I started to played GTA IV when i was like in my early teens. It’s story, the game and Niko Bellic still effects me to this day. It’s funny, i can’t bring myself to play or even get reminded of GTA IV. Not cuz it is a bad game, it’s freaking great. But because I’am afraid of bringing me back to the dark deep depressing story and city again.
“You killed my friends for one thousand dollars…” “How much do you charge to kill someone?” Niko’s price was $5k in most instances. When he is asked this it’s like even though we feel justified in his revenge towards Darko, he realizes that placing a price on human lives to be wiped out makes you morally bankrupt.
@@howardmctroy3303 they killed fucking kids dude…. Thats the thing noone is the good guy. Goran killed a friend of his friend and they did warcrimes in Bosnia. In that case he betrayed bad guys für other bad guys that makes him the same….
I love the somber mood, with the backdrop of New York City.. Liberty City… it’s a masterpiece and I NEED AND WANT A FULL REMASTER OF GRAPHICS, AND DRIVING ENGINE THATS IT. I can deal with anything else
So Niko was born in 1978. That makes him 30 years old at the time of events in GTA IV. He is 30 years old yet looks like he could easily be pushing 50+. Yes war will accelerate your aging process if nothing else.
I really do like how much detail and history they put into his backstory, even though it was the most fucked up, it made him as a character and the things he did more interesting.
I dont trust Rockstar after defective edition, but i think it just needs HD textures, graphics are fine and i dont want atmosphere changed Edit: imo IV's textures are HD anyway so the game is good as it is, no tweaks needed
The birthday reminder of Roman keeps the canon open for both possibilities. I have had some friends die, but Facebook still sent me haunting reminders of their birthday, even though they have passed. Many families keep their profile active in their memory.
I don't care what anyone says, GTA IV is the best Grand Theft Auto game ever made. Niko Bellic is the most complex protagonist Rockstar has ever created and I would love to see GTAIV get a remaster instead of GTAV. Not by Grove Street Games but by Rockstar themselves. Addendum- This is a very good breakdown of Niko Bellic's character. However, you made one small mistake here when you talked about Niko's father. In order to hear him talk about his father you have to choose to side with Dwayne over Playboy X. After taking out Playboy X you have to agree to hang out with Dwayne quite a bit before they each start talking about their lives as kids. Niko tells him he's not the only one to suffer under an alcoholic abusive father.
I love the realism in Niko Bellic caracter, im at the begining of the video and i already rember how Niko was GOAT.. what i like about his caracter, is that when you knew the war, real WAR, the violences constantly, you cant be scared of some ghetto story shit. Also, the darkness and realism of the "dirt" around Liberty City is so artistic, and real.. remind me of my old suburbs lol.. GTA V has the "south" miami feeling, but GTA 4 was really ahead of his time, and was really unique on his own
Just beat this game a few weeks ago and I can confirm it is the best one currently (personal opinion). But just the dark crime story with the bonds of friendship and family, you feel for Niko and Roman as they have been through a rough ride growing up and during the war, both are tired of being oppressed. In a world full of disgusting characters Niko begins to feel resentful for his actions as he menetions in dialogue and he wants to get out of the life of turncoats & backstabbers. Depending on your choices there still is no real definitive right or wrong ending but there lies a tragedy or a consequence in each one. Truly reminds me of a Shakespeare playwright
I really like this game for the simple fact that it touches on immigration and human traffic. I'm Mexican so a lot of why niko had to go thru is in some ways what a lot of relatives fleeing Mexico had to experience
I have to say, the story for GTA 4 is better than GTA 5's, and the fact that, at best, the ending is bittersweet, makes it feel more realistic. You feel for Niko at the end, even if Roman is still alive, and you genuinely hope that he finds a better life for himself. I still think he is the best character in the GTA franchise.
Niko is one of the protagonist that feels some sort of remorse when it comes to killing he reveals how messed up it is when he sleeps and how he is sad I hope we get to see niko in gta 6
Niko Bellic was by far the best protagonist in the series, and he showed us the reality on whats crime GTA IV deserves game of the century, it had given us important lessons, and the cruel truth to life
He's hands down the best character, people praise red dead but Niko is just so full of depth and his story is something I'd love to see tackled or at least adapted to tv or film
GTA 4 was the first GTA game that truly excited me, solely because of the physics alone. The gunplay/driving and sense of weight the world had with an awesome euphoria physics engine was just so impressive at the time of release. Niko was a very strong and torn protagonist and the atmosphere was very moody and dark. Although gta5 had better graphics and draw distance, the gunplay and physics felt inferior in gta5 and it took awhile for the disappointment to wear off and fully embrace gta5.
I like to think then Revenge Ending is canon, since Niko still has his family and friends, not to support them, but also to have them support him as well. In that ending, Niko has more hope of living a normal, happier life, becoming a caring uncle for his nephew/niece and keeping himself away from the risks of doing illegal jobs for other scumbags, hence why he “went quiet”.
I don't know what it is, but when i hear that his childhood dream was becoming an austronaut, and then remembering what he is now and what he did, this really kinda breaks my heart
GTA 4 is just different, i replayed it so many times just for the story, the moments and niko himself are all interesting. Honestly Niko is probably the most well thought, deep gta protagonist for me.
“War is an invention by the old and the bitter, to trick the young and the stupid into killing each other.” I always kill Darko, and get Revenge on Dimitri (both ultra satisfying). I also always take out Playboy X, I like his penthouse.
Damn. What a crazy story about the protagonist of GTA 4, considering that he isn’t your typical GTA protagonist. And well for me, I am still playing GTA 4, and I haven’t beaten the game just yet, and whether or not I beat the game, I’m all good with it either way. But I saw a movie not too long ago that came out this year over a month ago back in May, and even though both the movie and GTA 4 are different stories, I saw a similarity between the 2 main characters of the movie and of GTA 4. And the movie I saw was with an awesome and cool English actor who was born and raised in England, and that actor is best known for his life or death defining character movies, and his name is Jason Statham, and the movie I saw him in was called Wrath Of Man. And well, I was easily able to tell that both the movie and GTA 4 both had similar stories. In GTA 4, we can all figure out how and why Niko Bellic isn’t your typical GTA protagonist, and the movie of Wrath Of Man with Jason Statham is similar to GTA 4’s protagonist Niko Bellic, and well, either if you read the plot or see the movie of Wrath Of Man, you will see and will be able to tell why GTA 4 and Wrath Of Man have similarities, as they’re very similar in their own ways. And in short, I can tell you this. In Wrath Of Man, the main character played by Jason Statham is a father who’s son gets killed in the middle of a planned out heist which was planned out from the beginning and nobody knew how or why it was planned, but you look at Niko Bellic from GTA 4 and are able to tell differences and similarities between both of the protagonists and the main characters of both the movie and of the game. If you guys wanna check out the movie of Wrath Of Man, I highly recommend it, as I thought that it was a good and well done movie. Anyway, as I have said, you look at both of the protagonists and the 2 main characters of GTA 4 and of Wrath Of Man, you will see what I mean that they both have differences and similarities.
"European prison"... I cringe when I hear Americans saying shit like that. The differences between countries here are so big that you could've just said "he was in prison somewhere on planet Earth." XDDD
It’s also really useless in this situation because when Americans say European they are almost always referring to somewhere in Western Europe. If someone is talking about say Poland or the Ukraine they will almost always say Eastern Europe instead of just Europe. I think the reason for that is because Americans have wayyy more ties to Western European European countries than the former eastern bloc for obvious reasons.
@@dmitriglover4309 That's definitely the case. We usually refer to general regions in Europe if we don't know exactly which country but when we say Europe in general we are usually referring to Western Europe
I have a theory that Darko's neighbors killed by Goran are Bosniaks killed by Serbs during the Bosnian Wars. It's implied that Niko, Darko, Florian and others are Serbians fighting during the Yugoslav Wars and it happens that Darko's neighbors are Bosniaks and there are stories that both sides committed war crimes.
I finally got to play through gta 4 this year with my new desktop and currently going through the dlcs right now. I have to say I really love the abundance of information that this video has provided me.. its almost provoking me to play through the story again and make different choices in it! Love the vid man!

