I see the hoverbike gliding over the landscape and I just keep expecting it to hit a rock and explode at any given moment and then I have to wake up in the hospital and ... oh wait wrong game.
Looks entertaining, but like Starfield, NOT worth the $70+ price tag. I'll also wait for mods to come out as I am not a fan of the main character design in the slightest.
If you must risk being brainwashed by Disney and Ubiwoke trash content just pay $18 for 1 month and immediately cancel so you won't forget. I promise when you are done you will even regret that.
The problem with Ubisoft, and all big publisher games, is that their executives can afford to buy talent working for them but then turn all their work into brown post digested slop through focus groups, spreadsheet management and souless margin hunting above all else. Margin they dont share with the talent. So sorry Ubisoft talent... You have to lose those executive hacks if you want your work to shine.
@@walker1054 Morph is glancing over a lot of issues here he is a bad game reviewer. He barely listed all the bugs, problems, nonsensical stuff etc. he is what someone would call toxicly positive. I mean he still talks Star Citizen into a good light while admirable that he stays so positive its just wrong to do so as it fakes a lot of players that trust him into buying bad products.
@@NorthIniumwell yea he doesn’t really note the average gameplay, this is a game and gameplay has to be good, 2000s era games weren’t really narrative heavy (shooters mainly) they just had great set pieces with satisfying gameplay (and data logs do not count as main narrative)
With all of the issues that have been pointed out by everyone, and I don’t disagree that there are issues, I have still just been having a blast with this game. Way more than I thought I would. I have a smile on my face throughout so much of it. I just take my time, walk through the cities and landscapes and take on jobs or main quests when I am ready. Just meet the game on its level and it becomes a truly great Star Wars game. Again, yes, AI issues, some performance hiccups, but overall it is a game more than the sum of its parts. Especially for a Star Wars fan.
I’ve been really enjoying it. There are a few bugs at times but they haven’t impeded the overall experience. As I learn more and more I start to grow in appreciation for the systems the game uses for stealth and combat.
The amount of Gameplay limitations in a game with the word "Outlaw" in the title is the main reason for me to rate it low midtier. Not to mention the hilariously bad physics,a sometimes nice looking but boring "Open World" and generic Gameplay mechanics, which we,ve seen 1000 times before, but much better. But hey if people have fun playing it,that's totally cool.
@@pauls9034 good for you man, if you've never played an ubisoft game it would seem like magic. However all they have done is put a skin over assassin's creed. It's not that special. The fight mechanics have been shoe horned in. Most of the budget has been spent on marketing and IP rights and it really shows seeing as it's just another AC clone. If you've never played any AC games then you're lucky.

Its always weird when people acknowledge that it "needs time in the oven" but its fine cause its a good game. Unfinished products have never been a good game to me like Mass Effect andro. The only thing about this game that is very good is the graphics. But pretty graphics cant hide the horrible gameplay on display.
Exactly this. It is malignant to recommend this game in its current state. Also, the main charactergraphics during dialogue aren't good at all. Almost PS3 quality
I think the only thing apparent here is the fact that games, as art, can be massively subjective. "Broken games" can be good even for relatively large audiences. Fallout games, for example, even when they were still under the hands of interplay and black isle, always come out as technically broken messes but still manage to capture people's imaginations with its story, world and characters Even graphical fidelity is subjective, i for one do not mind these graphics, but im sure for others its a deal breaker Morph presenting his opinion on it, given his relatively unique background as starwars nerd professional architect is valuable because it helps present the game in a perspective that might help people gain more of an understanding of it; you know from a certain point of view kinda thing
@gypsyfromthesatelliteoflov5425 thats not even true at all...... Last good fallout/besthesda game was new vegas and people just build a tolerance to like fallout 4 just like they did with starfield. Like wasnt 76 made to compensate for 4.
@@fearpacex6000 but fallout 4 was commercially successful and it gave people a platform to get mods like fallout london out. Honestly the lack of customization is what did it in for me. theres a couple upgrades here and there and some skins but thats it. To me for a open world game thats disappointing for me. I would of loved to have some options for personalization. even having different weapons to choose from and more than just that same speeder bike. Also, I'd like to throw in the fact you cant really interact with the world around you was probably the worst part. Its 2024 and i really want to see game developers go the extra step beyond what is necessary, Especially when they're charging 100 dollars here for just the base game. The little things are what matters.
@@MolemanITA You have to buy different clothing and equip it in order to change the way she looks. There are a couple of warm weather clothing options. They actually made her shiver without it, it was a nice attention to detail. As for customization, I get the desire for it but on the otherhand that's not what this game was going for. It's not a choose your own adventure RPG, it's an open world game with a linear storyline like all the other Star Wars games we've been getting as of late. They wanted to make a Canon character, which precludes any modification, same as Cal Kestis. It's a bit like saying I'd like it more if it was a racing game. Sure, but it's not that.
@Morphologis I understand that, thanks for the reply BTW, its appreciated. I bought the game so I'm going to play through it. There are some good aspects of the game but I get certain parts where I struggle to find the urge to keep playing. Combat seems stale after the first couple hours that's why I was hoping for customization or to be able to keep different weapons. Just doesn't seem like an overall fulfilling experience to me. Your review seems on point but there are some things a disagree with but hey not the end of the world.
It's a bad game with stealth mechanics that are trumped by decades old games like Thief. The fact that a lot of people in the comments are fine with games consistently regressing is just embarrassing.
I wish it was all the stun blaster instead of the takedowns for that reason, she isn't strong enough to do that? 😭😭😭 I get its for balancing but they could have made it super short range on default and then the longer range shot wait time.
People are defending this game. “Just mediocre” isn’t something we should be ok with from one of the biggest publishers in the world, with one of the biggest IP’s in the world, at full triple A pricing
Well beyond triple A if you look at it. 70 bucks is just barely the base game (same scheme with AC shadows) and the true base is the next price up. Then there's the preposterous 130 dollar price for what? "Dlc"? Extra quest(s)? Stuff that was made before the games release and yet the studio has the gall to ask for more money to include it? That right there is a scummy practice that needs to be nipped in the bud. It's exactly what the entire argument was back when dlcs became a thing. I never had a problem forking over more money for fresh content to expand and enhance these worlds i came to love. But it's hard to argue against the entire controversy that once was when the dlc is being sold along the "base" game before it's even been released ya know lol. And all that to say, besides your original point which i absolutely agree with brotha. And i can't believe I'm seeing defence in favor of this game saying "clearly they only played the story mode which is where all the bugs are" lol. They gotta be trolling lol
This ^ When compared to games 10 or even 15 years older than this game, those older games blow this game out of the water, the gameplay, mechanics, facial animations, general npc interactiveness, environment interactivity, no swimming, stealth mechanics, just about everything I have comes up as an empty shell of a game, especially one they say is open world. It's easy to have an open world when there's basically nothing in it and nothing reacts or interacts with each other. They really don't expect people to compare it to older games? Why not, older games are always the baseline for new games, just sitting this game apart and only comparing it to itself is pointless.
Even though I think this is a very good game, I would never have paid $70 for it, and if I had, I would feel ripped off. I have Ubisoft+ at founder's level pricing ($14.99/month), and I play a lot of Ubisoft games, so for me it's worth it, but I will say my rating of the game is at least somewhat influenced by the fact that I didn't pay a minimum of $70 or a maximum of $130 for it.
@@z-beeblebrox For me, at least? It's privately owned and operated (the only one that is AFAIK), is arguably the best and most consumer friendly CDN and storefront in the industry, and has existed the longest, outlasting their competition. Instead, they're free to operate as they see fit, dictated predominantly by both sides of their user base.
@@RayneAngelus Those are all great reasons. I think my main concern/skepticism though comes from the fact that if you got rid of all these other "bad" stores, Steam would effectively have a monopoly on PC gaming storefronts - which is a far bigger concern these days than it was when Steam first launched and most people bought physical copies of games.
I like the idea of the story and Star Wars is Star Wars but honestly the core gameplay just looks lame from what I’ve seen. The ability to mark characters and have xray vision etc.. just breaks the emersion they have tried to create. Just feel generic Ubisoft rpg with a Star Wars skin.

