My husband and I made this lasagna last night. It was the first one we have ever made and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED! It was so good!!! Thank you for this amazing recipe!
I tried this tonight and I have to say it tastes pretty damn amazing. I substituted the beef for turkey and you hardly miss the red meat with this recipe! I added a little bit of milk to the pasta jar to extract the rest of the red sauce, and it definitely added a little bit of creaminess to the sauce. I recommend this recipe 10/10 :))
I've been waiting for this recipe since you guys eat it so often and rave about it! I'll be honest, I'm a huge ricotta fan so the idea of lasagna without it, doesnt *feel* like lasagna to me, but I know I have to try based on your guys' reaction!
I made one with bechamel years ago and never used ricotta again. It's not as gritty and you can make a variety of cheese sauces with it like a mornay sauce. :)
I infuse milk with bay leave, peppercorn, onions, few garlic cloves and nutmeg. Ideally night before. Then add into my heating roux from the fridge. Do NOT add warmed milk to heated roux as more likely to clump. The extra flavour is worth it and part of iconic lasagne taste
ErikaMarisa for a fast bechamel roux I would use cold milk. Are you making it to eat for today’s dinner? If not add extra step can infuse milk with garlic/onion/bay leaf if you have time. Just simmer for half an hour. By that stage roux will have cooled anyway so add bit by bit(ladle scoop)and there shouldn’t be any problems. The bechamel nutmeg is important as well , pretty much required for authentic version
God Is In The Details yes I’ll be making it in 7ish hours! I have all of that I’ll try simmering it this morning so It can cool down for later. Thank you!!
I'd try it but traditionally speaking ricotta cheese is a must.. atleast for me and fresh basil and tomatoes for the sauce. The white sauce isn't Italian its more popular in French cuisine but I'd definitely have a slice thanks! 😉
Pretty sure he's made it the regular way before, but he likes to put in his own twist as he goes, so it's Benji's lasagna! I am making this and I am definitely adding other ingredients in as well to make it even more flavorful. Ricotta cheese isn't totally necessary. I've gone without it and don't really miss it.
@@rdidri Bechamel is the traditional way. If you like ricotta then by all means do whatever suits you, but ricotta is a more "Americanized" filling (sort of). But mozzarella isn't traditional either, so who really cares. At the end of the day it's a pasta casserole, do whatever you want!
Excellent lasagna! I'm on keto diet, so instead of pasta used cabbage leaves, for the béchamel sauce instead of flour psyllium, fantastic lasagna! Thank you!
Omg! I just made this with some modifications and its was the bomb! I substituted the meat with ground plant based 'beef' and used 1/2 parmesan+1/2 mozrella , and threw some extra black pepper and garlic salt in the bechamel sauce. BOMB DIGIDDY.
I tried this today! I used oven ready pasta and it was amazing. I am shook. I accidentally made 2 huge pans, so I think my bf and I are going to be eating this for the next week and 1/2. I don't mind though! Soooooo good!
Ok! I have been following along with the fam for years now. Y'all's food always looks sooo good. I am vegetarian, mostly vegan aside from trying the occasional cheese or pizza. So- I wanted to hop on here and say thank you for posting this recipe. I successfully made this lasagna using all plant based meat/sausage/and cheeses. Even the beschemel, with plant based butter. I subbed out the onions and garlic since I've been having reactions to those wonderful foods. (Sad, because I loved me some sauteed onions my whole youth). But I used mushrooms and broccoli. It was absolutely delicious. Any vegetarians out there- it is possible! And it is so worth it! I cannot wait to bring this to a family gathering and shock everyone that it isn't cheese and meat but still so good! Thank you, again! And love to you, Judy and your wonderful children!
Cant wait to make it tomorrow! 😁 I still make your guacamole recipe to this day! I have received so many compliments! Siracha sauce is a must and brings the flavour to a whole other level! 😍 Love how your recipes are simple and dont have to get that one special ingredient and not use it up! 👌
I made this the other night for dinner. I’m an intermediate cook & the recipe was easy to follow. My fiancé loved it, he said “this is your new dish” so I know what I’m bringing to my nephew’s bday party on Saturday! Thx for the recipe 😊👩🏾🍳
@@BenjiManTV pastitsio has got exactly the same ingtedients and it is as tasty as lasagna. You just use different kind of pasta .Ligtly greese your pyrex and sprinkle bread crumbs then stack pasta ,meat sauce, pasta ,bechamel and cheese. Before you do that take a couple of egg whites whisk them ,add some cheese and stir you pasta in it. Give it a go !
I literally went out to buy the ingredients and making this right now. It smells delicious and super excited to take a bite for the final product! Thanks for the recipe!!!! 🤤
The browning on that cheeeeese!!! 😘 *Chef's Kiss* literal P E R F E C T I O N!!! 🧀🧀🧀 Gonna scale this down to half and try it. My lasagna is notorious for noodles trying to escape the pan 🤣🤦🏾♀️
