Tesla Cybertruck - You Wont Believe How This Coating Performs!

- The Tesla Cybertruck has starting making its way to excited customer hands over the past several weeks. These non-employee deliveries are the first time outside customers are getting a chance to learn about this next generation vehicle, including some of the nuances.
Despite a week filled with FUD on Cybertrucks rusting, I was able to show what is actually happening and even removed the oxidation for all to see just how easy it is. But after removing the rail dust (rust dust) from the Cybertrucks stainless body, your next thought might be on ceramic coatings, and you wouldn't be alone.
The thing I learned about Stainless Steel is that ceramic coatings do not properly adhere to the surface. That means it wont stick and it wont perform the way a ceramic coating is intended to, leaving you with far fewer options to maintain and protect the patina of the Cybertruck.
Well here is the good news, Everbrite, a small private owned company, has been producing coatings for metal finishes for many years. In fact they have been providing a coating that was specifically formulated for Stainless Steel and have a history of performance. When the Cybertruck was released, they were able to do some testing to confirm that the stainless on the Cybertruck was safe to use their coating.
This Cybertruck kit from Everbrite comes with a ton of product in the box. You will get everything you need to complete the coating, except for Denatured Alcohol, which cannot be shipped easily. Not to worry though, this can be found at your local hardware store without issue. Aside from that, Everbrite Cybertruck kit includes all the chemicals, applicators, microfibers, and even gloves needed to perform the job.
After getting a solvent safe receptacle to pour the sealer in and the denatured alcohol from you local hardware store, you are ready to get to work. This kit is easy to apply and takes about a couple hours from start to finish. After 4-5 days, the coating will be cured and can be handled more aggressively at that time.
There are many benefits of this coating from Everbrite, including the fact that you can apply a Vinyl wrap or PPF right on top of the coating, unlike traditional ceramic coatings. This coating will protect the Stainless Steel surface from oxidation, contaminants, scratches, fingerprints and so much more.
So if you want to keep the traditional look of the Cybertruck alive, but dont want to fight fingerprints and stains, you need to look into Everbrite and coat your Cybertruck today!

UPDATE: The kit now includes everything you need, which now includes 99% isopropyl alcohol (instead of using denatured) and 3 applicators instead of the 1.
Great to know, but I'm still iffy on this kit, because the finish can wear off unevenly and likely require yearly reapplication, which might require full strip and refinish to look right. Tesla themselves recommends the isopropyl for cleaning the steel though. So that alone is an easy touch up kit, along with Windex for any glass.
Or Car babies be damned, just let the CT get dirty AF. It wears it well.
JFYI, 20% restocking fee, plus return shipping costs, even if the box was never opened. Know before you purchase.
I purchased the kit because of your video - thanks for doing this and providing this great overview of the product.
To add to my previous post - received my truck a week ago and it was not detailed by Tesla. the answer I was given was that both detailers were out sick, but I'm hearing reports from other cybertruck owners that the detail teams were let go - not sure of that. Anyway I need to clean/polish it first before applying the Everbrite product. I plan on using Barkeepers friend and a dual action orbital polisher to get it good and cleaned and then neutralize with windex. Might let it set a day before applying this Everbrite coating.
This is my plan when I get mine! I like the stainless look minus the finger prints so this kit will be a great way to handle that. 😊
Great video Justin. Awesome editing and I love your choice of music for your time lapse! Excellent job explaining everything as well. Thank you much!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fingerprints would drive me nuts. This looks awesome! Thanks for the video
As always, you are super helpful video! From the rust drama that you clarified for us to helping folks like me w PPF DIY . Keep it up!
Glad to help
Try the Colinite 845 for a sealer and the 850 in place of BKF. Its been used on ocean going stainless parts for ages.
You can also sell it and regain your mental health.
Having said that... nice job... it looks great and gladly that coating will help the pain for Cybertruck owners.
Great job Justin! How’s the product holding up? I just had my kit delivered and thanks for the discount code too
@BeardedTeslaGuy Any updates as to how the sealant has held up over the last couple months? Apologies if I missed that video.
Any shops in SWFL providing Cybertruck detailing services?
Just curious did you try the coating the tonneau cover?
no, I wouldn't mess with the tonneau cover
Off topic, I drive 2023 Model 3, can someone recommend a ambient light kit thanks.
What did you use to strip it off? I couldn’t see the bottle you had in your hand.
Koch-Chemie KOCHCHEMIE Eulex - Adhesive Remover
Have you seen any discoloration or any side effects as a result of the sealer after extended exposure to UV?