FWIW, I'm about 12hrs in and am enjoying it. It might sound weird, but it reminds me of my time with Death Stranding; where it wasn't about the fight mechanics or battling the bosses, and most of your time is spent simply running your business. If you pick a fight with stormtroopers, it escalates so fast that I end up regretting it :-) so most of the time I'm avoiding them. It's the sort of game where you stop and spend the time watching the guards do their rounds, and plan your approach so that you're hidden in tall grass...and then can clobber one guy while he's looking away and before his buddy comes back in view. It's not a run and gun game at all. Overall I'd say I'm enjoying it as much as I enjoyed Jedi Survivor so far.
I got Jedi Survivor at launch and actually returned it because it was so unpolished. I picked it up on sale a few months ago and I've been playing it off and on, but it certainly not worth $70.
I found using Nix made it a lot easier to navigate without having to stop in some spots for too long. It’s kinda like with Watchdogs, the abilities and hacks made it more fun to move around instead of just waiting.
@@MildChunkySalsa Yup, if you get stuck and can't work out to get past a certain point, it's probably because you haven't realised that there's a hidden switch somewhere and you can dispatch Nix to pull the lever and open a door.
This a review I appreciate. I hope you get into doing this sort of thing more. When I saw the ACG review I knew what it was and then the trash-it reviews started and I just didn't care. I'll buy it when it's complete and on sale and probably enjoy it fairly well at that time.
The massive issue i have with the game is this. That game had so much potential. They should've made a character builder instead. Re worked the stealth and weapons sets. Instead of being just a smuggler it should have given different class options. Such as smuggler and bounty hunter and the beauty of being a bounty and you also have different races and classes that also. Such as gungan mandalorians and a plethora of races. You could choose being either a heavy a light. Gunslinger. Its just sooo mucb they could have done. And i mean an F ton but nooooo. They did this it just pisses me off how creatively bankrupt they are. The wanted system couldve been better. And shoot a multiplayer wouldve been awesome. Coupd do heists and bounties together. Unlocking and finding different armor sets and weapon builds. Brand new and never before seen ships. Fighting both the empire and rebels or working with either or.
Okay, so the more insidious empire? The empire of Andor? That was the empire before Palpatine had "All the cards" in his hand. Around the time when Outlaws would be set, it would be the empire of post Alderaan. They had already blown up a planet, all just to "Send a message" to a rebellion that had only just been born. The point isn't that they are "comically evil", it's that they are inept. Palpatine, by that point, did not want to run an empire. He was able to lose the mask he'd been wearing basically since Episode 1.
I’m only 10 hours in and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I think people just want to hate the game. Reminds me of Mad Max, badly reviewed hated. But once the dust settled it was a cult classic. Not saying that will happen here, but 10 hours in I don’t get the hate.
Mad Max was not badly reviewed and that game was and still is superb. It's blasphemy you even compared Outlaws to Mad Max. Mad Max has multiple weapons to acquire and upgrade and an extremely robust melee system with a lot of unlockable finishers and environment moves. You have dozens of different vehicles to collect and utilise, and an expansive world with TONS of collectibles and nooks and crannies to discover secrets and unlockables. Outlaws couldn't even lace max's boots. It's embarrassing you even compared these two games because Outlaws is generic corposlop with bad combat, mundane mechanics, and limited interactivity.
I mean I don’t think it is worth 70€. It might be especially for younger people a good game, but at some point in life you don’t want to spend time and money on a mid game. It seems made for a younger audience.
@@Billy-bc8pk I didn’t compare the games themselves but how people felt about them. Also check the reviews. PC Gamer and Kataku did not give it a good review. Yeah man, I really like this game so far. Nowadays, so often we see viral negativity started by a few reviewers and taken up by a massive mob of people who have never even played the game. I enjoy the stealth aspects, and that is coming from someone who rarely enjoys stealth mechanics. The missions unfold in a really nice way with good but not overwhelming approach choice. The world is interesting and fun to explore, uncovering clues feels natural. The UI and design aesthetic nails it. The combat is decent. I don't know how people can gripe about combat and compare it to Red Dead or whatever, Rockstar combat is always janky and can be cheesed. Saying Far Cry or other open world games are better makes no sense to me. Far Cry? With those generic corny unbelievable characters? The Star Wars setting really helps this game for me personally, I really enjoyed the world, the cities, etc. I don't know man. I purposefully chose to just relax and take in the game for what it was and I found it easy to suspend disbelief and be engaged in the story and my personal progression. This game is a true 8.0 - 9.0 for me because getting me to give a fuck about doing things in an open world or the story of some random franchise is getting harder and harder these days. If you like Star Wars and can enjoy it, and gaming, without nitpicking and searching for hot takes this game is solid. Ans as a plus, since this is getting panned so hard you can wait for a sale. People out here trying to get that petty cash by making the hottest take, don't let the negativity mob get in your way of enjoying this hobby.
Seriously. I'm not Ubisoft or Disney fan, but there channels that literally grift on making several videos a day - all just regurgitating the same stuff on consuming media that they apparently hate. It's unhealthy.
Totally agree with most of your take. I'm loving this game. The combat is so much better after filling out the experts. Such a great system compared to a skill tree and more meaningful.
Definitely, I understand criticism but people are actively harassing those who like this game and discrediting their opinions as bought and paid for. Let people have different opinions, let people enjoy games regardless of how you feel about or who makes them
The most 5/10 game of all time. This game is a disappointment, and im very glad I didnt get hurt by ubisoft and their terrible practices especially with the 3 day early access purchasers. Its really sad to see good reviews on a soulless and poorly designed game with ass takedown animations, fake stealth gameplay and poor weapon mechanics all trying to piggyback on the history of the rich star wars IP Overall, this game is a disgrace to the otherwise excellent art and ground locations that the artists worked so hard on.
Spot on and well said. The fact so many Gen Z/Gen A gamers are okay with this Ubislop corposlop is disheartening. We are literally moving backwards now in gaming. Games from 20 years ago still run circles around all this modern corposlop. Halo 3 is also still one of the best FPS games ever made and no console game has come remotely close. Mad Max and Max Payne 3 are still two of the best TPS games ever made and no game has remotely come close to those since then. It's just embarrassing. Plainly embarrassing.
I found the portrayal in Andor perfect. A huge systematic bureaucracy that slowly encroaches and over time gets worse and worse for the individual, ever so slightly that in the end, no one feels opressed, because they are so used to the status quo by then. Reminds us on some real world dictatorial states. This all works until the Empire lashes out and show force, that is when they start to fail in the eye of the public. I mean, they are pretty evil here in Outlaws but they still perform patrol duty (to keep the citizens safe *ahm*) fight of pirates in space and you can even get to talk to some crooked ones for loosing some heat. They also do not just kill you for entering their territory, you can still back out of restricted areas if possible...this does of course not work if you stand in the middle of their base already ^^
@@triptych5998 That's literally what the Empire was for decades. It is incredibly corrupt state, some times tona point of comedy. And this is absolutely how real corruption works
I do think some of the hate is blind hate but so is some of the love. The landscapes have some wow moments but there is a lot wrong with this game on the level of Black Flag and Starfield and to say that it is "Amazing" is just as wrong as saying the game is "Absolute garbage". Hell at this point, any normal person should give this game a wide berth for 3-6 months simply b/c no one can seem to truly be objective about the damn thing

