@Lav I actually ended up buying a Dell Precision Mobile Workstation Laptop because I'm planning on doing design as my graduation. It's got a 4GB DDR5 RAM Quadro GPU. Works quite well for playing most games. It does heat up a lot while playing graphics heavy games like warzone
Same, my old pc is 8 years old and runs like garbage, my parents are in complete agony whenever I turn the computer on, because of the noise and squeaky noise that come from the cpu and everything else

I wasn't specifically thinking about this laptop in particular. Although, I actually think it's a good deal if I were looking for one. Just thought Dave made a good point here. As consumers, we try to make the smartest decision when we purchase our goods and services. At least, I hope so.

I got this laptop today and this is a beast. Thermals don't matter to me cause I don't game for too long and I don't care about the build quality. Great display which extremely color accurate and overall a fantastic device

@@2eewoihwuef671 I doubt they sign a long term contract though, they most likely can if they really want to but AMD still got a lot of unknown factors - but more than likely they just didn't expect AMD to perform as well as they were this year, Laptop takes time to develop at the earliest it will be at year end before they can ship out some other models of their existing device with AMD chip

The consumers will be the last one to notice when a processor or laptop is better than other ones since the laptop has to be released before by the manufacturer. Because DVD players were most surely around in the 90's lol. I was born 1999, and even 4-5 we still used VHS. Maybe because my family was poor or maybe not. But I don't feel like DVD players were a thing back then.

I actually had a similar line of thought. And then I realized, I have shelled out $800 for a phone before on the grounds that I get tons of use out of it and it’s a device I “need”. I don’t really hem and haw over spending so much on a phone because I know I want and “need” the better quality and general longevity. On the other hand, I realized that I cheaped out buying a $300 Lenovo laptop that I “needed” for work, as well as personal use (photo editing, a bit of gaming, and then work). Now I’m spending a bit more on everything for the same reasons I do on my phone - more capable, usage experience, greater longevity (i.e. the quality of parts, as well as how long it will remain a capable computer as programs and things continue to expand and upgrade).
I really feel like some manufacturers are making AMD based products less appealing (cheap materials or/and bad looks) than the competition on purpose...

they probably feel the need to go even cheaper because people might not choose an AMD cpu over an Intel one for a 100-150 bucks. I am not saying It's inferior infact I haven't kept up with computer hardware for the last 5-6 years but I don't feel good with AMD for some reason

i have owned a dell g3 3590 for the past 6 months(it has the same design as this) and the hinge gears grinded up the screws leaving me with essentially a desktop computer because im too scared to move around with it or close the screen or else it might fall off. I love the internals of this new version but the design is a huge deal breaker for me

Thanks Dave! Because of your review, I bought one. Love it! It had an overheat issue (hardware failure), so it was returned for repair. Even with that, I still love it. It's a great device and now I'm just waiting for it to be returned. I'm now a subscriber! Keep it up!
UPDATE: Device overheated. Playing CS:GO. Stop code error message. Sent back to Dell. After repair (fan and heatsink), it over heated again. Same stop code. Returned for refund. Probably a one off issue. IDK.

@@shinigami6602 in case you don't already know, his laptop is now probably out of warranty and Dell won't repair it without asking for a ton of money. (there is a subreddit to solve the heating issues this laptop has, yes I own it too) its not a laptop you can use without extreme care about the heat, although once you solve the heat problem, its a powerhouse, it even has huge overclocking potential (requires custom cooling, can't be done by a simple user) and double the already great performance.
@@SalahEO I hope you haven't bought it already (I am a dell G5 SE user) this laptop requires you to attend to the overheating problem (there is a subreddit for controlling its heat, its name is r/dellg5se) if you have what it takes, this laptop will provide you with great gaming capabilities, but if you are just a normal user, do yourself a favour and buy something else.

Wait how long? Amd certainly has the best laptop cpus right now, but their tech isn’t being utilized to its fullest. Next year oems will take AMD seriously and put more effort into their AMD laptops for a good price. The G14 isn’t that great of a price but it’s still better than almost anything Intel offers.

I recently got it. It is awesome. I can play all games at 1080p high to ultra settings. To me build quality looks good. I have paired it with a good coolpad and easily cap temperature at 85 degree Celsius using Ryzen controller. Although I wanted Omen but its proce skyrocketed in my region for some reason so got this instead. Not disappointed at all.