@@ndhickson3599 That pattern do be gone. Then Grand Theft Auto 5........
Yeah, that pattern do be gone so hard I'm pretty sure the pattern is as dead as the hopes of Red Dead Online becoming good.
@Arthur Morgan
Damn, and I just got the game too. Atleast I can enjoy the story. I've heard very good things about the 1st and 2nd game
I started to played GTA IV when i was like in my early teens. It’s story, the game and Niko Bellic still effects me to this day.
It’s funny, i can’t bring myself to play or even get reminded of GTA IV.
Not cuz it is a bad game, it’s freaking great. But because I’am afraid of bringing me back to the dark deep depressing story and city again.
why? Its just a game, has a dark story but play it still
As long Niko finds happiness in his life (even though it is off-screen), I'm happy for him.
Best Rockstar games character ever. Btw I'm from Serbia too 😔
@Arthur Morganarent you from wild west? ;)
Maybe I am not from Serbia but i am also slav and i happy that Main character on GTA was Slav.
How you judge Niko serbian?
@Loner_2k21 Serbia is in south east eruope not eastern europe
“You killed my friends for one thousand dollars…”
“How much do you charge to kill someone?”
Niko’s price was $5k in most instances. When he is asked this it’s like even though we feel justified in his revenge towards Darko, he realizes that placing a price on human lives to be wiped out makes you morally bankrupt.
Also the first mission that you actually kill someone in GTA IV, you only earn $500 as payment
@@LedZedd never even thought about that. Love GTA IV.
@@KuuchWizard Same man
Niko mostly killed pieces of shit. Darko betrayed his friends to the enemy.
@@howardmctroy3303 they killed fucking kids dude…. Thats the thing noone is the good guy. Goran killed a friend of his friend and they did warcrimes in Bosnia. In that case he betrayed bad guys für other bad guys that makes him the same….