@@Morphologis That as well. Also, coming off the heels of a project as thoroughly disapponting as the Acolyte, everyone's attitude toward this game seems to be an echo of what happened after TLJ to Solo
@Morphologis The only Star Wars to come out of Disney + that hasn't been woke garbage was the first two seasons of Mandalorian and Andor and maybe several animated shows. Either way, Outlaws has horrible a.i. and combat, as well as terrible character animations. It definitely has amazing environments and architecture and space stuff is ok, but that stuff is more of a part to the game that is supposed to supplement the former
Yeah, as soon as I saw the horse unicorn things riding along star destroyers, I switched off. Haven't watched what happens next , I'd rather block all sequels out of my mind. Hopefully they will undo this mess at some point and re-build it into what it should of been.
I'm avoiding this game out of principles at this point. Firstly it is Ubisoft. You dont own your games, and they have priced themselves out. Along with he industry trend of releasing games before it is done. And this launch has showed exactly that. The other part is that I lost all interest and hope for disney star wars, that is not star wars anymore. So not feeling it with this one.. And lastly the smaller nuances they just made a female han solo.. this would be the perfect Han Solo game.. The woke decision to make the Key character different from the model she apparently is based on... This is just like the Horizon Zero Dawn change of Aloy in Forbidden West. In the end a huge waste and wrong doing to once a amazing game studio. That be Massive Entertainment. I hope this failure won't affect them to much, and they can give us a Ground Control or World in Conflict in the future 🌟
Honestly, this was more fun than playing that ginger jedi. Star Wars open world RPG, travelling to multiple planet systems.....etc... someone needs to do it. Just not Bethesda, Ubisoft, or EA.
You have shown locations and portions of this game that no one else has. They then bemoan the game but wonder if they even played anything more than a couple extra missions and the story. I have been plucking away bit by bit at this game and I have had plenty of fun. I will say I am a huge star wars fan who loves the original trilogy and Han was always my favorite character. So... This game was made for me. The game isn't perfect from a gameplay stand point. But is it fun...? I think it is fun enough to warrant a play through. It's the most fun I have had running around in the Star Wars Galaxy since SWG back in the day.
This is par for the industry, especially on big controversial releases. Time crunch to get things out on embargo lift his huge, so some need to rush through the game to 100% the main story in order to deliver an opinion, but in rushing they don't take the time to play it as the creator intended causing them to sometimes miss vital story elements and character development. This is why I posted earlier this week I wasn't going to post on embargo lift, I didn't want to feel that pressure and deliver a half-baked opinion. I let the game cook, experienced as much as I could, and I'm glad for it. I would have missed out on a ton of extra abilities and features, I probably wouldn't have even known they were there. In fact, even giving myself extra time wasn't completely enough. After posting, I kept playing, and discovered a secret skill giver with a great story tie to ND-5. I'll leave it at that.
You know nothing complements your1,500th fetch quest like really pretty scenery. You can feel how little the dev team cared about whether or not the gameplay is pointless and boring or if the story is a generic dim witted and erratic mess. Forget the fact that the game gives your main character a weapon so bad you're constantly picking up enemies weapons which you will auto drop for any conceivable reason. Yup one might say Ubisoft really out did itself in not only making an even duller clone of Assassins Creed but also took a steaming dump on a beloved IP's corpse that has been desecrated for money since 1981. This is one of the most ridiculous in reviews I've ever heard. You even compliment the stealth? THE STEALTH! The stealth attack looks like a William Shatner karate chop from the original Star Trek and also the enemy AI is so bad it revals redfall. Hope your proud of this "work" and enjoy the Ubisoft codes you get giving garbage like this relevance.