I've watched your reviews and also read reviews on Lenovo y 540, ASUS ROG Strix G15 and Dell g5 se. which of the 3 would you pick if you're using it only for trading and not gaming. I read reviews on trading laptops, and they suggested to buy a gaming laptop because it was more powerful and can handle many charts and graphics. Your opinion is much appreciated, keep up the great work
All are pretty solid with similar specs. It comes down to personal preference.
Finally, AMD taking over the entire mobile segment aswell.
Hopefully this means there will be a igpu competition to improve both sides to a MX250 level.
The new Vega 8 GPU is already giving the MX350 a run for its money.

It won't generate any heat, and it will literally make a vivid imagination in your mind, with frame rate of what you desire. I just want a laptop to use for everything and could survive for a few years. I also want to play games from time to time, but I probably won't be using it for bigger games if I got it.
Hey Dave, can you explain more on why you think thunderbolt is less valuable? Does that apply to only gaming laptops? Is it because you can still benefit from most peripherals (excluding eGPU) with regular usb, and perhaps at a more affordable price since thunderbolt accessories tend to be more expensive?

Finally an AMD CPU/GPU laptop. I was wondering why there were so many laptops with AMD CPUs paired with Nvidia GPUs when the highest level of optimization can be achieved when both, CPU and GPU come from the same manufacturer.

Let start with the Dell G5 SE 4800H cheap panel is straight up hot garbage their ms response time sit around 25 ms thus is unacceptable for CoD WZ, we need close to 5 ms. 🤬
Video and Photoshop creators mostly need their Adobe apps roughly at 96 sRBG - ntsc gamut this OEM is horrible and the brightness well there is none. Dell G5 SE 4800H panel stand at the 56 sRBG... we call that an action lawsuit.
There's no work around abilities with this Dell unit seeing the lag performance is stagnating and it might explain why we don't have a e - GPU capability of no high performance secondaries sRBG 96-100 screen set up.
The major issues with the dynamic air flow circulation. Somehow the Dell engineers had miss stepped their main chips cooling solution and reach pass the height of 104 c.
Smartshit as of right now is more like an hack job gimmick than a leading -edge of advance technologies. 🤬

But honestly don’t buy windows laptops, when you are poor, windows gaming laptops are the last thing you want to buy, cuz laptops nowadays are mostly not upgradable and when one component breaks, the whole computer can turn into a piece of metal trash. Great Review...again! See Dave as far as I know, intel has like all rights when it comes to TB3. So i would not expect any AMD device to get thunderbolt support. Even if intel would surprisingly sell licenses to OEMs with amd devices, they would for sure charge so much money, that OEMs wouldn't include it to keep cost down.
I think the design of this laptop is pretty much similar with the first Alienware m15 model released in 2018. They share similarity in panel and even in the PCB design. And they are both amazing gaming laptop from Dell.
I am confused can you advice me. I want to buy this for the value for money thing, but the aesthetics and the build severely repel me, I am worried that since there is an evident lack if effort in the design thinking of this machine, it would suffer in long run. I am considering the strix g with "1650ti". Would it be good enough? My prime purpose is, multitasking, 3d, 2d, premiere, ps, and gaming sometimes. Which should I go for?
Any recommendation for a good gaming laptop that have a good temp management? Mine always heat up at 99c despite undervolt and using a fan cooler. Sudden fps drop while gaming is the worst for me especially during a teamfight e.g apex legend T_T
the asus nitro is really good because of its AMD ryzen cpu and gtx 1650. It has good temperatures and comes with an additional memory slot and a space for extra internal hdd or ssd(also comes with hdd connector). its only 669

But as a person who cares about aesthetic, I would pay more for better looking laptop. If you don't care, then congratulation, this is for you and it is totally worth it.

No Intel do not have anything on amd atm. Unless you compare cpu's that consume 200w+ to 95w ofc. Intel is stuck and have been stuck for years now, and they will begoing to 7nm in 2023 as it looks now... And by that time will amd be on 5nm+ and Intel do not Even have their new achiteture layout done yet, all the good engeneers are leaving Intel because of a rotten company culture, which intel's Leaders at intel can take the Credit for.
The only cpu from Intel that is ok'ish is the 10600k and that is for gaming. Only. But People use their pc's for alot other things than gaming these days. Every other Intel cpu are either extreamly expencive and power/heat drain og allso to expencive but underperforming, compared to amd. And if you have Any doubt about if What im saying is right, just take a Quick look at the stock marked😉 and then start reading up on the situation.
