Intro to Swing Fiddle - Sweet Sue

Step by step lesson in swing / early jazz fiddle excerpt from Austin's "Bluegrass, Country, and Roots School"
Step 1: Listen to a vocal version to find the simple melody
Step 2: Find the key from the last note of the song
Step 3: Prime the fingers with the pentatonic scale associated with the key
Step 4: Learn the Vocal melody in Sections, recognize the AABA form
Step 5: Improvise on the melody by pushing the phrases back later
Step 6: Leave the melody using home pentatonic scale to start, then incorporate knowledge of chords when you feel ready
Additional tips
-Improve your rhythmic language and phrasing by repeating back common melodic rhythms