No, people are angry about the fact that this game isn't being reviewed objectively. Mad Max is a decade old and has more gameplay and nearly the same level of graphics. Assassin's Creed Unity is also a decade old and has better graphics (ther eis literally a comparison video between the two and it's just embarrassing). The mechanics are limited, the open-world has no interactivity. The combat is mundane; there is barely any customisation, and compared to Ghost Recon Wildlands, Outlaws falls WAAAAAAY short as an open-world TPS, given you have a ton of weapons and customisation in Wildlands and plenty of vehicles. There is literally nothing about Outlaws that does anything better than its peers, even games made a decade ago by Ubisoft!
Haven't people already pointed out the game's flaws and performance issues? Even this video acknowledges them. What more do you want? Do you want them to rage like those ragebaiting grifting channels that thrive on negativity? Saying its the worst game ever made? It seems like you're upset that people enjoyed the game just because they don't share your opinion that this game should be trashed.
@@jesseomollo9405 It sets an extremely bad precedent that people are accepting lower quality games for higher prices. This trend will continue on, as people will keep buying games with poorly implemented mechanics, less content than what we had from games 20 years ago, and far fewer features than what we had 10 years ago. It's the same as what happened with horse armour DLC -- it started as a microtransaction and ballooned into an incorrigible practice within the industry that now makes up the brunt of revenue sales for most gaming publishers, making games worse int he process. This is one of those games that sets the trend of making gaming worse overall: it tells Ubisoft that they can produce corposlop for double the price of most games and people will pay for it all while getting less in the process. Anyone who actually cared about games culture would care about this negative trend sweeping the industry, but sadly it looks like a lot of people in this comment section support the dissolution of quality in the gaming industry.
When I read on a developers website that one of the main creative directors for the game at Ubisoft Massive and many of the developers hadn’t worked on a single player game before, I was very hesitant. After playing for many hours I can honestly say that I am enjoying it, even with its flaws. To me its main flaws are to do with some stealth, melee, combat mechanics, some of the writing and Kay’s design and facial animations. Hopefully they will patch some of these out. I think they have captured the essence of Star Wars pretty well and the worlds and environments are gorgeous and incredibly immersive. You can see and feel the amount of love they have put into the game and I appreciate that.
@@arronstone177 Yeah, it grew on me, and it forced me to, well, THINK before I acted. And I like how you can use Nix to help when you have to go stealth.
@@MarcMcKenzie-qb6or Nix with improved abilities is so good later in the game, specially since some enemies you can’t just punch away. I found his attack useful and had to plan on who to stun before just wasting it
How much is stealth relied upon for progression? Like, can I shoot my way out if I'm utterly failing to stealth correctly? I'm not a fan of stealthy gameplay and prefer to just run and gun kind of action. A few stealth tasks or puzzles here and there, fine, but some reviews are making it look like the game is something like 80% stealth play and some have gone so far as to claim that you don't even have access to a gun for a lot of the game. That amount of sneaking is a total dealbreaker for me.
10:59 My only complaint about the game is, I haven’t found I had to carefully time anything with nix. I’m not even sure he can fail In any of his actions. I wish they found a way to make it feel like there’s a possibility your stealth actions with nix can fail or are the wrong ones to use in the moment. Right now he feels like a get out of jail free card for everything. Besides that I like the environment, the sound, the visuals were mainly fixed, The story is good, It’s a solid game.
Thanks for the honest review. I'd also seen the waves of constant negativity, but in all of the streams I've watched, it looks pretty fun, somewhat immersive, and a great slice of Star Wars. The only thing still putting me off is the price point, but I keep forgetting about that monthly subscription option. I'll probably end up giving it a try.
This game reminds me of Horizon Zero Dawn: Beautiful looking game that's so cookie-cutter in the gameplay that it doesn't hold my attention whatsoever. I instantly get bored of this world which is just a good looking theme park rather than feel like a living breathing world. The NPCs go around in do their business in Outlaws but that's the BASE of any open world adventure game. Characters in decades old games like Morrowind and Shenmue had full schedules but in Outlaws they don't even react to gunfire. We've gone backwards.
Morph! You nailed it as always man, THIS is what we meant when we said SC may have been holding you back a bit. You’re an expert in your field; masterclass editing and that ever-enticing voiceover of yours is truly one of a kind. Well done my friend!
@@theCabsAreHere1 I really appreciate the kind words. It’s hard to find games I’m interested in covering, I’m glad we finally got an open world Star Wars game.
Yes, it's a decent game. Def has its moments. Easily worth a one month subscription to ubisoft+. It's a pity the hive mind has spoken and the swarm is incapable of independent thought
No we the gamers will never give this game a chance because I played Wukong and the game journalists trashed the reviews on that game. Sick of these same Devs screwing us the gamers. Wukong is an easy 9. Wukong is not even close to an 8. I finished the game and I am also close to finishing it a second time. Glad that the gamers are not falling for these devs lies anymore. We are done with them. We the gamers have the power to make them go the way of the DODO.
Nice that you liked Wukong, but people do like SW OUTLAWS. If you don't want to give the game a chance, fine, but that also means that you can't give an informed opinion on it since you haven't played it. And that applies to me in regards to WUKONG--I haven't played it yet, so the only thing I will say is that I am interested in playing it...after I'm done with SW OUTLAWS. (Oh, and nobody paid me off to play SW OUTLAWS--I plunked down my own money for it, and I'm enjoying it)
I'm not sure yet, but you might have persuaded me to try this game! I've been itching for a Star Wars RPG that focuses on a non-Jedi but this one has gotten so much negative publicity since it started ramping up. When you commented on the inability to keep other weapons from the world, I realized I was hoping a little bit for a more Skyrim-esque experience, though. Something with a lot of character options that affect gameplay in a meaningful way.
Been playing non-stop since the 27th, haven't gotten close to finishing the main story as i've been doing every side quest i come across. The graphics are beautiful The atmosphere of locations are spot on The gameplay (whilst i've only experienced a couple of bugs, no biggie as EVERY game has them) emphasises stealth but most games do anyway and it's kinda more fun than just holding LMB to blast everything all the time The reputation system is very well done to the point where i've reloaded saves to see what the gain/loss is like and changed my option more than a couple of times The side quests are just as well done as the main story The easter eggs you come across put a smile on my face everytime I downloaded the game with low expectations and hadn't seen any media on it aside from the reveal trailer and i think that's how people show go into a game, not just Outlaws. I'd like a few more named characters to be male where it makes sense, having a majority of the people you connect with be female kind of pulled me out of the interactions but it's something i've moved past and realised it honestly doesn't matter. Not sure what this "Ubisoft buggered up early access saves with the day 1 patch" is all about, it's likely a PICNIC thing :D (IT term, search it up if you don't know...) I'll be keeping my eye on any expansions and/or follow up entries because it's a good non-lightsabre focused game. Great review Morph, stellar content as always!
@@NorthInium spoken by yet another moron who hasn't touched the game but their favorite rage bait streamers told them to hate it, so they do. Baaaaaa. Good sheep!
The reviews of this game have been on average useless because the side content is where the game really shines. Reviewers have to get through the game so they focus on the main quest mostly as a result The game I’m playing in no way resembles what I’m seeing in reviews This will be another game that ages well and a year later some people will be asking “what was all the hate about”
I'm finding that I am going for the side quests more, and I'm really enjoying them. And you are right--the game I'm playing has been a fun experience, and nothing like the hot mess I saw in other YT reviews. Oh well. I do agree that I wish the game was cheaper, but I used a gift card to knock around $30 bucks off the cost, so that wasn't a big deal for me.
@@MarcMcKenzie-qb6or cool. I’m enjoying that as I meet more specialists and gain more abilities, the combat gets increasingly varied and dynamic Don’t know why so many reviewers are struggling with the stealth. First thing I did was max my rep with Crimson Dawn and got their stealth armor and stealth charm. It’s been no problem
This game is totally worth 18$ for Star Wars fans. Assuming you know you’ll have enough time sit down and beat it over the course of a month. I’m around 25 hrs in and having a blast. They nail the atmosphere.

