I wear my pearls almost everyday. Recently broke them. I purchased silk string for repair. I needed a tutorial before getting started. Especially with the notting. Thank you. 😊
I repaired or restrung my freshwater pearl necklace by following your instruction. Very pleased with the result. Thank you for your easy to follow tutorial.
Thank you for this. I have a broken pearl necklace that I’ve been needing repairs for almost a decade. My husband broke it, it is the most beautiful deep purple but was advertised as black Pearl. My husband promised to get it repaired but instead bought me a replacement white Pearl necklace. Now I can do my own repairs and wear both sets.
Excellent. This is not a bad job when taking your time and paying attention to details. Good luck in returning to enjoying your beautiful pearl necklace.
French wire makes a big difference on protecting the silk thread. With that you would be able to thread on pearls using the needle. Bypassing the super glue. 👍🏼
Thank You David for this video. I am ordering the silk string on Amazon and repair my black & white Pearls myself. I can't replace this string of Pearls so I have to repair because they are so Beautiful. Thank you for this Tutorial, my dear
Thank you for your clear instructions. I just finished making a necklace and appreciated your tutorial. I put the silk thread quickly over steamy water to get the bends out, it works like magic.
You should always use French wire on the thread where it goes through the clasp. It prevents wear on the thread. French wire is hollow and very flexible.
Why don't you thread all the pearls onto the cord using the needle, and then add the clasp, but knot the other end of the cord so the beads won't fall off? That way you don't have to bother using glue to make the other end of the cord stiff?

@@A_Renaissance_Man thank you David. I have just ordered the silk thread from Amazon. Now I’m wondering why I didn’t do this years ago.

Thank you very much for that tip.
Oh no😨 my necklace will be forever broken. My a.d.d will not allow this 😒

Thank you for asking. The video shows the way I was taught. The glue at the end is more to hide any fraying then to secure the knot.
And that way, should the thread ever break again *all* of the pearls can be lost as they all fall off the silk!
