i swear, that virus goo was the single most terrifying antagonist i ever encountered as a child. i barely played the "campaign" mode because i was too stressed out about not being the racer who got to leave.
It's weird I can remember it all so vividly and word for word, even the music. I've not played nor thought about this game for fifteen years or more and still it remains logged into my memory. Great relic of a PC racer!
it happened the same to me... a few days ago i was podcasting with some Friends and talking about old videogames from our child Hood couldnt not recommend this one. i have to play it again some time.
RW:Back in the 90s my bro got into racing games at a young age and POD was one of them ,he was actually good then came the N64 and diddy Kong Racing was his next type of racing .
As a kid, I really thought this game was so fucking cool. I would give anything to play it again, along with so many other '90s and early '00s games of my youth. Don't even need modern games. My childhood games are all I would ever need.
Kind of interesting to look back on the premises now. It SCREAMS 90s, all the tropes are there. Still, can't argue it worked, and worked well. Interesting that they should craft so much narrative behind what ultimately amounts to a racing game. I'm surprised more doesn't take place near or around the game's antagonist, the viral goop. I've watched playthroughs, and you don't really see it beyond these two FMV's.
It is basically a planet-size alien flower that's not been bloomed. It had been dormant until it is exposed to heat and light (after the mining accident as the "skin" is tampered by humans, thus releasing the catastrophic mold). It was thought by the civilization as a habitable planet for colonization.
E ae Felipe! Achei esse video no Gamefaqs. Acabei de publicar lá minha versão. Fz upscale dessa intro usando o TOPAZ. ficou bem bacana. Caso queira, confere depois vendo os vídeos lado a lado pra poder ver a diferença! Eu virei evangelista do Topaz :) Abraços!

Remember this one. Used to play it as a kid on my family's Windows 95 computer.
The fallout of racing games back in the day, the sci-fi level design amazes me to this day.
I loved how you could play the CD-rom in a stereo and listen to the soundtrack. 💕

This game was so much fun. Wish there was a remake of this, I miss driving the Scorp.
I played yesterday as Bakar.
Yo @ubisoft do it for the fan
I used to play this game with my cousin when I was a kid. He passed away 22 years ago and this game reminds me of him. Great memories!!

I had this game on my dad's Gateway 2000 PC. This and Indycar Racing! Classics 🙂
I thought only 1 person survived. But aperantly many survived. Only the last place they raced to get.
I love this game! I always chose Gamma as my car. Never completed it sadly
I played this game at a friend´s house once, and i didn´t know, how dark/bizzare the plot was.

"An old Windows 95"... that's the operating system, not the hardware. What about the COMPUTER you played it on? :)