It was good and got progressively worse. Why are you surprised people said so?
Some people don't seem to see the individual project in this. Trying to create a general negative narrative about Disney, Wokeness, Star Wars and Ubisoft might be another topic, to be viewed disconnected to a single game review imho. Acolyte was really bad, so were the sequels, but we also had Mando and Andor that brought some new light. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I have not yet reached the point of damning every new release related to Star Wars. Some people seem to have reached that level and thats ok too, just shouldn't judge morph or any other Content Creator who is not joining the negative bias and downrates things solely for that. Thanks Morph, I enjoyed watching the review and always appreciated the professionalism of your SC Content that I also see here. It does indeed feel unbiased to me.
While I do believe Disney and Ubisoft have been dropping the ball lately, they do still create some good items. Not every single human being in those companies are bad, they're are still those who want to make good products. And I think we should provide honest feedback, so if something is actually good or decent they know. So hopefully the company takes note, and starts following their example. I don't think being just negative about everything they releases will ever fix their company. Destroy it maybe, but not fix
Ok so be aware that this video is 3 months old... The game has been massively patched to v.1.4 since then.. Its much better and alot of it has been overhauled.. Its really great now... Having a blast
They dont want you to tell us this is bad, its bad because its bad. The stealth mechanics are farcical, the facial animations are somehow worse than Mass Effect Andromeda, the story is bland and generic and the the game offers very little new that you haven't seen in any other Ubisoft game. There's parts of the game where they've clearly cut corners heavily and early access users have been scammed out of their money by Ubisoft breaking their saves and refusing to reimburse them, forcing them to restart the engire game with the day 1 patch. So trying to dismiss this as some sort of uneanred critique is disinegious at best.
May I introduce you to a completely new concept? Whether a story is bad or not has nothing to do with the story, but with the audience. I know, shocking, just look at all those romance novels not everyone likes. Or Star Wars in general. I mean, there are more people in the world not liking Star Wars then there are who like it. Alone based on that, Star Wars in general has to be objectively bad, doesn't it? Or is that maybe just a matter of... personal taste? And is trying to push that as some objective measurement just not ... silly? Like "Oooh, I prefer this fantasy author who writes these fantasy stories over this one who writes different fantasy stories, so I have the better opinion." This year has shown me something. Star Wars fans are.... entitled as f'ck. They are the Karens of the entertainment industry. If they feel something isn't as they want it to be, or someone has a different opinion or likes something they dislike, they go full on hate mode. This fandom cannot be taken seriously. Like damn, this whole debate around Outlaws, and also around Acolyte, is just childishly silly. The only thing missing is people stomping their foot while angrily crying about stuff not being as they want it.
@@VulpesChama Dismissing genuine criticism (none of which you bothered to address) as 'entitlement' and that there is no such thing as a bad story, only a bad audience is quite possibly the most wet noodle response I have ever read. Under your logic then nothing can be criticised, ever. I don't care for whatever petty community drama you seem to be neck deep in, I'm not a Star Wars fan, I'm an open world fan, and this is a poor open world video game. And if it's to your 'personal taste' then I hope you enjoy it, but I'll call it how I see it.
@@Wanderer628 No, it is not a bad audience. It is a story for a different audience. That's the personal thing about it. Whether a story is good or not is completely dependent on the audience. Good/Bad are not objective measurements in this case. This utter desire that something has to have some objective quality is needlessly arrogant and hypocritical. Since there's always more people disliking an entertainment product then there are liking it. In the end, it is entertainment, thus deeply subjective and the only measurement that makes sense is, whether you enjoy it or not. If you don't, it doesn't fit your taste, if it does it does. About the "legitemate criticism". Funny thing about bugs, some have them, some don't. And you only hear about those who have them, because people who don't have don't complain. I might be luckiest person ever, I had a bug-free release version of CP77 on release day. Months without encountering a bug. And now with Outlaw... same. No bugs on my end. About the other stuff, what was the expectation here? Did you think Ubisoft wouldn't make a typical Ubisoft game? Because it is. And that was to be expected. The only valid criticism I have seen so far was the pricing policy. The price to pay for this game is absolutely bongus. But, that doesn't change that the game itself is good. It may or may not be worth the price tag. That's entirely up to the one buying. But there's always a sale up ahead. There's no need to rush buying anything game-related. Especially singleplayers have no need to be day-1 purchases.
This isn't hate, just observation, but I have watched 20 reviews of this game and basically every positive you mentioned the others basically said the exact opposite. So I can't decide what to make of this game. At least you agree that the combat sucks. Luckily for me I already don't support Ubisoft so I wasn't going to buy it anyway.
@@hippoace I have moral standards and this company is pure garbage. I have a ton of games to play and enjoy so it’s not costing me anything. Plus this game does NOT look fun to me. There might be some cool aspects, sure. But the combat looks so bland and boring. Even worse than typical Ubisoft stuff. I’d rather stand on my principals than support a bad company. But your comment didn’t really have anything to do with mine. I was just trying to figure out why the opinion was so opposite most the others. I don’t care one way or the other. I love that people have different opinions and likes. Keeps life interesting and people trying new things. So good attempt but nah.
