Facts, the only two valid critiques I've ever seen against Luka is his defense, which he has stepped up big time in these playoffs, and his fg% cause he tends to chuck at times. He's been proving those critiques obsolete in these playoffs though.

That's really the only area his game hasn't fully matured yet.

The true standouts in the league were the ones who were able to take it to the next level when the pressure was on. Luka has that it factor. Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Kobe had that it factor that makes them winners. Tatum might have that inside as well but he has yet to show it. What makes the Mavs scary isn't that their team is stacked and the best it is the fact that Luka and Kyrie can take over any single game with their will and skill.

Comes crunch time ... players fear most when Luka has the ball compare to Tatum.
Questioning Luka's mentality is prevalent around American pundits ... which is insane.
Winning championship in Europe with win or lose format rather than American styles series are mentally heavier. You cant have a mini break when you lost a game to comeback for the next game. Its win or go home in most other side of the planet.
And Europe fans can be very intimidating. Playoffs with war athmospheres. Thats what a teenage Luka had been through.

My take is this: Basketball is insanely important to Black American culture and they have thrived and wildly overachieved, dominating the league for half a century. The thing is Black Americans make up 14.4% of the US population (47.9 million people). There are 8.1 Billion people in the world, meaning Black Americans make up half of a percent of the global population. Now that basketball has gone global, they are competing with a much, much larger audience of people who also grew up playing and watching basketball and dreaming of being in the NBA. The fact that Black Americans make up a fraction of a percent of the global population but are still disproportionately represented in the highest league of basketball should be a source of pride, but law of numbers also suggest it's likely the best basketball players are likely to come from outside of the US. Europe has a population of 746.4 million (15.5x the number of Black Americans) and the resources to develop players early. I wish these commenters wouldn't get so hung up on having a Black American be the best player in the world and instead cherish the amazing success Black American players have regardless.

I distinctly remember when he would get criticized in the media about not having the same mindset as a Jordan or Kobe. People questioned his ability to lead a team to a championship as well!
Why are people crying about Luka like other great players didn’t go through the same things?

Gilbert arenas doesn't know anything about how to get a ring because he never got one. He never even made it out of the 2nd round. And he only got there once. His playoff average is 17.1 points, 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 31 games in the playoffs in his career.

Not to mention that Luka dealt with more injuries to teammates AND different starting lineups throughout this season than any other player or superstar in the league. He also had the 4th highest scoring game of all-time this season (73 points) and had the most 25pt, 35pt, 40pt and 45pt games of all players this season. Just other points that journalists just happen to gloss over or not acknowledge at all because it doesn't fit the agenda of their flavor of the month/season.

My guess is that if Dallas wins a ring, media will say that Kyrie carried the team, no Luka. Media will ALWAYS find a way to disrespect one player they don't like or don't want to portray as worthy.
