U tune drums?
Hit me In the feels way to hard....
What about resisting the urge to play while guitarists are tuning
😂😂😂 I hate that, but it’s fun
that’s why god made tuning pedals

Tell me about it
I don't think it could be that hard.

Davie is NOT impressed!
*a confused guitarist has entered the chat*
A very very extremely confused violinist has entered the chat
I'm sorry, i didn't hear you enter the chat
Me too bro
Don't forget the constant tapping anywhere and everywhere you go cause you have that one beat stuck in your head.
Edit: This can also be confused for people with ADHD. Myself included. If you're a drummer and have ADHD.... Yikes. 😬😂
Oh shit, I think I may secretly be a drummer. lmao
I do that and I'm a guitarist
I do that all the time. My friends get really annoyed at me
Yesss ;-;
I play heavy dirty soul by TØP all the time on my lap

TheDepressedPeiceOfSwissCheese it feels like my finger snapped in half when that happens
@jsakldjflasjd wow, did you really go out of your way for this?
Or your legs
@jsakldjflasjd just with all those emojis it looked like you were mocking me or smthn
Ahhhhhh it hurts
When you miss the cymbal after an awesome drum fill... THE PAAAAIIINNN!!!! THE EMBARRASSMENT!!!! THE FAIL!!!!!!
Bruh I hate it when that happens............ALOT!!!!!!!!
The immense remorse
So facts
I hate when you miss the symbol and hit the sticks together😕
HECK YA! ALL THE TIME!
Don’t forget when people say “dRuMmInG iS jUsT hItTiNg ThInGs.” or “dRuMmInG iS eAsY”.
Yeah nobody says that. If they do why do you take them seriously, because they have obviously never tried.
I have heard people say that to me and I just show them drum solos from a lot of my favorite drummers and tell them the story about a drummer not being able to lift his arms after a very long tour.
Well it really depends on what you play. Like, if I play the White Stripes, it’s just a kick.
There’s always some meathead who thinks he can just walk up and drum
Dasia Doge i had somebody who told me that play the drums themselfes bit within 2 secons the asked me how they needed to start
I believe that drums are actually the most physically painful instrument
You've clearly never used a triangle
Bass is really hard on your fingers
Them some thicccc strings
Hard to imagine playing a whole set but such an amazing instrument
Absolutely yes
@@Drummerboi_2002 any instrument can be easy or hard. It depends in how you play it or what style you play. But yeah bass is easier than drums to me cause I'm dumb.
Wait till he finds out about the maracas
You forgot that annoying drummer friend who shatters your whole kit to death every time he gets behind it.
Fr3akymet4l 😂yes!!
The only time my 21" ride wobbles like a thin crash is when one of these friends come over to jam lmao
he forgot fidget spinner drums.
:D
Fr3akymet4l And keeps bumping into / moving your fan while you're trying to play.

K, non-drummers, listen here: Never ever, ever, never ever ever never touch a set. You move that Tom 1mm and you're gonna plow a stick through the head.
Have any tips for drumming?
@@fiercecheese1003 1. Practice.
2. Don't be embarrassed when starting out and you sound terrible. If you have the means, you can get an electric set that is much quieter.
3. Practice. The more you know your kit, the better you'll play. It's like playing scales on other instruments: know where you're going to get the sound you want an you'll play more effortlessly and Sound better. Good sticks are also important.
4. Less is more: keeping your kit simple means it's easier to set up and break down.
@@kainpwnsu thanks!
I will poke your eyes out with my sticks if you move or touch my drum set at all.
I think we got that hint from the video, wise guy.

@Troy Staunton actually there is bass, although it's "simulated" (and that's why 7 nation army sucks live)
@@JooJPC Actually, no. It's an electric guitar dropped an octave (need to do that electronically).
What would "drummer" prepare to play if they were all at that level in the band?😬
@@sleepyancient6655 yeah, thank you, I meant the "bass sound", also that means he can't play it live unless he prerecords it, you get the point
"why do I have to use a stupid metronome?! I'M THE DRUMMER, I SET THE TEMPO!"
uh oh... :-)
Well, as a huge My chemical Romance Fan I can exactly tell you why you have to fucking use a metronome
Nice fedora lmao
the base guitar keeps the tempo in rock music and the drummer just defines the genre
Yes that's true in Jazz as well. The bass keeps the tempo.
I don't even play drums why am I here? At least I'm gaining insight to what the other side of the universe is like.
Ethan Thiele ME TOO BRUV iv got deadass no experience playing drums but i plan to tho
I can play if someone really needed me too but I’m not like actually trained
Ik u made this comment like 4 months ago but let me tell u, it’s a dark universe, full of hard multitasking that looks easy when it’s not, afraid of being annoying, and other stuff.
I’m here seeing what the troubles will be when I start
@Benji the Mango yep. struggles
What about when you’re playing to a song and you play louder than the song and you lose the tempo and you stop playing and just sit there for a minute trying to get the tempo back?
Is that just me?
Me too every now and then lol
*stops playing.........*adjusts volume*...................*plays for 10 seconds until it happens again*

