I'm only 12 and ive been doing your tutorials for a long time! My mom said I shouldn't do my hair because I don't do it well, but when I watched your videos it lroved my mom wrong, my hair always feels so good because of your videos, you are an inspiration, thank you so much!🌹
why do some of us have to do all this for our hair to grow but some girls be walking around here with hair to their butt and dont do anything to it!!! makes me so angry lol
Sydnee Ramsey lol so true. I know some girls with poppin-looking, soft feeling curls and all they use it water. My hair refuses to curl if I don't put in a crapload of products!😭
Sydnee Ramsey.........For some "less is best". My regime is super simple. Wash, deep condition, twist or braid weekly with shea butter, spray with water and pepermint oil mix daily and sleep with satin scarf and pillow case. I wear it out sometimes but it's grown so much til now it's a lot of work. I've gone from less than an inch of hair to past BSL in 3yrs. Water is amazing for hair but make sure you're drinking it as well.
Shawntas Way hey, i was wondering would you consider also selling your diy shampoo?? I would really love to do the combo. I'm nervous about being natural because i dont know where to start. Right now I'm always in a protective style but i don't have any chemicals in my hair. I take it down wash and condition it and go back into a protective style!
You don't know what your talking about but your dealing with healthy tailbone length hair......😑okay 😂your advice and tips help a lot so that person doesn't know what they are talking about
dee c for some hairs to much water on your hair can give you more dandruff effectivly,if I dknt wash my hair say in a month I woukd have to moistuiee it with water 3 a week. Some peeps hairs are delucate like mine myhair can get pulled reallh easily.
My hair don’t like too much water either apart from shampooing and moisturising. I don’t wet my hair, so it’s not a stupid comment saying water is not a good moisturiser...it depends on your type of hair
Girl Great video! Girl my hair is growing like crazy just by spraying water in my hair on a daily basis and keeping it moisture. YOU GO GIRL 😃😃Water is our friend. I love all your videos girl .
I have been natural my entire life and things my hair canNOT go without are water, leave-ins, oils and deep conditioning. Right now, I am really trying to concentrate on diminishing dry scalp and dryness on the very ends of my hair. I don't get trims often within a year so I feel I need to UP the game on moisturizing my ends. I just wish more stylists knew how to properly trim naturally curly hair WHILE it's in its curly state! I end up going so long without a trim because I don't want my hair straightened. I basically shy away from trimming my own ends even after watching countless tutorials on how to do it yourself. Sigh, struggles I tell ya! Sorry for writing a book. I've had so much on my heart concerning my mane. Love&Light
It is totally a game changer! I CAN'T even think about not deep conditioning - it's so nourishing for the hair! People just do not understand the outstanding benefits. It can be a bit time consuming but once you're used to it; it's smooth sailing. I am actually gearing up to purchase a Hot Head from thermalhaircare.com to take my deep conditioning to the next level! xoxo
Please don't ever get of UA-cam! ! I been searching through for a long time not finding anything helpful and stumbled on your page and the rest is history. Never found a more helpful page for myself and my daughter.
Yes girl it's the best moisture seal in for my hair. I put in my hair conditioner when I wash my hair. And boy do it do wonders for me. Then I use shea butter after I wash my hair and put in a protective style. It lasts for awhile. Then about 5th day I'll condition my scalp with sulfur 8. I know but it works great with me.
I ✂ my hair 3 1/2 yrs ago and it was about 2 inches in length. Now my hair is at a little pass my beginning shoulder length. I think that is a big plus for me.
My daughter and I love you and Curly Proverbs y'all know what y'all talking about frfr I follow both y'all and I use y'all tips faithfully I went from 24in to 30in following you 2 ladies.
People are so literal. They hear the first sentence then tune you out. You never said use water then quit. It's a layering process. Have they Never watched your videos?
Someone commented and requested that you do a vid on the LOC method. I believe you to have low porosity hair and so do I. I would love to see an updated vid on the LCO method which works so well for me! Sometimes I get confused on whether to apply a leave-in, creme, oil VS leave-in, gel, oil VS leave-in, creme, butter (that has oil included). I guess I will have to do some trial and error with some trios to see what results I receive. xoxo
Hey, I just recently changed up my hair moisturizing routine because I was having dry spots in the back of my head and on the left side. Using Shea Moisture leave in conditioner, Africa's Best Castor Oil and JBCO after I spray my hair with water. It helps my hair a lot. When I feel it drying; I just re-wet it and feels great.
The person that posted that untruthful statement only did that because they have no self esteem! That made them feel like they back at the world! Your positive and doing great things!
I have been using these key steps I learned from your previous video for about a month and I've seen growth already. Thank you for your videos 😊 @shawntasway
Kinky Koily Kayla girl same here. Especially if I wash my hair every day. It starts to be brittle after about 3 weeks of daily washing it. I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. Not just what you put in your hair. Depending on what you put in your hair, it can help but I believe your nationality has a lot to do with it.
chae eee I wash my hair once a week or every 2 weeks. I’ve found products that retain moisture for a long period of time. Before those products I was on the hunt and tried spritzing my hair every night and twisting it up and it would be dry in the morning and tangled. The only time I use water in my hair is to wash it or break down my puff when I wear one.
Twana H I’ll tell everything from pre-poo to styling. Pre-poo mix- ogx anti-breakage & keratin conditioner, coconut oil & jbco. Shampoo- 22nd Century Natural woman shampoo bar (any one of them bc they’re awesome). Deep conditioner- SM manuka honey and mufura oil (most of the time) or I use Curls blueberry bliss dc, Moroccan oil hydrating dc or another one from SheaMoisture it’s a protein one with green packaging with bamboo. I use my protein one every 4-6 wks. For styling (I wear 2 strand twists 90% of the time and the other 10% is either a twist out or a puff) I only use Soultanicals Can’t Believe It’s Knot Butter and Kink sink intense moisture sealant. My hair is juicy and shiny for at least 7-9 days and if I want to stretch it I do scalp massages with jbco 2-3 times week
