    You make a great observation. It is rather contradictory to be so adamant about "only using natural products" yet feed the body mostly "processed food" instead of mostly "whole natural food" (:

      Jeekai W Yes, I believe she is vegan which is a "whole foods lifestyle" (among other eating lifestyles which primarily consist of whole foods, such as paleo or ketogenic). I'm not sure what you are questioning?

      Jeekai W -Wolfbabe is pointing out that she made a good observation with some naturals that use NATURAL/ORGANIC products but aren't eating natural/organic foods.

    My hair was waist length and I recently just cut about 3-5 inches off. People were tripping because they didn't understand that yes my hair WAS long but to me it wasn't healthy. I know it'll grow back so I'm not tripping lol

    How do black men get long hair?
    They wash it, grease it, and braid it.
    They don't mess in their hair and use a bunch of products.
    All we need to do is keep our hair from getting dry, and keep our hands out of it.
    Nice video.

    over the past two years since I've been natural I've tried every oil you can name....tons of products and my hair just wouldn't stay moisturized. I got really frustrated and went back to a few basics. now I use Garnier Fructis curl nourish shampoo and tresemme conditioner along with blue magic hair grease with jcbo mixed in and Cantu Curl Activating cream. My hair ABSOLUTELY loves these products. my hair is soft moisturized and my curls be poppin!! very little shedding and no breakage😆😆😆😆😆and it's gotten thicker

      When I was in elementary school I had waist length hair. All mama did was wash it, oil my scalp and use that blue magic hair grease, and braid it up. Every 2 weeks. Then I turned 13 and took matters into my own hands...😥 now I'm 29 and am going back to basics. My hair is still short as I big chopped last year,but its healthy and moisturized.

      There's a lady on the internet that has waist-length hey it might be a little longer than waist-length but she has her own products and that's the thing about it we do go through a lot of products before we learn how to manage our here and I went through a lot of products and when I first went natural I had a lot of shedding and that was that old colored hair that I died for a long time and I understand that now my shedding isn't bad at all what I get out of my hair because I don't comb my hair anymore I only called my hair when I wash it and I wash my hair about every 10 days maybe 10 to 14 days but when I first started my head Journey my natural hair Journey my hair grew very slow then I started doing other things but lately within the last pass I say three to four months I was taking a new supplement and I noticed my hair was growing rapidly and I mean it appeared like with in the was in a two month. My hair grow about 2 inches two and a half inches and I couldn't believe it's so I had to flatiron and when I flatiron my hair oh my goodness I was surprised how my hair had grown now I still use my oils and my shampoo and whatever else I use to clean my scalp I still use those things I use rice water and I noticed that maybe all the dead hear Shannon and now the new year is coming through I've been on my journey about three about three years now by the end of this year the 2019 will be approximately three years and as of last week which was 1st of March 2019 I was really surprised and I see the fruits of my labor

      That's what I tell lots of women that show off your beautiful gorgeous hair whether you are in the beginning of your hair Journey or you have gotten to the middle of your hair Journey I am at the point now where I do keep my hair braided so that I can put it up but I don't put on wigs or anything I'll wear my hat but I'll wear something to protect something silky to protect my hair but around the house I wear my hair open braided but open and I mean just in 3/3 plats and I do oil my hair through the plaits so that you know it won't get dry my hair scalp won't get dry and I oil my hair and oil seems to work for me and I do you use shea butter and that seemed to protect and work for me so far as moisturizing I use a moisturizing shampoo or I use a Moisturizing Conditioner I tried to do everything that I can and drinking water that helps moisturize your body which helps your hair and I do use apple cider vinegar so all these things can help you for hair growth and it takes a while it's not going to happen overnight when you talk about two three maybe four years maybe five years to get to your destiny with your hair growth so you know take your time eat healthy be healthy thing healthy and I'm get a massager did the hair massager that you can get wash your hair in the shower also and that promote hair growth at least they say it does but I am so surprised at my hair growth I am so very surprised and but I work hard I work hard with it

      I believe that too I really believe that you should let your hair breathe and do everything that you can do to have scalp stimulation and to keep your scalp clean because that's where the hair growth comes from is your scalp but like I say I am so happy with my hair growth and listen listening to several UA-camr that I mean a lot of UA-camrs that gave me such good ideas and I took them and I ran with them and I'm doing them and my head is growing I have a lot of boils I don't have a lot of hair products but I have a lot of oils that I collaborate with and do my hair and while I'm sitting down looking at TV not only does it help my hair but it helps my nails and I massage my hair or my scalp and I run the oil through my hair and I think that has a great deal to do with it too the people in my family have long hair no I don't know whether my sisters had long hair I know my mother had a fairly long hair but my mother comes from the old school hot comb pressing so but my sisters I don't know where the day went into chemicals or what they went into but they don't have the hair that they used to have but I am so grateful to the UA-camrs for helping me I thank you all UA-camrs for giving me good ideas about my hair and how to grow it and how to have patience now I'm just having patience

    My opinion is that your hair and nails don't need to breathe. They are dead. What they do need is moisture it's why I don't recommend people go more than 4 days without "washin" and conditioning to put that moisture back into the hair. When you wear tight braids the combination of the tension and then the dryness is too much which causes breakage.