No, the makeup of this formula is not subject to yellowing like other products. You can reach out to them for more details on that
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Thanks for the insight! Thought I’d ask someone with some hands on experience with this product. How good is it at repelling water as a sealant? I’ve noticed on my Cybertruck, the hard water spots after rain mean you gotta use BKF each time. This would be awesome if it shed the water or prevented those water spots
This product gives the stainless a yellowish hue
How many coats did you apply to this Cybertruck?
The code BTG code didn't work for me when I went to order the Everbrite Cybertruck kit.
It will work now!
Did he delete the cuber rust video?
Nope
"I think you missed a spot..."
J/K 😉
lol, I never miss! j/k
Do you sell this kit? How can I order it please?
In the description
@BeardedTeslaGuy thanks but explains what's in the kit but not where to order..sorry for misunderstanding
Get that drivers side rear passenger door aligned!!!
Does $300 for the ‘Cybertruck kit’ sound correct?
I guess if you can pay a $ 120,000 for this truck you can spend another $ 300 for this coating kit, sucker!!!!
Damn dude..he just asked a simple question AH@nicholasmuni7995
Every Cybertruck should come with a life time supply of white gloves for anyone who needs to touch it...!
There is going to be a great market for cyber truck detailing. However, given the price of the vehicle I will assume that people will pay it.
As a vehicle it still hasn't grown on me.. maybe in time.
Tesla should seal it from the factory
Tesla should be doing this before a delivery is picked up.
Yep from what I have seen they sand the panels at the factory when they make them - would be a simple process for them to dip them as well.
Tempting 🤔🤔
It’s one way to keep it looking fresh, but then again, I don’t know how your physical state would handle a “cleaner” car
Buying a vehicle isn’t an investment so it shouldn’t be called that.
If a reliable car takes you from point A to point B on a daily basis and if it’s a means to help someone achieve financial success, then Technically could be considered investment.
Technically such a vehicle is an asset, not an investment. A valuable asset in your example, but still an asset.
Panel gap and panel alignment not good ,Tesla needs to do better for a very expensive car.
Don’t buy one then…Can’t wait to get mine!
good thing its not any of the moving parts that matter in the safe operation of the vehicle.
The drivers side rear passenger door is WAY off. Yes, it’s a Tesla not a Audi or Porsche. The German automaker would never have let this vehicle leave the assembly line due to fit and finish issues.
Cyberbeast Trimotor has better panel gaps.
Tesla should be doing a clear coat sealer before delivery. This is ridiculous.
Clearcoat doesn't adhere well to bare metal, so you would need a primer, at which point you may as well just paint it. Which would require a paint shop and defeat much of the purpose of going with Stainless Steel. See many painted Deloreans?
Yeah I would not do that. Just spend the money and wrap it or PPF.
Unfortunate that you have to spend $100,000 plus on a truck and still need to treat the finish this way. These trucks look awful bare as is. What a rip off.
Affordability is a big issue for sure
F Off you gas lover!
lol, then go buy a Chevy or Ford.
@@mattl7967unlike a Tesla cyber truck , a Ford and chevy provide good value
@@Wi2Lowthe problem isn't the aesthetics although I agree that it looks rather.....like a Warthog in a PS1 Emulation of Halo Combat evolved, but that is besides the point the problem is the ridiculous cost and the fact that even with such an excessive price the truck fails to meet even the most basic of Vehicle standards..... Like for example not Changing Color after just seven days of being outside the factory, and not having it's paneling stain by just being in the same house as it's owner because the iron Rust Particles from his breathing Bond to this Alloy of steel.
Ammonia neutralizes acid? You lost all credibility with that remark.... The Ammonia might slightly etch the stainless surface to provide better adhesion, but it is a substance that actually damages the surface of the stainless. They should recommend a different technique.
Ammonia is a weak base. It should do okay to neutralize the weak acids in barkeepers friend.
Clarification: ammonia is solution is a weak base
The ammonia in the Windex is not nearly strong enough with one application to damage the surface and does indeed neutralize the acid in the BFK. This method has been tested several times on Cybertrucks and other stainless.
Windex absolutely neutralizes Oxalic acid, which is found in Bar Keepers friend...thanks for stopping by though!
@@BeardedTeslaGuyperhaps I was a bit harsh, but it’s doubtful that I’m wrong. What is the outgassing of the “neutralization?” Then more windex? They are trying to get it really clean. The continuous recommendation of windex on Stainless Steel and in this case especially the ammonia version is driving me a bit nuts.
Too bad they made a soyboy truck instead of a mans truck
Congrats for becoming enslaved by your own car. Especially as it needs a permanent (and therefore a more expensive) *specific* service. Can’t wait to see its resale value… Jeeeez