Thank you for all of the great information! What would you recommend for the winter months for us girls with a twa. It gets really cold and annoying walking out with a wet head .
I'm mixed all i do to keep my hair moisturized is get it wet and hold it untop of your hair with a pony tail or sum then no frizz it makes your hair kinda longer too
I really hope you see this I need help lol what did you do when you experienced post partum shedding ? I don't think you were natural yet but if you were lol help please !
Hey Rochelle brought me here I’m glad because I have your hair and I’m looking for new products...I think I’ve been using the same products for so long and I feel like my hair is immune to the ingredients.
Omg I have that debate with people all the time. Especially us black women we grew up with the misconception that water is bad for your hair. So we try to stay away from it. But grease and oils and shea butter will not moisturize your hair if it's dry it will only seal in that dryness
I hear you on the deep conditioning for a longer period of time, but do you think that can make your hair weak? before I got my hair cut, the stylist said it was weak. I'm thinking maybe I over moisturize my hair, but if I do it less my hair will be dry. i don't get any of this haha
I feel you on the confusion. I too struggle with knowing exactly what to do and use on my hair and I've been natural my whole life. Have you included small amounts of protein in your routine at all? Whether it be in styling products or deep protein conditioning every few months or so?
T Gardner hey girl. I moved deep conditioning from every week to every two weeks, and For the last couple of months I've been using the mane choice green tea reconstructing conditioner for the protein. Maybe it's not strong enough? Lol I have fine hair so it definitely needs the protein.
Greetings Alisya! I really need to gon' head and try some things from The Mane Choice. I am just trying to keep from spending too much money and becoming a product junkie again. I keep hearing such good things about TMChoice! My hair is fine too and it seems to break easily at times (especially in my crown, smdh). I am trying to learn how to balance moisture and protein in such a way that would really amp up my hair growth. It seems that my hair stops growing right past my bra strap. I would love to see strong and healthy tailbone length! I think deep conditioning every two weeks is great - that's what I do cause once a week is a bit much for me. Have you checked out Power In Your Curl on YT? She's amazing as well - very informative with luscious locks! Oh and I hear that ORS Mayonnaise is good - also cholesterol treatments for getting good protein in!
The deep conditioner is the only product I've liked so far by The Mane Choice (even though I'm not sure if it really helped or not lol). I also used their 3in1 leave conditioner but I didn't really care for it... I love Power in Your Curl too! she's so sweet.
Your hair and nails are the last parts of your body to get nutrients. It all starts with food. Sometimes when you have any medical condition, the first thing you notice is hair loss. The literal definition of moisture is water or containing water. Oils do not moisturize. They seal in the moisture. Very good video!
Hello Shawnta and thank you for your videos! Are you not sending out diy hair growth oil to interested viewers anymore? In a previous vid; you gave instructions to email you. You would then send out the oil and then send invoices for $10. While watching this, I discovered information about the oil in the description bar saying that it's $13 and sold out currently. I emailed you weeks ago concerning the oil. Are you not doing it this way anymore or was I mistaken on how to obtain the oil? Thanks for your time! xoxo
Hello beautiful and thanx for the message! I discovered your email reply a minute ago and I replied back to you. I am eager to obtain your outstanding oil when it becomes readily available again. I'll be on the lookout for a notification email from you. I really appreciate your videos and tips. Peace & blessings xoxo
Water does not moisturize your hair? Don’t believe me? Just put water on your hair - nothing else. It’s going to dry out. Unless you’re activating sebum. However water does hydrate your hair. Moisturizers keep your hair both moisturized with that extra little bit of water and other ingredients while locking in the hydration from just the water. If you want your hair to be moisturized - you want to first hydrate it with water then moisturize with a cream. If you want to train your hair brush and stretch. That’s it. Brush and stretch.
Gabriel Runnells Thank you 😊 I couldn’t say it better myself🥰 Certainly and undoubtedly this is what the person was trying to explain to her vainly; unfortunately most of natural UA-cam gurus right here don’t get it; just read the comment section 🤷🏾♀️😓😩
Water is not a good moisture Um the LOC air LCO a method liquid or leave and if ur suppose to drink water water to keep healthy hair Water is not a good moisture im desd
About The Water. I Agree & Disagree With You. Although You Did Say What Works For YOU At The Beginning, As You Started Explaining The Whole Water Concept, You Make It Seem Like That Applies To Everyone. The Curly Hair Community Is VERY Diverse & I Feel Like There Is Almost Nothing That Applies To Everyone. I’ve Recently Big Chopped & I Watch These Videos On How Long People’s Hair Is A Year Later & Mine Has Grown That Much Within 2 Months. I Do Spray My Hair Everyday With Water & Conditioner Mixed, But For My Step Mom Who Is A Natural Hair Guru, She Tells Me Water Is Too Drying. Although You Should Look For Products That Start With Water, Water By Itself May Not Always Be For Some Peoples’ Hair Because It Can Be Very Drying Depending On How Your Hair Is. For My Hair, It Likes Water. But For Others’ , Not So Much.
They need to get a dictionary for dummies. Definition for moisture is water. Obviously its working for you or you wouldnt have been able to retain the lenght you have now. FYI Definition (copied n pasted): water or other liquid diffused in a small quantity as vapor, within a solid, or condensed on a surface.