If you think about it Niko never told roman about his mom cause if he did it might have drove him to a bad state of mind like he is in
My absolute favorite GTA… because it was easy to believe in Niko and what he was fighting for.
I love the somber mood, with the backdrop of New York City.. Liberty City… it’s a masterpiece and I NEED AND WANT A FULL REMASTER OF GRAPHICS, AND DRIVING ENGINE THATS IT. I can deal with anything else
Hope they make a remake of this fabulous game
That opening speech is why my Niko never takes off his army cap and solves everything with an AK.
Btw he's name is Niko Belić I know that because I'm from Monetegro its next to Serbia and 99% last names are end with ć

So Niko was born in 1978. That makes him 30 years old at the time of events in GTA IV. He is 30 years old yet looks like he could easily be pushing 50+. Yes war will accelerate your aging process if nothing else.
I really do like how much detail and history they put into his backstory, even though it was the most fucked up, it made him as a character and the things he did more interesting.
i Really want a remaster for gta 4, a proper remaster with better graphics instead if just a port to the new consoles
I dont trust Rockstar after defective edition, but i think it just needs HD textures, graphics are fine and i dont want atmosphere changed
Edit: imo IV's textures are HD anyway so the game is good as it is, no tweaks needed
@@thegamingvillager2392 they cancelled the gta iv and rdr1 remasters
The birthday reminder of Roman keeps the canon open for both possibilities. I have had some friends die, but Facebook still sent me haunting reminders of their birthday, even though they have passed. Many families keep their profile active in their memory.
And what's really fucked up is those friends died after GTA IV came out... Man... That hits hard...
This was the best depiction/narration of Niko's life from beginning to end. I don't have to search any further.
Hmm 👍
I love the realism in Niko Bellic caracter, im at the begining of the video and i already rember how Niko was GOAT..
what i like about his caracter, is that when you knew the war, real WAR, the violences constantly, you cant be scared of some ghetto story shit.
Also, the darkness and realism of the "dirt" around Liberty City is so artistic, and real.. remind me of my old suburbs lol..
GTA V has the "south" miami feeling, but GTA 4 was really ahead of his time, and was really unique on his own
I find these videos really entertaining and your commentary is really good. Keep up the work!

Man they did CJ dirty at 0:49
Looking too skinny cj
Great video!
GTA IV is such a master piece.
P.S the black BMW M3 at 11:09 was one of my favorite cars
I wish we could get another game with Niko.
@ThatBritishGuy ua-cam.com/video/s00Y8_Ur1dg/v-deo.html it wasnt a problem he didnt get a good agreement because of his union
GTA4 story is much better than GTA 5
Niko is really simple, handsome, serious towards his family and filled with good qualities. He had to come in this underworld....
hes ugly lol, Dinaric race people tend to look more ugly than other races like myself
Hard ass southern accent 😭anyways good vid
The war in Yugoslavia didn't last that long , you are talking nonsense,...
The war lasted from 1991 - 1995
Wrong. 1995 was end of war in Bosnia, what about Kosovo war 1998-1999 , and NATO bombing?
Niko is one of the protagonist that feels some sort of remorse when it comes to killing he reveals how messed up it is when he sleeps and how he is sad I hope we get to see niko in gta 6
Your slight southern twang on the end of ur words crack me up its like a lunch lady is telling me about gta 4 lmfao. Awesome video.

Niko Bellic was by far the best protagonist in the series, and he showed us the reality on whats crime
GTA IV deserves game of the century, it had given us important lessons, and the cruel truth to life
He's hands down the best character, people praise red dead but Niko is just so full of depth and his story is something I'd love to see tackled or at least adapted to tv or film
Excellent video brother. GTA IV has always had a special place in my heart. Best storyline in the GTA series, best characters, best gameplay memories.
this was an amazing video fr !!
In my playthroughs, Dimitri got his head blown off, every single time. It wasn’t until today I learned the alternative storyline. Great video man!
Niko is my favorite GTA main character by a mile. Hell, he’s honestly one of my favorite characters of any game tbh.
The first 40 seconds are the best quotes in history
Anyway, as I have said, you look at both of the protagonists and the 2 main characters of GTA 4 and of Wrath Of Man, you will see what I mean that they both have differences and similarities.
this video is so well put together
I'm impressed with the amount of effort put in this, good job man.
Good job man, you gave me a new look for a GTA iV hero 👍😢😢
Awesome video, you really understand what make Niko such an amazing protagonist.
"European prison"... I cringe when I hear Americans saying shit like that. The differences between countries here are so big that you could've just said "he was in prison somewhere on planet Earth." XDDD
Is it stated which specific country his prison was located in?
@@mr.gilbert2790 probably in Yugoslavia, maybe Bosnia
It’s also really useless in this situation because when Americans say European they are almost always referring to somewhere in Western Europe. If someone is talking about say Poland or the Ukraine they will almost always say Eastern Europe instead of just Europe. I think the reason for that is because Americans have wayyy more ties to Western European European countries than the former eastern bloc for obvious reasons.
@@dmitriglover4309
That's definitely the case. We usually refer to general regions in Europe if we don't know exactly which country but when we say Europe in general we are usually referring to Western Europe
Gta IV was such a big change in story line in the gta series. What a great game.
