      Sydnee Ramsey lol so true. I know some girls with poppin-looking, soft feeling curls and all they use it water. My hair refuses to curl if I don't put in a crapload of products!😭

      Sydnee Ramsey.........For some "less is best". My regime is super simple. Wash, deep condition, twist or braid weekly with shea butter, spray with water and pepermint oil mix daily and sleep with satin scarf and pillow case. I wear it out sometimes but it's grown so much til now it's a lot of work. I've gone from less than an inch of hair to past BSL in 3yrs. Water is amazing for hair but make sure you're drinking it as well.

Right now I'm always in a protective style but i don't have any chemicals in my hair. I take it down wash and condition it and go back into a protective style!

    I have been natural my entire life and things my hair canNOT go without are water, leave-ins, oils and deep conditioning. Right now, I am really trying to concentrate on diminishing dry scalp and dryness on the very ends of my hair. I don't get trims often within a year so I feel I need to UP the game on moisturizing my ends. I just wish more stylists knew how to properly trim naturally curly hair WHILE it's in its curly state! I end up going so long without a trim because I don't want my hair straightened. I basically shy away from trimming my own ends even after watching countless tutorials on how to do it yourself. Sigh, struggles I tell ya! Sorry for writing a book. I've had so much on my heart concerning my mane. Love&Light

      It is totally a game changer! I CAN'T even think about not deep conditioning - it's so nourishing for the hair! People just do not understand the outstanding benefits. It can be a bit time consuming but once you're used to it; it's smooth sailing. I am actually gearing up to purchase a Hot Head from thermalhaircare.com to take my deep conditioning to the next level! xoxo

    Yes girl it's the best moisture seal in for my hair. I put in my hair conditioner when I wash my hair. And boy do it do wonders for me. Then I use shea butter after I wash my hair and put in a protective style. It lasts for awhile. Then about 5th day I'll condition my scalp with sulfur 8. I know but it works great with me.

    Someone commented and requested that you do a vid on the LOC method. I believe you to have low porosity hair and so do I. I would love to see an updated vid on the LCO method which works so well for me! Sometimes I get confused on whether to apply a leave-in, creme, oil VS leave-in, gel, oil VS leave-in, creme, butter (that has oil included). I guess I will have to do some trial and error with some trios to see what results I receive. xoxo

    Hey, I just recently changed up my hair moisturizing routine because I was having dry spots in the back of my head and on the left side. Using Shea Moisture leave in conditioner, Africa's Best Castor Oil and JBCO after I spray my hair with water. It helps my hair a lot. When I feel it drying; I just re-wet it and feels great.

    • @chaeeee8466
      @chaeeee8466 7 років тому +2

      Kinky Koily Kayla girl same here. Especially if I wash my hair every day. It starts to be brittle after about 3 weeks of daily washing it. I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. Not just what you put in your hair. Depending on what you put in your hair, it can help but I believe your nationality has a lot to do with it.

    • @KinkyKoilyKayla
      @KinkyKoilyKayla 7 років тому +3

      chae eee I wash my hair once a week or every 2 weeks. I’ve found products that retain moisture for a long period of time. Before those products I was on the hunt and tried spritzing my hair every night and twisting it up and it would be dry in the morning and tangled. The only time I use water in my hair is to wash it or break down my puff when I wear one.

      Twana H I’ll tell everything from pre-poo to styling. Pre-poo mix- ogx anti-breakage & keratin conditioner, coconut oil & jbco. Shampoo- 22nd Century Natural woman shampoo bar (any one of them bc they’re awesome). Deep conditioner- SM manuka honey and mufura oil (most of the time) or I use Curls blueberry bliss dc, Moroccan oil hydrating dc or another one from SheaMoisture it’s a protein one with green packaging with bamboo. I use my protein one every 4-6 wks. For styling (I wear 2 strand twists 90% of the time and the other 10% is either a twist out or a puff) I only use Soultanicals Can’t Believe It’s Knot Butter and Kink sink intense moisture sealant. My hair is juicy and shiny for at least 7-9 days and if I want to stretch it I do scalp massages with jbco 2-3 times week

    Omg I have that debate with people all the time. Especially us black women we grew up with the misconception that water is bad for your hair. So we try to stay away from it. But grease and oils and shea butter will not moisturize your hair if it's dry it will only seal in that dryness

    I hear you on the deep conditioning for a longer period of time, but do you think that can make your hair weak? before I got my hair cut, the stylist said it was weak. I'm thinking maybe I over moisturize my hair, but if I do it less my hair will be dry. i don't get any of this haha

    • @tgardner3563
      @tgardner3563 7 років тому

      I feel you on the confusion. I too struggle with knowing exactly what to do and use on my hair and I've been natural my whole life. Have you included small amounts of protein in your routine at all? Whether it be in styling products or deep protein conditioning every few months or so?

