These are very accurate Kevin . I am just in the process of leaving Desktop support after 3 years and moving to a security team elsewhere . Checked off all these key points and scenarios you spoke about . Awesome video .
Nice work Mike. Congratulations on the new role.
Very good points, also the lack of training and then they expect you to tackle something you know nothing about, which leads to stress and frustration. I landed my first IT job role like 2 months ago doing IS service desk (basically a call agent) for large hospitals, it can get stressful sometimes when dealing with things your aren’t familiar with. But we do have knowledge base articles for how things work in our company and how to go about it, and also a group chat team which is helpful, but I basically have to self teach myself reading those articles and there’s a lot of them! Which can be overwhelming! And also the pay rate really sucks, but it is my first IT job which I’m thankful for because is something I wanted to do and hopefully it can lead to better roles in the future, I’m doing it for the experience and because I need a job, can’t really complain.
What’s your pay rate with your job?
I left IT after 20 years to get into a new industry. I was tired of being expected to work magic, be a punchbag for angry employees, and work out of hours and weekends. I still love computers but support for me was a thankless job.
What field did you transition to?
Very accurate Man nice Video, I can add to this the lack of training and pushing people to deal with issues they don't have any idea how it's work or fix can create chaos leading to stress then Quit the job.
Thanks.Yep. Lack of training is very painful.
Ive been doing what is called today quiet quitting for over 20 years due to some of the reasons Kevin talk about in the video. Ive been able to buy a house, cars and stuff but professionally Im completely stuck and burned out. This is the reason Im trying to get into IT. I should have done it years ago.
IT a good opportunity to learn and grow. Just need to find the right company.
everything is spot on! toxic environment made me leave my previous job and it also affected my personal life as well. I think no matter how much you love what you're doing, if you're in a bad environment, it will just drain you.
Yep. That's how it is in some environments unfortunately.
Just got moved from a PC tech job to a Mainframe Tech specialist (Endevor) job.
For the longest time I've been in a rut thinking I'm a dud in IT. However, since I've been lurking among your channel, I've felt inspired to try out new technologies. I haven't felt novelty towards technology for some time but I've been enjoying it like when I was a kid.
Not only so you teach, you also inspire a community among tech folk. 😁✌🏾
Thanks John.
Wow I heard of some of these. You made some good points. Quiet firing now i know thanks!
For my previous position, I was a system support apprentice at a company and the only thing I did was image laptops and prepare them for users. I was not allowed to do tickets. I finished all the laptops and for about 3 months I sat there and did nothing. I am now starting my first help desk level 1 position in about a week. I am excited but nervous at the same time. I appreciate your videos. They are super helpful!
Nice work Kyle. Good luck on the new role.
Bro you’re so right
IT Support baby!!
My job is all of these.
It’s naturally to progress from support role. Once you resolve
The same outlook issue so many times..it’s get too old lol. It’s all money, job advancement and you don’t want to be stuck in support role forever!
My manager would come at 9-10am and disappear. Every single email we sent him (we sent only a handful) was ignored. I think he was playing games or watching the news. He never kept any of his promises and blocked certain employees from days off while others got any day they wanted. Am shocked this guy holds a job but thats what tenure and strong unions do to companies
Yep. It happens a lot in IT.
damn
Wow! The rage got into the IT industry! .I was taught by mike Myers’s you have to behave nice in the work place.be polite to the users when fixing technical issues their having.lol, don’t tell me the rage got to the Vatican where the pope reside.cuz we will be in a world of trouble.I didn’t think this behavior was happening in the IT field. I quit a toxic pharmacy job I had delivering meds and now You saying IT jobs are toxic?
@@garylove2836 yes basically
@@garylove2836 This was my first IT job so i sucked it up and moved on, i won't be working for the financial sector any time soon
Have 6.2 experience in helpdesk still handling calls ... Not sure what 2 do next
👍👍👍
Good stuff. But yea career stagnation is a big no no. You don't want to be 2 years into your IT Career and still only doing password resets and unlocking accounts.
Yep
kev .. is there really.much diff from W server '16 and '19 ?
I might be SysAdmin on a few W servers 'xx ... soon..I hope.. mostly a Linux guy here tho.. lot to learn
Not really
Hey bro sorry I've been gone for a while had to get another account
Any leads in Houston for help desk? Or any entry lvl jobs for experience?

Yeah bro, it gets old pretty fast.
Yep.
@@KevtechITSupport not to mention people not showing up and you get stuck with their load.
lol yeah
Nice can I quit ;) 😉
haha.
I'm in "no opportunity to grow" situation right now. I work for a huge organization where there's no opportunity to grow or move up. Networking through LinkedIn right now so I can get an opportunity to learn and grow.
Time to move on.