@LlquidSauce It's a fine balance between hitting like a wet noodle or a brick of cement. Though must drummers hit like a brick.
@LlquidSauce I know. Did it sound offensive?
To be fair, drummers lead the tempo

You forgot when a non-drummer plays your drums and plays the toms thinking it’s the snare
Deformed Elephant and the typical asshole who thinks he/she can play better than you when she/he doesnt know what a hi-hat is, plays randomly and then says its a solo
When they have no clue and doesn’t cross arms when playing basic hihat snare
Cffx 45 not every person has to be like you, dumbass
@@doublevizzion how can one even play basic hi-hat snare without crossing their arms??
doublevision How do you not cross your arms? My drum teacher literally taught me that on our 4th day. I now need to know how you play without crossing your arms.
My main issue is having those days where i straight up cannot drum. Nothing I play sounds good, and then i just feel put off of playing for ages.
Shivam D same
Shivam D also when i have bad day to play i always drop my drum sticks all the time
Shivam D Mine too! I drop my sticks all the time, can't play double bass at all. Everything just fails.
So basically every day for Lars
Shivam D wtf are you my clone?

Me all the time and everyone looks at me. So I just make a yea ik face
When guitarist write you’re drum part
“ how do you do a C sharp on drums? “
XD Best comment yet
@S Albro Actually drum heads can be tuned to a natural harmonic note. Not a distinct note per se. But it's possible to tune them to specific harmonics. Go search Harmonic Hardpan some time for an extreme example of a tuned percussion instrument.

Drummer: hey
Guitarist: yeah?
Drummer: umm... yeah remember how you wrote my part?

Guitarist: yeah, you can.
Drummer: *YOU SEE STRINGS ON THIS KIT BOY!?!?!?!*
Wé dont do c Sharp
Stoopied ignorant guitarists
5:58 I think no matter what instrument you play that's always how you feel watching others play.
Couldn't agree more, i would even say it's worse for guitarists and singers as they are the most showcased.
Adrian Schoensted Agreed, I recently started playing guitar and watching others playing better just made me feel like shite lol, but I try not to give up.
Screw it. There's always gonna be someone better than you. There's exactly one person you're in direct competition with: You yourself, from 6 months ago. Are you better than that guy? Awesome!
If you're not, start practicing, you lazy fuck!

I'm in the middle of learning Dance of Eternity right now, I want to die
@spartin squid good luck I've been trying to learn Manipulation Of Tragedy by Seputura
personman 2 Oh god, god speed man lets both try and get it within the next century.
Spartin Squid well I can try but give 2 centuries just to be safe cause this part at 2:06 is impossible to me rn
personman 2 Once you do it you’ll feel like a legend though, even though it took you months and the actual drummer can do it casually, and just like that I’ve lost my motivation. Isn’t being a drummer fun!
How about hitting the edge of the drum when you are playing a song?
Just me okay
Happens to me too. You are not alone.
I also hit my stick with my other stick.
I tried to do percussion for one year and this happened all the time. I hurt myself a lot too. My teacher wasn't very good except with the veterans :/
Sometimes, your fingers become the sticks.
Then life gets very painful, very fast.
@PickerPlayer4 yes especially when your finger decides to brake like that one time I was smashing the drum kit and my drum stick flew out my hand and got replaced with my finger. It hurts like hell.
Ya missed a few;

Trying to learn a song by watching a cooper drummer video(no offence)

ROCK SOLID one of my cousins broke my guitar neck
Everytime my younger cousins come over they go downstairs without me knowing and all of a sudden I hear a bunch of loud off-beat banging and a loud unclosed hi hat. Then I come downstairs to tell them to get away from my kit, and I see them holding the sticks by the tip 😂 it's so frustrating

PeAnut_ ButTer especially when you get a new drum kit and can’t find the right height for the snare
at my school, theres a band and in a pep rally the drummer went so hard he broke his drumstick.

You’re probably playing with the grain facing the walls, play with the grain of the sticks facing the floor and they will break less often. Also I use los Cabos sticks and they are incredibly durable

if hell exists its sitting by a perfectly tuned dream kit all set up the way you like it while the guitar and bass are trying to get in tune - for eternity.