Honestly, just look up some good gameplay, then you can judge the game yourself, most of the reviewers I’ve watched speaking negatively about the game don’t really seem to fully understand or don’t want to bother with the mechanics. From what I’ve seen though, my main complaint would be the lack of customisation for both your arsenal and your character: there’s a few skins for Kay and you can only run around with your blaster; you can pick up weapons from the enemies but they’re more of a “temporary gun” like it works on Mirror’s Edge and that kinda sucks for me.
@@allopic3764 I’ve watched quite a few streams or reviewers I trust and the world seems cool but the focus on stealth is shallow and combat it shallow I can tell. Watching her one punch a Stormtrooper in his helmet is hilariously bad 😂 The temporary gun thing you mentioned was one of my huge negatives in stuff I’ve watched. It makes your character feel bland and like they’re not progressing. Very very bad design choice.
the lockpicking in this game is vile. Edit: after watching a few videos I've gotten it down a bit but it is still ridiculous. The in-game explanation is atrocious, and utterly insufficient.
If I really suck at stealthy gameplay because I'm a button masher and I'm old and I'm not going to "get good" because my hands are getting worse... can I still have a good time with this? Is the inability to complete stealth-based challenges without just shooting people instead a game-breaker? I just want a good star wars story and entertainingly fun gameplay, nothing to beat my head against. Is this game for casuals?
After all the hate, i waited for couple of updates to fix the game. Definitely worth it, much more pleasant experience being able to fight freely now. This game feels like it had the same launch of cyberpunk . Amazing beautiful immersive world , really good storyline with fun simple twists. With lots of AI bugs... Its now much better. Space combat is awesone much better than starfield . Star wars outlaws is way better than starfield, so give it some credit there. Star wars got slated way too hard and if your star wars die hard old school fan you will love this game. I think my biggest two negatives would be combat on speeders thats just atrocious, doesn't work really in any dimension. More developed different ways to infiltrate a base. Ubisoft need to do what cd project and put the game into little bit more development with a big dlc, it will be amazing
And the crowd goes meh! This game looks terrible based on all reviews I have seen, everyone says environments are great but that's about it, you can't be an outlaw in Star Wars outlaws lol There is a lot of missed potential, you had to do GTA in Star Wars that's it
Thanks for your honest review ! I definitely want to check it out - I was kinda left hanging by yet another "drama". I'll therefore buy it knowing full well what to expect (and not to expect ;) Thanks ! On a side note, I have the feeling that the stuff that feels unfinished has more to do with cost effectiveness than with the ability to meet a deadline... (kinda for the same reason we've seen a decline in CGI quality these pas few years in movies)
Currently playing it. While I don't think the game is bad, it's not great either. It's just really mediocre and seems a bit outdated. I do regret preordering. It's a game you buy when it drops below $15.
10:39 the "slicing" mechanic is impossible to fail. You can simply spam the button until the correct options are all that's left. The game makes it look like you only have so many tries but it generates more slots until you "successful" pick the right combo. It's IMPOSSIBLE to fail smh. Games have gone beyond easy mode at this point...I'm not even bringing up the other plethora of problems with this game which many other comments are sure to fill you in
That said I'm gonna go ahead and give YOU a thumbs up on this video. REALLY don't agree with your views on the game but I'll give you props for doing it and calling out in the end how creators were whined and dined. I honestly thought you were one of them considering this video but at least you brought it up. And the fact you didn't ignore the blatant and disrespectful alterations to the character Kay ves vs. The actual model who is gorgeous. So that said i have respect for your work...kinda think your doubling down in refusal to admit you might have prematurely scored the game highly lol. But who am i to put that on you lol... does Ubisoft have a gun to your head? They have your loved one hostage? Blink once for yes...don't blink at all if no
You can turn off the slicing minigame in the gameplay settings. Then you can just click thru it and get to the objective without having to do the puzzle
i paid for the Ubisoft monthly pass and played Outlaws for 50+hrs. I did not finish the game b/c it isnt any good. If you play video games then you know. The idea that this game is anywhere near to the quality of games that have been released for years is absurd...additionally you need to have $1K+ GPU to get the footage in this video
People getting really hung up on knocking out stormtroopers seems like such a nitpick. Its a video game, guys. You have animations for knocking out dudes because its a stealth based video game. Is the immersion really that broken cuz there's not a separate animation to knock them out? The other solution is to just not have stormtroopers around which i would say is even worse.
yeah no that's not the only solution if you take more than 2 seconds to think about it - with all the gadgets that we pick up, it would have been so easy to come up with a creative takedown (ex. stun shot, grapple takedown, knife through armor gaps, getting Nix to take off helmets, etc.) instead of watching Kay punch plasteel helmets with bare hands (could even have some kinda brass/electrified knuckle situation here) for the hundredth time
Nice review Morph, while I won't be picking up the game as I have long lost interest in the SW universe after the abysmal showing from Disney's ownership. Hopefully they can do a lot more with the series in the future and bring us something truly top tier to re-invigorate the franchise.

