*Important note* on checking the oil level. Here's what the manual says: _"Install dipstick in tube but do not tighten. Allow dipstick threads to rest on top of tube and rotate cap counterclockwise until it 'clicks' or drops into place."_
Credit goes to *OTNimble* for bringing this to my attention.
You did a really nice job with this , addressed every important detail in an efficient manner
Big thanks from Portugal. Clear & concise video, really like the form-a-funnel - very handy indeed. Also glad to see a machine just as dusty as mine!
Glad it was helpful!
I was going to bring my tractor in for an oil change, but this great video just shows that it's so easy I can do it myself! Thank you! 🔧
Thank you so much for this video. I bought mine used and no manual...... Watched this several times, went up to the barn changed the oil, plus the air filter and shew wee my little tractor starts right up and purrs!!!! Was well past dew! Rebecca
You're welcome. Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! Your video helped me and my son get the mower ready for spring!
Fantastic! Glad I could help.
Thanks Chris, this was super helpful (and saved me a service call and $$)
You make great content!
Nice video. Well done. Thanks for producing it.
You got it!
Great video. Thank you for all of you hard work.
Thanks for watching!
Good video, man. Thanks!
very helpful, thank you!
Solid video with one exception. You’re actually not supposed to screw the dipstick in when checking the oil level on these models.
Thanks for your note. Here's what the manual says - "Install dipstick in tube but do not tighten. Allow dipstick threads to rest on top of tube and rotate cap counterclockwise until it 'clicks' or drops into place."
If it says counterclockwise you are not screwing the dipstick in. You are looking for the start of the threads
Even the flexible funnel is John Deere green. I like your style.
😂 Thanks!
Did David Lynch do your sound design? Great video.
what is the model of the oil filer wrench.... mine is frozen on !!!
Nice video. Thanks. I just got my X350. The decks are green now :)
The only thing I would do in addition is wipe off the dipstick cap and the tube some in order to remove some of the dirt to lessen the chances of dirt getting into the engine. Probably not needed but that is just how I roll.
Brian
great video.......do you have a link to the green sleeve that directs the oil when draining...pretty slick ...thanks
Yeah, it's super convenient. Here's the link: amzn.to/49q3GCq
Christopher, did you just get the oil and filter, and not the air filter, fuel filter, and 2 spark plugs? if not, that is a good price for oil and filter. thanks for the video!
It was only an oil change video.
The link you posted for the John Deere kit (oil, oil filter etc. ) states all the models it’s compatible with. Sadly, the x350 isn’t listed. Every other model is. Is that an oversight? Can this kit be used on the x350?
The link is correct. I personally used it for this video, and you can see the x350 listed in the answered questions. They also list the engine type which you can cross check.
How did you get your tractor to run without being seated on the tractor? All of my other John Deere had a shut off switch when you dismounted the machine.
I have the same sensor on my seat, but the tractor ignores it if the parking brake is on.
@@chrisdungeon I will have to remember to try that. I just put my machine away for the winter.
What’s the story about the BMW in your garage? Thank you so much 😊
Hi, that's my 1989 BMW 325iS, better known as the E30 chassis. Haven't driven it since 2010. Really need to work on it or sell it. So hard to decide!
mypcblewup Thank you so much for sharing this information and I hope that you make the best decision for your situation.
Appreciate that! I think I'm going to start listing some of the extra parts I have for it on craigslist. Engines, transmissions, etc.
How soon should I change my oil on my 2020 X350? Thanks
Once per year or every 50 hours. Whichever comes first.
@@chrisdungeon thanks, just changed it today and I changed the fuel filter also, thanks again for your help.
I just bought this mower with 21.5HP Kawasaki engine. JD dealership told me to change the oil and filter after 6-8 hours, then follow normal guidelines for the life of the engine. That’s actually a pretty standard recommendation for brand new engines.
For a performance engine, sure... but not for one in a lawn tractor. Pretty standard recommendation from a dealership trying to milk you for unnecessary maintenance.
The amazon "kit" includes 2 quarts of oil, but the manual says it requires 2.2 quarts of oil...
Negative. X350 oil capacity is 1.8 quarts
@@chrisdungeon Are you sure that's right? According to the manual, I'm looking at it right here - "crankcase with oil filter (x350, x354, x370, x380, x384, x390, x394) - 2.1L (2.2qt)".
💯
I’m going to stick with 2.2 quarts and add more if necessary just to be safe. The dealer told me 2.2 qts and so did the manual. Thanks for the video. It’ was very helpful to see it done.
So 10w30 Oil is used not 30HD