OMG THATS ME
Oh my gosh, I literally just started drumming this week. I picked up 2 oversized pencils turned over a garbage can and recycled a movie popcorn bucket (snare) and a Pringle can affixed with a mini gong thing ive had for 20 years doing nothing for the high hat. And I think my husband just felt so sorry for my pathetic kit while being so impressed by getting two groovy grooves down like I did in a day, he found me a student kit for just $200!! I got to play my first real drums EVER! I'm disabled though and have a lot of pain issues so I have to learn where my point of no return is and stop just shy of it so I can practice long enough to build skill but not so long I am bedridden for two days or whatever. But this waa so great, I'd love to see more. That one where you had to call a buddy and be like, DUDE, THIS NEEDS AN OCTOPUS!! I don't need a degree, I need more limbs!! Haha. I know that wasn't what you said but that's the sentiment. And it was hilarious. As was the "who moved my kit?!" bit.. because even just moving my stool right now and I'm like, UGH ARE YOU KIDDING ME. And I had my beater cooked like that on purpose. It was that or the whole kit (or my kick drum and toms anyway) had to be turned - which was what I did before I thought of just moving the pedal to accommodate my foot. I broke my right foot and shattered my left ankle. I'll probably not ever get a good high hat rhythm going with my left foot but hey at least now ill consider physical therapy. Lol.
PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS.
One with a newbie trying to coordinate their feet on off beats and maintain snare and high hat action (Kick = 1, 3&! Snare on 2 & 4, H.H would he what? 8th notes? Excuse me 1/8 notes. ROTF. I know better than that. And maybe looking at drum sheet music the first time. There are lots of fun things. Trying to learn a new fill. I was delighted when I saw one dude post a video that broke his lick down to 25% speed. ALL of the teaching videos should do this. He did 25, 50, and 100% speeds to practice on but you can't see a really fast song and how the hands move from drum to drum. I have no idea how to go from one drum to another unless I'm physically hitting each drum further and further on the head towards the next drum. But at least I figured out A way to move. I couldn't move before which means Phil's EPIC fill would forever be lost to me. And who doesn't want to play that?? Lol
But great video. Thank you for the amusing distraction from 16th note lessons on HH, 8th notes on snare and kick and diddling my toms. HAHAHA

Starts tuning drums, gives up, starts practicing, leg cramps, starts practicing stick tricks in intense pain, drops stick, knocks drink over, calls maid to clean up the mess, maid moves the drumset and touches it *gasp*, comes back to practice, tries tuning again, maid moved the drum key to a undisclosed location, gets on iFunny instead, packs up for the gig, gets fired after the gig because of the lack of practicing to a metronome. Sells drums, starts working a 9-5, gets married, has kids, retires, dies. The end.
Logan Scarbrough I see what you did there 😂
I sincerely hope thats not your life right now.
If so RIP
Logan Scarbrough good one.
Logan Scarbrough is overdoes on heroin
Story of my life. Except for the gets married and dies part.
People don't understand how easy it is to notice when someone else even breathes on your drumset
The "It's so dark you cant see shiot with your sick shades" one got me. lmfao
Setting up and tearing down drums is a *PAIN IN THE ASS!*
EpicZEVEN Wrong instrument then. Never bothered me.
At least it's not Terry Bozzio's or Neil Peart's sets. . .
hahaha, can you imagine? xD
The more gigs I play, the small my kit gets. One of those Sonor Martini kits with the 16" bass is looking more and more appealing.
You're doing it wrong, then ;-D
I'm still a beginner, and the thing I always do (especially in fills) is accidentally hit my sticks together. The sound is so awful. It makes me cringe. 😬

We all do that from time to time, it happens! When learning, remember to slow down, and have control while playing. Eventually your stick hits will become less and less. It takes time, practice, and control. Hang in there! You'll get better :)
yep been there done that
One thing that don't agree with from the video is how playing to a "click" is bad... DEFINITELY practice to a click-track and GET YOUR TIMING RIGHT before *ANYTHING*
You'll be good! 🤜🤛
I’ve been playing for five years and I still do it every now and then
Kinda late but didnt find a comment on it, 1:39, the stick falls back in the bag... Epic
Was the first one a reference to “step brothers?”
Star_WarsConfirmed 876 nice
theres a classic rule in drumming that literally no one else seems to know, NEVER touch a drummers kit and especially do not try to tune it and yet the amount of people that just sit down and do just this is astronomical!!
The guitarist in my band got on our groupchat and tried to tell me that I needed to tune my rack and floor toms because they didn't sound good together and started trying use technical terms like "legato" and I just said, "I'll look at it tomorrow at practice." I get there and they are perfectly in tune and sound exactly how I want them. Guitarists THINK they know whats best for the drums and the drummer, but they REALLY don't.
not even other drummers can touch another drummers kit without first asking and the golden rule for being on a kit that isn't yours is DO NOT MOVE ANYTHING
Legato?? What, does he want to you scratch the toms? KGgggghh.
@ownageyeahful Forrealll that is literally the fucking worst when my friends ruin my setup by moving shit around, especially my bass pedals because they have velcro on the bottom and they're a bitch to move. Same with when my toms get fucked with -__-
I thought the golden rule of drumming is, when you have a band practice, you always have to play something stupid shit so the others can't talk more than a couple of sentences between songs
- WHO TOUCHED MY DRUM SET?!?!
- Like everyone, dude. Duh!
Literally everyone fights over it when you're not around
:D
0:25 who else thought of stepbrothers
I'm a bassist but the same is true, never compare yourself to legends, it's a fast track to self doubt and defeat. My two favorite bassists are Geddy Lee and Ryan Martinie, they are both Gods on bass.
I still press on, I will probably never be either one of them, but I can be the best me I can.
*the "I play by ear" drummer*
Wyatt Bender me too