I literally cannot just use water only to moisturize my hair. I have to pair it with a butter or creme with it or my hair will be a hot mess
The only time I use water in my hair is to wash it or break down my puff when I wear one.
Kinky Koily Kayla Do you mind share which products you've found to retain moisture? Thanks in advance!
Your tips really sounds like it would help. 👍
Hi thank you this was a great video!

Can you please do a tutorial on how to get a high pony and some other winter styles because it is winter in London❤ x
looking gorgeous
Ok I found you from Rochelle's page. Did you blog UA-cam black?
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️🤗
Deep condition too long for me makes my hair feel even more dry , does that mean I need to do a protein treatment or is my hair just weird ?
Tayah Alien what deep conditioner are you using?
What's "too long" ? Try following the directions on the package and see if that helps. Moisture overload is not fun...
It might be the product. Shea moisture DC dried my hair cuz of the coconut oil. I do diy and macadamia dc. My hair has grown so much
Can you please share your DIY and macadamia deep conditioner. I need help. I am having the same issue with the Shea moisture. Thanks so much
Wonderful!!!!!
What A Cooncedence That The Last Liquid I Put On My Hair For My LOC Method Was Water.
Thanks
Thanks 👏💖❤️👏👏👏👏

Hey Rochelle brought me here I’m glad because I have your hair and I’m looking for new products...I think I’ve been using the same products for so long and I feel like my hair is immune to the ingredients.

+Jada Brazzell not in my opinion
Jada Brazzell no
Girl tell em.
Number five should be the first everything comes frpm within and the rest follows
Water is the key to moisture
Love this!! ❤️ ♥️❤️. Do you use heat with your deep conditioning?
+Remi Lace not usually.. I don't use much if any heat
Does it really matter if the first or 5 ingredient isn’t water cause aren’t you already putting water on your hair before adding the products
I hear you on the deep conditioning for a longer period of time, but do you think that can make your hair weak? before I got my hair cut, the stylist said it was weak. I'm thinking maybe I over moisturize my hair, but if I do it less my hair will be dry. i don't get any of this haha

can castor oil be used to lock in moisture?
Little Brat yes i use it and my hair stays moisturized for at least 4 days
Absolutely. Wonderful oil for sealing in moisture. My hair is always crazy soft when I use it over water.
Your hair and nails are the last parts of your body to get nutrients. It all starts with food. Sometimes when you have any medical condition, the first thing you notice is hair loss. +T Gardner hey, yes my pricing went up..I just sent out a message to everyone if you didn't receive it please email me again and I'll send it to you 💕

Gabriel Runnells Thank you 😊 I couldn’t say it better myself🥰
Certainly and undoubtedly this is what the person was trying to explain to her vainly; unfortunately most of natural UA-cam gurus right here don’t get it; just read the comment section 🤷🏾♀️😓😩
Water moisturizes the hair the way God intended. And the other products are just add- ONS to water. Water will ALWAYS be queen of moisture.

FYI Definition (copied n pasted): water or other liquid diffused in a small quantity as vapor, within a solid, or condensed on a surface.