Been using this recipe for a year now whenever I make lasagna and my family loves it. When I'm feeling lazy about shredding my own cheese, I use the bag of parmesan and mozzarella cheese and they still come out perfect and yummy 🤤 I make two small dishes of this and freeze the other one sometimes. If you do freeze them, let it thaw for 24hrs in the fridge and bake it for 60-70mins instead of 40. Then broil it like normal.
THIS LOOKS SO DELICIOUS 😭 I don't know how to cook but I'm definitely going to try this one out since I love eating lasagna. Thank you for this Benji!!! 💛
I came here from ‘It’s Judy’s Life’ vlog dated October 19, 2022. Watching you make your 8 hour sauce in yesterday’s video & todays video too, I want my own house to smell like an Italian restaurant! Thank you for your instructions given with so much enthusiasm, Beni. Wish me luck! 👩🍳
Tried this recipe last night and WOW!!! Absolutely delicious! I’m mom to some of the pickiest eaters on the planet that typically turn their noses up to lasagna...not last night!! The whole family enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing! 😃
Benji! Just made this for my bf for fathers day because his favorite food is lasagna. I honestly don't know why I haven't made this before now!! Absolutely delicious! I need to work on my bechamel, but other than thst, WOW! Also, I'm a huge fan of the vlogs, been watching for about 10 years now! Thanks for sharing this lasagna recipe, excited for the pizza one :D
i'm italian and when my mom and nonna make tomato sauce, they add a teaspoon of sugar to offset the acidity of the tomatoes, and i'd say ketchup isn't too different since it's mostly sugar and tomato haha :)
Tried the bechamel sauce for my kids white pasta. My daughter said 👍👍👍👍(not sure where she got the other 2 pairs). My eldest said absolutely yummy. I'll try your lasagna next!
Hi Benji ! I just made this for my family ! And let me tell you , i can’t ever go back to regular lasagna! This is by far the best most creamiest lasagna ever ! Thank you for sharing !
I am from India. When i came to the USA, one of my roommate made vegetarian Lasagna with egg plant and i absolutely loved it. If possible can u share the recipe if there is one. That was my best memory of Lasagna.
Dropping by to say that this lasagna recipe is BOMBDOTCOM! Tried this last night and my mama loves it with 5 thumbs up! Thank you for this recipe Benji! Love from PH 🇵🇭
I have come here to tell you that your béchamel sauce is the TRUTH. Genuinely a revelation. I actually had some leftover, I didn't wanna waste it, so quickly boiled some pasta, added it to the leftover béchamel and made myself another meal 😅
Very good recipe!! From an italian: next time just put some sugar if you want a sweet sauce and don't boil the pasta, it will cook with the extra water of the sauce. Still looks awesome and yummy!
I‘m from germany and never heard of lasagna with ricotta cheese! Always with Béchamel over here. Trying your recipe right now and I think i will switch mine to this one 🤤 already looks sooo good can’t wait till it’s done. Thank you!
You should definitely think about adding carrot and celery to make a proper soffritto. It makes the bolognese sauce SO much better. Also, add smoked bacon pancetta!! So so good
my husband and i have been dreading making lasagna because it just felt like an overwhelming process. but after watching this, i definitely think it's achievable!
this is so good. I have made the lasagna which was amazing and made me look like super chef to my extended family recently. Also have made bacon mac and cheese with the bechamel alone. I cant believe I never knew about this before.
This recipe is no joke! Papa said “much better than Olive Garden” 🤣🤣🤣
Also Mama approved.
@@BenjiManTV wowww 😁
Everything Benji makes looks super Yummy!
You need to start a restaurant/bistro.
We would travel all the way from India to eat there :) :)
I would pay more for Benji's than Olive Garden lol
Please put some nutmeg in the bechamel.
I LOVE HOW BENJI EXPLAINS EVERYTHING WITH GUSTO. HE IS INDEED A FOODIE. GOOD JOB CHEF BENJI.
Thank you.
Yes love that about Benji! Awesome recipe
تظخخگخ~+

My boyfriend and I made this tonight and it was amazing!! Thank you for the great recipe.
Also, the broiling at the end was perfection! Best lasagna we have ever had/made. Our home smelled like an Italian restaurant! Thank you again!!
I actually made this and it was freaking amazing like probs better than any restaurant lasagne I’ve had

Good explanation
i just made lasagna the other day - guess im making more lasagna!!! love yall since the apartment days!!!!

Benji Travis It’s just a simple white sauce. Always needs a pinch of nutmeg.
I’m trying the lasagna today. He heated the milk up before pouring it into the roux, do you entirely skip this step and just add it in cold?

This Italian saw the ketchup, but I have much respect for you in the kitchen so I didn’t even question it. Your lasagna looks delicious!
Just made this tonight & my fiancé had seconds. (he never cares to eat lasagna lol) Your recipe will stay in my household !

My lactose intolerance just laughed at me.
You can use lactose free milk and cheeses are lactose free naturally so this recipe is defo available for you :)
Just looking at this video it gave me diarrhea 🤣🤣💀
LOL, it would have been in stitches laughing had he used Ricotta as well. LOL...........gots to have my ricotta.
I love looking at recipes but I will keep making my lasagne recipe. My family love it
