Friend the transfer is going oil filled oh no ? And if it's not filled with oil, when do I know I have to change the differential? I have BMW X6 4D, year 2013 box E71 and I have 156,000 KLM. Thank you
You can remove the actuator without having the fluid inside the transfer case leak, as the gears are on the dry side. That said, is good practice to replace the transfer case fluid every 60k miles or 100k km's. Use the appropriate fluid (TF0870) as otherwise you'll damage the clutch plates on the transfer case. For the rear and front differential you can use gear oil (75w90 gl5 I believe) but again, don't use that differential oil for the transfer case. On the E70 front differential has fill and drain plug, in the rear only fill plug, so you'll have to suck it out from the fill plug and then fill. Cheers mate.
Brother you don’t have to take the cross member down to get the actuator off, there’s enough room to undo the bolts , I took mine of in 10-15 mins over a pit. Maybe you doing in floor so might be easier I guess ??

Laying on my back on a concrete floor in winter...but not complaining, at least I have a garage! Jealous of your pit....😎
Is this the ATC45L transfer case?
