I’ve worked for Transco out of TX when they were in PA couple yrs ago. They had contracts with Chesapeake Energy. We hauled water and take it to where they are set up or pump it in the pond or containers. Did that for 2 yrs. Good money. We worked 7 days a wk 6am to 6pm. Long hrs.
Hey now, must have missed when you got this gig. Congratulations 🎉 glad to see your back on the $$ and not working 20 hr days . Great news, hopefully this outfit will keep you on . I know you had some setbacks this year. Good luck 🍀 brother ❤
I am a sand hauler, and I average about the same gross you make, sometimes less and sometimes more, but with much more liability, responsibility, and downside. Under current rates, being an employee like you is better than being an owner-operator. $2,500 net with the company paying part of the taxes, some benefits, and being able to sleep is better than what I am doing. I will get my Hazmat and Tank; I already have a TWIC Card.
It’s rough right now, but definitely less stress as a company driver. Having 10hrs of rest everyday and still being able to net 2500 is great. I would net over 3k hauling water but I had to put in 130 hours a week to do that.
@@castanovayt nitrogen, propane diesel fuel, hydrochloric acid is where the money is right now. Just watch the idiots around you, and you will be okay.
@@WeroLocoTruckingcan you still make that much? Seeing non English speakers doing that in the Permian so I'm assuming employers are trying to pay less for labor
Dude thank you so much for this post!!! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...finally!!! P.S. Do most of the trucks have automatic or manual transmissions!!
Looking at your paystub, the one thing that would irk me is the holiday pay at 8 hours. When was the last time you worked an eight -hour shift?? We had this issue at a previous employer. Our vacation pay configured the same way, hourly pay times 40 hours. At that level, the difference between a paid vacation week and a paid work week was really dramatic. We complained to management that we were losing money by taking time off. We eventually convinced our company to pay for holidays and weeks off at the same rate as a fully worked workweek.
Glad to see you got a good gig. I'm about to quit my local job to run my old paid for volvo. Gonna get me own authority, even though most say I'm stupid to do that. If she shiits the bed soon, I'll be in the patch myself.
Hey Robert! Good to see another video. I know the companies that haul that CNG, matter of fact I see them all the time at the Apache fracs we haul fuel to. That’s awesome though, glad all is back to normal. Are you out of Odessa?
Thanks man! Yeah it’s been nice to get back to some normalcy! CNG is a super laid back job, I’ve been doing 2 loads a night and sometimes 3 depending on the Frac crews. I’m actually running out of Pecos, it’s a little closer to home.
I think I heard you say you'd been in the millitary. Who do you think is disrespected and mistreated more, junior enlisted man or OTR mega carrier reefer driver?
I think we live in a time where everyone is disrespectful, seems like everyone is to quick to put each other down. We had camaraderie in the military, we bust balls but it’s known that everyone is needed outside the wire. The trucking industry is a whole other beast.
Currently at a mega carrier, lease purchase… (I know). And my 1 year of driving experience is coming up. I have hazmat, tanker, combination and Twic card. But I don’t know where to start. Been hearing around that it would be a good idea to look into the oilfield. But Idk where to start. I guess there are a bunch of different things to haul there? Like sand, water and oil. Of course anyone can search on indeed. But as mentioned in this video. I’ve heard a lot of companies will force you to run illegally. Wouldn’t be an issue for me since I still have a young man’s energy. But I come across some people that say that they left the oilfield. For being underpaid like $900 net weekly. Is there any companies mid cap or even mega sized companies out there? I was also looking into pneumatics too.
I have 10+ years in the oilfields and have worked all over the US. If you're not afraid of doing physical work look into coil tubing, frack, or wireline. All pay different but usually have a 14/7, 14/14 or 20/10 schedule. With jobs like that you will work 14-16 hours a day operating equipment and rigging in equipment. Some companies offer travel pay and housing if you live out of town. I will tell you that North dakota pays better than all other fields in the US.
Hey brother, I am very interested in going into this industry. I plan to pay for own CDL, I have no experience but I am seeking to get in! Please advise!

My husband recently left California to west Texas to word as a sand hauler I was reading his paperwork and it says 30 % of gross compensation is he getting that or is the company taking that he is 1099.. thank you
Obviously, I don’t have what you’re looking at in front of me but if it is noted as “30% of gross,” that’s the pay rate. This guy in this video is being paid by the hour (per hour/hourly rate).
Yeah these guys do a physical but it’s not bad. Heel raises, 5 air squats, able to lift 40lbs from the ground, climb a ladder and basic physical examination.
I seen your old video saying you make 4k a week was that a different company and was it because the exemption time in tx ?What if you wanted to run over the hours is it still ignored somewhat or they are cracking down on it. also are they taking new drivers who got their cdl (not your company just in general) .. I got mines purposely to get into the oil field for that overtime and work…. And last question is this as an owner operator or company? Hopefully you can get back to be if not no biggie
Yeah I made more hauling water but I had to put in way more hours! Even still I’d gross 4K a week and take home around 3200. This new job I can gross close to 3400 and take home 2500 and that is fine with me! I believe some Frac and cement companies hire with a new CDL, just start applying everywhere.
The Oilfield exemption only legally requires 24hr reset per DOT, 14•6=84. It is possible, I’m usually maxed out of hours by day 5, reset day 6, then back to work on day 7.
We do 24 hour reset in the oilfield, then my last day of the week runs partially into next week which is still paid on same check, since I work nights. Also paid half hour everyday for driving to and from yard. Science!
How do they not have to follow the 36 hour reset like the rest of the country? I’ll have to tell that to the dot next time. I only get to work 70 a week
