They are still around with a different bassist (Rina Hoshino) and drummer (Mimi, real name Kawakami Mayumi).
Juna Serita (the bassist on this track) sometimes plays some sax as a guest during their shows.
I have watched a couple of their livestreamed shows that they did last year and this year. The new bassist and drummer are also really good.
They have also played with other sax players and even a shamisen player during some songs. I believe they did a full free live concert on youtube titled "TGJ all stars UA-cam special gig", but I actually haven't completely watched that one yet. I do recognize this sax player though, that's Harumo Imai. She has played with them before and has played on the solo albums by this bassist Juna Serita.
I also bought one of Harumo Imai's solo albums and that's quite good as well if you ware more into jazz.
This bassist Juna Serita is also in the jazz groups "The Jazz Avengers" (really worth checking out) and jazz-fusion band "Muses" as well as in blues groups "Addone" and "Shoka Okubo Blues Project" which are more guitar driven obviously and might be up your alley. Shoka Okubo is a great blues guitar player. Juna Serita's solo albums are mainly funk, and are also good, although it looks like she is trying to play more jazz as well nowadays. She also plays a bit of upright bass and sax.

Nice one, cheers for the low-down! This with a shamisen player sounds like it could be incredibly cool

There is actually a Jazz-Fusion project that uses a couple of traditional instruments called "坐音 ZAON". They don't havea shamisen, but they do have a koto (the lying down harp that WagakkiBand also uses) and a shakuhachi (the flute that WagakkiBand also uses) next to a drummer, bassist, keyboard player and sax player. They also have some guests in some songs that play a taiko (traditional drums) for example. It actually works really well.
I got into a lot of these because Senri Kawaguchi (the drummer) is one of my favourite drummers and because of her and The Jazz Avengers I got way more into the Japanese Jazz rabbit hole and finding interesting bands like the Tokyo Groove Jyoshi as well.

Cool!. TGJ is a beautiful funk project. A number of artist have entered and left the band in different compositions and most of them have solo projects. This is something that seems very common in Japan where people have no qualms about collaborating and working on different projects in parallel. Thank you Jack. Marvelous lesson.

Thanks for the mention/blame passing! I think they might still be around but I know the bassist and drummer moved on to solo projects and have been replaced. That keyboard sound reminded me a lot of Ray Manzanek's playing - perhaps on something like LA Woman. At 3:00, I think you disproved your claim to be a "humble six string twanger" by basically playing bass, rhythm and lead all at once! You looked like you were enjoying jamming along! Jazz was the major genre of Western music that took off in Japan and was a big part of the music scene for many decades - still is! Though, obviously, I'm glad that Metal and Rock took off there in the 90's too - otherwise there'd be no Band-Maid! Got my DVD of their January concert a couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying their 26 song, 2 hours+ set every day since!

Haha, only praise, no blame here!!!
Lmao, my bass is just a guitar with one less string! That's really interest, I was watching a Marty Friedman inter view (it might have been on Rick Beato's channel) and he was talking about how Japanese top 10 songs tend to have fairly complex, or long chord progressions. So it tracks that jazz would be embraced in a similar sort of way? Nice one, can't beat a good live music DVD!
