    This is awesome, Austin! Thank you so much. I am a classical violinist just trying to learn to play bluegrass. This video is so helpful! For me the hardest part on the shuffles and bow patterns is getting them to sound bluegrass vs classical. It's in where the accents lie and that's hard for me. Any suggestions on getting those accents to sound more natural? Can't wait to work with more of your videos1

    I started off ok, but after 4 minutes it was waaay too hard. Maybe you didn't need to vary the note order so quickly. Without music to follow that made it very tricky

    Hey, thanks for this. A great rhythm guitarist I play with insists that the loud note is the boom and the soft note is the chuck to make room for the mandolin chop on the off beat. What do you think?

    Absolutely love your videos, Austin. My favourite part is the call and response. I never know what to do on my own, and being able to mimic you is not only training my ear to know where my fingers are going, but it's giving me the much needed ideas on how to play around with the scales. Love it.

    Thanks Austin, so helpful. Question: what's the best way to memorize those patterns for a jam? Lets say the song is Your Love is like a Flower in A. Right now, I go kinda blank after I play the melody.....because I can't recall fast enough the shapes for each chord. Suggestions? thank :-)

    • @AustinScelzo
      @AustinScelzo 2 місяці тому

      Sure! There are only 4 ways to play this pattern, starting on each finger. I have them written out here in order of difficulty- www.austinscelzo.com/sheetmusic (non-traditional notation is to come...) It will take some practice though. I suggest practicing in keys that allow you to work on these symmetrically - (using the same finger pattern for the 1, 4 and 5 chord) Those would be the keys of D, E, F, and G. If this doesn't make sense- consider dropping in on my weekly fiddle zooms- this is what we work on together! Austinscelzo.com/bluegrass
