It's definitely not easy getting older. I have no appetite therefore no energy so I'm constantly trying to find ways to help with poor nutrition. I also have thyroid issues and on medication for other things and now they are thinking it might be different issues ugg. So just keep plugging along. One of my first home health clients was a bariatric surgery patient. She was about 1 month post op, and she had a really hard time getting ambulatory after being non mobile for almost a year. It's good that Joe has stayed mobile, because if he hadn't I'm afraid he would have struggled so much more. Also, food addiction behavior is a lot like drug addiction behavior. They both get hella grouchy when they don't get their drug of choice. At least with food addiction they don't have the shakes, the upset stomach, the diarrhea, seizures in extreme cases, that the drug addicts experience. I feel for both though, being held mentally and physically hostage by addiction is horrible.

Starting my own weightloss journey (again) and I’m going into a calorie deficit. Originally I lost about 20 pounds in 2023, but I got off my medicine that managed my mental illness and went spiraling into a depressive state for MONTHS. I had no energy, I stayed in bed all day unless I was using the bathroom or eating. I gained the weight back, plus 10. So now I’m back on my medicine and feeling better than ever and I’m starting my second day of mindful eating, and calorie deficit.

Dr NOW has been a Bariatric surgeon for over 30 years. He is America’s number 1 Bariatric Surgeon . He totally understands why people overeat . Dr Now has NEVER mentioned Food Addiction in any of the Shows. It is very clear that he doesn’t believe that it exists . He does however believe that it’s due to some kind of trauma that people over eat and he knows all about emotional eating . So he refers them to therapy. He’s always referred his patients to therapy but they didn’t show that on My 600lb Life for the first few seasons. I met a lady who had Bariatric Surgery with Dr Now 25 years ago and he referred her to therapy then .

BIG shoutout to EMTs and nurses! Superfats really take their toll on medical resources. I have heard multiple stories from nurses who get permanent back issues having to move them around. Not to mention, bariatric ambulances have become the norm in a lot of areas, then you have large hospital beds with built-in scales, etc. That sh*t gets expensive! At least they can pay forward by getting the extra damn seat on an airplane when they need it. The only sectors of the economy they are supporting are fast/junk food and meal delivery services.

      @metalmamasue3680 25 днів тому

I hear that. Omg on July 31st I popped something in my upper/mid right chest where the ribs join onto the sternum. I'm 60 with arthritis for decades and whatever I did, it's nothing small. It hurts like a b*tch. I think I may have torn the cartilage that attaches the ribs to the sternum, at least a few of them. I think I tore those suckers right off the sternum. Something feels like it is moving when I cough. It helps to hold my hand over it before I cough.
But I know there's not a thing they can do for me so I'm just trying to deal with it and hope it heals asap, but it has been slow to heal and still hurts a lot. I've had a piece of cartilage seperate from between ribs before and I couldn't lay down for days, I slept sitting up. But that wasn't half as miserable as this.
It's one of the worst things I've ever dealt with and I've had 24 surgeries and numerous illnesses that landed me in the hospital. It's making me nuts to sit around.
Rib injuries are no joke. And it was the dumbest thing I did that caused it. I was just trying to hoist my butt onto a cement ledge that was higher than my butt to sit on. And I'm not even a big person. I felt/heard a loud pop/Crack in my chest and my first thought was, Omg I broke my chest. 😳😂 I thought my heart and lungs were just going to fall out. 🤣
I have to laugh but it hurts so bad. 😬 You can't splint it, wrap it or anything. Just takes time and try not to aggravate it. I'm not good at patience. 😅 I totally understand. Every breath, whenever I lean over, whenever I cough, lay down, sit up, move a certain way etc I feel it like a knife in there.
I will definitely not be trying that again. I will sit on the ground before I try to push myself up like that again.

Cracks me up every time you say "that's what she said" 😂😂😂. You're an awesome guy and seems like you'd be a great friend!
I've been watching your channel for quite a while now. Congrats on how far you've come! I was about 250lbs at one point in my life. Anxiety meds helped me lose about 100lbs over a year. I was holding on to weight as a "barrier" because of my anxiety. It's odd because I was not a person who ate huge portions. I've always eaten small portions. Even my mom commented saying she thought me keeping the weight on was psychological, because I "ate like a bird". The med I was on isn't used for weight loss or anything, so that was pretty interesting to me. I guess my mom was right!
At my lowest I was in the mid 120s, I gained some back up to 170s, and I really wanted to lose enough to get in the 130s or so. Well, 2 years ago I ended up with a parasite and I couldn't hardly eat anything for MONTHS, so I ended up losing about 40lbs. I'm currently around 130-135. I'm about 5'4", so this is a decent BMI for me. I'm glad I lost that weight, but that was DEFINITELY not the way I wanted to lose it! 😂😂 If you read this, I appreciate it! Keep up the great work!

My friend gained 55lbs and she got her surgery 6 months before me even though we started at the same time. She gained all her weight back within 2 years. I lost all my weight within the first 12 months. After 7 years I did gain back some weight but I was on steroids for about 6 months. Started my most recent weight loss journey beginning of October of last year. My heaviest was 315. I hit the 70 lbs lost last week. At this rate, I am on track for 100 lbs in a year. And watching this channel has helped so much.

His backside was still pretty dirty. If he can reach around the back to pull his pants up, he can reach around back and let that water clean in between

He refers to it as "a curse" as if he isn't responsible and can't change it. He calls his weight "it" as if the size of his body is separate from himself. Also, he saw a tv show about someone like himself who fell and DIED and he isn't doing anything about his weight. How are people so unwilling to put 2 and 2 together?

Opposite here. I question the sanity of anyone who likes whipped icing. It’s like oily styrofoam.

I love Joe and his success makes me so happy! I actually live 30 mins outside of Johnson City.. and at the beginning when they showed the downtown area with Market and Main St.. I do door dash and I drive down those roads very often. So his case has always been one of my favorites

Joe and mom, are huge!!His mom needs to join in too.
I've never seen such obesity here. Better healthcare, yes, but here it is normal that you walk to the shops or cycle, shorter distances, no mobile shooter ready for you, typical american! No you walking, doing everything yourself. Different eating pattern, probably also cheaper for fresh vegetables, good quality, and a lot of self-cooking. Greets from Amsterdam Sean!

Euro trash gon euro trash again.
Maybe your food is just worse. Nobody wants to eat it in massive amounts to get this big. XD
Has nothing to do with healthcare and everything to do with amounts people eat.
Tldr European food is awful and they need Americans to make it better. Same with you, Asians.