Fallout games, for example, even when they were still under the hands of interplay and black isle, always come out as technically broken messes but still manage to capture people's imaginations with its story, world and characters
Even graphical fidelity is subjective, i for one do not mind these graphics, but im sure for others its a deal breaker

It's not a choose your own adventure RPG, it's an open world game with a linear storyline like all the other Star Wars games we've been getting as of late. They wanted to make a Canon character, which precludes any modification, same as Cal Kestis.

The one with the electroshock weapon looks fine but the normal takedown is weird
They are lazy.
It's a bad game with stealth mechanics that are trumped by decades old games like Thief. The fact that a lot of people in the comments are fine with games consistently regressing is just embarrassing.

When compared to games 10 or even 15 years older than this game, those older games blow this game out of the water, the gameplay, mechanics, facial animations, general npc interactiveness, environment interactivity, no swimming, stealth mechanics, just about everything I have comes up as an empty shell of a game, especially one they say is open world. It's easy to have an open world when there's basically nothing in it and nothing reacts or interacts with each other. They really don't expect people to compare it to older games? Why not, older games are always the baseline for new games, just sitting this game apart and only comparing it to itself is pointless.
The best endorsement I've heard is "Doesn't feel like Ubisoft game" :)

@@RayneAngelus I'd love to know why Steam always gets a free pass in these discussions.
@@z-beeblebrox For me, at least? It's privately owned and operated (the only one that is AFAIK), is arguably the best and most consumer friendly CDN and storefront in the industry, and has existed the longest, outlasting their competition. But the privately owned part is a big deal. It means that they're under no legal obligation to extract the most profit possible from the operation.