As a person who has never played drums that was funny 😂
I do most of gigs as a freelancer, and play all kind of styles. But being a busy drummer is not always fun. An overview of last month: a few gigs with a band where everyone was looking at their scoresheet/ a stoned sound engineer who miked the floor tom instead of the snare/ a band asking me repeatedly to play free gigs in another city (‘but its for the music?’)/ a 1 hour gig with 7 hours between sound check and show/ a gig where a volunteer switched my expensive drumthrone with a cheaper one from another band (luckily it took only a week to switch them again)/ one gig with a wrong drumset (‘really, take the large kit, the acoustic is great’)/ a concert with the wrong cymbalcase (my mistake, always check your gear, certainly if you switch often from styles and bands)/ one time not payed (‘it’s for the band, is our motto’)… but time is on my side/ 2 gigs at a long walking distance from the parking lot/ a gig where the drumkit had to stay on stage, until the last band finished the concert/ a concert with bad equipment from the lead singer (‘I can’t hear myself on stage’)/ playing with a band with musicians who were not used to count in (‘just follow… no, it’s double time, or no, half-time’/ a very long jam with an enthusiastic jazzband playing as long as possible till the only audience remaining were volunteers waiting to go home / recording a song for an ambitious band, and after a month talking about that song ‘and how they will become famous’, they let you hear an almost identical obscure song with same lyrics from a band from the 70’s and you’re like ‘what a waiste of time’/ the discovery that a well payed concert was cancelled for a city trip booked later, by a replacebale musician/ … OK, that’s enough glam & glitter.
Step Brothers: I know you touched my drums because the left stick is chipped 😂😂😂
MY FLOOR TOM WAS 2 MM TO THE LEFT, WHO MUST I SLAY FOR TOUCHING MY PRIZED POSSESSION
rishard daniels yeah as it should be
The only thing I think of: what you doing step-bro?
Guitarists/Bassists who don't know the right nomenclature.
e.g.
Guitarist: Hey lets play that twice as fast!
Drummer: Are you serious!? That will be around 300bpm!?
G: No, I mean like this.
G plays his Guitar
D: Dude, that's not twice as fast, it's half as long.
(true story)
I hate that too. they can't just say half-time double-time. goddamn non-musicians...
Davion Coe fUk yOu!
Not all guitarists are like that though, some of us really do play twice as fast, like playing Paranoid in 1:20 minutes
half as long made me lol for real
I think what that guitarist meant is "double time".
Hahaha. That is so me......always dropping the sticks even with the rubber grippers on. I use a drum tuner. I'm am so grateful full having that.
Thanks for making my cry TODAY
Getting blamed for the bassist speeding up
The Bosh
luckily i found a bassist i just click with
As a guitarist who learned to play drums for songwriting purposes... I feel like if you're a guitarist that writes your drummers parts or at least guide structure ideas- you should at least learn to play drums yourself before taking it upon yourself to write for someone else.
It would do my nut in if someone wrote me shit guitar parts and then insisted I play them
I think that kind of goes for any instrument. Learn to play what you're writing for.
Yeah you see it alot - and then they wonder why the drummers 'aren't good enough'. Makes me chuckle
Deffo
While I don't disagree with your main point per say
I've found a lot of midi stuff and I mean ALOT, while you can hear maybe sounds fine because they are only playing 4 limbs and its not super fast etc - when you go to physically play it - a whole load of practical problems come up. For example people who don't play, in my experience - they overlook things like reach, hand cross over, and transfer time from one part of the kit to the other - being able to play to even some extent makes you much much more aware of it. And your expectations of other musicians are more realistic.
Ofc I'm not saying you personally have to be able to play every single bar you write, but I think its important for respect of other instrumentalists as well to get the basics down before you tell someone " you have to play it like this"
One of the most true quotes of all time from GH2:
Life as a musician is hard.
But life for drummers is near impossible.
The first one is so true last week last week i was about to play but i felt something was wrong and 5 seconds later i noticed that my drum key was on an other lug (thats how i keep drum keys so i wont lose them)
