I will be running the Amsterdam Marathon in 5 weeks (aiming at 3:05 +/- 5 minutes) and planning to work on my 5K over winter for the reasons you have given!
Where I'm from, we measure distance in kilometers. So when miles are brought up, I always have to pause the video to make some calculations haha! Or that's the part where I zone out. Would it be silly if you were to insert kilometer counterpart on the video or on the description?
I love marathons, but can't say no to a nice 5/10k run. I'm training for Oslo 2025 marathon, aiming to get my time down from 5:27:14 (Oslo 2023) to 3hrs. I've also just started focusing on my 5 and 10k times for these reasons! There's no point training longer distances if you want to improve speed (and speed endurance) quickly
Hey Liz! Thanks for video and your thoughts. This year i train only for shot distanes (not more the 10k, mainly, 1500, 3, 5k), Last year I run my 3rd marathon 3h 3m and I understood - need to increase my VDOT There is a straight correlation between 5k and marathon - if you are able to run at your VO2 max for 5k so it shows your speed if you run 10 at your threshold, that will give endurance. 💪💪💪 in total - 5+10= gives speed, endurance which you are going to need after 30k on marathon, running 20k and more is good for your aerobic running 30-37k helps your mentally be prepared for difficulties during last 10k of marathon Recently I ran 5k 18.04 so I'm going to make sub 17.30🤩🤩🤩 All the best from Russia 😃😃
did my 4th marathon and decided to go for sub 20 5k, the time is a huge difference when it comes to training. With a toddler I have to be home more often and can't imagine being gone again for hours at a time.

I can absolutely put things out in kilometres alongside miles!

Could you do a video/talk about how you balance leg days with running workouts? I want to build strength but my legs tell me no when I do both
Haha I actually just had this realisation today that I need to move my leg day from intervals day to tempo day 😮💨
The Lyss Method/Doc Lyss Fitness specializes in this! I’d check those programs out.

Amazing and so true especially for anyone that has kids! But a great focus!
Why not sprints on the track and sprinting up stairs and wieghted stair climbs ? In one work out session, thats what we did in high-school
