Noize”.
From 1984 & What a song. If you're feeling down, this will have you bouncing round the house. Great choice Miss Blondie. You wouldn't be a "Sunday Girl" with a "Heart Of Glass" would you or could your name be "Denis Denis". I must say this song does fill me with "Rapture" but I don't know how I can get "Call Me" in there without sounding like a flirt so I just said it. Be careful when you go to the beach though because I've heard "The Tide Is High" 🤣
The actual music video this is hilarious. They perform in front of a castle with all sorts of shenanigans going on around them. Here it is ua-cam.com/video/23FjDtbVIkY/v-deo.html
Have not thought of this song in ages. It was fire back in high school. But coming from a tiny town in Texas with very limited exposure to music other than American top 40 pop and country, we had no idea they had much deeper roots.
Still have my album of slade I bought it for ten cents at a yard sale when I was 11 lol 😝 loved it just by happenchance
I love Slade's commitment to the people. You hear it all of their songs. In my oh my, I love that lyric, You've got troubles on your own, no need to face them all alone....We can all swing together, my oh my
Whenever I want to hear this song I always go for the ultra extended mix, great drum intro that goes on and on.
As soon as I saw this I jumped RIGHT ON and gave my Thumbs Uppa'👍🏻The official video is great being shot at Eastnor Castle!🏰🤘🏻😎
Please do... My oh My ..after this one!!!
Noddy Holder....one of the greatest rock voices.
Slade...one of the most fun rockbands ever.
Great stuff Miss Blondie, thanks for this one Harri.
😁👍👊
Always thought this was a unique song, really fun

🐨🐨🐨
Slade......How Does It Feel........Crackin

Irish? Ok. I felt it was very Big Country. Not a million miles away. I was never a Slade fan, but this song, is an absolute blast. 👍
Ah, great song, and it is rocking with a fiddle. You dont see that every day.
Christopher Walken voice *it needs more cowbell*
jk..... perfect as is
Slade has a lot of great songs, more reactions about them in the future! 👍😉🙂
Yes PLEASE!👍🏻
That guy with the hat looks cool.
One of the best group ever
This is such a great song and group. Thanks, Miss Blondie and Harri.

@@jvsmith7888 I agree, I have this album and a few others and they really are a true rock band. Much more substance than most glam bands.
I was at Reading that year and they took the place apart. Every other band was a disappointment after Slade. Of course as i come from Wolverhampton, home of Slade, I was biased anyway
I did not know that! Thanks😀

Saw Slade with Brownsville Station live in an old movie theater. It was so loud, my ears rang for two weeks after the show. Great show though.
I always loved Slade. This is a little more commercial than Gudbuy T'Jane.

I do remember this came in 84 on MTV!
I’ve just discovered your Chanel, I love Slade so thanks for reintroducing this to the world 👏👏
Thanks Miss Blondie! This was fun. 🌺✌️
it's a great little jig! fun!

I also liked Radio, Wall Of Sound from their later stuff.
Slade’s first US hit, after over 10 years of hits in England.
Can you do “Black Metallic” by Catherine Wheel?
Back when we had bouncy knees... now they creak and crack 😢
They sure don't bend like they use to!
Have not thought of this song in ages. It was fire back in high school. But coming from a tiny town in Texas with very limited exposure to music other than American top 40 pop and country, we had no idea they had much deeper roots.
Did you know that Slade were the originals to do “Cum On Feel The Noise”??……about 7 years before Quiet Riot’s cover went huge in early 80’s
Love it, thank you
I have this album😊
And who says the fiddle is just fou country music?
If you love this sound try My OH My or How does it feel 👍
I think that it was Scottish, not Irish. Think of Big Country too.
Celtic rock
I hear J Geils Angel Is My Centerfold
1984
slade are so good even tropical primates appreciate their music
Slade is Scottish your in the U K , you should know the diff
