You're a stud in my books. My wife has the same EXACT car (White 2020 X5 M50i with 70K miles) and we just found out that the front diff has the same issue. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty so they are covering it....but I'm with you...they should have absolutely covered this under MFR warranty whether you had purchased the extended warranty or not. This is a crazy operation to do yourself...congrats.
Yes we remember Tara😅 Your a good man for fixing her car, just so you know. Mad respect for the effort. 👍 What road blocks are you up against on the humvee other than available time?
My front differential went up last year I was going to Oregon and broke down in Wyoming had it tow to Kansas and with the help of neighbor and my brother we got my 08 h2 hummer back on the road
you should consider a pro differential shop to press in bearings and set up gear backlash for you...only thing worse than doing a job like that is doing it twice...lol. Dont ask me how I know!
Huh...looks just like the bottom end of a Ducati crankcase...makes me wonder if there's not enough preload on those Ball bearings? Yup, I said preload. Duc's will grenade the bottom end bearings if you don't have .0025"-.0035" compression(preload) on the bearings from the case itself. I'm wondering if BMW hasn't learned this lesson about Ball Bearings yet, and built it a bit loose thinking they don't want too much axial load on them, when, in fact, they need to be loaded to live??? ...pardon my 2cents rambling on bout that 🙃
When a man is determined, a man makes a way! Mad respect brotha nothing better than being self sufficient!
Thanks man!
You're the man for helping her out like this. Glad we got to see another video even if it wasn't the Humvees!
Thanks man!

BMW knows it’s a problem…
Right on, good to see you’re still around. I hope they get you the part soon and the reinstall goes smooth.

Great video. My 2022 X5 40D front diff started leaking at 28,000 miles!
