do you have a part number for the best gasket material for a cylinder base gasket of 3/64 in thick. It is an old 2-stroke cylinder. Thanks

I have a 2006 Town & Country that I had to remove the heads because it overheated. I noticed that Chrysler did not use a manifold gasket and it was metal to metal. I bought gaskets as these are not new any more and was wondering if the gaskets would burn out which is why they went metal to metal.

Marc Smith Believe it or not some manifolds are made to be metal to metal no gasket. Mainly older cars though. Anything 90’s and up should have manifold gaskets.

I finally got around to what I thought was replacing a bad exhaust manifold gasket on my '02 dakota 3.9L, only to find out that there were no gasket installed from the factory. Metal to metal, that's it. On further research I learned that is how Dodge did it on V6 and V8 engines. What the hell!!! Could this be why they are notorious for broken exhaust manifold bolts. I completed the job with a set of FelPro gaskets.

That is interesting I had never heard of them doing this. Was there silicone ? That is what I use. To hell with manifold/header gaskets. Just make sure you have a generous amount. 16psi and hasn't had a problem in almost two years.

That is what I need. I got a 2008 gmc sierra, 4.8L with two broken exhaust bolts on the back toward the wall on the driver side. It is very loud. I got original, thin, cheap, all steel gaskets. I should of replaced them with Felpro gaskets 10 years ago. It is easy to remove the 4 remaining bolts and slide the exhaust manifold away from the block and install the felpros.

@@Bart12349 Being that your exhaust has been leaking, there likely is rust, carbon and possibly some pitting on the head and manifold surfaces. Consider taking the manifold off and give a good cleaning with some emery paper to the surfaces to insure you get a good seal. That's what I did to mine.

Fell-Pro made a point NOT to show you close-up of cross section of their "proprietary" gasket, for that I'm staying away.

@@KollynJ My biggest issue was finding a header gasket that fit the ports properly, some were small circles some bigger circles some rectangular in nature. when I got the one that I thought fit correctly it was a no brand conventional material and my problem was solved. (Gaskets were 20 yrs old) . It ticks me off when someone claims "proprietary" and leaves it at that.