Man, this is exactly what I've been saying. Smuggling goods and getting in with the huts and really living that scoundrel life. This game finally allows me to live that dream. And yes it has problems and yes it's an Ubisoft game, but it's a damn fun game if you like Star Wars and I've always wanted to be a scoundrel. It's a lot like solo, but a game

Except that gameplay in death stranding is good, and unique, unlike ubisoft and his re-heated watch dog legion gameplay with a star wars skin
@@brkenppt2222 I loved Death Stranding but the fight mechanics against those guys in the camps wasn’t that great, with those oddly ineffectual weapons

That's not a 'potential' this game has, you just want a game of a different genre, a role playing game instead of an action-adventure one.
So you just weren't able to adjust your expectations. Got it.

Not saying that will happen here, but 10 hours in I don’t get the hate.
This👆
just like no mans sky haha, owned from day one and loved it then, but love it even more now!

The Empire in current Star Wars is a little too Sidious and not enough Palpatine.

the corruption is due to the game being based in the outer rim
@@mluby7828 Comedically evil vs something with a bit more subtlety. I was more commenting on Disney’s current approach.

I'd say the thumbnail already made the creator's opinion clear even without watching the video. Which I haven't and won't.
Really enjoyed the game at launch and it’s only getting better. A great Star Wars experience for anyone who still enjoys such things.
I still want a Star Wars pod racing game that sort of like Redline
I played so much pod racer back in the day. Had it on Dreamcast. I'd love a new one.
@Morph..... did you stream any of this or looking to one you get that extra add-ons? I'd be down to watch👍
Yeah, I've got a twitch account where I've streamed it for the last two streaming days. www.twitch.tv/morphologis
Agreed. Although I don't mind the stealth stuff (mostly) thanks to the years of playing METAL GEAR SOLID 🤣.
@@MarcMcKenzie-qb6or I liked the stealth in MGS. I’m enjoying the stealth more in Outlaws the farther I get into the game.
Been watching you long enough to trust your reviews - but I couldn't have any LESS trust for IGN.
Why would you have to apologize to people for saying you like this game?
Game visually looks amazing, but gameplay is what carries a game, and the combat and stealth look absolutely terrible. Hard pass.
guess im gonna buy it and you cannot stop me! LOL
Why anyone would play this slop is beyond me.
To think they tried to get gamers to pay £120 for this game is just outright comedy gold.
What do you mean HZD is cookie cutter? Combat is very mechanically deep, and on higher difficulty you *have* to play a tactical long game.
@@Morphologis I definitely can relate haha, I’ll be trying out Outlaws because of your review 🤙🏼
Wow actually a video with constructive criticism about outlaws. Well done dude, great vid:)
It's pretty hard to mess up the visuals of star wars. This is the bare minimum. And it's all they got right
Yes, it's a decent game.
The graphics are beautiful
The atmosphere of locations are spot on
The gameplay (whilst i've only experienced a couple of bugs, no biggie as EVERY game has them) emphasises stealth but most games do anyway and it's kinda more fun than just holding LMB to blast everything all the time
The reputation system is very well done to the point where i've reloaded saves to see what the gain/loss is like and changed my option more than a couple of times
The side quests are just as well done as the main story
The easter eggs you come across put a smile on my face everytime
I downloaded the game with low expectations and hadn't seen any media on it aside from the reveal trailer and i think that's how people show go into a game, not just Outlaws.
I'd like a few more named characters to be male where it makes sense, having a majority of the people you connect with be female kind of pulled me out of the interactions but it's something i've moved past and realised it honestly doesn't matter.
Not sure what this "Ubisoft buggered up early access saves with the day 1 patch" is all about, it's likely a PICNIC thing :D (IT term, search it up if you don't know...)
I'll be keeping my eye on any expansions and/or follow up entries because it's a good non-lightsabre focused game.
Great review Morph, stellar content as always!

totally agree!
The reviews of this game have been on average useless because the side content is where the game really shines. Reviewers have to get through the game so they focus on the main quest mostly as a result
The game I’m playing in no way resembles what I’m seeing in reviews
This will be another game that ages well and a year later some people will be asking “what was all the hate about”
I'm finding that I am going for the side quests more, and I'm really enjoying them.
I’m enjoying that as I meet more specialists and gain more abilities, the combat gets increasingly varied and dynamic
Don’t know why so many reviewers are struggling with the stealth.

Destroy it maybe, but not fix
the stealth takedown animation when she hits their helmets is already too much for me. no thanks
I can't stand looking at the main character knowing they made her as fugly as they could. The actress herself is beautiful, her character not so much.
And is trying to push that as some objective measurement just not ... silly? Like "Oooh, I prefer this fantasy author who writes these fantasy stories over this one who writes different fantasy stories, so I have the better opinion."
This year has shown me something.
@@Wanderer628as a Star Wars fan, I agree with you there.
Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining(as I know you are being bribed by Ubisoft to whitewash this turd.)

Watching her one punch a Stormtrooper in his helmet is hilariously bad 😂
The temporary gun thing you mentioned was one of my huge negatives in stuff I’ve watched. It makes your character feel bland and like they’re not progressing. Very very bad design choice.
Thanks for a balanced and honest review. I look forward to playing it when it’s finished and free on the epic game store.
the lockpicking in this game is vile.

Please do an architect reviews, on the different locations in the game!! That would be so good!
This game looks terrible based on all reviews I have seen, everyone says environments are great but that's about it, you can't be an outlaw in Star Wars outlaws lol
There is a lot of missed potential, you had to do GTA in Star Wars that's it
Thanks for your honest review !
Too many bugs.... too many woke contents...so, no thanks! Better get a burrito 🌯
I'm about 40 hours in and loving the game. In the future will be seen as an underated gem.
Which epidemic track did you use? The music in the first part is nice.
i paid for the Ubisoft monthly pass and played Outlaws for 50+hrs.