    • @queenali91
      @queenali91 7 років тому

      T Gardner hey girl. I moved deep conditioning from every week to every two weeks, and For the last couple of months I've been using the mane choice green tea reconstructing conditioner for the protein. Maybe it's not strong enough? Lol I have fine hair so it definitely needs the protein.

    • @tgardner3563
      @tgardner3563 7 років тому +1

      Greetings Alisya! I really need to gon' head and try some things from The Mane Choice. I am just trying to keep from spending too much money and becoming a product junkie again. I keep hearing such good things about TMChoice! My hair is fine too and it seems to break easily at times (especially in my crown, smdh). I am trying to learn how to balance moisture and protein in such a way that would really amp up my hair growth. It seems that my hair stops growing right past my bra strap. I would love to see strong and healthy tailbone length! I think deep conditioning every two weeks is great - that's what I do cause once a week is a bit much for me. Have you checked out Power In Your Curl on YT? She's amazing as well - very informative with luscious locks! Oh and I hear that ORS Mayonnaise is good - also cholesterol treatments for getting good protein in!

    • @queenali91
      @queenali91 7 років тому +2

      The deep conditioner is the only product I've liked so far by The Mane Choice (even though I'm not sure if it really helped or not lol). I also used their 3in1 leave conditioner but I didn't really care for it...
      I love Power in Your Curl too! she's so sweet.

    @idiosyncraticgirl1 7 років тому

    Your hair and nails are the last parts of your body to get nutrients. It all starts with food. Sometimes when you have any medical condition, the first thing you notice is hair loss. The literal definition of moisture is water or containing water. Oils do not moisturize. They seal in the moisture. Very good video!

    Hello Shawnta and thank you for your videos! Are you not sending out diy hair growth oil to interested viewers anymore? In a previous vid; you gave instructions to email you. You would then send out the oil and then send invoices for $10. While watching this, I discovered information about the oil in the description bar saying that it's $13 and sold out currently. I emailed you weeks ago concerning the oil. Are you not doing it this way anymore or was I mistaken on how to obtain the oil? Thanks for your time! xoxo

    Water does not moisturize your hair? Don’t believe me? Just put water on your hair - nothing else. It’s going to dry out. Unless you’re activating sebum. However water does hydrate your hair. Moisturizers keep your hair both moisturized with that extra little bit of water and other ingredients while locking in the hydration from just the water. If you want your hair to be moisturized - you want to first hydrate it with water then moisturize with a cream. If you want to train your hair brush and stretch. That’s it. Brush and stretch.

      Gabriel Runnells Thank you 😊 I couldn’t say it better myself🥰
      Certainly and undoubtedly this is what the person was trying to explain to her vainly; unfortunately most of natural UA-cam gurus right here don’t get it; just read the comment section 🤷🏾‍♀️😓😩

    Water moisturizes the hair the way God intended. And the other products are just add- ONS to water. Water will ALWAYS be queen of moisture.

    About The Water. I Agree & Disagree With You. Although You Did Say What Works For YOU At The Beginning, As You Started Explaining The Whole Water Concept, You Make It Seem Like That Applies To Everyone. The Curly Hair Community Is VERY Diverse & I Feel Like There Is Almost Nothing That Applies To Everyone. I’ve Recently Big Chopped & I Watch These Videos On How Long People’s Hair Is A Year Later & Mine Has Grown That Much Within 2 Months. I Do Spray My Hair Everyday With Water & Conditioner Mixed, But For My Step Mom Who Is A Natural Hair Guru, She Tells Me Water Is Too Drying. Although You Should Look For Products That Start With Water, Water By Itself May Not Always Be For Some Peoples’ Hair Because It Can Be Very Drying Depending On How Your Hair Is. For My Hair, It Likes Water. But For Others’ , Not So Much.

    They need to get a dictionary for dummies. Definition for moisture is water. Obviously its working for you or you wouldnt have been able to retain the lenght you have now. FYI Definition (copied n pasted): water or other liquid diffused in a small quantity as vapor, within a solid, or condensed on a surface.