      LifeAsKia Hi! I used to have this same problem. For me, a quick fix was rinsing with green tea... be careful with this because too much caffine can stun your hair. Another difference that is more long term would be protien. At times I just use a keratin mix in ny deep condition and every other month I do a real protein treatment.If it (your hair) is overconditioned then it is weak and may just be shedding because it isnt strong enough to sustain itself (think too elastic).I remember when having my hair moisturized every day,getting my hair drenched in water as the only way to style, and going out with still very damp hair was when my hair would noticably shed the most. So maybe don't overdo it with extra product that weigh down your hair. If all fails you may want to consider your diet if you are deficient in certain nutrients and it may be showing in your hair. This might not be your issue at all and our hair may be nothing alike but these changes helped me at least. Wish you the best!😊

    Guys your hair can't get used to a routine (edit:product). If your routine is balanced between protein, moisture, clarifying and styling there is no need to change it up because your hair "gets use to it". (edit: hair is not alive, it cannot develop an immunity to product, weather, chemical structure can influence the way a product works, but hair itself does not "get use" to products. It is a hair care myth).

    • @ShawntasWay
      @ShawntasWay  7 років тому +6

      Sherifa Star the statement was in reference to products..using the exact same products in your routine over and over and over will cause your hair to stop reacting..for ex like when you take the same medication all the time your body gets used to it and the medication will start to not take as well to your body bc you over use it, you'll end up needing more to get results or your body will becomes accustomed to the results. This is the same for products in ur routine; your hair will start to get used to the products if you don't switch them up from time to time

    • @MaSheri33
      @MaSheri33 7 років тому +15

      Shawntas Way I understood but your hair isn't alive like your body. You can't develop immunity to products. Normally when a becomes "immune" it's usually product build up from not shampooing hair regulary or weather/ environmental changes or a transition in structure of your hair from chemical or heat damage or even change in preference.

    So to those who struggled transitioning to natural, I am with you!!! I used to wear weaves non stop and my hair was uneven from damage to straightening leave out 🤦🏽‍♀️
    What worked for me was going full closures and frontals, but when I realized I wasn’t letting my hair breathe enough (and i’m a broke college student) I switched to wigs!
    This allows me to braid my hair in smaller chunks which helps me keep it moisturized (and helps cause idk how to cornrow lol).
    My hair is by no means waist length, i’m tryna get there too. But I’ve seen tremendous growth and health in my hair since the switch. Which has given me confidence and hope that in no time, my hair will be waist length too!
    I hope this helps someone lol, and if so like it so others can see 🤗🤗💕💕

    When i keep my hair braided with out extensions..my hair grows.....when i was a kid ...my .mom braided my hair in many styles and kept my hair oiled.....Once i became an adult and changed my hair frequently ...my hair had breakage.... so constant braiding helps my hair.....

    The problem with single strand knots is that they can end up getting stuck in combs, ripping the hair out at the root or breaking the knot off on the end, causing a split end. They are not good. Even if you only detangle with only your fingers, they are still a vulnerability that can lead to breakage but I find with certain hair types they are always forming so you just have to do your best to make sure your hair is always detangled well and that the knots are dusted off every once in a while.

      Rae Elle Try buying in bulk but cheap. Meal plan for the entire week. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, then snack again. Try Walmart and Aldi's for food, cheap but very good

    I've been natural all of my life and my hair is butt length when stretched. Only when I started using more natural hair products 6 years ago did I start seeing lots of hair growth. For most of the teenage years of my life I used hair products with mineral oil as the main product. Since I started using natural hair products about 6 years ago , my hair has been growing a lot faster (I'm now in my 20's). :)

    I keep my hair in braids or sew ins around 70% of the time and my hair is thicker and longer each time I take it down. I always make sure that I do a really good deep conditioning before I get my hair done and I also give my hair about a week or two in between where I focus on making sure my hair is moisturized. While my hair is in the styles I make sure to oil my scalp so I think that's my my hair is always improving in the protective styles. But I agree with you, if you just throw in style after are without any kind of maintenance then the hair is going to become weak and brittle, not to mention extremely dry.

    i have 4c short hair.neck length.it takes a much longer time to grow 4c hair than curly hair.Plus it shrinks when getting wet which i hate a lot.I hope and pray that my hair type will just "transform" into curly hair.(I think my hair is healthy) It looked like it had received heat damaged,but when i started to brush it out and deranged it,my hair looked healthy. I really like long hair. I would long waist length hair😭😭😭😭

      Venita Jones Yes, with a silk scarf. It helps to prevent breakage. Or you can sleep in a silk bonnet or on a silk pillow case. I don't know what hair texture you have but I have 3C hair and if I didn't tie my hair down at night it would be a mess in the morning!

    • @Mikelle157

      Boluwatiwi Ogunye NO, if you leave them they will just wind up affecting the rest of your hair. You're going to wind up having an even bigger problem where you won't just be cutting knots, but you'll have to cut off the actual length of your hair!

      Kendra collins I do a protein treatment once a month. Your hair is made up of protein so doing a protein treatment will help to keep it strong. I also wash my hair once every two weeks along with deep conditioning it( and I pre poo before shampooing. This helps to give your hair more moisture). Deep conditioning overnight gives your hair even more moisture. As far as styling goes I stick to the loc method. I also co-wash my hair once every 3 days to help keep it moisturized. Some people may do it more often, some less often, but my hair particularly needs it once every 3 to 4 days. Hope this helps!
